I didn't know where I was going, but I just ran and ran until I dumbly tripped, or as it seems, got tripped.
It hurt when my knees connected with the floor, and my elbows and my palms, but I didn't feel like reacting to the pain.
"You should watch where you're going," a French accented voice called. The words I heard was like bile in my mouth. I gripped my hands and stood up. I see, indeed, Marcus, and hiss back, "fuck you."
For a moment, he was stunned. For a moment, I thought of jumping him too. But then I turned around and started running again, realizing I had gone to his beloved spot in halllway. Oh mercy, your majesty.
"Hé! Who did that to you?" he called as I ran off.
I scoff in my run, as if I would tell him anyway. He sounded like he was running after me, but the sound disappears eventually. Also, I couldn't care less.
My heart was beating so fast. I felt like I could just drop dead.

After a really long day of genuine physical and mental torture, I looked forward to going home so badly. I had Kai drive me graciously. Though the wonder twins insisted on driving me, as they were the ones that picked me up in the first place, I refused them. When I got home, I knew it would be quiet. My older brother had work and so did my parents. Grandmother told me she and my younger sister would go out shopping, so I was pretty much safe.I removed Kai's extra helmet and thanked him."Call me if anything ever comes up, okay?" he says after taking the helmet from me, placing it in the back compartment, and vrooming away.I sniffled and wiped my nose, heading inside.I squeal at the sudden shout of my name."LILAC LOURDES DAHLBERG!"I turn to whomever spoke and easily found Roux. He was in the same clothing he woke up in, an indication he did noteven leave the house, meaning he lied about going to work
The next day, I decided to wait until after classes to go to the principal's office. I also decided against telling the gang about my plan, not because I didn't trust them or anything, but because I want this issue to be as small as possible. Kai, I think, was suspecting I was going to do something big today, which is why the rest started to suspect as well. But it was Gail that really caught on. "So you're not going to report them to the principal's office?" she poked during lunchtime as everyone else looked on her interrogation. She nearly made me crack and spill everything, but I kept my mouth shut. "For the millionth time Gail, shut up.We're just getting lunch;I'mjust getting lunch. Geez." "Honestly," Nina said as Cece asked from some pasta, "I think youshouldtell the principal what has been happening." "I agree," Cece chimes in. I suck in a breath as I ge
It was my last subject for the day and both Javier and Marcus opted skip class today, leaving me only to deal with an insufferable Dae-Hyun that had fully enjoyed bickering with me, even though Mr. Pozwich shot him the dirtiest glares.I bid the quickest goodbye to Gail, telling her I had to leave as soon as possible. She didn't have time to call me out, as I was already out of the door.I was suddenly just in front of the principal's office.I sucked in a breath and held it in, reaching my hand out to the door knob. The moment I placed my hand on the metal, the door opened on it's own.I gasp and step back. My heart was beating in my ears.A bright skinned woman wearing a blue top appeared and smiled at me."Oh, bonjour!"I smile back at the woman I had met only once. "Hello Mrs. D'Froi."She smiles again, "Miss, actually."My jaw slacks, "Ah, I'm sorry I imposed.""It's alright," she bid in
I step out of the office and feel a lump in my throat drop down to my stomach."You know what would be great right now," I mutter to myself, "some Lychee juice.""Ya, what are you still doing here?" a voice spoke, causing me to jump up and squeal. The guy knit his brows and gripped the straps of his bag. "Why are you so jumpy?" Dae-hyun asks, turning to the door behind me. "Are you going to rat me out to the dean?" he chuckles out a scoff, "aren't you a little too spineless for that?"I turn to him and find myself fuming. He is fully satisfied with my reaction."Are you doing anything today, Dahlberg?"I roll my eyes, "as if that's any of your business." Upon saying this, I see Andy from down the hallway, and I remember instantly that he wanted to have a word with me. "Andy!" I call and wave at him, all before running towards him.Or at least Itriedrunning to him. Dae-hyun held me back.
