Chapter 67- Fantasy version

I tossed and turned in bed, my mind racing from everything that had happened. The room seemed unbearably hot, even with the cool night air drifting through the open window. Lydia's venomous words echoed relentlessly in my head, painting devastating images of Alexander with her. I couldn't shake the sour taste of betrayal that clung to my thoughts. Tomorrow, he would be gone forever if Victor had his way. And to make things even worse, the doctor had no answers on what could be wrong with the twins. When he came to see them, the scale-like marks were no longer there.

With a frustrated sigh, I threw off the covers and sat up, running a hand through my tangled hair. The moonlight filtering through the window cast silvery shadows across the room. I glanced over at the silent form of my children, sleeping peacefully in my bed next to me. I hated letting them out of my site these days.

Leaning over, I gently place a kiss on both of their heads. Liam stirred a little, his eyes fluttering op

"Victor, do you know anything more about Mother?" I asked, trying to keep my tone casual, even though my heart pounded in anticipation. He looked at me thoughtfully, his gaze seeming to pierce through memories long locked away. "Not much that would make sense without further context. Father was always protective of her mysteries. But there was something... something about the day they met." "Tell me," I prompted, urging him gently but firmly. I needed to know. Victor stood there silent for a second as if he was trying to remember every part of the story. "Father met Mother in the forest. She was... different, mysterious. Her origins were somewhat unclear, but he recognised something in her, something that made him realise she was his mate. That's what he told me." I nodded, encouraging him to continue, the tension between us thickening. "They fell in love quickly," Victor said, a wistful look crossing his face that contrasted sharply with the pain I suspected he was hiding. "But

Alexander pov Standing at the palace gates, my heart was heavy. The last thing I wanted was to leave Olivia, but I knew that I had to. If I stayed, it would only make things worse. I should have left hours ago, but I couldn't leave without seeing her, so I've just been standing here waiting in hopes that she will come to say goodbye. Ethan had chosen to leave last night. He didn't see the point in staying any longer since Victor wouldn't let him ever see Lidia again. Guilt has been eating away at me from bringing him into this and maybe wrecking his chance at love and happiness. “Alpha Alexander, we really should get going.” the coach driver called to me, snapping me out of my head. “Soon, “I said, holding up my hand as I scanned the courtyard one more time for her. Just as I was about to give up and turn around to get into the carriage, I spotted her out of the corner of my eye, walking towards me. My heart began to pound in my chest with excitement. “Olivia,” I couldn't bri

Olivia’s povMy mind was still racing from everything Victor had told me last night. I always knew that my mother was strong, but there was something about the way Victor talked about her that made it clearer. Our stories weren't so different. We had both been betrayed and run away from our homes while pregnant, and somehow, knowing these things made me feel closer to her than ever. As I made my way to the front of the palace, the thought of Alexander finally leaving today filled me with a small, guilty sense of relief. I wanted to see it with my own eyes, to make sure he was gone for good. The courtyard buzzed like it always did this time of morning. I spotted Alexander standing at the gates with his beta, Ethan. His face was unreadable, but as if he knew I was there, he lifted his head, and our eyes locked. "Olivia," his voice was quiet, almost like he was scared. It was the last time he would ever say my name again."Alexander," I replied evenly, blinking away the morning mist th

The day passed, and night started to fall. The palace was buzzing. Tonight was a blood moon. The blood-red glow of the moon seeped through my window. I tried to focus on my breathing, willing my mind to calm down. My head was pounding worse than it ever had before. I collapsed onto my bed, gripping the sheets, my teeth gritted against the pain, which came from somewhere deep within."Olivia, get a grip," I whispered to myself, but the pain was ruthless, unforgiving. Worse than anything I have ever felt before. I felt Aura stir, but her calming presence was drowned out by a new, fierce energy. "Olivia," it thundered, "I am Saphira, your dragon."The headache vanished as swiftly as it had come, replaced by a sensation I couldn't quite describe. I felt an overwhelming sense of power—raw, untamed, and ancient coursing through every inch of my body. I bolted upright, my breath ragged, trying to comprehend the impossible."Saphira?" I whispered into the dimly lit room, though I knew the wo

The next morning, I woke up. I expected my mind to be a mess, but instead, everything seemed to just fall into place. So many things that didn't make sense before now did. Last night felt like a dream, but I knew that it wasn't because I could feel my dragon Saphira inside my head.Swinging my legs over the edge of the bed, I got ready for the day before going to find Victor, needing to share the revelations from the blood moon night with him.As I reached the door to Victor's room, I hesitated. How would I explain that our world had just expanded in ways we never could have imagined? Taking a deep breath, I knocked."Vic, we need to talk."Victor opened the door, his expression one of mild curiosity. "What's up, Olivia? You look like you've seen a ghost.""More like a dragon," I muttered under my breath as I pushed past him into the room.He followed, half-amused, half-concerned. "A dragon? Seriously?"I turned to face him, locking eyes with all the seriousness I could muster. "I'm n

