Chapter 4- Mate or Enemy?

"Are you sure?" Xavier asked.

"Yes, she was mated to Raymond. Three months ago, she was officially announced as Luna. She is our enemy. " Ben said.

"This can't be true, Ben. Fabio said she had been tortured. I think the truth is deeper than what seems at the surface." Xavier said.

"What if Raymond sent her here to spy on us?" Ben countered.

"After what Raymond did to me in the past, he won't be a fool to send his mate as a spy here. Secondly, she is my mate now. This clearly means she is not mated to him anymore, and her being my mate is not something Raymond can control. Moon goddess chose her for me. I won't jump to a conclusion without listening to her side of the story." Xavier said.

"As you wish, Alpha. Let's wait until she regains consciousness. " Ben said and left the office.

'You can fool the world but not me.' Gray said to Xavier.

'Gray, I trust her. But I'm scared, what if my trust gets broken. What if I lose everything again? Just when I was thinking about starting a new life with her, my old wounds were opened again. It's not easy to accept her as my mate.' Xavier said.

'I just want that you should not keep any grudges against her because she was mated to that asshole. Not until you know the whole story. ' Gray said.

'Raymond killed our mate Aliza. Now we got another mate who was his mate before. I don't know what's all this mess. It's making me crazy. ' Xavier ran hands through his hairs in frustration.

'I think we need to go for a run. It will help you clear your mind.' Gray suggested.

Xavier shifted and ran through wood. The air filled with the smell of wet soil was hitting his nose. It's soothing for him .

'I think you are right. I should not hold grudges against her. I will give us a chance.' Xavier said to Gray.

'Good human.' Gray said.

'Dumb wolfie. '

They continued to bicker with each other.

On the other hand, Arianna woke up and found herself in unknown surroundings.

"Where am I?" She tried to ger up, but her head started spinning. The nurse supported her and helped her to lay down again.

"You are still weak. Don't move." Fabio said as he entered the ward.

"What place is this?" Arianna asked.

"This is Pack Hospital. You are in Winter Moon Pack. " He informed.

"Winter moon? How did I come here?" She asked with shock.

"Some wolves attacked on you. Our Alpha Xavier Miles saved you." He informed her. The image of a huge grey wolf appeared in her head.

'So the wolf we saw before becoming unconscious was Alpha Xavier. ' Aurora said.

"Doctor, can I make a call. I want to contact my father." Arianna requested.

"You are not a part of our pack. Your identity is still to be verified. I am sorry, but I can't let you do that without Alpha's order." Fabio said.

"Can I speak to Alpha then?" She asked.

"Sure, I'll inform him that you gained consciousness. But I have to examine you first. " Fabio said and started examining her.

"Unbelievable, you wounds were so bad. Even with the super healing of wolf, it would have taken days to heal, but your wounds are healed already. How is it possible?" Fabio was shocked.

He quickly informed Xavier through mindlink.

Arianna was confused at his reaction.

'Why is it so much of a big deal if I healed quickly?'

Her eyes fell on her wrist.

"My bracelet. " She breathed out.

"What happened, ma'am? Do you need something?" Nurse asked.

"I had a bracelet on my wrist. Where is it?" She asked.

"Sorry ma'am, but there was no bracelet when you came here." Nurse informed her.

'Mom gave that bracelet. Maybe we lost it during the fight. Don't worry, we will look for it.' Aurora said.

'Mom told me not to remove that bracelet ever. She said thar the bracelet has a blessing from the Moon goddess. It will bring me fortune. ' Arianna said.

'Seems like that bracelet never worked. We got misfortune by meeting Raymond. ' Aurora sighed.

"Alpha is here. He wants to meet you." Nurse said, and Arianna nodded.

Arianna was busy talking to Aurora through mindlink when a handsome man entered the ward. She was mesmerized by his features.

'He looks like a Greek god.' Arianna thought to herself.

'Mate.' Aurora wiggled her tail excitedly.

In contrast, Arianna's excitement was dead when she heard the word mate.

For her,the meaning of the word mate us not as beautiful as it used to be.

Images of Raymond punishing her and cursing her flooded in her head. Xavier shook her to bring back to reality.

"Are you alright? You seem stressed. " He asked.

"I'm fine." She said in a low voice.

"I would like to talk to her in private. " Xavier said. Fabio and nurses left the room. Being alone in that room with him was making her anxious.

'Calm down, Arianna. Don't be scared. He is our mate.' Aurora said.

'What if he is like Raymond?' She asked.

'Can you just stop judging him because of that asshole.' Aurora don't want Arianna to be traumatized because of Raymond.

"Are you talking to your wolf?" Xavier asked her politely. He can sense fear in her. He wants to make her feel at ease.

"I'm sorry. I won't talk to her around you if you don't like it." She panicked because Raymond used to hit her if she mindlink to Aurora while he was talking.

"It's okay. I was just asking. Don't panick. Relax." He patted her head.

"Thank you for saving my life, Alpha. " Arianna said.

"No need to thank me. Call me Xavier. There is no need for formalities. After all, we are mates." He smiled at her. Looking at his sweet smile, her lips curved into a smile as well.

"May I know the name of your wolf? My wolf is scratching the barrier because I'm not letting him talk to your wolf." He chuckled.

"Her name is Aurora. She is also excited to see your wolf again. Last night, she couldn't see him clearly." Arianna said. She is feeling at ease around him. Though she is still scared deep inside. She doesn't want him to get offended.

"My wolf's name is Gray. He is saying that you and your wolf are beautiful." He said. Arianna blushed at his compliment.

"Thank you." She said.

"I know it's not the right time to ask, but if you don't mind, may I know your relationship with Raymond Phillips?"
