Chapter Ninety-Five
Hearing what Max said, Bella only gave a slight smile, but deep down, she felt an intense disdain for this man. She couldn't understand why she had once been so deeply in love with him, to the point where she believed that if she didn't marry him, she wouldn't want to marry anyone else.
However, Bella still felt fortunate that she had discovered how disgusting this man truly was. More importantly, she and Max didn’t have any children together, which was one of the reasons why she didn't feel guilty for betraying her husband.
When they arrived home, Max, still slightly intoxicated and in a good mood from two pieces of good news that evening, was feeling extremely relaxed. From behind, he watched Bella, admiring her beautiful figure. Even just looking at her back was enough to make others feel captivated. Max quickly stepped forward and embraced her from behind, greedily inhaling the sweet and seductive fragrance of his wife.
"Bella, you smell so good..." Max whispered close to her ear.
Max had no idea that his sudden touch made Bella shiver, her skin breaking out in goosebumps as she struggled to swallow the overwhelming feelings of disgust and nausea rising in her throat.
But in order not to be discovered, Bella tried her best to suppress her discomfort, gently pushing him away as she softly said, "I know you're very happy tonight, but I'm feeling a bit tired... maybe because I'm pregnant now, and also, what happened with Pearl tonight has left me in no mood for anything."
Thinking of Pearl, Max's expression immediately showed irritation and annoyance. "Just ignore her. Don’t concern yourself with that ungrateful person anymore. Who does she think she is to talk to us like that?"
Of course, Bella had no concern for Pearl; Pearl was just an excuse for her to escape from the current situation. Bella still appeared sorrowful as she said, "Maybe another time. To you, Pearl might just be a secretary, but to me, she's a close and only friend."
Without waiting for Max’s response, Bella went straight to her bedroom and locked the door, ignoring Max as he repeatedly called for her from outside.
The first thing Bella did was check her phone. Tonight, she had posted numerous intimate photos of herself and Max, along with sweet captions full of love, as if she truly adored her husband.
Because Bella had never had many friends—in fact, apart from Pearl, she had no other friends at all. Moreover, Bella was a reserved person who didn't like posting photos or sharing her life on social media. Although Bella was a rich family's daughter, her social media presence was nothing special, and no one really paid attention to her.
Bella saw that Pearl had viewed the pictures she posted tonight, but Pearl didn’t leave any comments or reactions, making it hard for Bella to guess what Pearl was thinking.
But Bella was certain that Pearl would be furious when she saw those pictures.
…
In the dark room, the sound of shattering glass, breaking objects, and the furious screams of a woman echoed. She relentlessly smashed everything in sight, disregarding the injuries to her delicate hands that were always meticulously cared for, unable to stop herself from destroying everything.
"Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?! Damn it! Damn it! Why? What the hell? Why do they treat me like this? Do they think I'm a fool? Bastards!" Pearl kept screaming, smashing everything within her reach.
It didn’t take long for the entire room to look like a complete wreck, even more chaotic than a battlefield.
Pearl continued her rampage until she had no strength left to hold anything, finally collapsing onto the cold floor, crying out in pain. Her cries were filled with despair and helplessness that couldn’t be put into words. She couldn’t understand, nor could she grasp why her fate always ended in rejection.
She had always believed that she had sacrificed a lot, given so much, only to hope for something that was deserved in return, never daring to ask for more.
"Bella, you wretched bitch, damn it! Why can you live so well while I can’t? Why do you get everything so easily while I have to sacrifice so much and still fail?"
Pearl hated Bella. Why was Bella born into a wealthy family, even though both of them lost their mothers at an early age? But why did Bella have a father who loved her so much, while Pearl’s childhood was filled with nothing but violence and poverty?
Why was Bella, who had nothing special about her, able to live a life of wealth and love, while Pearl could only endure the daily beatings and abuse from her father?
It was clear that Pearl was more beautiful, smarter, and more talented, yet she never received anything good. Pearl despised Bella's purity and simplicity; she scorned Bella's kindness and goodness. Simply because Pearl saw it as fake, she believed Bella was only pretending to be good while actually looking down on those at the bottom of society, like her.
How could a wealthy young lady like Bella become friends with her? It had to be because Bella wanted everyone to see her as kind-hearted, someone who never cared about others' backgrounds. But in Pearl's eyes, Bella's kindness was condescending Pearl.
