Chapter 65

Ethan’s POV

The king’s are going on about uniting the kingdom. All I can think about is Ara. I hope she knows I didn’t stand her up this morning. She’s bound to have noticed that I left with the General.

It’s nearly lunchtime and they are recapping what they had already discussed when I excused myself. I told them I had someone to meet. Despite feeling impolite, I can’t stand her up.

“We’ll talk later,” the General tells me. I’m not concerned with the later. My focus is on the present.

I made my way to the stables. I don’t see Ara, but I see John. He knows I am Ara’s mate. “You here to talk to her?” He enquires.

“Yes. But she seems like she's always busy, so I'm considering tying her to a chair to talk to me.” He laughs. “That may be the only way.” He goes to walk away. But turns around, “I will pick Brandon up from kindergarten. Take as long as you need. Just convince her she needs you.” He smirks at me. I don’t know how to respond to that.

“Mate.”
