Reed's POV

The first light of dawn had barely kissed the horizon when I stepped outside. The early morning air was crisp, biting at my skin as I walked with purposeful strides toward the Elder’s Hall. I needed to move swiftly, faster than the other alphas, who were likely still deep in their slumber. Today was too important to leave anything to chance.

The wooden floors of the Elder’s Hall creaked under my weight, echoing through the hushed corridors. I paused in front of the imposing door of the Head Elder's office, steeling my resolve. They wouldn't expect me this early, but catching them off guard was precisely the point.

Without knocking, I pushed open the door, stepping into the room. Elder Greyson looked up from a pile of scrolls, his piercing eyes narrowing with displeasure. The other Elders shifted uncomfortably, eyes flitting between each other before settling on me.

"Reed, what is the meaning of this?" the Head Elder demanded, his voice thick with disapproval.