Pearl didn’t know when it started, but she had never wanted Bella to live well; she wanted Bella to suffer everything she had. If Bella experienced the same pain as her, would she still maintain that benevolent face and kind-heartedness?
Therefore, during university, Pearl often secretly posted false, malicious rumors about Bella using an anonymous account on the school's forum. The posts were so frequent that many students took notice, and at the same time, Pearl portrayed herself as a beautiful, kind, and pure figure in everyone's eyes.
Because Bella was quiet and reserved, rarely updating her social media, she had no idea why she was disliked. Bella thought that her shyness and introversion caused many of her classmates to dislike and despise her, thinking she was strange. Only Pearl stayed by her side, comforting her without ever being annoyed, which is why Bella always valued Pearl and cherished their friendship.
But then Max came into their lives, and Pearl's world took a turn. Pearl couldn't accept that even though Bella was isolated and disliked at school, she could still happily get engaged and fall in love with a successful, wealthy man like Max.
Meanwhile, the men Pearl encountered were all without money, useless despite their good looks. She always compared her boyfriends to Max and found that none of them could match him. Max was too wonderful; even at a young age, he was already a successful businessman with a lot of money.
At that point, Pearl realized that even though Bella was isolated at university, what about later? No one could deny that Bella's father was very wealthy and owned a large company; Bella's life had been destined for happiness and luxury from the moment she was born.
Pearl's jealousy toward Bella grew even stronger. Pearl didn't want Bella to be better than her in anything, including the man beside her. So, Pearl wanted to steal Max from Bella. While Bella and Max were just in the early stages of getting to know each other, Pearl continuously approached Max.
Pearl also knew that Bella was simple-minded, and as long as she kept it hidden a little, the foolish Bella would never find out. Due to Bella's foolishness and Pearl's cunning, Pearl successfully seduces Max. It was easy to seduce Max because he only agreed to date Bella because she was the only daughter of Mr. William. Becoming Mr. William's son-in-law would pave the way for his future success.
Another reason was that Bella was so naïve, like a child who knew nothing about love and relationships; her provincial nature made it easy for Max to approach her however he pleased.
At first, Pearl seduces Max out of jealousy and the desire to take Bella's man to feel victorious, but she finds that he has many similarities with her. In the face of Max's sweetness and wealth, Pearl falls in love with him, willing to stay by his side, waiting for him to dump Bella and take over her father's company.
Pearl had thought that her efforts over the years would yield sweet results, but the ending turned out to be so tragic!
"What have I been doing all this time? No, I can't accept that all my efforts have gone to waste like this..." Pearl muttered to herself, staring into the void.
She didn’t know how much time had passed or what she had been thinking and mumbling about. By dawn, as the first rays of sunlight filtered into the room, which looked like a battlefield, a woman sat on the cold, messy floor, staring blankly into space.
A sleepless night had left dark circles under her eyes, her face pale and sickly, and her dress, soaked through, had yet to be changed. Pearl’s appearance at that moment could only be described with one word: "pathetic."
Chapter Ninety-SixSince the night Bella publicly revealed her pregnancy, Max had seemingly undergone a complete transformation. He no longer used the excuse of being busy with work to leave the house every evening as he used to.If Bella hadn’t known the true nature of her despicable and deceitful husband, she might have actually believed he cared for her. His appearance as a caring and model husband left Bella astonished.Bella suspected that something must have happened between Max and Pearl after that dinner, or else a woman like Pearl would never let Max off so easily."You haven't been busy with work every night like you used to lately. Things at your company must be going well?" Bella said casually, though she was probing into the relationship between Max and Pearl.Max heard her but didn't grasp her meaning, thinking only that his wife was showing concern for him. "That's right, I haven't been as busy lately. It's perfect timing, with you being pregnant, so I can stay home to
Chapter Ninety-SevenFearing that his wife might find out about his relationship with Pearl, Max quickly turned to explain to Bella."Bella, don't misunderstand. She seems to be drunk. I can smell the alcohol on her."Pearl heard Max's words and realized he hadn't come here alone, nor had he come to see her. At that moment, Pearl no longer wanted to hide anything. She had been in the shadows for too long and didn’t want to continue like this. But before Pearl could speak, Bella smiled gently and said, "It's okay. It seems your situation is getting worse, Pearl. So bad that you even hugging mistook my man."The faces of both Pearl and Max turned pale, especially Max, who was furious with Pearl for putting him in such an awkward situation.Pearl looked at Max, wanting him to say something, her eyes asking why Bella was here. But Pearl didn't wait for Max's response; she couldn’t hold back any longer."What are you doing here? Who allowed you to come to my house?" Pearl's eyes were fille
