2024-12-24 14:37:46I slowly move closer to the bed just in case this is a hallucination. I reach my hand up and lightly drag my fingers down the side of his face. I jerk my hand back because the feel of skin under my fingertips surprises me. My dreams never feel this real. I slowly get up on my knees and crawl to the edge of the bed. I reach my hand up and cup Zayden’s cheek, lightly brushing my thumb right under his eye. The light movement must have startled him enough that his eyes fly open and he has a death grip on my wrist. My eyes widen in shock staring in to his.
“Grey?” He croaks out after blinking a few times clearing his vision.
“Hey buddy. Yeah, it’s me.” I say in a whisper. His hand loosens its hold on me but he doesn’t let go of my wrist. We just sit there and stare at each other for a few seconds before he let’s go of my wrist and swings his arms around my shoulders pulling me in to a hug.
