"YOU'RE THE REASON THEY KILLED HIM!" Isla yelled, I honestly had no clue what she meant by that, or 'him', I was just extremely shocked to see my best friend again, unfortunately seeing her face stirred up another attack of memories again. A thousand memories and images flew in front of my eyes, god! Not now! This was the worst time for my memories to hit back, my head felt heavy, with the overwhelming amount of memories that returned. As I buckled to my knees, I could hear Evin yelling my name in the background, it grew fainter with each second, damnit, I had to come back!
I felt a sharp pain at my shoulder that made me jolt right back to consciousness, Evin had pierced a small dagger, which had the insignia of a rose embedded in it, it blazed the same shade of deep blue as the rose in the garden as he chanted something that I couldn't understand. Energy surged through me and I felt alright again, I noticed that my wounds healed too.
"And there goes my last save point, Mez, what did I tell you, it was a damned stupid idea for you to stay back!"
"Hey, you're the one that initially suggested I come along you asshole! Did you forget that?"
Just then an arrow came flying in our direction and barely missed us, we decided to stop squabbling in the middle of the battlefield and fight instead. "Ok so here's the plan Mez, you distract your friend, while I search for some breakthrough to escape!" Evin said, but unfortunately, Isla lunged straight at me, with full force while skillfully throwing Evin off balance. Damnit, I was as good as dead, considering the fact I had no idea how to use my powers or at least what the hell they even were.
I had taken a longsword just for the sake of self-defense, but it seemed like I had to put it to use now, I guess I had muscle memory of how to use a sword, as I managed to block her attacks without much of a problem, but I kept slipping as my body was still recovering from the shock of the healing spell. She had a small dagger, but from what I had seen, no one here used normal weapons, for example, those arrows had a mind of their own, they changed direction in the air, I was dumbfounded on seeing all of this, and that dagger that I got a cut from seemed to drain energy. Usually, I could come back to my senses even after a memory attack, but this time, it had seriously almost gotten me killed.
If it weren't for Evin I would probably be dead now. Well, he was right about me staying being a bad idea, I had slowed the escape down, but, I needed to get my memories back, and I was determined, if I had simply fled, I wouldn't have seen Isla or gotten my memories. I wanted to save her, she seemed to be controlled by some presence. I might have a chance of recovering my powers too, basically, this was a golden opportunity, but with a heavy cost. I needed to be extra careful.
Suddenly, everything stopped moving, what the heck was this! But Isla was moving, and she headed straight for Evin who was stuck in his path fighting someone else, if I was right she was trying to bait me, could she actually control time?! Wait no, you cannot set two times for two people, time wasn't something you could control, it seemed as if I could move only at the speed of a snail while she could walk with ease. No, this wasn't time control, this was a different space, she had created a small space within our dimension, it was simply an illusion that time had slowed down. Space control eh? Now that's something you don't see every day.
I felt panic run through my veins as she neared Evin, I had to do something and fast! How the hell was I supposed to break the damned spell that slowed me down! Her dagger gleamed violet as she held it against his throat, wait a second if she was the one who created this and she was in control all I had to do was grab her attention, and this false dimension would fall apart. In that split second all I could think of was to throw the longsword I had in her direction, of course, it didn't hit her, but the loud clang of the heavy longsword against the floor distracted her. I lunged towards her and pushed Evin back, she aimed right at my heart with her dagger, but I caught hold of it,
"YOU'RE THE REASON FOR EVERYTHING! YOU TOOK AWAY THE ONE I LOVED SO I WILL DO THE SAME TO YOU!" Isla screamed as rage-filled tears streamed her eyes.
"ISLA THIS ISN'T YOU! GET BACK TO YOUR SENSES, I AM NOT ALLOWING YOU TO HURT ANYONE!"
Just as I had said that a strange golden light started pouring from my torn up palms, and the light surged right through her dagger and into her, her eyes lost the red, and returned to their original color again, everything around us went dark, and Isla too started disappearing, but I heard what she said right before she had completely disappeared, "Mez, is that really you?"
And so she too disappeared into the darkness, then I saw a window of light in her place, wait no, the window grew larger, soon my surroundings had changed and I was at a field of sunflowers. Where in the world was I? What was happening?
