Days came and went, yet Mikhail kept himself to his room. He'd occasionally dine with Susie who would insist on seeing him eat the dish she prepared, though he had doubted her cooking for a few days due to memories of the time he was drugged. Susie made full use of Xander's name as an excuse to get him out of his room, even though she has to mumble out his name with respect to do so.
Xander had to leave a day after Mikhail shut himself in his room, leaving Susie to watch after Mikhail's meals, much to his chagrin. Susie merely snickered at the opportunity given to herself and chased Xander out of the village immediately after accepting the request.
"Mikhail, open up. Let's eat."
"... I'm not hungry."
"I'd bring up that baldie's name to get you out of your room but I don't want to. Instead of that old geezer's name..."
Susie cut off her sentence and then broke through Mikhail's room door, earning her a loud shriek from Mikhail as he stared as his broken door. He held his blanket close to his chest as he stared at Susie horrified, mouth opening in shock as he sputtered incoherent words.
"Without the door, there's no need for us to be separated. You even get to see my face 24/7. Teehee~♡" Susie grinned as she walked towards him.
"Now hold it right there. What do you think you're doing?"
Susie and Mikhail glanced towards the broken door as they stared at the figure leaning against the door frame. Susie had already propped herself against Mikhail, holding up his shirt, revealing his pale skin and developing muscles while pinning him against the bed when Xander had arrived.
With a flustered look on his face and a sigh of relief, Mikhail squeezed out of Susie's grasp and exited the room. Xander glared daggers at Susie as he folded his arms with an annoyed expression on his face.
"I knew leaving him in your care would prove detrimental. Good thing I arrived when I did."
"Tsk. More like, arrived at the wrong time. What're you doing back here anyways? Don't you have work to do in the palace? To rule a country? Ring any bells?"
Xander furrowed his brows and frowned at the derision in Susie's voice. He then straightened his posture and headed straight towards Susie, clamping his hand around her neck.
"I don't approve leaving someone like you unattended and still living. You keep insisting on mocking me and trying my patience. I'm surprised I even let you live. Then you try to do God knows what to Mikhail by dressing up in drags?"
"Kh... You... What if... I really was a girl? Uhk... Won't it be... A bit much?"
"Does it even matter? If you try to touch..." Xander's sentence was cut off by a soft gasp, catching him off guard. Xander glanced towards the door, or what used to be the door feeling irked and noticed Mikhail standing there with his hands clamped around his mouth.
Xander's grip loosened and Susie took the opportunity to push him off, running towards Mikhail as she hid behind him. Xander gasped and fell off the bed, knocking his head on the ground as he groaned in pain.
Mikhail was at a loss on who to support. His face was flushed from thinking about the scene he had just witnessed. Xander had pinned Susie to the bed with his arms holding her down while his knees pressed against her thigh and had locked her in place. From his point of view, it was such an intimate scene that he was flabbergasted and could only blush at the scene.
Susie grinned wickedly at Xander from behind Mikhail as she started putting on her waterworks, trying to frame Xander of a heinous crime. "That... that old man tried to... sob..."
"Wait! What?! What are you even saying... That's not true! Mikhail, I was reprimanding her for throwing herself all over you!"
Mikhail lowered his eyes and furrowed his brows as he shook his head, face still flushed. He brushed off Susie's hand and excused himself from the room, keeping his head lowered and apologised for interrupting them.
"Mikhail!" The duo yelled in unison as they watched Mikhail leaving the room in a hurry.
"Tsk. Look what you did. Why'd you even return anyways?" Susie asked as she slumped to the ground cross-legged with a huff, running her fingers through her ebony hair frustratedly.
"Why? I'm bringing him back. Not like I need to tell you or anything."
"Huh? What are you talking about? Back where?"
"Home... While his mother is gone... I have the responsibility of taking care of him."
"What? How would that even make any sense? You?" Susie scoffed with a look of scorn plastered on her face.