I woke up with an unsettling feeling in my chest. I barely couldn't sleep with what Andy told me yesterday."When they tell you it's nothing to worry about, come see me."When.When.Not if.He took back the word if from his sentence because he was sure. This must mean Andy has done this before, surely. He has tried to tell on the kings and yet they still did whatever they wanted."Lilac," my mother calls from across the table, "your food's getting cold."I snap out from my train of thought and look upon my family. My father's on his phone, my brother is devouring his food like a monster, my sister and my mother are having a conversation about unicorns, and my grandmother is looking at me with raised brows."Is there something bothering you, darling?" granny asks.I purse my lips, "Is our principal a good one?""Olivia?" my gra
At this point, I had endured Dae-hyun bugging me in history class by kicking my chair ever so often.Javier hadn't been bothering me at all in any of our shared classes, which was good.Marcus wasn't in class again, and I began to feel concern, especially when I recalled his mom who was so sweet and kind to me. But then I remember his dad, and I get thrown off by the idea Marcus supposedly likes me.I shudder.I was currently in science class, sitting alone since again, my seatmate hadn't been going to school as of late. We had a bunch of activities handed to us today, and that's apart from all the previous ones we already had. I sigh, thinking of how much work it would be for him to catch up.Whatever, that wasn't my responsibility though.I don't care about Marcus. His mom is misguided, I...I growl and mess up my hair in frustration.I owe nothing to Marcus. It's still my decision if I want to hel
"Hey Roux," I said, as my brother and I walked to school. He hummed at that and turned to me, "I'm going to a football game today, remember?" "That's today?" I nodded. He knit his brows, "Didn't you tell methe moronsare on the football team?" My lack of a retort ticked him off. "You know you never told me what happened to you that one time." "It's fine Roux, I already told the principal about it. She said she'd get to the bottom of it." My brother narrowed his eyes, "Wait, is this why you asked if she was a good person? Do you think she won't do anything about it?" I turned to my brother and sighed, "I really don't know, Roux. Ireallydon't." He nods, "Well, if she doesn't, I'll become the principal of your school." I roll my eyes and chuckle, "Moron. You're under-qualified for that." "What? All grandma has to do is say the word." "Ew, and you want t
"Cece, is that Marcus?"Cece straightens up and frantically looks around the field. "Oh my gosh, you're right! What is he doing there?"Kai turns to us and asks about what we're talking about. We tell him and he frowns, "Is he that passionate about the sport so suddenly?""Honestly, these boys need to learn what it feels like to live without privilege." Cece notes. The game goes on well, much to my surprise. Not that I was hoping for our team to self-destruct or lose, but everyone on the field looked good and like they belonged there together. And that's saying a lot, considering the fact the kings are on that field. We cheered all our voices out that when half-time came, I felt my throat dry.It was also at this point, Tommy spotted me in the crowd. I waved at him with both of my arms, and so did Cece and Kai. I made a heart with my hands and pretended to throw it at him. Tommy laughed at this. Then all of a sudden, this player
There was a lot happening now.One of the things happening at present was Javier tried to sit with me, with us-- as in Gail, Cece, Nina and Kai during lunch. That turned out bad, as in Kai nearly threw his lunch at Javier, but thankfully he didn't and it was just really awkward, as we stared at each other and forced small talk out of thin air. It was so awkward in fact Javier kind of had no choice but to leave, which was good.Cece was acting really weird about the whole thing though, weird in the sense that she was... seemingly Javier's actions on why he wanted to join us in the first place.I swear I saw her sigh as he walked away."Listen, all I'm saying is," she starts, "if you don't like Javier, tell him straight because you'll end up hurting yourself and him, and dios mio, I do not want to see him on a rampage," Cece points out, pouting and groaning to exemplify her distaste.I look at her as she stabs clenches her jaw, "Hey. This is just a question... but do you like Javier."C
Tommy turns his eyes off to the distance as he sends the text."So tell me, Javier, do you enjoy hurting others for your self gain?" I deadpan. He doesn't seem bothered by my accusation, "I agree that decisions for personal gain can hurt others, but they'd hurt me back whatever I do anyway. Might as well beat them to it."Javier smiles at my blank expression, "Honestly, it's what I was taught growing up."I knit my brows, feeling sorry for him. I turn to the table and sigh. I guess know I know I know why he's like this.My phone vibrates.Tommy Cat: heyTommy Cat: what u doing rnMy heart skips when I see his text. Finally he's not ignoring me any longer. I quickly reply I'm at a diner currently.Javier knit his brows, "Is that Hyun-Ki?"I glance up at him and my heart skips again, "What? No! He doesn't text me causally."He raises his bro
I stand in the parking lot, growing impatient waiting for who I was.As some students walk to go on their way, they turn to me. And it's not that I care about that they think... I mean, not really, but I try not to show my face.I jolt when a car beep is sounded close to me.For a moment, I think my ride is here, but when I see the familiar blue sports car, I bend down and smile at who is inside, "Hello, twins."Mishka in the steering wheel waves while Sashka beside him lowers his window ans sticks his head out, "You need a ride?I shake my head, "I'm waiting for Javier."The two knit their brows and pull their head back in sync. "Javier Rosario?" Mishka calls loudly from inside.I can't help but chuckle, "You know any other Javier, Einstein?""Why are you waiting for him?!" Mishka says the same time Sashka says, "Don't trust him.""C'mon we'll drive you home," Sashka adds."And why would you when she has me?"Javier walks up beside me and grabs my hand, "go on, you Russian zombies. I
