However, before he could utter another word, she kicked him in the abdomen and sent him flying on the two mages. Dominic fell on Calhoun and the Ancient One was thrown to the side. Their connection was broken and so was the sphere that disappeared.
The Ancient One had opened his mouth to speak when she bit his head off in one clean swipe.
The headless corpse fell to the ground with a thud as the head rolled towards Calhoun’s feet. Blood was dripping from the she-wolf’s mouth and her white fur was splattered with red.
Growling and angry the she wolf kept looking at the headless body of the Ancient One that had slumped to the ground, as blood pooled around it, soaking the floor and his robe in a dark red color.
Calhoun and Dominic could do nothing but stare at the wolf and the body along with the head that had rolled to Calhoun’s feet. The wolf seemed to slowly grow calm and then it too fell to the ground with a thud.
The young man let out
Despite that, she had been filled with a sense of unease, of killing one of her own, no matter how he had behaved with her, no matter how he had tried to stir the lycans and turn her against him. The Ancient One had been the one who could help her fight the curse, keep herself intact, but now he wasn’t there. Who should she look up to now? Who would be her savior? The alpha and the mage merely looked at each other, sharing awkward glances for some time. While Valencia was crying on the flower bed that had now sprung up with a variety of colorful and aromatic flowers, the mage took the alpha aside. “Look, this is important. We have to leave right now.” Dominic was taken aback by his words, “we?” The mage looked around as if trying to decide how much he could or couldn't tell Dominic, weighing his options. “Yes, We.” Unfortunately, what your girlfriend did back there is going to have serious repercussions, n
Dominic knew that running would ease her mind like no other thing, hence, he let her have some alone time while ensuring to stay within a range that he could reach her if she were to collapse. He also noticed that her fur was sparkling white again and felt that maybe it was a sign that the curse had been lifted, that whoever was behind it, had just wanted the Ancient One dead and now that she had done it, the curse had been nullified. At least, that was what he could hope and pray for. It would be terrifying if the curse would still be active and working, it would make her unsafe not just to her family but to the entire lycan community. He couldn't afford that, the werewolves couldn't afford that. They needed her, their archon. The mage flew up in the air as the bird carried him on his back, perfectly fine. He kept darting his eyes to the ground and didn't even realize that he was keeping an eye on the white spot of fur that was dashing throug
“Don't give her any more, if you don't want her to suffer for the next hours. She received enough dosage for a night’s run.” Dominic wasn't inclined to listen to him but something in Cahoue voice made him want to believe him. Had he wanted to kill her he would have done that in the tower itself when she had killed the mage. She didn't know and now her mind was buzzing with too many thoughts. What would she do and how would she search for this perpetrator? The potion Calhoun had given them revitalized and invigorated the two alphas who were running as if it was a piece of cake. Sure, they always ran because Valencia loved to and Dominic would accompany her sometimes but this was different. It was as if their legs were not even exerting strength and running seemed effortless. In the night sky, the white swirls of the air bird Calhoun possessed were visible and the two would dart in the direction of the sky occasionally to look at the stars. Acro
But then a thought crossed his mind and he decided to ask the archon. Calhoun looked at Valencia and asked in a rough tone, “Am I not the guest of the archon as per old laws? A mage has to be welcomed and taken care of the highest authority of werewolves if I remember correctly.” Valencia gritted her teeth. Damn old laws. She had forgotten about them because it had been centuries since a mage had visited them or even neared their territory. As such, they were obsolete and nobody knew if they were still under effect. But, he had saved her by keeping her secret safely hidden with him. And, she didn't like this fact about him. She was under his thumb, and he could use that to extract a favor or use her to do things she didn't want to do, not willingly at least. Valencia looked him in the eye and answered, “The old laws asked the werewolf with the highest authority i.e. me to welcome a mage, yes. So, I would like to welcome you to our headqu
Just then a thought crossed his mind and he tried mind-linking to her. They hadn’t used the communication method in ages, simply because they never had someone who could eavesdrop on their conversation.Dominic shrugged, “Maybe Trecdor had it cleaned before his arrival. He must have planned to stay but you know he wouldn't have stayed anywhere near you, even if the law required the archon to keep the Coven head as her guest.”“The law…again…grrr”The thought had never crossed her mind that Trecdor would have done something like this. The Round Hall looked like the colosseum, ancient and broken, but everybody liked it this way.It would keep any humans that stray into the forest from finding about the existence of such a massive structure that was hard to miss. Occasionally, some enthusiastic humans would travel through the jungle in search of some adventure and stumble upon the round hall.Once or twice t