"Why wouldn't it make sense?"
"You're not even related! He barely knows you! As if he would willingly follow you. What? Are you going to come out and say some shit like, Mikhail, I'm your father. Or something?"
"Yes."
"Hah, that's what I tho---... Wait! WHAT?!"
"That's right. I'm going to tell him. I am his father."
"You... Crazy..."
Susie gritted her teeth with frustration as she found herself at a loss of words. She couldn't find any words in retort to Xander's outlandish remark and could only express herself through the silent profanities that tried to escape from her lips.
"I came here to pay him a visit before breaking the news to him. I don't find this village conducive nor suitable for his wellbeing... Especially with a certain someone whom shall not be named."
Susie's eyebrows twitched as she glanced at Xander, a deep frown tugged at her lips as she knitted her brows. She heaved her chest and grinded her teeth as she pondered his sentence.
Silence fell heavily on the room, building a cold atmosphere between the duo as they sat in their respective corners. The tension was broken when Susie finally voiced her opinions.
"If you plan on bringing him back to the palace with you... I should be there as well."
"... Huh? I thought you'd say something sensible..."
"Quit joking around! I am being very serious and highly sensible! If the nobles could easily start a riot due to the closing of ports and planned on starting a full out war, what do you expect would happen once you bring a commoner to the palace?"
"Gh... ... Your words hold some semblance of truth to them... But what could you possibly do to counter those who oppose?"
"I'll simply burn them."
"A splendid ide--- Wait! No! That would make matters worse! Sigh..."
Xander and Susie then sat in silence for another long while as they pondered their ideas and solutions, weighing the pros and cons for each situation. They considered their best plans before voicing out their opinion to garner some insight from one another.

Mikhail leaned against a somewhat shady tree near the river as he glanced at his house sheepishly. His face still felt warm so he doused some of the refreshing river water on his face. He shivered from the cool liquid on his skin and the light breeze of the autumn wind, immediately shaking his head to clear the droplets of water that coated his visage.
He glanced towards the sky and watched as the translucent clouds drifted with leisure. The weather had started to grow even more colder, evident that he hadn't been leaving his room due to his unfamiliarity with the shift of temperature.
Mikhail breathed slowly, puffing a small white cloud from his mouth as he paced about under the tree where the withered leaves fell gently down collecting at his feet.
He breathed into his palms as he attempted to warm his hands. The chilly air and soft chirping of the birds that flew off like the changing of the weather helped him feel a little better as it took his mind off of his missing mother.
Nothing would change even if I mope around... Nor would it change if I were to stay put in this village... Maybe I should enlist in the army or something... But I've no one to vouch for me... Mikhail got lost in his thoughts as he kicked a loose pebble into the river, watching it plop into the clear streaming water absent-mindedly.
His thoughts were abruptly interrupted as Susie's voice rang out across the empty area. Mikhail turned around and found both Xander and Susie walking towards him.
"Mikhail~" Susie bellowed out as she sprinted towards him with a wide smile plastered on her face. Xander looked slightly more irked at her behaviour but broke into a smile as he watched Susie trip on a pebble and fall flat on her face.
"S-Susie! Are you alright?" Mikhail asked as he ran towards her. Xander trailed after Susie and pulled her up to her knees thinking of stopping whatever antics she had planned, earning a disgruntled frown from her.
"Oh dear, I feel a little light headed, maybe you should help me rest... in your bed... in the room... of our home..." Susie said as she struggled to free herself from Xander's grasp to cling onto Mikhail.
"Err... Well, it seems like the King is ready to lend you his aid, though? Seeing as he is already helping you up?" Mikhail said as he scratched his cheek.
Xander had a firm grip on Susie's wrist, locking her into place as he eyed her warily. Mikhail saw it more akin to the two staking their grasp on one another as it seemed like an intimate interaction.
