                             Saving Erin

                                Chapter 6

                Zane (Tanks) point of view.

  

                                

Fuck I can't believe it was Roy Kenner who kidnapped Erin, no wonder Jake was so eager to get down of this mountain, especially now the roads are starting to clear; we're like sitting ducks up here.

Madog and I grab our weapons as Jake lifts her into the car. She cries out with the pain. The poor girl must be in agony.

I want to get my hands on Roy Kenner. What sort of sick fucker does that to a woman. I can only imagine what she's been through these past three weeks.

Once Erin's settled in the car, Swifty sets off down the road as Madog, and I follow close behind.

"Fuck man Roy Keller how did she get mixed up in all this." 

I mutter as Madog replies.

"I heard Daniels was taking all the drug barons down one by one and the whole corrupt system along with it." 

Looking in the rearview mirror, I see a truck following us, and I tell Madog.

"We got company."

As Madog looks through the rearview mirror, I pick up the radio, letting Jake know.

"We got company Swifty." 

Jake replies to me.

"Can you hold them off while we disappear?"

Madog laughs as he shouts back.

"Bring it on." 

I start slowing the jeep down as Swifty speeds off in front, putting some distance between us. This is something we practice and also used on a few occasions.

"Come and play with the big boys, you mother fuckers"

I say as I look in the mirror. Madog is now ready to shoot as he shouts.

"Eat my shit fuckers" 

The jeep almost comes to a stop now, and Jake's Jeep is out of sight; I breathe a sigh of relief now I know Erin is safe before the truck rams into the back of us.

"Fuck"

I keep a tight grip on the steering wheel, so we don't lose control as Madog leans out the window taking a couple of shots. 

"Arrrrr fucker"

He shouts out; I look over at Maddox. He pulls himself in, holding his shoulder as I ask

"Are you OK?" 

"hahaha, just a fucking scratch."

He says before he leans out the window again as he aims for the tyres one perfect shot, and the front tyres of the truck blow out, causing it to slide off the road.

Madog yells out the window. 

"bye-bye mother fucker"

I watch as the truck skids out of control behind us, sliding off the road and out of sight.

I pick up the radio calling Jake.

"We lost them swifty heading to the bunker now

Jake replies.

"Nice one, well be there in 10." 

                          

                                                   

     

                Jake's point of view

  

I pull up at the bunker, the garage door opens up, and we drive in, jumping out of the jeep; I open the rear door and gently pick Erin up in my arms. She makes a whimper but stays asleep as I whisper. 

"I've got you, sweetheart." 

As I carry her down to the basement, where we have living quarters for emergencies and protection, one of my team has a room ready for her. I carry her into the room before gently laying her down on the bed. 

"Mmmmm, Jake?"

She mumbles; I stroke her cheek as I whisper.

"Yes, it's me. You're safe now." 

She opens her eyes before she whispers 

"Thank you." 

  

I move her hair away from her face as I ask her. 

"I'm going to contact your Dad. Is that okay with you, baby?"

"Mmmmm yesssss."

She whispers; her father must be going out of his mind with worry, I think to myself as I stroke Erin's cheek, her tired eyes closing again. I kiss her forehead before I walk out of the room.

Laila is standing at the door, watching me as she says. 

"You like her, don't you?" 

I shrug my shoulders

I don't answer her, do I? I don't know. There's just something about this girl that I can't explain.

"I'll be in the office. I'm going to contact her father." 

I say to Laila as I walk out of the room; she puts her hand on my shoulder as she says.

"I'll look after her"

I tell Simone, our receptionist, to get Peter Daniels on the phone before making my way into my office. A couple of minutes later, the phone rings; Simone answers when I pick it up.

"Mr Swift, I have a Peter Daniels on the phone for you." 

I take a deep breath before I pick up the call.u                

"Mr Daniels?"  I ask.

"yes, who's calling?"

He replies.             

Hi Mr Daniels, my name is Jake Swift, owner of swift securities. I'm calling to let you know we have your daughter with us, and she's safe." 

There's a pause before he replies.

"You have Erin." 

I reply

"Yes, sir."

I hear him suck in his breath before he asks. 

"how much do you want?" 

"Nothing, Sir, she found us."

I sense the relief in his voice as he asks.

"Where is she? I need to see her. Is she okay?" 

"She's here with us. When can you get here? We have a lot to discuss." 

I ask; his reply is instant. 

"I'm on my way. I'll be there in a couple of hours." 

Less than two hours later, I'm in my office with Peter Daniels. He shakes my hand as he says. 

"Thank you, Mr Swift, for saving my daughter. I need to see her." 

I run my hand over my stubble, finding it hard. How do I tell a father what his daughter has just been through? 

      

I'll take you to her now. I need to warn you though she's been through a lot, my medic has been looking after her, but she'll be seeing a doctor and a therapist tomorrow." 

He bangs his fist down on my desk as he shouts.

"I know what she's been through. That bastard  sent me pictures and a video recording to my office. What sort of monster sends pictures of their daughter being raped. Kenner said he was going to torture her and send me pieces of her in the post." 

I watch as this proud man falls apart in front of me, his own suffering and guilt are plainly evident.

I can't imagine a father having to watch his daughter go through that. Roy Kenner is a very sick individual. Peter looks at me as he asks. 

"Can I see my baby girl, please?" 

I put my hand on his shoulder, knowing nothing I say will help ease this man's pain.

"Come on, your daughters waiting for you." 

I say before we walk down the bunker corridors in silence. I open the door to Erin's room. She's curled up fast asleep and on the bed, as I whisper.

"Erin hunni, you have a visitor." 

             

She sits up on the bed, rubbing her eyes before she says.

"Daddy, "

The tears fall down her face as her Dad takes her in his arms. She's sobbing as he's holding her.

He replies with tears in his eyes.

"I'm so sorry, baby girl. I'm so sorry you've got involved in all of this. I'm quitting today. I can't chance you being hurt again. You're the most important person in my life; I can't let anyone hurt you ever again." 

Erin cries out, surprising us both as she says.

"No, Daddy, don't let what I've been through be for nothing. I don't think I could get through this if it's all for nothing. Please, Daddy, put that bastard away along with the rest of them.

  

That's the moment I fell in love with Erin Daniels; she may be broken just now, she may have a long road ahead of her before she recovers, she may never fully recover, but this beautiful young woman sitting before me is the bravest, strongest person I've ever met. 

Her father looks up at me with tears in his eyes as he says. 

"You promise me swift you can keep her safe." 

I nod my head, he has to put Kenner away for this, and he knows it.

"You have my word, Mr Daniels." 

I reply as I look at Erin and smile. I know I'll never let anyone hurt her ever again.

Why? Because she's just too precious!
