Athena was surprised when she saw Esperanza and when their eyes met; all she remembered were the things she told her in the restroom about Sean. She glanced away, trying to get herself in check. She had wanted to leave the other party because she couldn’t bear staying in the same room with her for tonight again and had been glad when they finally left, even though she left before them but seeing her now, and realizing that she had been sitting with Sean earlier before they arrived made her uncomfortable.
