Valencia gave him a cursory nod and spoke, “We just ended a small scuffle with the hycwens, we weren’t expecting the Coven head to grace us with his presence.”

She said measuredly while gritting her teeth earning her a smile from the man.

“Oh please, you know I have never been one to be asked for niceties, but every now and then there arises a situation wherein some ignorant cub steps out of line….as is evident in Sricgis.”

Dominic walked inside to see the two talking and tried to small talk. He bowed his head low and said in a polite way, “Greetings, Sir Trecdor. To what pleasure do we owe your presence among us.”

Trecdor’s eyes brightened to see Dominic and he got up from his chair and rushed towards him and embraced him.

“How are you Dom, my boy? It is so good to see you again.”

Trecdor’s back was turned towards Valencia so Dominic tried to ask her if everything was fine, trying to understand why Trecdor had suddenly shown up but sh

The other alphas and werewolves had been waiting outside the Round hall pacing nervously. Olivia was in tears and held Sarah close to herself, who was crying as well. Gerald hugged his family affectionately, the other two kids Elvin and Tom one each in his arm, their little hands around their father’s neck.“Are you okay, sweetie?” He asked Sarah carefully who hadn’t uttered a word since she had returned to them. There had been a look of shock on her little face followed by tears that streamed down her pink cheeks. Sarah didn't speak but continued to sob and Gerald looked at her worriedly.Had something shaken her to the core? Why wouldn’t she speak all of a sudden? While he shot worried glances to his wife, an announcement rang through the hall that was audible even outside.“All the werewolves are to come inside for an emergency meeting right now.”The voice of the Coven's head boomed through the ha

  • The Undead Alpha   A fool's errand

After Mark had said those words, the entire hall fell eerily silent. Never had the judgment of the archon alpha been challenged and never had someone spoken it out loud in a room full of werewolves. Gerald who had been standing silent the entire time clenched his fists and handed over the kids to Olivia. He stepped out from the crowd and asked Mark in a threatening voice, “How dare you even say those words? Have you forgotten the rules we abide by? Challenging the decision of the archon is a grave offense and the repercussions can lead you to lose your life.” Mark gnashed his teeth but instead of talking to Gerald, he walked forward and stood a little farther away from them both. Everybody looked at him with a mixture of surprise and some contempt. He looked at Trecdor and spoke, “Sir, the hycwens have been attacking our pack members for a long time but we always got rid of them. However, now since the birth of the cubs, they seem to have taken

Mark looked around at the group of werewolves, trying to sense the pulse of the room. Now that he had created such a ruckus he couldn't back away, not if he wanted to be known as a coward. His eyes trailed towards his pack that looked like they were confused as to what their alpha was doing. His eyes looked at them with a sort of silent communication, ‘For all of you and for the glory of our pack.’ He then looked at Valencia and Dominic who looked at him as if they would rip him apart then and there. Valencia took the first step and was about to advance towards Mark when out of nowhere, Dominic jumped in the air and changed into his wolf form. When he landed on the ground, he was on all fours, his greyish black fur strikingly contrasting to his emerald green eyes looking menacingly at the other alpha. Wasting no time, Mark too changed into his wolf form, a brownish furred wolf with black eyes staring at the other alpha. They both bared their t

The brown wolf lunged in the air and it looked like he was aiming for the grey one but its eyes glinted with a wickedness that hadn’t been there before. It drew its claws out and opened its jaw as wide as it could. The grey wolf readied itself but the brown one ignored it and touched the floor once before bouncing back in the air.Dominic turned around once in confusion, not knowing where the brown wolf was heading but when he saw Valencia at the far end of the room, anger flared through him.The brown wolf was almost upon Valencia who was taken by surprise but when she called out to her inner wolf and reached for it as you would reach for something in a closet, it came to her. A feeling of joy coursed through her as she turned into a lethal beauty, a white pristine wolf that looked stunning yet dangerous beyond measure. The brown wolf clawed at the white wolf but the white wolf stayed unfazed as it opened its jaw wide and grabbed the other wo

  • The Undead Alpha   A close call

Hearing the Coven head’s voice, Valencia threw a pointed look at Trecdor. She thought he was done with his gimmicks and would now leave in peace and never set his foot in Scrigis again. Turns out she was wrong.Olivia put her kids on the ground and got down on her knees, “Listen, sweeties, please don't be afraid, the archon alpha will look after you. Just stay quiet and never leave her side, okay?”The kids were terrified of the Coven head and what had happened in the Round Hall so far. Though Olivia and Gerald had shielded them from the view by turning them around and making them place their hands on the ears, their sharp werewolf ears had heard the sound of blows and crunching bones.Tears were streaming down their cheeks and they didn't want to leave their parents.Olivia tried to make them feel less anxious, but they didn't want her to leave them alone. As such, she looked at Gerald helplessly, who then turned to the Coven's he

