Chp 13 Pt. 4 Life and Death

When I first woke up and saw Gunner I was so happy that I was home. Safe from the monsters. I first welcomed his embrace but as reality set in my body began to betray me and I tensed at everyones touch but Allison’s. I tried so hard to not let it happen, but I couldn’t control it.

I was relieved when the doctor said I could go home. I wanted nothing more than to relax in my own bed and try to process all that had happened. The drive home was awkward. No one said a word. I instinctually ran my hand over my stomach sad and relieved at the same time. I was so lost in thought that I flinched when Gunner reached over and took my hand and to my surprise I didn’t pull away.
