Stormie-

“I don’t think you need to worry about Stormie anymore.” Landon said to whoever he was on the phone with.

I wasn’t close enough to hear who he was talking to. I was in plain sight, but quickly and quietly, I moved behind an oversized plant. Now covered by the plant, I moved a leaf slightly to see Landon, but hopefully, he couldn’t see me if he turned.

“No, I don’t think she will. We had dinner together, and she said she would renounce the Pack.” Landon responded, but I wish I could hear who he was talking to.

“Can I help you, Miss?” Someone spoke from behind me.

Thinking quickly to make the person leave so I could finish listening, I shook my head and craned my neck to look at the hotel staff. “I think my boyfriend is cheating on me, so I want to get proof.” I whispered.

“Okay.” She also responded in a low voice, smiling slightly before walking away.

Once I was alone, I returned my attention to Landon. He was now facing the direction of the hotel, but I couldn’t tell if he ha

Stormie-After lying down to go to bed that night, I considered Jaz’s suggestion but couldn’t reach a conclusion. The following morning, I decided not to concern myself with it. For now, I will focus on my current life and stabilize myself. I was sure that, in time, my memories would return. After Jaz and I were packed and ready to leave, I followed Jaz to the parking lot. I expected that her vehicle would be small, but I was surprised to see a large black Jeep. It looked identical to the one Alpha Axel had been driving when I was released from the hospital.“Is this your Jeep?” I asked as I helped her load our luggage in the back.“Why do you ask?” Jaz almost dropped the bag she was loading, and her voice sounded a little weird.“My Alpha has a similar Jeep. I was wondering if you had a connection with him.”“Oh.” It was hard to miss the nervous shakiness in her voice. “There are a lot of people with this Jeep. My boyfriend’s friend is letting me use his since I don’t have a vehicle

Stormie-When I arrived to deliver the towel, there was a slight scent of blood. With the sound of the shower running, I rushed in without much thought other than making sure the guest was okay. I worried that perhaps they had fallen in the shower.Just as I enter, the water is turned off, and the shower door opens. I am immediately met with Axel’s naked body. He stepped out of the shower, not the slightest bit embarrassed that I rushed in. When he started toward me, my eyes betrayed me.Watching as the water cascaded down his body, I swallowed my saliva. I followed a single droplet of water from his collarbone as it slid down his muscular chest and over his taut abdominal muscles. My tongue flicked out to lick my now dry lips as I imagined myself sliding my tongue across the trail of water from that single droplet. When the droplet merged with another drop of water, it moved faster down his body. Only when it reached his hips did I snap back to reality. The moment he stepped in front

Stormie-Pacing outside Axel’s hotel room for a few moments, I debated how to face him. I left this morning in a rush, but now I am back. To say I was embarrassed was the least of my worries. Would he laugh at me when he sees that I have returned?Knowing I couldn’t avoid him forever, I lifted my hand to knock on the door. Before my knuckles touched the door, I quickly pulled my hand back. What was I thinking? Walking from the door, I thought about begging another worker to handle Axel. I wouldn’t mind paying them the money I have earned from tips the last few days.“Forget it.” I mumbled as I turned to face the door once more. “I am not someone who gives up when things are difficult.”Walking toward the door, I lifted my hand again to knock on it. My hand hesitated an inch from the door. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath. Without opening my eyes, I forced my hand to move. My knuckles hit against the door a few times.“Who is it?” Axel’s voice was muffled, but it sounded like he w

Axel- While I ate, my eyes tracked Stormie’s every move as she cleaned the kitchen again. I wanted to ask her to eat with me, but I didn’t want to push it. Since she lost her memory, this was the first time I have made progress with her. Had I known that all I had to do was get hurt, I would have turned into a fool in front of her. I would have constantly hurt myself, even if that meant falling over my own two feet. I felt terrible that I had made her job a little more complicated than it should be, but at least she had spent most of the day with me. Smiling, I looked at the bowl of soup in front of me. It has been a long time since I have eaten food she has prepared. She made nutritional vegetables and chicken soup, which made me think she cared about me. “When you finish eating, I will prepare something for you to eat later this evening.” Stormie’s tone was softer than usual, making me feel more secure. At this rate, she might even give me a chance to explain what happened. As s

Stormie-I was still half asleep when I entered Axel’s hotel room the following morning. My thoughts kept me up most of the night. Although I thought about things all night, I could still not make sense of everything. At this rate, I wondered how long it would take to get locked up at an insane asylum. It wasn’t a matter of if but rather when. When I alerted Axel that I had arrived to clean the hotel this morning, I was glad he didn’t answer. The bedroom door was open, and it didn’t seem like he had slept in the bed. Thinking it was best that I didn’t interact with him today, I started cleaning the living room.Doing my best not to let my thoughts run wild, I focused on wiping everything down until it shined. After I was done with that room, I went into the kitchen. I was surprised to see it had already been cleaned, and the dirty dishes he used after I left had already been washed and put up. It wasn’t until I moved into the bedroom that I realized I had felt like something was off

