“Alicia, wait up.” Darius’s wolf chased Alicia down the woods. The cloud was grey and heavy with rain. Alicia had initiated a running contest as if she could outrun the crown prince. Outrunning Darius was almost impossible. He was strong and fast; his family was the strongest and largest wolves in the kingdom and even in neighboring kingdoms.
Alicia had been mated to Darius. A week after the death of Rochelle. The news of Rochelle’s death had not gone unnoticed. There had been whispers. Whispers of murder. The market square traders and farmers had carried the gossip. The gossip said that Darius had strangled Rochelle in her sleep because she wasn’t a virgin. To Darius, the claims were laughable and unreasonable. But his father, Alpha Cyrus had not taken it lightly. He had demanded the heads of anyone who dared to spread such outrageous rumors about his son again. That was enough to seal the villager’s lips. And one week after, they had gathered again at the palace, this time, the maidens that were on display were more than the first time. A total of 32 young she-wolves were brought before the crown prince. The palace spiritual lead had performed some sanctification on all 32 of them and he vetted 27 of them as pure, worthy, and without blemish.Like the first ceremony, the ladies had come before Darius and Cyrus. Presenting themselves. Halfway through the ceremony, Darius had caught Alicia’s scent. And it had been easy to trace. Alicia was the tallest of all the girls, she looked very athletic. Her hips were very wide, enough to bear future alphas. She wasn’t a maiden in distress, she was strong. And her scent appealed to his senses. He didn’t have to look too deep into her eyes before realizing that she was the one. It turned out, his father was right. He had a long line of mates he could successfully pick from. His ancestors had been generous lovers.Darius had tried to stay away from Alicia. To not have any sexual intercourse with her, until the wedding day. But she was a seductive temptress and the mate bond was too strong. It literally itched him. But he had held his cool. The wedding had been set to happen by the next full moon which was just three weeks away. He was going to wait.
That was his plan, until Alicia showed up unannounced at the palace steps, one week after the mating ceremony.Darius had come down quickly to greet her, she came with a basket of fruits.“Alicia, I wasn’t expecting you.” Those were the words that had come out of his mouth as soon as he laid his eyes on her.“My prince, I wanted to surprise you.” She curtsied graciously before him, holding her large ball gown by one hand, and her basket by the other hand.Darius beamed. “What a pleasant surprise.” He had said.“Would you like to go for a walk? A picnic maybe? I brought some fruits, but I doubt that my wolf would want any of this. My wolf needs a rabbit. Would you like to join us?” she had batted her eyelids and drawn her long face into a pout. It wasn’t the most beautiful look that Darius had seen but Darius’s ego was swept up. As an alpha, one of the things that always got him in a good mood was having his ego massaged. So he couldn’t say no to her request. But Darius had taken some form of safety measure, he had summoned his beta, Adolf to go with them. Adolf was to keep a respectable distance. With Adolf there, it would have been impossible to get intimate with Alicia. But then, Alicia started running. She shifted to wolf form and was creating a wide gap between them. Darius called out to her again, “wait up Alicia,” she didn’t obey. And so, just like her, Darius shifted too and ran after her. Adolf did the same and the three ran into the woods that surrounded the palace.
Even though Alicia had started her run, three minutes before Darius and Adolf, Darius got to her in less than a minute. He slowed down a little, allowing her to run some more so he could chase her again, and it worked. She kept running. Darius followed her again but didn’t slow down. He pounced on her and the couple tumbled through the hill and down to the river banks. Their bodies getting dirty with mud.Darius had his left paw on Alicia’s chest, he had overpowered her.She rolled off from beneath him and shifted back to human. Darius shifted too. Followed by Adolf.“You ruined my dress,” Alicia kicked at him with her hands throwing her fists at him.“Hey,” he tried to dodge them. Darius knew that she was flirting with him, and the wolf in him couldn’t take it anymore. His eyes turned green, just the way they did whenever he was about to have sex. But Adolf stepped up to him with a small cough,“My prince,” without the need to say any words, Adolf reminded Darius of the reason why he had come along.“Even my hair is ruined,” Alicia whined again. “I’m going to wash off in the river,” she informed them and she walked towards the river. She started to take off her dress, but she was unable to reach the ropes at the back of her dress. Her hand maid had knotted them a little too tight.“I need help over here,” Alicia called out and Darius went to her immediately.“I need help with my dress. Could you please undo my ropes?” she pointed her finger to the back of her dress.Gently and with fine skills, Darius loosened the ropes on her dress, one strand after the other. His fingers grazed on her skin, tickling her.“Stop it, my prince,” she knocked his hands out and turned to him “I can undo the rest” she giggled.“If you say so.” Darius bowed jokingly and stepped aside. Then Alicia took of the rest of her dress, every single piece of clothing fell to the ground. Including her panties, which were held by two tiny ropes on both sides. Alicia stood before him, entirely naked.