I decided to let Victor rummage through his thoughts alone. I knew what I had told him sounded crazy and didn't really make any sense, but I couldn't keep it from him. He was a part of this, whether he wanted to believe it or not. I made my way through the palace to see the twins, hoping that being around them would clear my mind. "Olivia," Saphira's voice sliced through the silence of my mind, startling me to a halt. "Before you see the twins, there’s something you should know.""Not now, Saphira. I’ve told Victor everything, and I can't handle any more surprises right now." I whispered."No, Olivia. This is important. Head to the North Tower of the palace. Your mother hid her diary there. It holds the answers to many of your questions."My pulse quickened. A diary? Perhaps it contained the missing pieces to this puzzle. I glanced down the hallway leading to the twins' rooms before making the choice to head to the north tower. The sooner I got answers, the better, not only for me bu

We spent the rest of the day going through our mother's diary. Each page revealed more secrets but also left us with more questions. My mother had fled the dragon kingdom in a hurry, but she hadn't explained why. The more I read, the closer I felt to my mother. We returned to the north tower, finding one more diary but something told me that there was still more. Most of my other entries were written in an almost code-like way, making it hard to put the pieces together. But something inside me told me that she did it for a reason: to protect her secrets. And the only way we were going to uncover everything was by finding every diary and also returning to the dragon kingdom. I sat across from Victor, lost in my mother's words. It was as if she was here with me, telling me her story. My heart was heavy because I wished that she really was here with me. Victor let out a loud sigh, sitting on the book he was reading on the coffee table. “How is it possible that these diaries give us so

We made our way to the front of the palace's gates. Lidia came rushing towards us, her face pale and her eyes wide with fear. "Victor, wait!" she called, hurrying to catch up. “Lidia, I need you to stay here. The pack members will be scared, and they will need someone to look to,” Victor ordered her, leaving no room for argument. Lidia’s eyes softened slightly as she nodded.” of course.” Victor pulled her into a quick hug, placing a kiss on her cheek. “I love you, Lidia. I’ll see you when we return.” Lidia gave him a weak smile. "I love you too, Victor. Be safe." As Victor turned to lead the group away, I tugged Lidia aside. “Lidia, I need to ask you something important. Can you take care of my twins while I’m gone?” She looked at me, her eyes wide with surprise and confusion. “Olivia, why are you willing to have me look after the twins? I know what they mean to you.” I took a deep breath, searching for the right words. “I trust you because we are family, right?” Those words

Alexander's POV The battlefield pulsed with chaos, a vast symphony of metal clashing and figures weaving through a smoky haze. I fought with a focused intensity that came from the core of my being. Each movement was purposeful, and each turn of my blade was meticulously calculated. This was more than a war of physicality; it was a contest of spirits fueled by love and vengeance. All around me, my pack surged forward like a tidal wave, wolves overcoming soldiers with primal ferocity. As I caught a glimpse of Olivia soaring overhead on a dragon's back, a wild joy lit me from within. Her presence was like a beacon, a promise that drove me onward, deeper into the heart of conflict. My attention was wrenched upward by the tumultuous struggle above. There, in the sky, dragons twisted and turned in an aerial ballet of might and desperation. King Nicholas and his son, Elijah, battled with a fury that seemed to rend the sky itself. Nicholas's dragon fought with savage intensity, every swi

Elijah's povThe clamour of the battlefield swelled around me, punctuated by cries and the clash of steel. My heart was a tempest, torn between my loyalty to my father and my love for Olivia. I had never intended to become a pawn in this war, but here I stood, bathed in conflict, with my mind spiralling around the impending chaos. As I left Olivia's side earlier, my frustration boiled over into the tense air. "Cease this madness!" I cried out to the guards, their movements a blur of aggression around me. "These people are not our enemies!" Laughter erupted in response, sardonic and cruel. "The King has spoken, not you, Prince Elijah. We fight until death unless he says otherwise." Disdain twisted within me—a serpent rearing its head. Their insolence, their mindless obedience to Nicholas's bloody decree, was galling. But I knew why they refused me. I wasn’t their king, merely a shadow cast by my father’s ambition, a prince wearing false armour. The world spun with futility. Seeking