Axel-Setting my bowl aside, I grabbed Stormie’s hand. She didn’t pull away, except she did seem troubled as her eyes dropped to our joined hands. When I noticed she kept chewing on her lip, I reached toward her with my free hand.Gently grabbing her chin, my thumb slid across her lower lip. Stormie lifted her gaze to meet mine, with her mouth dropping open. We stared at each other for a long time until she pulled her head back and cleared her throat.“I might not remember what happened, but I feel regretful toward you.” Stormie’s voice was shaky like she was on the verge of tears.“What happened wasn’t your fault. You don’t need to feel apologetic or like you owe me anything.” As I spoke, her eyes brimmed with tears. As soon as I find the ones responsible for her suffering, I will make them regret crossing paths with me. Anger slowly built inside me, but I cut it off at the source. I didn’t want Stormie to feel upset or see that I was angered by anything. Since this was progress betw

Stormie-After Axel left, I returned to my room. For a few hours, I tried to do a little research on what had happened during the time I couldn’t remember, but nothing came out of it. I planned to talk to Jaz but decided it could wait until the next day.Jaz returned to the hotel room, half asleep. It had been just after seven when she returned. When I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep, I wrote a note to inform Jaz I wanted to take a walk. I added that I might go to the bar to get something to eat.Sticking it to her door, I left the room quietly. As soon as I was outside, I took a deep breath. The wind was crisp with a scent that reminded me of snow. Shoving my hands into the pockets of my coat, I wondered if it was going to snow tonight. With no real direction, I walked absentmindedly. I tried to gather my thoughts, but it was as if my brain had been fried. Maybe I just needed to stop worrying about things and let myself relax for a change. Stressing about everything wasn’t helping m

Stormie-After taking on each man in a fight, I thought I was winning. I don’t know how I picked up such fighting skills, but I was not complaining. Now, I needed to find my ticket away from them. Even if I was able to keep them at bay, I was still outnumbered. As long as they don’t attack simultaneously, I should be able to hold them back while I plan my escape. My thoughts came too soon, however, because suddenly, three of the men came at me. I wasn’t able to dodge all three of them. One came at me from the front while the other two grabbed my arms. Using them for leverage, I kicked both legs up, nailing the man in front, in the chin. He was thrown onto his back, hard enough that he let out a wheezing breath.“I will make you pay for that!” The man I kicked growled as he slowly got off the ground. When he came at me again, I used the same tactic and swung my legs up. This time, he caught my legs as another man came to help. No matter how hard I tried to pull away from them, I was po

Axel- Sitting at a table in a holding cell meant for visitations, Stormie and I waited for a guard to bring Landon in. Considering Landon had been involved in harming Stormie, I wasn’t about to let him near her without enforced supervision. After waiting for five minutes, the door to the cell opened, and Landon was guided inside with his wrists and ankles handcuffed. Once Landon was sat down and chained to the chair, I waited and watched to see what would happen. I didn’t have much to say to Landon, as I never planned to forgive him entirely. Until he could prove himself worthy, I would always regard him as a danger to Stormie. I was only here to give my mate the support she needed. I noticed that even as Landon sat across from Stormie, he avoided her gaze. Stormie, on the other hand, stared at Landon for a long time. Neither of them said anything, and I wondered if we would sit here silently for the entire hour. “I am sorry.” Landon mumbled forty-five minutes later. Stormie kept

Stormie-“Is it because I am the Alpha King?” He chuckled.Feeling a knot in my stomach, I tentatively nodded, my hand instinctively reaching up to rub the back of my neck. “A little.”“When I met your mother, she pretended to be human. When she was pregnant, she left me a note telling me that she was pregnant but had to return home. I tried to find her, but it was like she vanished off the earth and then reappeared with you and your sister. She vanished into thin air before I could ask her where she had been. I realized that nothing about her was simple. After I lost the two of you, I stopped searching for your mother and focused on finding you.”Feeling like this was a lot to take in all at once, I wanted to change the topic. “I am sure I will have more questions, but we can slowly get to know each other over time. Why don’t we head to the cemetery now?”Axel stood and helped me to my feet just as my father stood. Still a little nervous, I grabbed Axel’s hand as we headed toward the

Stormie-When I went to the living room after my shower, Axel was pacing the floor. Before letting him know I was done, I watched him for a few seconds. He kept mumbling something as he paced, but I couldn’t hear what he was saying. He kept rubbing his hands together, and his eyes were drawn to the ground.“Axel?” I approached him slowly. His movements stopped as his head snapped up. Like a deer caught in the headlights, he stared at me before rushing toward me. I couldn’t help but flinch when he suddenly grabbed me by the shoulders and steered me toward the couch. Forcing me to sit down, he resumed pacing.“What is wrong?” I asked, starting to feel anxious.Rapidly, he stopped pacing and sat beside me on the couch. His body was angled toward me, and I could see he was trying to process something. The longer it took him to speak, the more afraid I became.“While you were sleeping this past week, there is something I did that I didn’t report.” Axel said in a rush.“Whatever it is, you