They looked at Valencia who was still wearing the coat given by Dominic. The others were all cowering behind Lewis who had presumably accepted the temporary position of being their leader quite well. She gave him a reassuring look, “Now there is just the six of us, the Coven's head, and all the other werewolves have left. Do you mind telling me what has been troubling your mind?” Valencia tried her best to sound gentle and not be angry. She had been angry and her temper had been flaring all the time, Trecdor was around but now that he was gone, she had relaxed a bit. It looked like he was the sole reason for her to be angsty. Lewis bowed low and spoke hesitantly, “Archon alpha, we...we were taken in recently. Maybe, 6 months ago. We all were a group of friends who were partying and goofing around in Grawd, the human city after our exams were over.” However, one of us, Brandon, he pointed to a boy behind him with jet black hair and similar eyes who was

Valencia blinked so fast that her eyes would have fallen off her face. She couldn't believe her ears and asked him again, “The man who had been standing next to me this whole time? Alpha Castro?” Lewis nodded his head and confirmed though Valencia had a hard time believing him. The tall, lanky boy continued, “He then said that he could tell us to look after our new bodies and he could teach us how to use our strength and avoid being detected by humans.” But then if Dominic had saved them, why would he have sent them under Mark and not taken them in his own pack? What was going on? As questions continued to rake her mind, she was getting more and more curious. How had she not realized what was going on in her territory? Even Dominic hadn’t told her anything about this… Her thoughts were getting murkier but she stopped herself from thinking more. Lewis gulped as his throat seemed to have become dry after speaking for so long, “So, we listened to

Dominic bit his tongue, his thoughts had slipped from his mouth and now Valencia was staring at him, waiting for him to explain. Just how could he explain what she did to him? She was so wild and stubborn and everything he ever wanted… He shook his head as if that would help him get rid of his thoughts, and said, “Nothing. I just helped the kids and…” He trailed off. Valencia had inched closer to him and there was barely any distance between them, “How did I distract you, alpha Castro?” Dominic gulped nervously and stepped back, his mind wouldn't work with her so close to him. One step...two steps...three steps...perfect! After adding enough distance, he continued, “I meant you kept on glaring at me. I didn't tell you about the kids because you were busy with saving Gerald’s children and dealing with the hycwen attacks.” Valencia looked a little hurt at that as the initial fury was replaced with sadness, “Even you think, I won't

Valencia let out a growl on hearing that. “How could you, Trecdor? She is a little girl…all these days…I have been living with the guilt of scaring her and it was you all along?” Trecdor spat at her words in disgust, “Trecdor? Do you dare call me by my name? Where is your respect for the Coven's head?” Valencia meanwhile kept glaring at him, “You lost it when you sent an untrained, tainted werewolf after my niece, you don’t have the right to that seat after what you have been doing to the humans…” Dominic tried to mind link her, “Keep him busy talking, I’ll try to untie the knots holding me to this filthy pillar.” She was startled to hear his voice in her head all of a sudden but Trecdor only took it as the reaction to his betrayal. To goad her further, he added, What use is she to me? Well, if she grows up and is capable of birthing a wolf then she may be of some use…if not, she is a burden on our community…like yo

  • The Undead Alpha   The real culprit

After ensuring that the car was safely hidden out of view, both of them stepped out of it and peered through the gate.Luckily nobody had come running towards the gate when it had creaked loudly. So they believed that it could either mean that whoever was in charge didn’t think that anybody would show up or if they did then they wouldn’t walk out alive. After ensuring that nobody was around using their acute sense of hearing and smell, the two slowly edged inside. There was a lot of abandoned stuff littering around the open space so it proved to be effective in hiding. Thus, they used the empty drums and stuff lying around to hide them while carefully walking inside. The two werewolves kept inching towards the entrance that they hoped would be heavily guarded or at least tripped with wires. But to their surprise, again nothing obstructed their way. It was strange and both of them merely glanced at each other before walking

Running towards him, she turned him around and before he could react, she pulled him by the collar and placed her lips on his. Daniel had not expected her to have such a reaction and he was startled for a moment but soon he gave in to the feeling. He was afraid that she would shun him and was only around him for old time’s sake. The fact that she took the initiative to kiss him dispensed all the worries from his head. His arms went around her and he lifted him from the ground while kissing her back. Jenny smiled and a chuckle escaped her lips to feel him be so elated. His eyes were shining with joy and she could also see a tear or two though he was trying hard to not show it. “I love you” The words escaped his lips automatically and Jenny’s eyes mirrored his emotions. “I have always loved you, Danny,” Jenny replied and the two smiled again. “Now, put me down…” Daniel who was lost in the sensation of