Adolf caught the sight and looked away immediately. It was an abomination for him to gaze upon the future queen and Luna of the Lakewood kingdom. Even a little glimpse was an abomination. So, Adolf turned his gaze away quickly and he took some steps back.“stop it, Alicia, please cover up your body,” Darius warned. He was worried that Adolf had seen her nakedness. He moved to her quickly and grabbed her dress from the wet sand.“I need to wash off my prince,” she said all the while toying with her hair, rolling the strands around her lips.”Darius’s eyes turned green, this time, the shade of green was two shades darker. “Alicia, you are tempting me, remember our agreement? We are going to wait till after the wedding.” His deep voice turned hoarse.“I know my prince. I remember our agreement. I am trying to hold myself. My wolf spirit must have been a temptress while she was alive. But I promise I wouldn’t let you have me, not until the wedding night.”Darius’s breathing deepened as he gazed upon her naked body. She had the longest legs, and her belly mirrored that of a fish, it was almost inverted.Alicia dusted of some imaginary dirt on Darius’s hair, “would you like to wash off with me? Your hair is a mess too.” She invited him, in the softest voice ever. How could he say no? How could any man say no? how could any wolf say no? to her request, especially when she presented it that way? So he gave in.“just a quick shower and nothing more.” He reminded her.She nodded.Darius started to take off his clothes, his shoes and Adolf spotted him from the side of his eyes. “my prince,” Adolf barked, his back still turned against them, Adolf couldn’t afford to look at them because of Alicia, she was still naked. So he cautioned his Alpha and prince while his back was still turned.“Relax Adolf, it’s just a quick rinse in the water,” Darius assured Adolf. The lovers held each other’s hands and walked into the water. Then Darius pulled her close, he had already gathered all the willpower he could muster, he wasn’t intending to make love to her. He simply drew her in with his right hand and their bodies touched, her breasts resting on his broad shoulders. He felt her warmth, and then suddenly she started to sink, into the water. He held her hands with his and he tried to pull her up but the more he tried, the deeper she went into the water.“Help,” Alice screamed. She was struggling to get out of the water as well. Darius pulled her, with all his strength. He was a very strong wolf but his energy couldn’t stand whatever was pulling Alicia into the water.“ADOLF!” Darius roared for his beta.Adolf turned around, his eyes scanned what was going on and the protector in him took charge. All abominations be damned! He was going to help his friend. He charged into the river and held onto Alicia too. With all his valor, Adolf grabbed Alicia’s other hand and pulled. The two men tried to pull her. Men who had fought in battles, men who were a part of the strongest wolf pack in the country, pulled Alicia, a 5 foot 9 inches female mate to the Alpha and crowned prince of the Lakewood kingdom. But they failed. The water took over. The friends watched in dismay as the water carried Alicia away. They say that the enemies of a man are the members of his household; No truer words could ever have been said about Cyrus and his household. As soon as the news about Alicia got to the palace, Gedoni had ridden fiercely, without any stops to the enemies clan, the Rosewood Clan. They were a pack of wolves that governed a rebellious territory. A territory that had stood against Cyrus for years, threatening to take over his throne. They had been waiting for an opportunity and Gedoni, just like his father was ready to give them one. Gedoni’s father had failed at the coup he planned, but Gedoni had no intention of failing. He wanted the throne and the news of the death of two future Lunas was enough for him to overthrow his brother.Gedoni had served his brother, rebelliously for years, waiting for the perfect opportunity. And it had simply fallen into his laps.“Gedoni,” The leader of the Rosewood moon pack barked out his name, immediately
Alpha Darius called on Sule and Adolf. Sule was his father’s beta. He had stood and fought majestically with Cyrus, but Gedoni’s army was too strong. They had taken Cyrus into their custody. They had come for blood and had gotten it.Crowned prince, Darius was in a state of confusion when he summoned the men to the inner chambers. The chamber was where the king held his inner meeting with his trusted advisors. Now, the Lakewood kingdom was without a king, they needed to swear one in immediately. The kingdom was bound to fall apart if there wasn’t a defined leader. Gedoni’s men had retreated but they were coming back. Darius had to prepare. There was one major problem though, one that couldn’t be overlooked. Darius didn’t have a mate, which caused issues on two levels. One, he needed a mate to lead the Lakewood moon pack. The wolves couldn’t submit to an Alpha leader who didn’t have a Luna.Secondly, he couldn