Mikhail broke into a slight smile as he handed Susie a handkerchief to wipe the blood off her nose before pulling his back upright and asking them why they were looking for him.
"I need to tell you--"
"I need to tell you something!" Susie cut Xander off as she finally broke free from his grasp.
"Our relationship is nothing like what you think. I don't like this old geezer. I'd rather die than say I even like him."
"O-oh." Mikhail replied as he stared at Susie with a vacant expression.
"That's right! Don't misunderstand. I already have someone very precious in my heart."
"I... I see... My apologies... I didn't mean to make you two feel uncomfortable..."
"Oh... No that's fine... I'm just glad we cleared this up." Xander said as he patted Mikhail's shoulder affectionately.
"Yes. Now that that's cleared up, we have a different matter to discuss..." Susie said as she nudged Xander.
"Sigh... I thought you wanted to tell him everything."
"Well, it's your big moment."
"I suppose... Erhmm... Mikhail... I..."
"Ah! Watch out, Your Highness!" a young soldier cried as he rushed after Xander with a shield in hand.
Xander turned his gaze towards the sky and noticed a gleaming that was growing nearer by the second. He sighed as he stood still and shut his eyes as he readied his hand in a manner which seemed like he was about to catch something.
He then opened his eyes and swiftly grasped something that fell from the sky. The soldier stopped mid-run and then lowered his head as he apologised fervently.
Xander frowned as he walked towards the soldier. He patted the man's shoulder before handing the arrow back to him, encouraging him to keep practicing.
The soldier thanked Xander for his encouragement before being dismissed for the day. Mikhail watched the entire scene that had unfolded along with Susie who almost saw Xander in a new light.
"Hmm? What's that look on your face, Blackie?" Xander grinned as he noticed Susie's awestruck face, he thought it was a good idea to have a good story to counter her remarks in the future.
"What? I was just amazed that he couldn't hit such a big target. I think your soldiers still need more training." Susie countered as she wiped the impressed look off her face and replaced it with a cunning grin.
Xander furrowed his brows before massaging his temples. He sighed as he cast aside his initial thought and put on a serious expression, turning towards Mikhail who looked deep in thoughts.
"Your Highness... I have a favour to ask of you." Mikhail said with an earnest look on his face.
"Oh, sure. What is it?"
"I want to... join your army." Mikhail replied with a calm disposition. He had finally made up his mind, all that was left was Xander's approval.
"I..."
Mikhail glanced expectantly at Xander's face as he clenched his fist. His throat felt parched and his heartbeats hammered in his ears as he gulped the lump in his throat.
What would Xander's answer possibly be?
Xander pondered Mikhail's request as he thought of the heavy workload of his troops and Mikhail's current physique. He felt a little bad for Mikhail but steeled himself to tell him his respond."Well... If we're talking about the Blood Knights and the Platinum Knights... then, I have to apologise. There's no way you could possibly join them. They are skilled Knights who have proved themselves in countless battles even way back during my youth.""I... I see..." Mikhail said as he lowered his eyes, his face grew hot from embarrassment while tears pricked his eyes. This rejection felt as if his little light of hope had been shattered to pieces."However...""E... eh?" Mikhail's eyes widened as he hadn't expected a continuation to Xander's sentence after that cold rejection."None of them started a skilled warrior. Just like me, I had to work hard to get to where I currently am, yet,
Mikhail flopped onto his bed before curling into a ball. Thoughts of his birthright danced in his head. He found it difficult to process that he was a prince. He rolled around in his sheets for a bit before finally spreading out his arms and legs and staring at the ceiling. He furrowed his brows before moving to get up.Mikhail sat upright and glanced at the neatly packed suitcase he tucked in the corner of his room before stumbling over to the rickety bookshelf he made a few days after moving to Tefflander. He reached out to a worn looking book and tugged at it's spine. He sighed at the weight in his hand before flipping it open. The loose pages threatened to scatter but Mikhail was having none of that today. He continued flipping through the pages until a light purple paper pressed with a blue flower came into view.Mikhail held onto the bookmark as he set the book back into it's spot on his booksh
