Late Night?

The next few weeks were hectic, with too many softball games to count, but winning the State Championship was worth it to Claire and her team. She also had more training and school. Claire had to focus on finishing the school year strong, preparing for the last game of the season, and graduation.

Sitting at her desk, she was finishing some last-minute details on a school project before she called it a night, when a message popped up.

Despite her attempts at being strong, it felt like a vice gripped her heart when Mal’s name displayed on her screen.

Mal: “Working late tonight, Little One?”

Claire smiled and rolled her eyes. She hadn’t necessarily been ignoring Mal over the last few weeks. She was just busy with other things. Once she was home after her games, she managed to grab a bite to eat, do her schoolwork, and then pass out; just to go to school and do it all over again the next day.

Claire: “Hey stranger. Gotta focus on my assignments. Graduation is just around the corner