Again, she shrugged her shoulders, “On the contrary, I observed his face when you were talking to your beta. He looked interested about something as if the Round Hall had some answers to whatever he was looking for. It felt odd.” “Maybe, he was just observing the heritage of the werewolves up close. No mage has been in our territory since ages.” “Could be the case, still I didn't want him in your place and certainly not mine.” He let out a chuckle at her words and asked, “How about a quick run?” Valencia's eye’s lit up at the word run. Her wolf was eager to be let out despite having run for almost a day and a half. Before she could reply he added, “Not your wolf, I can never beat you in your wolf form. Wanna race in your human form with me? Let’s see if you can beat me?” He asked with a mischievous grin and Valencia squinted her eyes at that. “Oh, you think I am strong and agile only because of my wolf? Let me prove you wrong, bu
The soft bluish glow of the antlers was slowly replaced by a golden light as the magic of the mage was entering the bird, feeding him with magic. Skylark closed its eyes too and they sat like that for around fifteen minutes until the antlers began to dazzle in the golden light instead of the faint glow. Smiling a little, Calhoun opened his eyes and then stopped the flow of magic as he saw that skylark was completely fed and had also received some extra boost of magic that it had saved in his antlers. After a while, skylark opened its eyes too and Calhoun asked the bird, “Happy?” The bird cawed in response and let out a shriek of joy telling the mage how happy it was. Calhoun chuckled as he caressed the antlers for some time and then asked, “Do you want something more? You carried me for almost twenty-four hours on your back without complaining. I think I might help you with some enhancement.” Hearing the mage’s words skylark bega
However, his wide smile turned into shock upon seeing Calhoun. “Good morning, Cal-...just what the hell are you wearing?” He asked him with wide eyes and Calhoun replied with a smile, “Good morning, alpha. I thought we were going to meet for lunch, not breakfast.” Dominic arched his eyebrows, “So that is your answer for just putting on the first thing your hands touched?” The mage chuckled and eyed Patrick before answering, “Actually, I was just going to go for a walk but then saw Patrick arrive earlier than expected. I wasn’t going to do anything special either so I just came along.” Patrick realized that Calhoun had just saved him from receiving a scolding from his alpha, but he stayed quiet. He only bent his head a little and turned away to leave but Dominic stopped him. “Not so fast, Patrick. I asked you to send him clothes, food, and some essential stuff. What is he wearing?” Patrick turned around but his eyes were fixated
Valencia let out a growl on hearing that. “How could you, Trecdor? She is a little girl…all these days…I have been living with the guilt of scaring her and it was you all along?” Trecdor spat at her words in disgust, “Trecdor? Do you dare call me by my name? Where is your respect for the Coven's head?” Valencia meanwhile kept glaring at him, “You lost it when you sent an untrained, tainted werewolf after my niece, you don’t have the right to that seat after what you have been doing to the humans…” Dominic tried to mind link her, “Keep him busy talking, I’ll try to untie the knots holding me to this filthy pillar.” She was startled to hear his voice in her head all of a sudden but Trecdor only took it as the reaction to his betrayal. To goad her further, he added, What use is she to me? Well, if she grows up and is capable of birthing a wolf then she may be of some use…if not, she is a burden on our community…like yo
After ensuring that the car was safely hidden out of view, both of them stepped out of it and peered through the gate.Luckily nobody had come running towards the gate when it had creaked loudly. So they believed that it could either mean that whoever was in charge didn’t think that anybody would show up or if they did then they wouldn’t walk out alive. After ensuring that nobody was around using their acute sense of hearing and smell, the two slowly edged inside. There was a lot of abandoned stuff littering around the open space so it proved to be effective in hiding. Thus, they used the empty drums and stuff lying around to hide them while carefully walking inside. The two werewolves kept inching towards the entrance that they hoped would be heavily guarded or at least tripped with wires. But to their surprise, again nothing obstructed their way. It was strange and both of them merely glanced at each other before walking
Running towards him, she turned him around and before he could react, she pulled him by the collar and placed her lips on his. Daniel had not expected her to have such a reaction and he was startled for a moment but soon he gave in to the feeling. He was afraid that she would shun him and was only around him for old time’s sake. The fact that she took the initiative to kiss him dispensed all the worries from his head. His arms went around her and he lifted him from the ground while kissing her back. Jenny smiled and a chuckle escaped her lips to feel him be so elated. His eyes were shining with joy and she could also see a tear or two though he was trying hard to not show it. “I love you” The words escaped his lips automatically and Jenny’s eyes mirrored his emotions. “I have always loved you, Danny,” Jenny replied and the two smiled again. “Now, put me down…” Daniel who was lost in the sensation of