The ground was approaching swiftly beneath me, a swirling mass racing to meet my descent. Every instinct screamed that this was a mistake and that the leap would surely be my undoing. But even as fear clenched my heart, the dragon's scale in my grip pulsed with a warmth that banished doubt. One hundred meters above the earth, however, a shadow loomed. The first dragon I had saved soared to my rescue, swooping beneath me with a grace that defied the chaos of my fall. Relief erupted within me as I landed on its broad back, a breathless gasp escaping my lips. Holding tight to the rough, warm scales, I murmured, "Thank you."The dragon's powerful wings flapped, beating a defiant cadence against the tumultuous winds. It rose into the sky, a guardian taking flight, and together, we soared, the kingdom unfurling beneath us as a tapestry of vibrant life and teetering conflict. As if in a dream borne aloft, hundreds more dragons began to appear, majestic and fierce, emerging from the shadows

Olivias povI raced through the tunnels with a sense of urgency so intense it felt like a physical force pushing me onward. My breaths were ragged, each inhalation a struggle as I navigated the labyrinthine passages beneath the kingdom. My mind was a whirlwind, and though my plan was half-formed at best, I knew the dragons were my destination—their strength would be paramount in the battle to come.As I emerged into the dragon chamber, the oppressive air filled my lungs, heavy with the scent of fear and confinement. I couldn’t afford to hesitate, even as my heart pounded with the weight of what I was about to do. There they were, magnificent creatures tethered by chains, their eyes pools of ancient wisdom and unfathomable pain. The sight of the three guards was like a cold splash of reality, snapping my senses into sharp relief. The lead guard shouted, “What are you doing here? You can’t be here!” His voice echoed menacingly through the chamber, but I was beyond fear.Panicking would

Alexanders povThe moment we scaled the wall, chaos erupted like a storm unleashed upon the city. The guards, mere specks below, shouted commands in a futile attempt to contain the inevitable. Before anyone could react, a deafening roar sliced through the pandemonium, and the dragons descended, dark silhouettes against the dawn sky. Each dragon was a testament to terror and power, their scales shimmering with malice as they perched above the city. Fire erupted from their jaws, slicing through the air like molten spears, incinerating everything in their path. The city seemed to collapse inward upon itself, screams of horror mingling with the crackling of flames. Yet, amidst the chaos, my objective remained clear. I needed to reach the palace and confront Nicholas, ensuring he could never threaten Olivia or Sarah again. Victor and the others would search for them, but I would end this once and for all. As we pushed forward, defenders surged toward us, their weapons drawn with the con

Alexanders povThe wind whispered across the battlement, carrying a chill that dug deep into my bones. I stood at the wall encircling the city, my army of loyal wolves poised silently behind me. The air was tense, suffused with the anticipation of what was to come. I contemplated the wall with an acute awareness of what lay on the other side: the city that held Olivia and Sarah.Saphira had left to go find Tinsley and inform her of what was about to happen. She had gone inside the kingdom walls to get out as many people as she could who did not want to fight for the king. We couldn't wait for her to return. We had to strike now before Olivia was forced to marry King Nicholas's son. “Get me your king!” I shouted up to the guards standing motionless atop the wall. The defiance in their silence was a simmering challenge that only stoked my resolve further.Out of the corner of my eye, a sudden flicker—a glint of deadly intent—arched toward me. Instinct and adrenaline merged, and without

Olivias povI reached my room in a flurry of motion, the urgency pounding in my veins, and slammed the door shut behind me. My heart was a relentless drumbeat, each thud a resounding reminder of what I needed to do—find Sarah, free the dragons, and somehow escape. But I was just one person amidst the turmoil."Think, Olivia. Think," I murmured to myself, pacing the confines of my chamber. Outside, the chorus of panic escalated, every scream an echo of a city on the brink of collapse. The knowledge that they were searching for Sarah and that I couldn't help gnawed at me, a relentless torment.Suddenly, the door flew open, and there stood Elijah, his emerald eyes wide with urgency. "Olivia, come on! I have to get you out of here. Alexander’s army is approaching the city walls.""No," I protested, a firm resolve anchoring me to the spot. "I can't leave without Sarah."Elijah stepped closer. Desperation was etched on his features. "It’s not safe for you. My father will use you as a pawn i

Victor’s PovThe harsh chill of the dawning day crept through the forest as our army settled in the shadows of the Dragon Kingdom. Our journey had been gruelling, each step laden with the weight of expectation and desperation. We had pushed ourselves to the very edge, and now, waiting on the border, the tension crackled like static in the air around us. I was restless, every fibre of my being reaching out, praying for Alexander's swift arrival.I couldn’t shake the image of Olivia and Sarah from my mind. The need to bring them back consumed me with a fire that could scorch the earth beneath my feet. My sister was strong—tougher than anyone I knew—but I also knew the storm she was caught in. And then there was Sarah, innocent and pure, needing protection in a world full of shadows and claws. My thoughts were interrupted when a scream echoed from the periphery of our camp. The distant clang of metal, a rhythmic symphony that drew me towards it despite every nerve screaming for caution.I crept forward, each step pulling me closer to the source until a thin line of light pierced
