“Yeap.” Cecile rested her chin on her palm. “I’m sure you know what shadow means, right, Mrs. Goldmann? It means she can only live under the light of other people. She will forever be that person's accessory. Everyone knows about Sue, but no one knows that Sue has a sister named Maxine.”

Maxine and Sue were twins. However, her mother preferred Sue over Maxine from childhood. This was because Sue had been the most outstanding child in her mother's eyes.
