Chapter 9

Aidan POV

After the emergency blood transfusion, Freya still lay motionless on the hospital bed, her face pale, her chest rising and falling slightly.

"Although she's no longer in critical danger, her uterus is severely damaged. She won’t be able to conceive again," Luigi said, rubbing his brow.

Those words hit my heart like a heavy punch.

"No," I shook my head, whispering. "There must be a way. I’ll find the best doctor in the world, and she will recover."

Luigi just snorted and said nothing more.

I knew Freya loved children, and when she wakes up and finds out not only has she lost her child but also her ability to have more, she will surely break down.

What I feared more was that Freya would blame me for taking away her ability to become a mother, and she would never forgive me for the rest of her life.

I clenched my fists, feeling more helpless than I ever had before in my life.

Sophia came to pick up James, who had just donated blood. She glanced into Freya’s room.