As she kept thinking about this stuff, her feet automatically carried her to the headquarters. She walked inside the headquarters, climbed the stairs, and got to the upper floor where Daniel was sitting on the chair. He looked weak but not as exhausted as before. The guards stationed outside the room bowed their heads at her. “Has he eaten something?” One of the werewolves who were standing away from her bowed his head and answered, “Yes archon, we gave him food and he finished that reluctantly. In fact, he has been asking to meet you. But, we didn’t inform you because we thought it was too early.” She nodded her head in acknowledgment and went inside. Daniel was in a fresh set of clothes, probably Gerald had given her a new set. He even looked to have bathed and not as harrowed as the night before. Daniel had a notebook and a pen in front of him and appeared to be scribbling something. Seeing her enter the room, he got up from his seat and bo

The voice pained him and the icy tone with which she said that to him made him feel like he was punched in the gut. “Why are you doing this?” He asked in an anguished voice. She was still pinned to the bed and his hands were still holding hers. He tightened his hold on her and bent down again to say, “You don’t really mean that, you are saying that to get back at me.” Valencia kept looking at him with the same steady gaze, her eyes didn’t even falter for a second. She was proud of not giving away the roller coaster of emotions coursing through her. “If you think so…” Calhoun’s eyes grew darker and she hoped that he would get away from her the minute he realized that she wasn’t joking. However, he did just the opposite. Instead of getting away from her, he bent down and gave her the steamiest kiss ever. In one swift motion, he put his hands around her, pulled her in a tight embrace, and began eating her lips, devouring her

“Well let’s say fate decided to meddle with her life. She got separated from her parents and had to live on her own….but….she was a strong girl. As such, she decided to not let destiny decide the course of her life, thus she fought against all odds and became a queen from an orphan.” She gave a dry chuckle at that, “you make it look so effortless...” He responded, “I know it isn’t, but I didn’t want to go into the details of the pain and suffering of the girl, she has had her fill.” Valencia closed her eyes and replied, “Hmm…so, where is she now?” Calhoun looked at her face that was shining with innocence and pain. He wanted to kiss her so bad but didn’t want to take advantage of the situation. Thus, he answered, “She is ruling her kingdom all by herself.” “Oh, she doesn’t have a king?” “She could but she doesn’t need anyone I think.” “Well, everybody needs someone at one point or the other…” The words had tumbl

The word made her momentarily forget what she had been about to say. Nobody had called her queen before. Blinking her eyes she said while fumbling, “Yes…I am..” Though her heart had skipped a beat at that, she continued to look at him with defiance. Calhoun closed the distance between them and stood extremely close to her, their faces inches away from each other. “What wouldn’t have happened if I had stayed away?” He asked her again, slowly and steadily and she realized that he had understood that she had not implied the incident with the blue werewolf. A small part of her heart was amazed to see how he had clearly understood her but the other was still fluttering at the way he had called her queen. It felt oddly nice to hear him call her a queen. Scolding herself, she tried to get a grip on herself as even her wolf seemed to be confused now. Earlier, she had loved Dominic but now feeling what Valencia was feeling made her unsu

Dominic muttered and turned into his wolf. Valencia got up from the ground as the rogue motioned ahead and raised his hand to smack her again. But before he could do this, Dominic jumped on him, sinking his teeth into the werewolf’s arm. In normal circumstances, it would have sliced off the hand as an alpha’s bite was extremely powerful but no such thing happened now. The blue werewolf was more powerful than the alpha but it seemed to lose its mind from time to time. It was as if periodically it was being remote controlled by someone else and just moments of self control were granted to it before it was taken over by that other mysterious controller again. Dominic looked at his beta who got the message and quickly as his pack members to ensure that a stampede doesn’t occur and that everybody is taken to a safe place while they dealt with this rogue. Gerald and Patrick began guiding the frightened crowd, taking them away from the battle

“I kept telling myself that it will be okay, that I could always walk away and return the money if I didn’t like what was going on…” Daniel trailed off and his eyes automatically went to Jenny whose face was almost on the verge of crying. She couldn’t keep it together anymore. His face crumpled to see her like that and Dominic patted her head and pulled her in a hug to calm her down. Daniel felt relieved to see that neither of the alphas was hurting her even when they knew that she was their leverage against them. Gerald walked up to him and offered him a glass of water when the rogue moved his hands to his throat and touched the Adam’s apple. After emptying the water glass, he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and continued, “I was taken in and asked to do some mandatory health check-ups that they assured me and the batch of people who had signed up with them…we were taken in a lab of sorts and asked to sleep on a table to take some scan…I do