“I need you to answer me, Sule. What is it you are hiding?” Darius stood eyeball to eyeball, facing Sule. He was desperately trying to restrain himself. His temper was fast-rising and his wolf was threatening to burst out.Sule noticed, so he took another inch to the side, away from the prince’s side. Then he spoke up, “I believe a series of events have happened. We ignored them when they started but right now, I am pretty certain it’s the curse.”Darius grunted and clenched his fist and then Sule continued, “I believe the curse affected your late mother. Our queen and Luna. She died while giving birth to your twin brother and yourself.”Darius processed the information, and shook his head vigorously, “common Sule, my twin and I were too large, and we pressed her at the same time. Birthing us would be a huge task for any wolf, curse or not. I don’t believe it.”Sule nodded. And then he continued,
Emelda joined her grandmother, Yemanja in the living room. Yemanja was seated by the fireplace, her legs wrapped in a huge duvet. Emelda had just gotten back from the woods but had told her grandmother something different. She had lied to her grandmother about her location but by the look on Yemanja’s face as Emelda approached, she could tell that her grandma had already caught her in the lie.“so how was your visit to Calista?” Yemanja eyed Emelda. Calista was Emelda's friend, she was a wolf, not a hybrid like Emelda.“It was great. She sends her greetings. She could have come with me but she had to shop from the market.”“so you truly believe I don know where you are coming from?” Yemanja raised her eyebrows, “I don’t need to be a witch to know, your dress is a mess, and I can see some dirt in your hair.”“I was with Calista, I promise.” Emelda smiled. She was saying the truth, she had been
Emelda raised her eyebrow, her grandmother had just called the crown prince by his first name. Did she not realize the gravity of such a level of disrespect? In her thoughts, Emelda secretly wished that the prince had not noticed.“I have come for you, Yemanja. You are to answer for your crimes. Seize her.” Alpha Darius backed and the other two men that had come with him moved towards Yemanja.Yemanja laughed, her voice loaded with arrogance. Then Yemanja screamed out an enchantment, her fragile voice sending waves around the house, “LUCIDIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA,” One word and the three men including Alpha Darius were on the ground. They sprung back up and charged towards Yemanja who was still sitting on her chair, her legs raised.Emelda ran to stop them before they could reach Yemanja. Emelda stood in front of her grandmother, she raised both hands and started out a series of incantations, inching towards
“Throw her in the dungeon,” Darius commanded his men. They had reached the palace minutes after leaving Yemanja’s house. The men dragged Emelda through an underground opening and into an abandoned part of the palace. As the men dragged her in, Emelda could smell the place, it was covered with the stench of wolves. It was an old smell but she could still pick it. The smell carried a mix of blood, sweat, and tears.Emelda scanned the quarters as the men yanked her through the hallway. The quarters had several rooms and most of them, looked scary. the rooms had heavy gates mounted at each entrance. She could see stones, cuffs, and chains. It looked like a torture house and fear gripped her. What was this place? And what was it used for?The two men holding on to her threw her on the floor and her body scrapped the bare floor. She winced in pain but they didn’t seem to notice and even if they did, they didn’t care much. They closed the gate o
Alpha Darius strolled from one end of his chambers to the other. He had gotten the witch’s granddaughter, he intended to use her as a pawn to get Yemanja to withdraw her curse. But it had been two days and it hadn’t been reversed. Word had reached him that his uncle, Gedoni, and his men were advancing towards Lakewood.Earlier that morning, a spy had come running to him. Prince Darius had placed spies in the four corners of the kingdom. They were to watch the areas and to report to him immediately if anything was wrong or out of place. The spy at the south end had rushed to him, out of breath. Gedoni had been sighted approaching the kingdom. It was going to take Gedoni a couple of days to reach him but still, Darius was uneasy. He didn’t like the odds.So that morning, after the spy had informed him about Gedoni’s sighting, Darius had sent some men to bring Yemanja to him.The men had brought in the old with and they threw her on the floo
