Chapter 22

Eden’s POV

Nix, Lottie, and Maddox left yesterday morning. I worked alongside Ara in the kitchen in the morning and mucked out the stables during the day. It was hard work. It took me longer to do, seeing that Nix wasn’t there to help or motivate me. But I said I would try to be better and I am definitely going to try. I may not succeed, but I will try. That is what he asked for.

I had lunch with Ara yesterday. She is actually really nice once you get to know her. Her true loyalty is to her son. She works hard so he can have a better life. It’s admirable. Working alongside her has made me realize how much I have taken for granted all of my life.

Once I showered yesterday, I went to find my brothers. I’m thinking of learning how to defend myself. I had a feeling they would laugh at me, but I also knew they would also help me. But when I found them, they were helping uncle Rayne with the Royal Guard’s preparations.
