Ch-5
“King Elisaveta… we will take good care of your sister,” an elder said.
“I can see how well you are going to take care of her from your current behaviour,” Maximus said.
Adira wanted to say something but she shut her mouth. She gripped his hand tightly, hinting for him to stop. Maximus looked at her, their eyes met. Her eyes held a pleading look. He wanted to ruffle her hair, she just looked like a cute puppy. But as much as he loves her… he understands her better than others.
She was saying that she was fine and she could bear it. But how could he let her bear it when he was still present. He might not be able to get her justice when she travels to the Vampire Kingdom… but he can protect her and get the justice she deserves when she is with him.
He was holding her for a long time, but he didn’t feel any pain and instead felt she lost some weight. And he knew the exact reason. From the time she got to know about her marriage with a vampire, she wasn’t eating well.
The elders of the Vampire’s were stunned at his words. No one was a fool there. They saw many things and this thing shows them that… Werewolves were just obliging to the pact just for the safety of their people, but if it was at the expense of their princess then they would not be holding back. It also means… if they were to kill Adira after taking her to the palace and say something wrong about her… there was no way they would tolerate it.
Here Maximus’s people would think that… Maximus was a good brother. He was portraying… a King role along with the brother role. Only the eye of an elder can see things.
Eudora waved her hand, a maid came near her. “Slap the one, who disrespected my daughter-in-law,” she ordered.
“Right away, Your Highness,” the young maid walked ahead and slapped Ophelia hard.
*pak*
The sound of the slap resounded in the hall. One can feel the intensity of the slap just by a glance.
“Again,” Eudora said.
The young maid bowed in Eudora's direction and turned towards Ophelia, who was throwing glares at her, but which were wasted already. No one cared about her feelings or her anger.
The Young Maid just looked at her with a gaze filled with disgust and disappointment. Raising her hand in the air, the young maid slapped Ophelia on the other cheek hard.
*pak*
A similar yet louder sound resonated in the hall. One can feel the pain just from the slap. But no vampire stood by her side. So what if she was the mother of the fallen princess? She was still a maid.
Ophelia felt dizzy from the two slaps she received, the corner of her lip started bleeding. She wanted to yell and say that she was the mother of Lenora. And she did that.
“I am the mother of Lenora Serafina Velorine!! How dare you treat me like this?! I will be the future mother-in-law of the Lycan king!!” Ophelia yelled.
“Enough!!” Lenora opened her mouth for the first time, slapping the table.
“I never acknowledged you as a mother! And my mother is her highness, Eudora! She brought me up from my childhood. I never saw you taking care of me. Now… you dare to say I am your daughter! Have some shame!”
“Now… Apologize to my future sister-in-law!” Lenora said.
Maximus was shocked at the turn of events. His future wife looked weak and fragile. And there was an unhidden layer of sadness under her eyes. Her lifeless eyes were saying countless stories, but they looked lifeless. The moment when she said Eudora was her mother… he sensed an emotion that’s sadness, grief from her. But she masked it quickly.
[Mine!!!] His Lycan said inside him.
[What do you mean?] He asked his wolf.
[Our MATE!!!!] His Lycan yelled.
[But our mate died.] Maximus said.
[She is our second mate!] His Lycan said exactly.
Indeed, his words were right. He was barely hanging from the time… he came into her proximity. When he walked on the red carpet, his nose picked up a beautiful and aromatic scent that belonged to her. It smelled like strawberry mixed with jasmine. It’s a unique scent that made him crave it. But remembering that this was a political marriage and given that his mate was dead, he didn’t think too much about it.
What was this?
Did the moon goddess send him a second mate?
The miraculous second mate thing was happening to him!?!
Many just said that there was no second mate… but now he met her. But was this true?
Maybe… he needs to check it. His thoughts were interrupted when he saw that Ophelia apologized with a lot of ‘sincerity’. Note the sarcasm here.
“Maybe you don’t need your eyes anymore. Since you are daring to glare at royals. Lower the gaze and apologize!” Lenora’s voice resonated in the wall.
Her Highness Eudora said nothing but a smirk was hanging on her lips. Indeed… her education and teachings didn’t go to waste. But it’s such a pity that… if that thing didn’t happen… she wouldn’t have put her away for the past two years.