I nearly fell asleep at history class. The only reason I stayed awake was because Mr. Pozwich was infamously annoyed by students who fall asleep in his class and call on them the moment they begin to doze off. I literally jolt awake when he raises his voice as he says, "as you can see, the Russians do not take defeat well," he then turns to the next slide, "which is why--" With my head in my hands, I blinked slowly at our teacher. The entire class had been passive and quiet after a few moments, as per usual. My seatmate Andy sighed next to me. Suddenly, he taps my table. I turn to him. He whispers under his breath without making eye contact, "Did you ever get called back?" I knit my brows, and turn back to the board, "What? Where?" Andy's brow quirks up, "By the principal." For a moment, I just look at him. Once I turn away, I realize what he meant. But before I could reply, he continues, "Judging by the freedom of the kings, I think she didn't." I hum and turn to my table, "You
I watch as Emeraude walks away, like a child excitedly running off to the playground. I sigh and shake my head, thinking how exhausting it must be to keep up with drama. I'm tired just thinking about it. I turn around and walk off to class, aimlessly walking down the locker hallway. When I reach the corner, just then someone jumps up and blurts, "boyfriends?" I jump and whip my head to the guy, rolling my eyes when I see who he is, "what do you want Dae-Hyun?" "What was Emeraude talking about?" "You know," I say simply, shrugging, "whatever gossip she hears." Dae-Hyun shoves his hands in his pockets, "The thing about Emeraude, is that she's hardly wrong though." I knit my brows, "what does that mean?" "Don't date anyone." My face falls in confusion, "what?" "Cause I'll beat them up." I huff and shake my head, finally being able to walk towards my classroom. Dae-Hyun grabs my wrist and n
The moment I was able to get out of that conversation, I did. And the next thing I know I'm being tackled into a tight hug."LILAC," the voice of my best friend, Gail, screeches.I turn to her and find myself confused but relieved, "Oh my gosh, Gail?""What are you doing here?""What areyoudoing here?" I counter."My family came and so Ihadto.""Same here," I chuckle. She waves her hand in the air, "That's not the point though. Point is, I saw your brother, got to talk to him because we both got some chocolate cake, and I'm pretty sure I'm in love with him.""Gailllll.""No listen, hear me out okay."I sigh and nod.Gail shrieks in delight, "He's not that much older than us, plus he's super nice, so youhaveto put in good word for me."I turn to Gail to give her a talking, but then, in the corner of my eye, I see Hyun-Ki talking
"Because I want you to like me. Go on a date with me." I pull my head back and blink rapidly. I knit my brows, "What did you just say?" Javier clenches his jaw, "... go on a date with me." I break out into a laugh that fades into a frown, "seriously?" "We... we got off on a bad start. If anything, I just want to show you I'm not a bad guy," Javier says in a soft tone. I couldn't help but feel annoyed at him, suddenly remembering all that he had done to me. But then at the same time my heart was pounding in my chest because he had been gentler recently. This is so wrong. I need to stop. "We don't even have to label it as a date. Just... an apology for being a douche." I raise my brows, "Do you really mean it?" Javier perks up at my question, "Sim*. With my whole heart." I nod, "Alright then." Javier breaks into a wide grin upon hearing that. "But don't expect too m
Hyun-Ki and I wind up walking around the venue, which may I add is so lavish and wide. We make our way out to the garden and my heart drops.Javier is there chatting to some friends loudly and suddenly turns to me, face dropping.I turn to Hyun-Ki and grab his hand---FOR SOME REASON.I stutter and turn to him, feeling my cheeks burn. I let his hand go and give a face, to which Hyun-Ki finds amusement and laughs at."Lilac," Javier, who walked up towards, says in a loud tone. The tanned man turns from Hyun-Ki to me and clears his throat. "I'm so glad you could make it," he says stiffly, not particularly glad sounding at all.He heaves and turns to Hyun-Ki, "I'm sorry, can I just borrow her for a second."Hyun-Ki turns to him and raises his brows. The older of us three turns to me and gives a questioning look, "I mean... sure."Why?Javier then grabs my hand and pulls me off. It's not in a demanding way,
Remember that party Javier invited me to?Well, guess where I am right now...Javier's party.AND NO-I still didn't want to go, even when Gail and Cece tried to tell me Javier was changed for inviting us. I wasn't about to walk into the jaws of death. But it just so happened...... my family needs to attend this party for connections. And so that's why I'm hiding in the corner of the room where my brother was being chatted up by all these pretty girls in tight dresses and high heels. Roux never minded or never paid anyone mind so I wasn't really cramping up his style or anything. I was maybe cramping up these ladies style, I don't care thoughI had my cheek rested against the back of his shoulder and I was sipping on some cold water.Don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily scared of seeing Javier. I doubt he could do anything while my entire family is present, but I dread seeing him because I still haven