As she kept thinking about this stuff, her feet automatically carried her to the headquarters. She walked inside the headquarters, climbed the stairs, and got to the upper floor where Daniel was sitting on the chair. He looked weak but not as exhausted as before. The guards stationed outside the room bowed their heads at her. “Has he eaten something?” One of the werewolves who were standing away from her bowed his head and answered, “Yes archon, we gave him food and he finished that reluctantly. In fact, he has been asking to meet you. But, we didn’t inform you because we thought it was too early.” She nodded her head in acknowledgment and went inside. Daniel was in a fresh set of clothes, probably Gerald had given her a new set. He even looked to have bathed and not as harrowed as the night before. Daniel had a notebook and a pen in front of him and appeared to be scribbling something. Seeing her enter the room, he got up from his seat and bo
The voice pained him and the icy tone with which she said that to him made him feel like he was punched in the gut. “Why are you doing this?” He asked in an anguished voice. She was still pinned to the bed and his hands were still holding hers. He tightened his hold on her and bent down again to say, “You don’t really mean that, you are saying that to get back at me.” Valencia kept looking at him with the same steady gaze, her eyes didn’t even falter for a second. She was proud of not giving away the roller coaster of emotions coursing through her. “If you think so…” Calhoun’s eyes grew darker and she hoped that he would get away from her the minute he realized that she wasn’t joking. However, he did just the opposite. Instead of getting away from her, he bent down and gave her the steamiest kiss ever. In one swift motion, he put his hands around her, pulled her in a tight embrace, and began eating her lips, devouring her
“Well let’s say fate decided to meddle with her life. She got separated from her parents and had to live on her own….but….she was a strong girl. As such, she decided to not let destiny decide the course of her life, thus she fought against all odds and became a queen from an orphan.” She gave a dry chuckle at that, “you make it look so effortless...” He responded, “I know it isn’t, but I didn’t want to go into the details of the pain and suffering of the girl, she has had her fill.” Valencia closed her eyes and replied, “Hmm…so, where is she now?” Calhoun looked at her face that was shining with innocence and pain. He wanted to kiss her so bad but didn’t want to take advantage of the situation. Thus, he answered, “She is ruling her kingdom all by herself.” “Oh, she doesn’t have a king?” “She could but she doesn’t need anyone I think.” “Well, everybody needs someone at one point or the other…” The words had tumbl
The word made her momentarily forget what she had been about to say. Nobody had called her queen before. Blinking her eyes she said while fumbling, “Yes…I am..” Though her heart had skipped a beat at that, she continued to look at him with defiance. Calhoun closed the distance between them and stood extremely close to her, their faces inches away from each other. “What wouldn’t have happened if I had stayed away?” He asked her again, slowly and steadily and she realized that he had understood that she had not implied the incident with the blue werewolf. A small part of her heart was amazed to see how he had clearly understood her but the other was still fluttering at the way he had called her queen. It felt oddly nice to hear him call her a queen. Scolding herself, she tried to get a grip on herself as even her wolf seemed to be confused now. Earlier, she had loved Dominic but now feeling what Valencia was feeling made her unsu
Dominic muttered and turned into his wolf. Valencia got up from the ground as the rogue motioned ahead and raised his hand to smack her again. But before he could do this, Dominic jumped on him, sinking his teeth into the werewolf’s arm. In normal circumstances, it would have sliced off the hand as an alpha’s bite was extremely powerful but no such thing happened now. The blue werewolf was more powerful than the alpha but it seemed to lose its mind from time to time. It was as if periodically it was being remote controlled by someone else and just moments of self control were granted to it before it was taken over by that other mysterious controller again. Dominic looked at his beta who got the message and quickly as his pack members to ensure that a stampede doesn’t occur and that everybody is taken to a safe place while they dealt with this rogue. Gerald and Patrick began guiding the frightened crowd, taking them away from the battle
“I kept telling myself that it will be okay, that I could always walk away and return the money if I didn’t like what was going on…” Daniel trailed off and his eyes automatically went to Jenny whose face was almost on the verge of crying. She couldn’t keep it together anymore. His face crumpled to see her like that and Dominic patted her head and pulled her in a hug to calm her down. Daniel felt relieved to see that neither of the alphas was hurting her even when they knew that she was their leverage against them. Gerald walked up to him and offered him a glass of water when the rogue moved his hands to his throat and touched the Adam’s apple. After emptying the water glass, he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and continued, “I was taken in and asked to do some mandatory health check-ups that they assured me and the batch of people who had signed up with them…we were taken in a lab of sorts and asked to sleep on a table to take some scan…I do
