That evening, when Carlos came home and entered through the front door, I could easily identify the sound of his keys hitting the table in the hall: that gentle jingle was somewhat reassuring. I was cooking the last dish in the kitchen, but out of the corner of my eye I would look at Pierre sitting over his homework at the dining table. He was so intense , his little eyebrows wrinkle while he is concentrating on his books, and it melodise my heart to see him having great attitude towards his books.

“Hey, buddy!” Carlos greeted Pierre from the foyer with that friendly tone that turned into a smile when he saw us.

Pierre jerked his head up and was grinning from ear to ear. “Daddy!” He exclaimed vehemently, pushing the chair back and rush towards his father. I couldn’t help but smile when I saw them. Carlos got down on his knees and caught Pierre and the embrace was a beautiful sight to behold to the extent that it brought me a measure of satisfaction that I could not re
