Crying felt useless now, like the rice had turned into burnt porridge. No matter how much she tried to fix it, there was no way to bring it back to its original state. No amount of processing could yield something enjoyable for anyone. That was Cesilia's current predicament. Her body trembled as she stared at the two red lines displayed on the pregnancy test she had just ordered online.

No wonder Cesilia had been feeling something was off about her lately. Tears flowed uncontrollably as she realized she was pregnant, something she hadn't expected. She remembered using contraception, but somehow she was pregnant now, and she was certain the fetus in her womb was Maxime's child.

"Why did this happen?" Cesilia whispered, unable to hide her fear as she looked at the pregnancy test. She had tried several tests from different brands, but the result remained the same: positive.

Hastily grabbing her bag and car keys, she headed to the hospital to confirm the test results.

"Your work?" Alexander raised an eyebrow, looking at Robert who was now seated in front of his desk. "Isn't it obvious? Working outside and finishing a pile of tasks that need to be done by this evening." Robert shrugged. "Yes, there's a lot, but there's something important I need to discuss with you." "Go on," Alexander placed the pen on his desk, leaning back in his chair. He was ready to listen to whatever Robert had to say. He was sure this had something to do with Cesilia just now. Indeed, it had been bothering him too, distracting him from his work. Despite having so much work to do lately, he found himself preoccupied with household matters and the gossip about Casandra. "Don't tell me you believe that the fetus in Cesilia's womb is your child." Robert shot the question at Alexander directly, not wanting to beat around the bush. For him, time is money. The faster he talks to Alexander, the sooner he can satisfy his curiosity. "Don't accuse me of things I'm not thinking abo

"Yasmin said that Cesilia is currently at your house, and she said Cesilia came and claimed to be your lawful wife. What's worse, Cesilia also mentioned that soon Yasmin and Casandra will be kicked out of the house because Cesilia is pregnant with your child and you two will reconcile," Robert's words echoed in Alexander's ears.He wished he could fly straight home without having to navigate through the heavy traffic like he was now. Alexander was truly furious because Cesilia had casually disrupted his household even though they had no relationship anymore.Alexander was also worried that Casandra might fall for Cesilia's words, especially since he had tried calling her several times, but she refused to pick up his calls. Even Yasmin wouldn't answer his calls. He had no idea what was happening at home, and he was genuinely scared that he might not find Yasmin or Casandra when he got there. His heart couldn't function properly in situations like this. Especially when Casandra wasn't d

"It's quite unusual for you to invite me to meet," Tomas remarked as he gestured for Alexander to take a seat. He found it surprising since Alexander usually declined dinner invitations, claiming he was already full from dining with his wife. Despite what his secretary had said about the purpose being a friendly visit and dinner, there seemed to be more to it."It's nothing too important, just that I'm here to discuss matters beyond business," Alexander replied.Tomas's expression grew tense, sensing that Alexander was getting to the heart of the matter. Clearly, this wasn't a business-related issue; there must be a personal matter that prompted Alexander to come and meet him."Please, if it's something I can assist with, I'd be glad to help, especially considering your influential role in our business partnership and your busy schedule."Alexander nodded slowly, searching for the right words to convey the purpose of his visit. He feared that Cesilia's actions could negatively impact

Cesilia was truly frustrated when her request to terminate her pregnancy was completely ignored by the doctor. Angrily, she returned home, unaware that someone had overheard their conversation earlier.Initially, this person idolized Cesilia greatly and even wanted to ask for her autograph and take a photo together. However, hearing Cesilia's request to terminate her pregnancy completely changed the intentions of this Cesilia fan. Instead, they were upset because the woman they had idolized, and even defended on social media during her divorce with Alexander, was now asking a doctor to terminate her pregnancy. This fan even joined in criticizing Casandra and labeling her as a cheap woman. Now, in front of this person's eyes, a scandal had been uncovered. Time seemed to prove who was guilty and deserved retribution. The Cesilia fan felt guilty. How could they have passionately defended and criticized Casandra, when their own idol had caused her own marriage to crumble? To make things w

Cesilia was truly speechless as she saw her social media filled with negative comments. Her body felt weak, staring blankly at the phone that had been incessantly ringing with calls from an unknown number. She had no idea who it was, as she had been spending more time at home lately due to the short duration of product photoshoots. The actual contract, as Maxime had previously mentioned, covered a more comprehensive collaboration. When there were no scheduled shoots, Cesilia would naturally stay home and could consider other job offers outside of skincare ads. However, Maxime had taken advantage of this to get close to Cesilia. With him absent now, Cesilia had plenty of time to relax. She also wasn't yet willing to accept jobs from anyone else."W-who leaked the news that I'm pregnant?" Cesilia threw her phone onto the bed. She sat down weakly, imagining what would happen next. Naturally, the media would use her as an easy target to get a hot scoop. Cesilia would have to come up with