Chapter Ninety-EightMax stood outside the door as if standing in a furnace; he wanted to rush in, but Pearl had locked it from the inside, leaving him with no choice but to wait outside."...DIE!..."Max immediately recognized Pearl's scream. Horrified, he could no longer calmly wait and kicked the door forcefully. With the strength of a grown man, it only took three kicks to break down the locked door."Bella! Bella! Where are you?" Max frantically ran inside. He heard noises from the living room and rushed in.Before him was a horrifying and disgusting scene. Max quickly scanned the room and found Bella curled up on the floor, clutching her stomach and trembling uncontrollably. Pearl was holding a large shard of glass, which was smeared with some red liquid.Just by looking, Max knew what was happening. He staggered over to Bella."Bella? Bella? What's wrong? Bella, wake up. Blood?" Max held Bella in his arms, and when he touched her stomach, he felt a liquid flowing out. As soon a
Chapter Ninety-NineAfter Levi mentioned that her unfaithful husband had run off with his lover, Bella truly believed it, as it was a likely scenario. However, she couldn't allow them to cause such havoc and then escape so easily. What Bella didn't expect was that Max would return after two days of her hospitalization. He wanted to see her but was stopped by two bodyguards outside. Since Bella had been admitted, Levi had arranged for numerous bodyguards to be with her, with two stationed right at the door and others guarding the hallway.Hearing Max's voice, Bella merely smirked and said softly, "Let him in.""I'm afraid not, ma'am. Sir has given strict orders—" one of the bodyguards sternly replied.Bella waved her hand and said softly, "Then you stay here with me." After all, she wasn't sure what Max intended by coming here or if he would try to harm her. Although he wasn't directly responsible for her hospitalization, his hesitation had nearly cost her life.As soon as Max saw Bell
Chapter One HundredLevi did not respond but merely stared silently at Bella. He showed no expression, leaving Bella slightly confused, as she had expected him to mock or tease her."Alright, that guy thinks I've forgiven him because I still love him too much. Ridiculous. To think that after all this, that jerk still believes that makes me sick," Bella sighed, glancing at Levi.Levi squinted at her but remained silent. Just his gaze made Bella uncomfortable and confused. She sighed again and added, "Please don’t look at me like that. I’m not crazy enough to forgive that jerk, but there’s something I need to finish. I haven’t ended this yet.""So, when will this end?" Levi's tone hinted at impatience, not quite angry, but clearly, he didn’t want to continue this game with Bella anymore.Bella was somewhat perplexed by Levi's attitude. After all, their relationship had always been transactional. She had never mentioned a deadline, nor had he. So why was he irritated when she said she di
Chapter One Hundred and OneIf that night the image of the two women was drastically different, then now, it’s the same, only reversed. Bella, as a patient, was dressed in hospital clothes, her face pale and weak, while Pearl radiated beauty and nobility, pure and elegant.Since Pearl was standing with her back to Bella, Bella couldn’t see her expression. Aside from the sound of the wind, no one spoke, making the atmosphere between them strangely tense. Finally, Bella broke the silence. “So? You asked me to meet you up here on the rooftop, but you’re not saying anything?”Pearl stood by the rooftop railing, turning around to face Bella. She looked at Bella with a sneer.“Why are you standing so far away? Are you afraid I’ll do something to you? We’re best friends, aren’t we? Why are we so distant now?”Bella didn’t expect Pearl to say such words. If Pearl really considered them best friends, she would never have had an affair with Max and schemed to hurt her.“Of course, I’m afraid. I
Chapter One Hundred and TwoThe news of Pearl being arrested by the police on charges of extortion quickly reached Max. Max had no time to rest, as he frantically tried to handle and destroy incriminating documents. However, documents accumulated over many years were not so easy to dispose of.As Max struggled to deal with the mess, he continuously cursed Pearl, calling her a foolish woman. "If she wants to die, she should do it on her own! What a stupid woman."Now, Max finds himself in a situation where he doesn't know what to do. He couldn't understand how ignorant Pearl had been in resorting to blackmailing Bella and then getting arrested by the police. Wouldn't it have been better if she had just disappeared from here?Although Pearl wasn't a famous or influential figure, those who had business dealings with Max were aware of the ambiguous relationship between the two. These partners also knew of Max's plan to take over the company; in fact, they had been secretly supporting him.