Sighing…. She looked at the apologizing Ophelia. Eudora has to pull tricks to defeat Ophelia, but Lenora could control her like she was dealing with a bug. She wondered what made Ophelia this obedient towards her.
“On your knees!!” Lenora’s voice resounded again.
‘Just like how I prepared her to become a queen. She would be a great Queen!’ Eudora praised Lenora in her mind. But she felt bad for her. She wanted to praise her out loud and tell the world that Lenora was her daughter. But she couldn’t. Her eyes brimmed with tears, but she blinked them away. Deciding not to think about the things from the past, she diverts her attention back to Ophelia.
Ophelia apologizes to Adira for the third time. She couldn’t help but grit her truth. Once she was inside the palace… she would teach her a lesson.
“I guess my maid doesn’t even know how to apologize. She forgot that her head should hit the ground,” Lenora said.
Her actions showed that she wasn’t taking things lightly. And here… everyone can understand what Lenora was trying to show.
Ch-6 Lenora’s words shocked everyone in the hall. She not only surprised Werewolves but also Vampires. Ophelia was shocked too. She never thought that her daughter would be this heartless. Maximus smirked at her actions. He could understand what she was trying to say. She was trying to tell her that she was no lesser of a person than her. A beauty with brains was surely trouble and his future wife was exactly that. Ophelia gritted her teeth and kowtowed thrice in front of Adira. “Princess Adira, she is yours to punish if you are still not satisfied,” Lenora said with a gentle smile. Her features softened when she saw the expression on Lenora’s face. She looked gentle, harmless, and in
Ch-7 “Looks like you don’t like crowds, My Lady,” Lenora heard a voice saying to her. Her heart skipped a bit looking at him. “Yes, your highness. I like quiet places,” she answered him. “I can see that,” Maximus said as he tried to control the trembling nerves. His wolf was asking him to claim Lenora as his mate. This thing never happened to him. His first mate died unexpectedly without any reason. There were no leads to find the culprit too. From then, his wolf has always been aggressive and rejected every female who came to him. But, he asked him to claim her. How could a Lycan have a second mate? He needs to go through the Lycan history books or meet a witch. She wore a white dres
Ch-8 Lenora and Maximus returned to the ball. Now, the soon-to-be couples have to dance with their partners for the opening dance. Both men were adorned in black suits. Zaros was adorned with a Charcoal black suit, with his hair partitioned and jelled back showing his beautiful facial features. Maybe because of the royal blood in his veins, he wasn’t sickly pale like the other vampires. He looked handsome. “Would you like to dance with me, My lady?” Zaros asked as he forwarded his hand to her. Adira just smiled at him and forwarded her hand to him. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw him closer which was caught by his sharp ears. A smile formed on his face, when he realized that he was having an effect on her, he felt like he was flying in clouds. His heart leaped in joy. He wanted to laugh, yell and shout but he ke
Ch-9 “What is it, Angel?” Maximus asked. Adira felt like everything was a dream. Was it the reason why she couldn’t find her mate? She was confused. But if she says Zaros was her some people might use that as her advantage and makes her life miserable. But she doesn’t trust anyone as much as she trusted her brother. “Brother,” she ran into his arms and buried herself in his hug. Adira shivered in his hug. Maximus knew something was wrong with her. Whenever she have troubles she would come to him and hug him. If the trouble was big she would shiver. He wondered what kind of problem she was having. Or was she not able to process this marriage thing? Did Zaros do something to his princes
Ch-10 Adira felt someone touching her kissing and caressing her. Opening her eyes, she only saw fluttering curtains in her room. There was no one in her sight. Was that her imagination? Maybe. Or maybe it’s the effect of her wedding jitters. She got up and drank some water before going back to her bed. But sleep was far away from her. All she could think was about her Vampire Husband’s scent and his touches. He wasn’t pale like others. Even his sister looked like a normal human. She wondered what’s the thing with these both brother and sister. They have something different which made her curious about them. Also, she
Ch-11Serene brought a midnight blue dress for Adira to wear. It's a long dark midnight blue tulle dress that reached the floor. It’s an A-line silhouette dress with a sweetheart neckline. And her tight corset accentuated her upper body curves showing her well-grown breasts cup size while revealing her slim waist. Even though Adira felt suffocated, she just grits her teeth till she finishes her breakfast. The dress was decorated with pleat slashes and with a small bow belt attached to the waistline with a lace-up hemline. She wore a simple lower bun grazing her hair with beautiful pearls. Applying minimal makeup along with her red lipstick, she gave one last look to herself in the mirror. That’s when her eyes fell on the intricate wooden box on her ta
Ch-12“Uff… Mom! You know what? I am Hungry!” Adira said and turned around only to bump into a wall.Rubbing her forehead, she lifted her head to see the magical wall in front of her.“Ouch,” she said slightly.“My Lady, Would you like to join the table?” Zaros asked with amusement in his voice.Adira cast her eyes downwards biting her lips for the embarrassment she made.“Way to ruin the day again,” she murmured in her low voice.