Emelda watched the guard leave. She waited for a few extra minutes before taking off the invincible armor which she had worn. She poured herself some soup from her pot and went on to have her meal.Yes, Emelda had used her powers to carry out a makeover in her cell, a makeover that no one could see, including the chief priest. Because of how powerful she was, she had been able to create an alternate existence right inside her cell. Emelda had a giant bed, a heater, a bathroom with scented soaps, and everything else she would need. She even sprayed some scented oils around the edges of the damp cell wall. She was as comfortable as she could be.A bird came in every morning, fetching her fresh fruits and vegetables. She could live on that for as long as possible, so she wasn’t in any hurry. What she wanted to do, was to perform a three-circle ritual, an act that could bring down the palace within minutes. But her mother’s words kept ringing in her
After the death of her mother, Yemanja had been the sole guardian for Emelda and the two had bonded in deep ways over the past years. If there was anyone who knew what Yemanja was up to and what she was capable of- that person would be Emelda. But there was one thing that Emelda still struggled to get used to even after all the years she spent with her grandma and that was the ability to have her grandma cutting right to the chase.Yemanja wasn't the person who would beat around the bush or who struggled with words. She always went right to the point and even after all these years, that attitude from Yemanja still surprised Emelda. And it was the same surprise that took over Emelda the minute her grandmother asked her the direct question. But instead of answering the question, Emelda tried to avoid it. And the only way she knew how to avoid the question was to tell a lie.“Yes, grandma. That was why I left the palace. I couldn't stomach what w
Emelda sat on a little stool in her grandma’s kitchen as Yemanja put on a pot of soup on the stove. There was an awkward silence growing between them and soon, Emelda found herself drawing little imaginary circles with her index finger all over her grandmother’s kitchen table.Yemanja had her back turned to Emelda but she could almost tell what was going on. The energy from Emelda was consuming and Yemanja didn't need to be an all-powerful witch to notice it.“What troubles you, my child?” Yemanja asked as she stirred her soup slowly with the wooden spatula in her hands.“Nothing!” Emelda shrugged and sighed at the same time.Slowly, Yemanja placed the spatula aside and turned to Emelda. She stared at her granddaughter keenly as she wiped her hands with the kitchen napkin.“Don't lie to me, child. You know we have been through a lot these past few months. I do not want there to be any secrets between us. Yo
Yemanja was at the back of her house, tending to her garden when she heard a noise that resembled the sound of a carriage. Slowly, Yemanja placed her garden fork on the ground as she closed her eyes and listened closely. At first, she had thought the carriage was passing through her house but she soon realized she was wrong when the noise from the carriage stopped in front of her house.Gently, Yemanja pulled herself from the ground and dusted her dry hands on the front of her apron. She straightened her back and walked to the front of her small house, using the sidewalk.“Grandma.” Yemanja heard the excited voice before seeing who it was but she didn't need to see who the person was to realize that it was her granddaughter, Emelda.“Emelda,” Yemanja called her granddaughter’s name in the same excited tone as Emelda had called hers.Emelda came down from the carriage and ran to her grandmother’s side, throwing her s
All the guests started to exit as well, starting from the royalties that were seated on the front rows, and soon, the hall which had been filled to the brim was suddenly empty. The crowd marched to the battle filled and Cyrus took a seat on the podium. There were five seats on the podium and Lucius helped Emelda to one of the seats as he and Darius took the next two seats beside her. There was only one seat left on the podium and Sir Sule joined them on the stage, seated close to his King and Alpha, Cyrus.“Bring in the traitors,” Cyrus commanded and the gates of the battlefield opened up.Six hefty men dragged in the traitors- Gedoni, Tobias, and Barroc. Holding each of them by their arms and aggressively they flung them on the floor, right there in front of the podium.Cyrus got up from his seat and took a few steps till he reached the edge of the podium. With utmost disgust, his eyes turned from one man to the other as the men loo