Chapter One Hundred and ThreeThe more Max struggled, the more the two officers tightened their hold, causing him both pain and frustration."Are you people insane? Do you even know who you’re arresting? Let go of me!” Max shouted, turning to Bella, “Bella, help me, please. Don’t just stand there watching!”Bella, who had just been feigning weakness and sadness over her “best friend” going to prison, now looked at Max with utter indifference, her gaze filled with sarcasm and disdain."What are you talking about, darling husband? If I helped you, wouldn’t that make me an obstruction to law enforcement?"Max looked at Bella, bewildered. “What?”Seeing Max’s confusion, Bella had no patience to explain further. She raised her voice to address everyone present. “Ladies and gentlemen, honorable court, I am truly grateful that you all remain here so we may proceed with the next hearing immediately.”Bella glanced at Pearl, then at Max. “Yes, Max. You are indeed the next one after your little
Chapter One Hundred and TwentyLevi didn’t agree to his father’s request; he only smiled faintly and said, “Perhaps he already knows. Even though we haven’t contacted each other for a long time, he still knows quite a lot about me, doesn’t he?”The housekeeper spoke slowly, “No matter what, he is still your father. He still cares about you.”Levi chuckled softly. “Is that so? He cares about me? Ha… cares about me?” His displeasure was clear in his tone. The housekeeper pressed her lips together and lowered her head, not daring to breathe too loudly. Despite the age gap, she had never dared to speak much in front of the young master. The older he grew, the more he resembled his father—his mannerisms, his gaze, and even his words were cold and sharp, making it difficult for anyone to approach. She was about to quietly leave, but as soon as she took a step back, she heard him speak. “How old are you this year?”“I… I’m seventy years old.” The housekeeper was a bit surprised by the questi
Chapter One Hundred NineteenAlthough Bella was also a wealthy young lady, she felt incredibly small in this mansion. After Levi brought her to this room, he told her to wait and then left. Bella glanced around; though the room appeared quite old, everything was impeccably clean and gleaming."Perhaps the housekeeper meticulously cleaned this place. The fact that she can manage such a huge mansion all by herself is truly impressive," Bella murmured to herself in admiration. However, she couldn’t shake off the discomfort she felt when looking at the housekeeper. To be precise, the elderly woman seemed rather frightening.Everything in this room was ancient. The patterns and designs all indicated that they had been crafted many years ago. Not only the mansion but even the furniture inside bore traces of time.Bella didn’t dwell on it too much. She simply assumed that since the Levi family was an old and powerful lineage—perhaps second only to the royal family—it was natural for them to
Chapter One Hundred EighteenBella pressed her lips tightly together, clenched her teeth, and gripped her hands, but she didn’t dare show any dissatisfaction or discomfort in front of Levi. She forced an awkward smile."You really know how to joke. So, which part of the project are you dissatisfied with? Just say the word, and I’ll revise it to your liking. The contract too—what part doesn’t meet your expectations?"Levi was very patient. He clearly saw Bella’s reluctance and frustration but still listened to everything she said. He stood close to her, narrowing the distance between them, while Bella could only sit still, unable to move away."So as long as I say the word, you’ll do as I please? Is that what you mean?" Levi chuckled as he looked down at Bella.Bella felt she could no longer keep up her forced smile. She said, "That’s right, in the contract—"Before she could finish, he interrupted her, "Then let me take you home. Would you accept this simple request of mine?"The mome
Chapter One Hundred SeventeenAnd obviously, their conversation led nowhere. Bella returned home in an irritated and frustrated mood, yet there was nothing she could do about it. She angrily slammed her fist against the steering wheel."That shameless bastard! Is he insane or what? What does he want from me, clinging to me like a leech?"Levi was always like this. Now, he acted as if nothing had changed between them. No, to be precise, he acted as if she belonged to him. He always did whatever he pleased, completely ignoring Bella’s unwillingness.Just earlier, Levi had simply smiled, unfazed by Bella’s scolding. He said, "Are you free tomorrow night? Ever since I saw you at that bar, I haven’t gone back there. We should—""Enough! I’m not as idle as you. Tomorrow night, I have an important meeting with a business partner. And right now, I’m already wasting my precious time on someone as unreasonable as you," Bella cut him off, not caring about his expression as she grabbed her bag an