Ch-13“I will pick my Future mother-in-law,” Adira said. These words stunned Serene by wholesome. She never expected her daughter would want this. She thought she would pick her.But what’s wrong?“Why?” Serene asked.“Simple, I want to know about my future husband. And my mother-in-law would be my partner in crime,” Adira said with a giggle.
Ch-118As the battle raged on, Maximus and Zaros fought valiantly against Azazel and Vrykolakas, their movements growing sluggish with exhaustion. Lenora and Adira watched with growing concern, knowing that their companions could not hold out much longer against their formidable foes.Adira, who had been feigning unconsciousness, seized the opportunity to speak with Lenora, her voice urgent with purpose. "I think they need something special to kill them," she whispered, her eyes darting towards the coffin of Lazarus.Lenora nodded, understanding dawning in her eyes. "You're right. Lazarus vowed to kill him. Then it could only mean something related to Lazarus could kill him. If Lazarus could kill Vrykolakas, then there must be something in his coffin that we can use as a weapon.""I'll go get it," Adira volunteered, determination burning in her gaze. As the chaos of battle unfolded around her, Adira's heart clenched with worry for her husband, Zaros, and her brother, Maximus. With eac
Ch-117"Then why have you entertained me till now?" Lenora asked. "Because I wanted to have one last conversation with my granddaughter," he said with a smile. "I regret being his daughter and your granddaughter. How blind was my mother able to be?" Lenora said with hatred in her eyes. "Well, what could I say if your bloodline is obsessed with my sons?" he laughed. Lenora looked at him with hatred. Azazel already started reciting spells. Maximus and Zaros stood outside the hall with anger bubbling in his chest. Even he didn't know why, but when Vrykolakas said that he killed the love of Lazarus, he wanted to rush in and kill him. But Zaros stopped him on time. "Now is not the time. Wait," Zaros said. Inside, Lenora tried to get up, but she was stuck to the ground as if she were under a spell. "Now, your blood and lifeline will make me strong. While your sister-in-law will be my vessel," Vrykolakas said. Lenora could sense her mate mark was gleaming. Which meant her husband was
Ch-116It's the magic globe of Azazel. It fell and broke. Giving a glance, Vrykolakas got back to his story. "Indeed, it is. Women are some mysterious creatures in this world. They knew she wasn't someone who would run away just to escape two men's pursuit. She loved Lazarus. So, both Amdis and Lazarus tried to find the truth about her disappearance. They came to know I locked her in dungeons." he said with a proud smile on his face, which only looked disgusting with his rotten flesh. "The creatures I created turned against me. The eldest was the most rebellious one. But my youngest was angry yet he calmed down. He always acted in the interests of his people rather than his own. He gradually forgot the woman when he found his fated mate. But Amdis rejected his fated mate and brewed a revenge plot. But Lazarus, the calm one, turned out to be the most vicious one." Vrykolakas eyes turned sinister. Among them all, Lenora was scared that his eyeballs would roll out of his body and look
Ch-115Hearing Lenora's words, Azazel felt that it's time to wake up the ancient. He stood up and started chanting spells. A huge array appeared in the air. As Adira grappled with her thoughts, a sudden movement caught her eye. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, the ancient creature in the room began to stir, its grotesque form emerging from the shadows with a sickening slowness.Adira recoiled in horror at the sight before her. The ancient was a ghastly sight to behold, its flesh rotting away to reveal the grisly remnants of its once-human form. Bugs and maggots writhed and squirmed around its decaying body, casting a foul stench that filled the air with the sickly scent of death.Even Lenora, who had maintained a stoic facade in the face of adversity, felt her stomach churn with revulsion at the sight before her. But she forced herself to remain composed, steeling her expression as Azazel rose to his feet and offered his position to the ancient creature.Adira's mind raced as she strugg