The road to the capital city was smoothly paced. The scenery of the beautiful autumn leaves floating down, lacing the road with strips of red, orange and yellow were a sight to behold.Mikhail however had his head looking downwards to glance at the rein in his hands. It was a pretty foreign feeling for him.All his life he had been tasked with walking all over the village to harvest, plant or help someone elderly with their chores. He hadn't had much practice with riding a horse ever since the last time roughly seven years ago when his mother had taught him."Mikhail, why are you looking downwards?" Xander asked as he spared a glance in Mikhail's direction."Eh?! Uh... I... Truthfully... haven't practiced riding in a long while... I'm scared I might fall and embarrass myself.""I see. You shouldn't put your head down, though. Horses are sensitive creatures. If you're
William gritted his teeth as he thought back on the scene that replayed in his mind. He felt infuriated that his father showered a stranger with heaps of attention eventhough it was someone he had met not too long ago.Who does he think he is? Hero? Pah! What a joke!William clenched his fist as he stormed his way through the crowd of people who were focused on getting to safety, not caring that they were bumping into a member of royalty."What's the situation?" William asked as he glanced at a nearby soldier who seemed to be at a loss at the situation and pulled on his pair of dark gloves, assessing the situation."P-prince William! Salutations! We're doing everything we can to get the situation under control. But with all the citizens running amok..." the soldier replied with a salute before trailing off on his sentence.William clicked his tongue as he turned his gaze
"This... might be bad..." Louis said as he turned to face Mikhail. "Wh-what's the problem? Is it... an unknown poison?" Mikhail asked as he glanced towards Xander who was grimacing from the pain as his body occasionally twitched and his face grew paler. "No. I know the antidote for this poison. However... the problem is... I do not have either of those ingredients available on hand." Louis said as he straightened his glasses. When did he put on a pair of glasses... No wait, that's not the point... "What are the ingredients?" Mikhail asked as he shook his head to clear off the irrelevant thoughts and stared directly at Louis. "This is called the Everfrost Dying Wish Poison. The poison is made by mixing an extract of the essence of an Everfrost flower with a Cecilia Waterlily." "Erm... What's that..." Mikhail asked as he stared blankly at Louis.
The journey to Lestria felt uncomfortably long as the guide hardly said anything aside from the few times when they informed the duo that they were going to let the horses take a break. "That guide... something about them feels off." Susie said as she cracked her neck, stiff from staying in an uncomfortable position from watching the shifty guide who had been eyeing Mikhail the whole trip. "I think so too..." Mikhail said softly as he glanced at the guide who was covered from head to toe in a thin dark garment. For the first time, Mikhail found himself doubting someone else. Such a feeling was unfamiliar with him as a small country bumpkin from a cozy village where everyone was like family with one another. It was impractical to doubt one another as they all depended on each other. Susie did a double take, blinking her eyes rapidly in disbelief as she had not expected Mikhail to agree w
"What do you mean he was poisoned?! What were the knights doing?! Why aren't you doing anything?!" Lilith yelled as she threw her wine goblet at Louis, the blood red liquid splashing over him. "My humble apologies, Your Highness... I have already dispatched the knights in search of the culprit and sent someone to aid me in search of the ingredients for the cure." Louis said as he kept his head lowered, calmly reciting the answer he had thought off overnight. "... If that's so, it's fine. You may leave." Lilith said as she glanced at Louis whose upper garment was soaked with the red liquid. "As you wish. May the Light of the Divine One guide your path." Louis said as he headed for the door. "... He can't die yet... I still need him for my plans..." "Your Highness... I forgot to mention but... 'He' has called for you." Louis said as he stopped in his tracks.