As Casandra moved into the second trimester of her pregnancy, her condition began to improve. The nausea and dizziness had subsided, and she could now enjoy regular meals and rest. In fact, things had stabilized to the point that Frans decided to return to work at the hospital. However, he still came back to Alexander's house to rest. If he had a daytime shift, he would return home in the evening. Conversely, if he had a night shift, he would come back to Alexander's house during the daytime. This routine continued, with Frans visiting to check on Casandra's well-being until she gave birth.Frans' presence at Alexander's house had indeed brought about changes. Especially for Yasmin, who found herself in a state of inner turmoil. Robert had displayed interest in her and openly invited her out for meals or dates. Though there were no declarations of love, Yasmin knew that Robert had fallen for her. Yet, for some reason, she found herself more drawn to Frans, who seemed more laid-back an

"Your ex-wife disappeared for a long time, but when she resurfaced, it caused a huge commotion in the world." Frans placed his phone in front of Alexander. He had been eager to meet the man and share the gossip that was circulating on social media. And no wonder, Cesilia was reported missing for weeks and suddenly reappeared with shocking news. She was going to marry William, Maxime's adoptive brother. And that wasn't all—the Maxime family confirmed that Maxime was undergoing treatment following his accident some time ago.His condition was critical, preventing him from continuing his role as the leader of the company. As a result, Tomas declared that William would be acting as a temporary replacement for an unspecified period, given that Maxime's recovery was uncertain.Even if Maxime were to recover, he would never be the same again."What else is she up to? I've been busy with work, and on top of that, Casandra has been acting unpredictably. Can you believe she cried just because I

"Daddy, are you still busy with work?"Alexander looked at his phone screen, checking who was calling. Yasmin. But the mention of "Daddy" made him reevaluate the voice on the other end of the call."It's me, Dad. My phone is out of battery, so I borrowed Yasmin's phone to call. She happened to be here, delivering juice. So, how's it going? Are you still busy?"Alexander sighed. "Who did you think it was?" He glanced at the watch on his wrist. "Kind of busy, dear. There's also Robert's event later. So, let me finish up, alright? I'm worried it won't be done by then, and this needs to…"Alexander paused. He stared at the lit screen of his phone. The call had been disconnected unilaterally, which meant he was in big trouble. He hurriedly shut his laptop down, aware that a heated argument with Casandra would take up a lot of time, and he needed to postpone work with a tight deadline."Sweetheart, I'm here." Trying to remain calm and summon all the patience he had, Alexander lay down besid

Alexander didn't expect that his morning decision to stay at home was a sign from the universe for him to be there to support Casandra before giving birth. However, Casandra refused his offer, fearing that his work might be disrupted because of her. And now, Casandra was crying in fear of facing childbirth alone, only accompanied by Yasmin and Frans. While Yasmin was trying to comfort Casandra, she found herself reluctant to leave the house due to her persistent headaches in recent days. Feeling irritable, she didn't even want to face anyone, including Frans. Luckily, her understanding husband didn't make a fuss about it, and he was now accompanying Casandra, although not in the delivery room. He was waiting outside, also trying to contact Alexander to inquire about his whereabouts. In the delivery room, Yasmin continued to grumble at Casandra, not being pleased that she had to be the one accompanying her sister. Yasmin's bad mood even extended to Frans, and she was making a scene in

Despite feeling a slight pang of pity for his father in his heart, Maxime tried to strengthen himself to not give in just because of his father's tears. Even though the investigation results indicated that his father was manipulated by his secretary and there was no true intention to eliminate him, Maxime was still disappointed. His father chose to follow his secretary's desires instead of fighting for his own son's life, to give him the push to survive. This anger fueled Maxime's determination, and he refused to forgive Tomas or withdraw the charges. He proceeded through numerous court sessions, awaiting the verdict that would determine how long Tomas would spend in prison for his actions.Nevertheless, Maxime continued with his wedding plans with Cesilia after she obtained a new status from William. In the eyes of others, Cesilia might be a widow twice over, but in Maxime's eyes, she was still his for the first time.Cesilia and Maxime's wedding took place simultaneously with the we

"It's been quite a while, and I can see there's been no progress at all. Even the health reports give me a headache," Tomas said, tossing the documents that Cesilia handed him.The documents contained numerous lies to make Tomas believe that Maxime's condition hadn't changed at all."Yes, what can I do? Maxime has been treated with whatever funds I could spare from my limited savings. Naturally, that's the best result we can achieve. But at least I'm fighting for Maxime's life, even though I don't have the ability for it. You should be ashamed that you can't fight for your own son and instead hope he dies at such a young age," Cesilia jabbed at Tomas, who persisted in wanting to end Maxime's life despite Cesilia's efforts to save him."Rather than struggling like this, it's better to live your life with William. Your life would be much better and peaceful. You don't need to care for an ailing man like my son.""Your son, you say, yet you've never once given me a chance to live after w

