Chapter 99- Elnora POV
I met Lawler in a depressing part of my life. I wanted nothing more than to get out of my marriage and was willing to do anything I could to make it happen, even cheating. I wanted to be happy, and I deserved to be satisfied. Our unique relationship was short-lived, but I loved Lawler at that time with every ounce of my soul. The day I found out I was pregnant with his child was the happiest and saddest day of my life. He was thrilled when I told him that I was pregnant. He cried tears of joy and held on to me with desperation and love.
Then something changed. He told me that he had to keep us safe. That an heir to the thrown needed to be kept safe, I needed to be kept safe. If anyone in his world found out about our baby, we would be in danger. My memories needed to be covered, and I needed to do the one thing that neither of us wanted m
Chapter 100-Talvin POV “What should I call you now?” My words have an effect on the pair of them like no other. It is a question that is difficult to answer for them because, in reality, it is up to me to call him whatever I feel is the best thing to call him. “Take a minute and think it through; let me know when I come back.” I snicker to myself as I walk back to Merrick’s room. “Hey, guys.” My entrance into the room is my usual entrance. If they didn’t know me as well as they do, they probably wouldn’t even bat an eye at my ease of re-entry. “What is the verdict?” Merrick asks, standing. “Even if you are his son, you are still my brother, always.” Fulton remarks. “You told him?” I ask Merrick. “He knew. I just filled in the missing details. I
Chapter 101- Merrick POV The moment Talvin asked for Lawler to step up and be our father, my heart broke. I know that Lawler is going to be an amazing stepfather in every way that he possibly can be. Deep down, my heart already hurts knowing that Talvin has a different father than Fulton and myself. Not because he is of different blood, but because we do not have that fortunate gift of knowing that the horrible man who raised us is not our father. We are stuck with the scum of the earth as a father, something that can not be undone. I wish things could be different. Then everything changed when Lawler announced that he claimed us as his within the Kingdom. I knew it worked that way; I have been told it works that way here, but hearing his words confirming it, changed me. Then Lawler said the unthinkable, and he wants us to be officially his and adopt us. A smal
Chapter 102- Fulton POV I just called Lawler Dad. The easiest choice I have ever had to make in my life. He has watched over my brothers and me for much longer than I had realized. I knew the meaning behind my title deep down, but now, hearing him admitting to the words fills me with pride. Not only did he claim all of us, but he did it before he got to know any of us. He claimed us on the night he made a deal with my father, or should I say sperm doner. He chose to love us without knowing us. He decided to give us a position within his Kingdom before he knew if we were worthy or not. The best part of all, it wasn’t just Talvin that he accepted as his; he accepted all of us as his. He has never once treated us differently since we had arrived here a few days ago. Never once did he make me feel lesser of a person while I was getting to know him all these months.
Chapter 103- Elnora POV As I walk with Lawler and Hildi down the stairs to the living room, I cannot help but think about what has just happened. My boys have decided they want to be adopted by Lawler. Lawler gave me my memories back, and everything feels different, somehow like we will live a new life together. A life well beyond what I had imagined it ever to be.Now, the thought of Hildi being our leak ruins all of that. I wanted a big family, a big extended family, but if it is Hildi who is our leak, I do not know how we could come back from that. Her words seem innocent, and I am not sure I would even notice her words being different had we not heard that we still have a breach in the Kingdom. Unfortunately, I can hear her words. I can hear her questions shining like a beacon to the person on the other end, Lawler’s father. The fact that she would stoop so low to do this to her grands
Chapter 104- Lawler POV“Do we have a deal?” I just offered the town drunk his own way to make alcohol and his own pub if he can pull himself out of his rut. Something I know that he can do. Beer here doesn’t do what it should. It takes many to get us even buzzed, let alone drunk. According to his mother, he drinks beer to help him sleep. He has a fear of sleeping alone, and in dark places, so he goes to the bar to get some form of sleep. I know what I am asking of him, and I know he will appreciate it.“Why are the two of you being so kind to me?” He asks with tear-filled eyes. “Why not?” Elnora asks him. “No King and Queen have ever been this kind. Nor have they ever taken an interest in helping the townspeople.” “We are different. Elnora has made me see that our old ways are exactly that, old. We will be doing a lot of changing for the better within our Kingdom, thanks to Elnora. You will be o
Chapter 105- Lawler POV Elnora and I excuse ourselves and begin walking up the stairs to our bedroom. “What are you going to tell everyone?” She asks me as we make our way to the second floor. “Well, we need to get over to Harmony’s house first. After that, I will know what I can tell everyone. Until then, it is hard to tell what exactly I will tell everyone.” “What does Harmony have to do with this?” I give her a knowing look and hope that she understands the meaning of it without having to say it aloud. “Oh. Ok. What does she need from us?” She questions me. “When we get there,” I whisper to her as I look around the empty house. She agrees with a nod and looks around just the same. As we come to our landing, we run into the boys. “What are you guys doing?” I ask as I take the top bo
Chapter 106- Elnora POV The boys are standing in the living room talking in hushed tones when we enter the room. “What is all the shady talking about?” I ask, laughing at them as I hoist my bag onto my shoulder in a better position. “Nothing shady at all. Just ideas of things we want to do while we are out and about. Are you guys ready to go?” Talvin asks me. “What is with all the bags?” Fulton asks Lawler as he sets down the two in his hand to adjust the one on his shoulder. “This one is my go bag.” He points to the bag on his shoulder. “This one is extra food for if we get stuck somewhere.” He points to the larger bag. “This one here is lunch.” He holds it up like a prize. “You made us lunch?” Fulton asks. “Was I not supposed to?” Lawler asks, confused-looking to me.&nbs
Chapter 107- Elnora POV Standing on the porch, we knock softly on the door before turning around and looking at the view. The boys have selected to stay at the stream with Sydney while we go ahead inside and hear the plans. “Who is it?” Harmony calls from within. “It is Elnora and Lawler,” I call back. “Oh. Shoot. Hang on.” A loud crash accompanies thumping footsteps leading up to the door. “Sorry about that. I wasn’t expecting you until a little later. No worries, come on in.” Her smile is filled with joy to see us while the rest of her body looks stressed.“Are you ok?” I ask as she closes the door behind us. “Nope, but I will be. Come on, let me show you where you can put your stuff and what you can help me with.” She heads off down a hall on the left from the door. “How?” I ask as we pass multiple rooms. “Spell