William entered the room with a heavy heart. He hoped that what Louis had said was anything but the truth. However, he was struck by a painful sight as he saw his father writhing in pain as soft groans escaped his lips. "So you're here." a woman's voice permeated the silence, catching his attention immediately. "Mother..." William replied with an uncertainty to his voice. The sight of her surprised him. It's been so long since I last saw her face to face. Let alone hear her voice. However... that expression she wears... it's still the same as ever. Lilith wore a cold and distant expression on her face. She tilted her sharp gaze towards William, meeting his eyes as she unfolded her arms. It would seem as if she could not stand the sight of her own son. "It's a good thing you're back. The commotion that was stirred has caused quite a problem. I have to depart to one of ou
"Are you up?" Mikhail pries his eyes open groggily before he groans and rubs at them before turning towards the source of the voice."Whu--?" Mikhail blurts out a confused reply as he blinks his bleary eyes at William, waiting for them to focus but grew drowsy in the meantime."It's high time you get up. It's the second time in my life where I had to personally wake you up." William sighs as Mikhail's eyes slowly shut."Don't you dare fall asleep! We need to move out while it's still lights out. The terrain is more dangerous at night and we need to be able to pinpoint where to go from here." William frowns as he shakes Mikhail awake."F-five minutes more..." Mikhail tried to keep his eyes open but couldn't help it as the grogginess overwhelmed him.William released Mikhail's shoulders as he frowns, knitting his eyebrows in annoyance. Without thinking twice, he grabs the hides out of Mikhail's reach and tossed them to the other end of the tent, fold
"Hup! Easy!" William steadies his horse as he approached the deserted camp. The men behind him murmur in silence as he spares a glance at the messenger. He purses his lips and led them towards the stable before hopping off his horse. It's unlikely that the messenger is lying to me. But even if he is, I'd better keep a safe distance for myself from the group. "I'll look around. Remain vigilant!" William instructed as I kept a calm expression to ensure they don't think something was amiss. The messenger stated that there would be someone to greet me once I arrive. Yet, there is nary a soul nearby. Did something occur? William keeps a wary hand on the hilt of his blade as he surveyed the empty tents that were billowing with the frosty wind. Whatever footsteps that could have been used to track down where they could possibly have gone were covered in the cloak of white.
Venturing further up to the north was where the enemy camp was located. Arthur holds onto the contract, glancing at its content as he purses his lips and knits his brows. He looked over his shoulder, thinking about his sister and everyone back at the camp before frowning. However, as he turned to look forward, he shakes his head and sighs.Men clad in jet black armor with red lining greeted him with a few warning arrows before he climbed off his horse. Arthur slips a note he had written prior to leaving the camp between the stallion's caparison before sending it off by startling it into running away.He watched the men try to shoot it down or run after it but failed as the horse ran past them. A sigh of relief escapes his lips that he had brought along his beloved horse before a burly man approached him and covered his head with a bag."You do know who I am, right?" Arthur frowns as the man shoved hi
"I can't." Arthur pushes Soleil off his arm as he grabs the contract and leaves the tent.Soleil glances at the flap swaying back and forth from where Arthur had left as she flicks her tongue in silence. She then slithers over to Mikhail, her faintly golden scales reflecting the light of the oil lamp on the desk.Mikhail holds his head and grimaces before blinking his eyes, slowly making out Soleil's presence as he sits up straight. He stares at her for a moment before glancing at his hands that were tightly restrained by some thick ropes."Shall I get you out?" Soleil slithers up his arm as Mikhail shakes his head, unlike what she expected him to do."No. I need to show my sincerity and that I truly wish to help him.""Is that so? But would that require you to be restrained like so?" Soleil wraps herself around his neck, dangling loosely like a jewellery as Mikhail sighed to himself."Tigris showed me a memory of young Arthur. He woul