As I stood in the middle of the sunflower field trying to make sense of what was happening I saw a small girl, sitting amidst the flowers, she looked like a younger version of Isla, wait, was I seeing her past? She was being ignored by her friend and was on the verge of tears, just then someone tapped her shoulder, he asked "Why are you sad? Hey! Would you like to join me in a game of tag, it's fun!" Isla who looked like she didn't want him to notice that she was crying agreed to his innocent request. The boy leaped in joy and asked,
I opened my eyes and saw the night sky above me, damn, it looked beautiful, wait a second, what was I doing lying on the grass in the middle of nowhere. As I tried to get up, mywhole body throbbed with pain, especially my head. Ah, thank god I wasn't dead, I thought that I was gonna die when everything faded into blackness. I had finally gotten out of Isla's memories, I really didn't see that coming, I guess this was a headstart to understanding my powers. I don't know how I did that, but in that one moment, something inside me awoke, I could feel the strange energy running through my veins like it was waiting to be released.
It was one hell of a task to find your way through this place alright, I forgot the way to the infirmary, ah, I shouldn't have run away. Finally, after an hour of searching I got there, I felt so tired honestly, I just wanted to sleep. If it weren't for my problematic responses to things, I could probably go to sleep now. Well, anyhow I've messed things up, so I might as well face the consequences. As I entered the infirmary, the nurse saw me and gaped in utter shock,"Oh my god, child, you're b
Ms.Aslome sat me down and first asked me if I had been informed of my disappearance after which she told me in detail what she knew about the incident. She then asked me about my physical and mental health overall and if I were feeling alright. I told her about my memory loss and how it took me by shock each time my memories came back. I then asked her if she could explain what my powers were like, and how I could use them properly, mainly what were powers even based on? where did they come from?
"BANG!", the ground shook and so did my heart, I heard yelling in the other room, it was another fight... I tried my best to squeeze my eyes and let sleep take me away, anything actually. But, no matter how hard I tried Icouldn't, that loud booming voice, each word that came from that voice sent my fragile mind into eternal chaos. Fear surged through every part of me, my hands cold and sweaty, and my heart beating like I was going to die. The one I treasured and the only one I had was in danger, but I couldn't do anything to protect her. The booming voice wa
"You may take your leave Sir Caretaker, I'll take it from here, I'm taking your morning shift for today," Evin said with a cold stare."If you say so sir, I assume you are the owner? may I know your name?""You already know that don't you? so pleas
As he started with the spell a blue ring of fire surrounded us, and with that, in the blink of an eye, it was done. I thought it was a mistake because I didn't really feel anything but I realized that I had regained my combat memories as Evin suddenly lunged at me with a dagger but I deflected the move like a pro. Evin then smiled and said,"Ah seems like that did the trick! that's great, Mez how do you feel?"
I had finally gotten some time off and decided to explore the institute. I had been constantly bombarded with something or the other since the moment I had stepped in here that I never really got the time to look around. I wanted to find the place where I had gotten teleported to during my fight with Isla, I remembered it being slightly into the woods beyond the outdoor training arena. It didn't take me long to find out that place, I saw black ash near the place that I had landed, it was p
The metal doors opened revealing two masked men, Julian and me hid behind the small wooden shelf at the left corner of the room. He said that he would distract the two men by doing a small spell and then both of us could make a dash for it. I didn't know if it would work but it was worth giving a shot. While the two of them discussed our absence Julian did the spell and smoke started to fog up the room.We both dashed out of the door and ran, but we had no idea where we were headed to, not soon after we heard a loud cras
I heard muffled voices speaking in the background, I couldn't see anything and realized that I was blindfolded, I was being carried off to somewhere and couldn't move for some reason. Was it some spell? All I could do was rely on my sense of hearing and smell to figure out what was happening, from the looks of it I was definitely not going somewhere pleasant.I heard the clang of metal doors opening and I was subsequently tossed into the room like a sack of potatoes. I felt the cold floor beneath me while haunting memori
"Evin's missing...""WHAT?! what do you mean?!""Earlier today he mentioned that he was going to the training grounds to train, but even after half the day was over Victor realized that he wasn't back, so we decided to check on him and when we asked the others if he had been there, they said tha