Ch-114The room seemed to hold its breath as the energies wrestled for dominance, each seeking to overpower the other in a battle of wills. Sparks flew as the opposing forces collided, casting shadows that danced across the walls like fleeting phantoms. The sound was deafening, a cacophony of crackling energy and echoing reverberations that reverberated through the very foundations of the palace. Every surface trembled in response to the sheer force of their clash, the air thick with the smell of ozone and magic. For a moment, it seemed as though time itself had stopped, the world holding its breath as the two energies locked in a fierce struggle for supremacy. But then, with a sudden burst of light, Lenora's golden energy surged forward, overwhelming Azazel's dark power with its radiant brilliance. The room erupted into chaos as the two energies collided, sending shockwaves rippling through the chamber and shaking the very ground beneath their feet.Adira coughed weakly as the dust e
Ch-113Adira was at her wits end. She can't keep Azazel engaged anymore, given the stunt she pulled earlier. He was wary of her. And not to mention, her energy was depleting like a air leaking out of a balloon. Due to the absence of her wolf, she was very weak. Given with the fact that she fought earlier with Azazel and his lackey, she was weaker than before. She hardly has the energy to move an inch. She slumped on the ground helplessly. "Do you think they can save you? You don't know what was coming before!" Azazel said as he let out a bark of evil laughter. For some reason, his eyes were shining green. "I wonder who your daughter is. I pity her so much," Adira said in her raspy voice. "You will be surprised to know her," Azazel replied mirthfully. Adira felt a foreboding feeling as she looked at him. This man was just as twisted as the dark magic. No wonder he was attracted to the dark magic. Just then... a woman entered the hall. Seeing her, Adira smiled. But soon... it turne
Ch-112Adira's mind raced as she considered her options. She knew she needed to keep Azazel's attention away from the globe, buying time for her family to rescue her. Summoning her courage, she spoke up again. Adira's wolf was in dormant state too. She can't fight him. All she could do was distract him. "You must be quite powerful to have infiltrated my household so easily," she said, her voice steady despite her fear. "But do you really think you can outsmart the King and my family?"Azazel chuckled, a low, chilling sound that echoed through the dimly lit room. "Outsmart them? Oh, my dear, it's not about outsmarting. It's about power and control. And right now, I have both."Adira knew this man had both power and control. The dark magic he practices, his spells, and his position give him everything that can keep everyone in control. Her sister-in-law can kill anyone with a single blow and burn them into ashes. If a vampire can have that much power, this man, who was an undead creatu
Ch-111Adira doesn't know what has happened to her. She was waiting for Lenora to come and have lunch with her. Just then, a maid came to her and informed her, "My Queen, the King, your family, and everyone else are in the study. They are expecting your presence. Would you like to go now and join them or have lunch first?" Adira didn't know that everyone were meeting there. "Alright, I will go over," she replied, standing out. Also, Adira knew there was something happening in both kingdoms. She hated being treated like a kid and didn't know how to handle things. Today, since everyone was there, and she would be crowned queen, she had to let them know she couldn't be treated this way anymore. She actually thought of talking about this after crowning and prove that she was capable too. This was what Lenora said. "You don't have to verbalize everything. But if you did, stand on it whatever it takes. And make sure whatever you do never compromises your self-respect," Her mother, Serene
Ch-110As Zaros, Lenora, and Maximus stepped into the ancient willow tree, they found themselves transported into a realm of forgotten grandeur. Before them stood a vast stone palace, its towering spires reaching towards the heavens like silent sentinels guarding the secrets held within."This seems to be abandoned," Lenora muttered as she drank into the grandeur of the huge abandoned stone palace. There were some scriptures written on the walls of the palace. Just looking at them made her feel scared. She clutched Maximus's hand a bit tightly. Maximus held on to her hand patting her slowly as if saying it's fine he was with her. Despite its apparent abandonment, the palace retained an air of majestic splendor, its walls adorned with intricate carvings depicting scenes of ancient battles and mythical creatures. The air hung heavy with the weight of centuries past, each stone bearing witness to the passage of time."This place is oozing with the evil energy," Zaros said. "Well… it's