Back at Trevault or somewhere fairly close to Trevault, Mikhail kneels stiffly as Arthur paces around him. Even if he wanted to make an excuse, the way he was caught clearly puts him at a disadvantageous spot regardless.Mikhail shifts uncomfortably before straightening his back upon noticing Arthur's narrowed gaze. His legs had been growing number by the second and he could only feel pins and needles in his lower half."How did you escape?""I escaped? No... I..." Mikhail peeked at Arthur's face before the flap of the tent was raised and Juniper walked in eyeing Mikhail as she gave him a belittling gaze."Brother... so this is where he was..." Juniper sighed as she walked over towards Mikhail and kicks him onto his side.Mikhail gave her an astonished gasp before knitting his brows. It was totally uncalled for, for her to act in such a manner when she was the one who requested such an act to be carried out. He was simply carrying out her ord
After their discussion, Xander walks down the corridor with Lilith by his side. Not too far down from the room they just exited, he halts in his steps.Lilith paused as she turned to face him, curious eyes met muddled ones as she opens her mouth to say something but decides against it. She purses her lips, deducing the words she knew he was going to say before swallowing the lump in her throat."The nobles must be feeling rather impatient after this long. They must not be used to waiting, being the top of the social hierarchy... we should head over." Lilith eloquently puts her words into a chain to shackle Xander down, hoping that his Kingly duties would keep him from going back to Diane."... .... You're right. We should make haste..." Xander meets Lilith's gaze as he takes a step forward.Lilith releases the breath she had been holding as she heads over to his side. It wasn't like her to act in such a behaviour. However, upon seeing Diane up close, it w
The hands of the clock on the wall seemed to tick all too loudly as the only sound that accompanied it was the clinking of the teacup as it rested back onto its saucer. The uncomfortable silence and tension in the room made the air overly sufferable for the knights stationed to guard Xander.Lilith takes a sip from her teacup, her expression calm. It made it seem like she was unfazed by such a situation and had been in one countless times before. She glances over at the two people across from her before peeking at Xander from the corner of her eyes.If she had known better, it was obvious he was irritated and his bad mood was much worse than when he had to deal with the pesky nobles. Lilith shut her eyes and takes a deep breath before placing her teacup back onto its saucer as she decided to break the silence."To what do we owe this unfounded invasion?" Lilith directed her question at Diane but before Diane could say anything, the man beside her cut her off.
"Your Highness! I have an urgent report that beseeches your attention!" a messenger rushes before Lilith, lowering his head as he holds forward a scroll to prove of his task."Let me hear it." Lilith swivels around to face the man, turning away from the window as she sits herself down by her desk."There is a foreign enemy consisting of a large troop by our Eastern borders. Reports have claimed that their attire are not known to resemble any of the Agrestians, Trevaulties or Lestrian garments."Lilith straightens herself as she taps her fingers impatiently. She opens the lone jewellery box that rests atop her desk, the only object that didn't match her otherwise packed desk of paperwork. She stares at the innocent stone sitting in the box, void of any colour before shutting the box almost as quickly as she had opened it. She ponders something before shifting her gaze to the messenger who had been furtively glancing at her."I've received the
"... The... Gods?" Arthur glanced at Mikhail with a look of disbelief as Mikhail felt the hesitant smile on his face start to falter.Arthur then burst into laughter as he holds onto his stomach for dear life. Mikhail frowns in response, lowering his disappointed expression to his hands which he suddenly realised were cuffed."What?! You... you chained me up? Why?" Mikhail gasped and shifted his anxious eyes at Arthur who was busy wiping the tears from the corner of his eyes that were a by-product of Mikhail's words."Because of what you said. It could be anyone's guess that you were grasping at straws, begging us to save William. But for you to make a wild guess that we had hidden messengers... it would be implying we don't trust our own men." Arthur tugs on the chain, jerking Mikhail's attention towards him before donning a serious expression."I wasn't grasping at straws. I saw it myself.""That's impossible. We didn't find any communicati