Minutes after Darius, Lucius, and Emelda entered the hall, the ceremony began with a short cleansing session performed by the chief priest. The hall was filled with royalties from all the nearby kingdoms who paid their allegiances to the Lakewood Kingdom. The presence of the kings, queens, princes, and princesses could not go unnoticed. Everyone felt the presence of the distinguished guests as they all took their seats ceremoniously. But more than the royalty, another group that stood out, even more, were the different werewolf packs that had turned up for the event. The hall was equally loaded with different Alphas to Betas and down to Omegas. Anyone who was considered as an important personality, werewolf, human, or witch, was present for the greatest ceremony of all time.It wasn't every time that king and Alpha got to take the throne a second time, it was a historic event. One that had never occurred before and anyone who had the privilege of getting an invite
Darius noticed Emelda and Lucius walking towards the door to the hall even before they saw him. It was a mere thirty seconds of watching them-her to be precise but that was enough time for Darius to take in every inch of Emelda’s beauty. She was beautiful and even more graceful as she walked towards the door to the hall where the ceremony was being held and Darius could very well see that the Palace life suited her perfectly. It seemed like she had been born for royalty and he couldn't help but appreciate her gratefulness. But then, he was reminded of the awkward position he was in with her by how his chest tightened and his breath almost seized. In an instant, Darius had gone from admiring her to feeling like his very essence was being choked out of him. It all happened so quickly and even though Darius hadn’t meant for it to happen, he found his eyes wandering towards her, and the next thing, their eyes were locked!Emelda on the other hand, locked eyes w
“How did he try to fix it?” Emelda asked Lucius. patiently, Lucius explained how Darius had gone to the Silverlake kingdom in an attempt to get the antidote for her. Emelda listened patiently as he explained everything to her but still, the pain in her heart wouldn't go away. She wanted to let it go but was finding it difficult to do so. Her heart was heavy and by the time Lucius was done with an explanation of what occurred between Darius and the weird king, she had to tell him how she still felt. “I hear everything you're saying Lucius but it hasn't helped in easing the pain I feel,” she admitted. Lucius squeezed her hand in his, “time will tell Emelda. Time will heal your wounds. I don't want you to go around with a grudge in your heart, you can see how that affected your grandmother,” he cautioned. Emelda nodded because what Lucius said to her made absolute sense. Nursing a grudge could lead to dangerous emotions that could lead to drastic
The council of chiefs headed by sir Theo had now put together a ceremony that was supposed to reinstate Cyrus as the king and Alpha of the Lakewood kingdom and the Lakewood moon pack and the morning of the ceremony had arrived. Before then, the crew that had been sent to the Silver lake kingdom had successfully recovered the weird king and he was locked up in a cell in the basement alongside Gedoni and Tobias. The royal advisers had agreed to their execution and that was the hallmark of the ceremony. The three traitors were going to be executed by Cyrus after he got crowned as king again. But before the ceremony started, Emelda and Lucius were tucked away in Lucius’s bedroom.“what are you going to do after this?” Emelda asked him with hope in her eyes. A Lot had changed for Lucius ever since he became a wolf, he was a different person of some sort. He seemed more in control of himself and his mood had gotten better a hundred percent. Lucius was already a ha
“What do you intend to do about it?” Adolf continued his conversation with Darius. Adolf could still remember the last time that Darius had admitted to having feelings for Emelda and it had been on their way to Silver lake kingdom while they had been searching for a cure. Adolf could still remember how Darius had been embarrassed by admitting to having feelings for his brother’s feelings and looking at Darius now, Adolf could not see any trace of embarrassment. Darius was serious about his feelings and Adolf could almost tell that Darius was going to do something about it. “I don’t know what I am going to do, Adolf. But the truth is that Emelda hates me. We had a fight the last time we spoke, that was before the battle for the throne. She had come to me with the hopes of convincing me to step away from the battle and I had turned her down.” “Hate is a strong word you know, I doubt if Emelda could hate anyone. Not even you,” Adolf encouraged. Darius sh
