It is because of this wisdom that Alpha Darius was a little bit resistant. He wasn’t as enthusiastic as he would have ordinarily been about what King Barroc was telling him and he had his reasons.
Until recently, only some of the members of the royal family knew about Yemanja’s curse, and even for those who knew about it, it had been a matter that wasn’t talked about. And so the curse and its effects had faded to the background. Not until recently when things started to get a little bit clearer did they know that Yemanja’s curse had indeed been real.
So, it wasn’t out of place for Darius to have his suspicions as King Barroc poured out details of a curse that only a few people knew about.

“What did he want?” Adolf asked Darius.Darius had returned from King Barroc’s carriage to join the other werewolves. Some of them had already gone back to their various homes but some were still around.Adolf couldn’t wait to ask his Alpha, Darius, what was going on.Even before King Barroc had introduced himself, Adolf had already recognized him because he carried a staff that was peculiar to him alone. Adolf could recognize that staff anywhere. He had never met Barroc before but his father had told him all about the ‘weird king’ because that is what Barroc was known as. Adolf’s father had even shown him pictures of the staff that king Barroc likes to carry around.Adolf couldn’t remember all the stories he had been told but one thing that stayed with him was the fact that the king was known to be a double-crosser and it was always good to stay away from him. Many of the kings, both pas
Someone knocked on Emelda’s bedroom door and she asked the person to come in. Emelda was standing by the window with Lucius by her side. They had been trying to reach Darius but had been told that he went for a run with some of the werewolves. And so Emelda and Lucius had to wait for him till he returned. They needed to speak with him about the latest plan that they had come up with and they hoped that he would join them in the plan.Little did they know that Alpha Darius had already been cornered by the weird king and he had already agreed with him on another plan.“Come in,” Emelda invited whoever it was that was knocking on her bedroom door in.“Your highness,” it was one of the royal guards and he SALUTED Lucius before turning to Emelda to greet her also, “madame,” he bowed a little.“Tell me, is my brother back to the palace?” Lucius asked. They had instructed the guard to inform them as soon
Emelda walked into Darius’s room with a heart filled with uncertainty. She and Lucius had come up with this plan and they needed Darius to be on board with it. And the truth was that Emelda honestly believed that this was the best solution. None of them would fight. And none of them would die. Darius had gone to sit at the edge of his bed and Emelda was standing just by the door. Emelda noted his features and the guard had been right, Darius was in a bad mood and she could see it written all over him. “what is it that brings you into my bedroom?” Darius finally asked and Emelda turned to him. she had noticed how he dragged the last word, BEDROOM and she knew that he was teasing her. But she didn’t care much. This was a serious matter to her and she was
“BOTH OF US?” Darius said at the top of his voice.“Yes,” Emelda replied, “I need both of you to be alive,” she repeated.
Emelda was not surprised at Darius’s command, she had seen how the conversation had already started getting out of hand. She had known that it wasn’t going to be easy to get him to go along with the plan but she had secretly hoped that she could get him to.Emelda’s intentions were pure when she had told Darius that she didn’t want either of them to die, he nor Lucius and it was sad that Darius did not believe her.Darius had misinterpreted the situation and thought that she wasn’t being genuine so Emelda wanted to show him how genuine she was.She wanted him to see it with his own eyes, to feel it and she knew how to do that. There was this small spell Emelda had learned as a child and her grandmother, Yemanja had been the one who taught her about it. The spell was pretty easy to do and didn’t take much. She only had to whisper a few words and touch someone and the person she touched could feel her intentions.
“What took you so long,” Lucius’s face was turned up in worry and the reason for that was fairly obvious. He had watched as Emelda had gone to see Darius and he had been waiting for her to get back but she had taken longer than he had expected.A lot had gone through Lucius’s mind as he waited for Emelda to get back and it had taken all the patience in the world to stop him from going to get her himself. Before leaving, Emelda had told him about the vision she had shared with Darius and even though it had come as a shock to him initially, his mind had relaxed again. But then, she had gone to Darius’s bedroom and it was taking her forever to come back, and in that time, Lucius's thoughts had imagined the worst-case scenario that was possible.“I’m sorry,” Emelda apologized. She didn’t know what she was apologizing for but she felt the need to say the words. She felt pity for Lucius, he had been through so
It was a rainy Friday morning in the Lakewood kingdom. The rains had come down in full force and they had not stopped for at least four hours. The clouds were as dark as night and the sun was nowhere in sight. The people of the Lakewood kingdom were ready for a historic moment, they had waited in anticipation for this day and it was finally here.It seemed like the universe and all nature had prepared for this day but most importantly, the goddess of the moon was also prepared. She was the one who was being credited for the darkness that ruled in the sky.It was the day for the battle of the throne.A day that had been the most talked-about in the past few weeks. The battle for the throne was on everybody’s lips. From the werewolves to the witches, and the humans. Everyone had something to say about the battle. The palace staff were busier than usual, the kitchen was bubbly, the guards were sterner and even the maids were seen to be cleaning
Even though it looked like Emelda was just hatching up on this plan, a part of her knew that she had been preparing for it already. She had not made up her mind before but she had gotten ready just in case the opportunity presented itself. And to Emelda, the opportunity had come. this was the time to do it. it was now or never.Previously, Emelda had taken one piece of Darius’s personal belonging and one piece of Lucius’s personal belonging. For Lucius, it had been easy to grab and she had simply taken one of his toothbrushes. One thing that Lucius had in excess of, was toothbrushes. She didn’t know why and she had never bothered t ask him but Lucius kept a stash of almost a dozen toothbrushes and he wasn’t going to notice if she took one.But Darius had been a little more difficult to get a hold of. But she had been successful at that too. While in Darius’s bedroom, Emelda had grabbed his singlet from the floor and she had qu