If only Robert hadn't met Cesilia and Tiara a few days ago, he would have been genuinely shocked now as Frans and Alexander suddenly invited him to a meeting room that was usually used for discussing business agreements. But here they were, sitting face to face, Robert appearing to sigh heavily several times, as if he was attending a trial about his life. He had a feeling today marked the end of any chance he had with Yasmin. Today, he had to let go of all his dreams, which were now being taken over by Frans."We don't need to beat around the bush or prolong this. I want to discuss something that our friend has been keeping from us," Alexander started the conversation."This is quite surprising, but that's the reality. The relationship you've been yearning for has actually been happening between Frans and Yasmin," Alexander carefully conveyed the news, but soon his eyebrows furrowed as he observed Robert's response.Robert remained silent, his expression flat, and he tapped his finger

Before meeting Alexander at his office, Frans managed to have lunch with Yasmin at a cafe near her campus. After lunch, he proceeded to Cesilia's residence to check on Maxime's condition.Maxime's progress had been quite remarkable, even though he couldn't engage in too much physical activity yet. Cesilia was already grateful for Maxime's current condition. He could sit up and move his limbs, although he still felt weak and experienced some discomfort when moving.Despite his condition, Cesilia was thankful that she could hold Maxime in her arms again. However, every time Tomas visited, Maxime would lie down as if only his eyelids could move. Several times, Tomas tried to persuade Cesilia to let Maxime go and seriously consider marrying William. But Cesilia remained adamant against Tomas's suggestion and would often berate him for even suggesting such a thing. She accused him of being heartless, willing to sacrifice their son's life for a sum of money that would be spent within a few

Casandra folded her arms across her chest and stared at Yasmin from head to toe. Naturally, Yasmin didn't understand what to do or say after Casandra had suddenly asked her to talk, especially since she and Frans had just finished kissing. She was now haunted by fear."Now tell me, what kind of relationship do you have with Frans?" Casandra asked once her emotions had calmed a bit."There's nothing between me and Frans, sis.""Are you sure there's absolutely nothing between you and Frans?"Yasmin attempted to maintain her composure, even though her head felt heavy as she did so. But to hide her relationship with Frans, she still went along with it."If there really is nothing between you and Frans, then whether you like it or not, you'll have to accept Robert's proposal."Casandra averted her gaze elsewhere, anywhere but at Yasmin."Why all of a sudden, sis? Asking me to accept Robert's proposal. What's going on? Didn't I already tell you I would never accept that guy's proposal?""It

Perhaps about two weeks had passed since Frans accompanied Yasmin for shopping. Yasmin had also started attending classes. An unusual feeling began to arise in Alexander and Cassandra's hearts. Why? Because Yasmin always returned home with Frans. Their excuse was that they accidentally bumped into each other on the street, even though as far as Alexander knew, the hospital where Frans worked was in the opposite direction from Yasmin's campus. Even their visits to Maxime's house had this same pattern. The oddness intensified when Alexander checked his bank account transactions. He looked at the dates and times when Yasmin went shopping with Frans. Alexander clearly remembered that on that day, Yasmin came home with a lot of shopping bags, but when he looked at his bank account, there was no expenditure recorded for that day. This meant Yasmin didn't use the debit card he had given her. So, whose money did Yasmin use for shopping?Placing his phone on the nightstand, Alexander glanced

Frans immediately reached out his hand to the woman and kissed the back of her hand."Mother, let me introduce you to Yasmin, my girlfriend.""Girlfriend?" the middle-aged woman repeated, observing Yasmin from head to toe. "Frans, you're not joking, right? Is this really your girlfriend? Whose niece did you pay to pretend to be your girlfriend?""Mother...," Frans interjected. "Please don't let your teasing strain our relationship.""Well, come on, she's so young and beautiful, she surely wouldn't be interested in a widower like you.""Mom," Frans cautioned again, and the middle-aged woman rubbed her temple."Get to know Mother first. My name is Tiara, Frans' mother.""Yasmin." She extended her hand to introduce herself, not forgetting to kiss the back of the middle-aged woman's hand."Don't listen to Mother. It's all just playful banter," Frans said, lightening the mood. However, Yasmin was already too scared to face the woman. Sensing Yasmin's nervousness, Tiara immediately embraced

"Where are we going first, to find clothes or books?" Frans parked his car in the mall parking lot."Let's look for books first, Frans. So that later we can just focus on finding clothes. I think I don't need many clothes; I still have so many in my closet. The first time I came here, my sister suggested online shopping.""Alright, books it is then." Frans helped Yasmin unfasten her seatbelt, and they both got out of the car together. Just like usual, they walked side by side, holding hands, as they explored the various stores in the mall.Yasmin seemed enthusiastic about choosing all the supplies she would need for her upcoming college. Patiently, Frans followed behind, observing Yasmin as she carefully selected each item."Which one is better?" Yasmin asked, handing over two larger-sized books."Which one?" Frans asked, puzzled, as he didn't see anything particularly special about those books. To him, a book was used for writing, and there was no difference."Isn't the cover nice? D