Chapter One Hundred SixteenAssistant Kim's question made Bella's mind freeze instantly. She looked up and asked, "What do you mean?""Possessiveness is something inherent in every person and every living creature. Even the smallest things, like keeping one's belongings, stem from possessiveness. The concept itself is simple, but when it reaches an extreme, higher and higher, there’s no way to escape or control it. The man you are trying to avoid and run away from, I’m afraid..."Assistant Kim stopped mid-sentence and stared at Bella. Even though she didn’t finish her words, both of them knew exactly what she was implying. At first, it seemed like Assistant Kim was giving a general example, but in the end, it pointed directly at Bella. Of course, Bella understood what she meant, but the phrase "no way to escape" seemed like an exaggeration. It was true that she wanted to avoid that man. It was true that he refused to end things cleanly with her. But it wasn't to the extent of being co
Chapter One Hundred and FifteenAs soon as Mr. James finished speaking, the atmosphere in the room grew noticeably tense. Bella furrowed her brows tightly—everything was changing too fast, and she still didn’t understand what was truly happening. Why was her father so anxious and fearful?Clenching her fists, Bella was determined to uncover the truth. If she didn't know what was going on, she wouldn't be going anywhere."Dad, I’m an adult now. You can’t keep treating me like an ignorant child. Keeping things vague like this will only make both of us more worried and exhausted. If you don’t tell me the truth, I’m not leaving. How am I supposed to know what will happen to you once I’m gone?"No matter what Mr. James said, Bella remained resolute. Besides, she saw no reason to run away. Even if Levi was truly a dangerous man, someone capable of controlling everything with just one hand—so what?It wasn’t that Bella was overly confident or arrogant, but she simply couldn’t predict Levi’s
Chapter One Hundred and FourteenBella looked at the steaming hot dishes on the table, feeling utterly exhausted and conflicted. She knew that the boss of the man who had delivered the food was definitely Levi, but what she really wanted to question was why he kept showing concern for her.Bella mumbled to herself, "Does he like me? Well, it makes sense. If he didn’t like me, he wouldn’t come to me to fulfill his needs. But if that's the case, then what he likes is my body, not me… How exhausting. Love… I don't want to go through that pain again..."In the kitchen, Bella sat alone in front of the steaming dishes. The atmosphere was gloomy and lifeless. She quietly ate, silently shedding tears, unaware of when they had started falling until a few drops landed in her food."What should I do now?" Bella forced a bitter smile. She was scared—terrified of enduring another heartbreak. Once was more than enough for her.The betrayal of the two people she trusted most was just a small part of
Chapter One Hundred and Thirteen“Hmmm… haaa… ugh… ugh… please… I… can’t take it anymore… hic… ugh… aahh…” Bella kept letting out intermittent moans, although the pleasure was coming in waves, this level of madness was really too much for her.The room was filled with sounds that made the listener blush with embarrassment, not only Bella’s moans but also Levi’s vulgar words that made Bella wish she was deaf so she wouldn’t have to hear what came out of this man’s mouth.“Damn. Baby, I’m almost there… look, I haven’t even come yet and you’ve already climaxed several times, you’re getting more and more sensitive.” Levi thrusted frantically, he tightened his grip on her waist, leaving clear red palm prints on both sides of Bella’s waist.Bella was in a daze from pleasure, as soon as she heard Levi speak, she immediately woke up, tears welling up in her eyes as she looked at him, her voice trembling as she begged.“Don’t… don’t shoot inside… pull out… ugh… hmmmm… ugh… I don’t want to… ple
Chapter One Hundred TwelveSince Pearl's trial, Bella hadn't engaged in any intimacy for a while, making every touch from Levi send shivers down her spine and heighten her sensitivity. From the start, their relationship was nothing more than a transaction of physical needs and benefits: he helped her take revenge on the two betrayers, and she satisfied him by becoming his lover—a lover who could fulfill his desires whenever he wanted.Indeed, Bella had always played her role well while the deal was ongoing and never once refused this man. But that was when their deal was still in progress. Now, what meaning did this hold?"What is our relationship now? Tell me. My ex-husband and his mistress have been thrown into prison, so I don’t need your help anymore. If you're doing this just to satisfy your own needs, go find another woman. I don’t want to continue this with you anymore.” A moment ago, Bella had been flustered, but now she spoke with surprising calm. The large hand caressing Bel