Stormie-Moving from room to room, I was amazed at how spacious everything was. The apartment had a living room, office, kitchen, and dining room, all of which had an open concept. Aside from the bathroom connected to the primary bedroom, a smaller bathroom was next to the living room. There were also three bedrooms in total. One of the bedrooms had been converted into a nursery. The nursery hadn’t been fully set up, but it was filled with things for a baby.A box contained magazines and samples for decorating a nursery. I felt emotional as I sat on the floor and skimmed through one of the magazines. Inside, I found hundreds of notes in Axel’s handwriting. He noted the things he liked and put my name and a question mark on a few others. Many of the notes were about what to get depending on the gender of the baby. There were also notes about whether something would be safe for an infant.Tears filled my eyes as I flipped through a few more magazines. At the bottom of the box was a book

Stormie-When Landon released her, I rushed forward to get Misty away from him. In a split second, Landon turned Misty toward him and plunged the knife into her chest. My own chest exploded with pain as Landon pushed Misty away, and she fell to the ground.Placing my hands over my heart, I gasped for air. Falling to my knees, I was thankful when Axel caught me. My eyes focused on Misty as she lay on her back, with blood pouring out of her chest. Her eyes were staring blankly at the ceiling.I didn’t need to confirm that she was dead, as I could sense it. A dark cloud formed inside me, and I slowly succumbed to the darkness. Falling limp in Axel’s arms, everything around me disappeared. While I was asleep, I kept dreaming of the life I had, starting from an early age. Every good and bad moment replayed in my head. When I woke up, I abruptly sat up, gasping for air. My hands covered my chest as if I could relieve the pain in my heart.“You’re awake.” Axel moved onto the bed from a chair

Stormie-Something snapped inside of me at the last second. As if time slowed down, my face hardened as I glared at her. Feeling my strength return in a hot burst, I broke through the rope that tied me to the chair. My eyes burned with fury as I narrowed them on her. Seconds before Misty could shove the needle in me. I caught her wrist with my newly freed hand. Her eyes widened, and I could feel fear resonating from her. Keeping her wrist in my hand, I rose to her level. She took a staggering step back as he attention darted to my hand around her wrist. Misty attempted to twist her wrist as she tried pulling it away. Not willing to release her, I tightened my grip.“You have made me suffer, almost killed me, turned people against me, abused everyone around you, stolen from me, tried to take away the one person you will never be able to have, and so much more.” I edged forward, pushing her back at the same time. “Never again will I allow you to treat me like this. From this moment for

Stormie-“How can I trust you not to change your mind again?” Axel's jaw muscles tensed as he glared at Misty.“If you want to be technical, you were the one to break the rules.” Misty stepped away from me.“What rule did I break?”“I told you your body can’t touch the ground, but you did multiple times. The only reason I didn’t say anything was because I was enjoying the show.” Misty moved away from me, but she was out of my line of sight.Craning my neck, I looked over my shoulder to see what she was doing. I was nearly at full strength but still needed a little more time. When I saw her approaching the crate holding the wolfsbane, my eyes widened as I turned my head toward Axel. From what I could see, he was watching her every move. Turning my head again, I couldn’t see what Misty was doing, as her back obstructed my view. It wasn’t difficult to guess that she was preparing a syringe to inject me again. My gaze moved past her, where Landon was standing. His eyes were also focused o

Axel-Hearing a noise from behind me, I didn’t need to look behind me as I heard a whooshing sound, like a bat swinging through the air. Ducking my head, I grabbed the bat after it passed over my head. The rogue held tight. While he pulled on it, I reached behind me and grabbed the rogue's ankle. Another attack came as I pulled the rogue's leg out from under him. At the last second, I had full control over the bat. Using it as a shield, I blocked the next attack and then retaliated.Swinging the bat as hard as I could, I smashed it against the second rogue’s leg. When I heard the sound of a bone breaking, satisfaction swirled within me. A third rogue came at me with a whip in his hands.Unlike the others, he didn’t directly approach me. He stopped a reasonable distance away before swinging his arm out to throw the whip toward me. Using the bat, I held it out so the whip twisted around the bat. Grabbing the end of the whip with my hand, I pulled it toward me.The guy holding it wasn’t

Axel-“What do you want us to do?” Breck’s and Dominic’s voices overlapped as they spoke inside my head.“It is too risky to try anything right now. Until I can find an opening, I have no choice but to play by their rules.” I responded through the Pack link.I hated that Stormie was injured twice because of my failure to abide by Misty’s wishes. I could tell that Stormie was more upset about what I was being forced to do than the pain that had been inflicted upon her. Regardless of how much it hurt mine and my wolf’s pride, nothing was as crucial as Stormie’s life.“I have never asked you for anything, but I am begging you to please stop.” Tears streamed down Stormie’s face as she looked at Misty.“I am okay.” I gritted my teeth and smiled at Stormie, but she didn’t look in my direction.“I am just getting started.” Misty swatted Landon away from Stormie.Landon seemed reluctant at first but ended up backing away. Seeing that Landon was showing a little decency to Stormie, I might all
