Alexa
The rain fell like a natural shower from the sky. My clothes and pants were soaked. The cold water pierced every pore of my skin, making my body shiver with cold.
My steps were slow and aimless, trudging through the slippery and muddy roads at the edge of this small town. No one dared to leave their houses at night. No one wanted to encounter the magical creatures they assumed were thugs.
The dim streetlights were blurred by the rain, creating an illusion of blinding light. Both my arms wrapped around my body as tightly as possible. The sound of my sobs was drowned out by the deafening noise of the rain.
‘It’s all over.’
‘No! This is just the beginning! You can now fully transform!’ Mythril assured me with an enthusiastic shout.
‘But Alpha Gabriel was injured.’
‘Oh, please. He’s a werewolf and will recover in just a matter of days.’ Mythril rolled her eyes.
AlexaI didn’t understand why they had been so scared. My body burned as if set aflame. Pain spread through every part of me, even to the roots of my hair.It had felt like every strand of my hair had been pulled out. My ears rang, and an excruciating pain had torn through my chest. My breath came in heavy pants as I watched my hands grow huge, covered in thick black fur. Sharp claws bursted out, ripping through my fingertips. I howled in agony. My vision spun, bright and chaotic, making me dizzy. I needed to stop the pain. Someone, help me!I roared, my massive hands swinging around, seeking help. Instead of warm hands reaching out, people ran, screaming to get away.“Help!” Lorraine shrieked, collapsing to the ground. She stared at me, terrified, unable to stand. “No! Don’t come near me, monster!” Lorraine trembled in fear. The shock on her face was priceless.
AlexaBack to present day…Tears flowed as heavily as the rain pouring from the sky. Now I remembered everything. The fact that my father died of a heart attack was nonsense. Mrs. Geeny modified some of my memories because the truth was too bitter to process, almost driving me insane. The binding chain was a form of emotional and memory modification. Now the chains on my wolf were broken. I, who had undergone a perfect transformation, realized the weight of my sins, the immense guilt of Mythril, and how despicable I was in the eyes of the Silver Moon Pack members. No wonder my stepmother was eager to drive me out of the Dawson family home. It made sense that Alpha Gabriel did not flinch when my stepmother sold me off. I was the sinner. My chest grew unbearably tight, squeezing my heart. My steps halted by the roadside, and my knees buckled as I absorbed all the terrible memories again. I wailed under the torrential rain, hoping it would erase me from the earth. The screech of car tire
Alexa“Ugh!” I groaned aloud as pain surged through me. My back burned, and I felt warm liquid seeping out. The icy rain couldn’t counteract the heat from the wound on my back. But I didn’t give up. I got up and elbowed the man’s face twice, hard enough to distract him for a fraction of a second. Forcing myself to endure the excruciating pain, my hand pulled the dagger from my back.‘It hurts like hell!’ Mythril screamed. When the dagger was removed, in a swift motion, I swung it toward my opponent’s face, leaving a deep cut on his cheek. I twisted his arm, which was still holding onto mine. I leaped onto his shoulders. Both my legs locked around his head, causing him to collapse to the ground. I drove the dagger into his neck, directly hitting a vital point.Another man got back up. He pointed a gun at me. My hand instinctively grabbed the dagger from my fallen opponent to defend myself.‘Channel the magic!’ Mythril urged, pushing energy outward. In a split second, I focused my energ
AlexaI coughed. My eyes blinked several times to clear the blur in my vision. My hand lifted, and I rubbed my eyes repeatedly, but there was still no light that I could see. My neck got stiff, and when I lifted my body, I realized I had been sleeping face down. A sharp pain shot through my neck and back. “Oh, damn.” I cursed in a harsh whisper.Holding back the pain, I winced and bit my lower lip. My hand crept on my neck, which was covered in gauze and lots of bandages. Before I could lift my hand higher to touch the wound on my back, the sting stopped me from moving further. “Damn, girl! Stop it! It hurts!” Mythril protested with an annoyed howl. No longer intending to reach for the wound on my back, I finally pushed my body upright with both elbows. My eyelids blinked again to adjust to the dim light. Slowly, I saw the silhouette of my body on the tent wall. I looked around and realized that I wasn’t sleeping on a regular mattress. Beneath me was a thin folding mat laid over
AlexaOh, shit. I was sure I was wearing warm underwear beneath the slightly oversized pants, but I didn’t know whose pants these were. The red-and-black tartan flannel shirt was also too big for me. If Harlow had treated my back because he was the only healer here, then…“I swear I didn’t mean it’s a lewd dream or something. It was a silhouette that looked like you. I thought it was you. Then you were standing at the riverbank yesterday, waving at me. That’s all.”Harlow rambled, swallowing hard afterward. He must have been panicking. Honestly, I was more panicked about something else, but I didn’t dare ask him. What if he was the one who changed all my clothes? That would be—‘That would be sexy!’ Mythril squealed with excitement.“Embarrassing!” I exclaimed, flustered, intending to refute Mythril.“Oh,&r
AlexaHarlow lowered his head with a furrowed brow. It was clear he was disturbed, but his reply still made me feel so embarrassed that I wanted to bury myself in the ground right then and there. If only I could have been wiser in controlling myself. “I have nothing. I’m just a poor rogue and can’t give you what you want.” He pressed his lips together. The pounding in my chest throbbed with pain. The pulses spread from my chest to my entire body. Aching and disappointed from rejection, yet I was too stubborn. “But you have what I need.” Peace. I wanted it. “Are you sure?” he furrowed. His voice was deep and low, trying to shake my confidence. I felt a barrier between us suddenly appear and rise. An emotional divider that made me feel distant from my intuition about a true mate. “Alpha Gabriel is more suited to make you happy. You two could be a powerful pair in terms of energy, status, wealth, and glory,” he blurted, his breath running out. Harlow had created a distance between
AlexaOne of my hands reached for Harlow’s hair and gripped it as my head leaned against his shoulder. The touch of his lips and the sweep of his tongue on my neck felt intoxicating with pleasure. I closed my eyes while my other hand gripped his thigh.Moans escaped my lips as his tongue grew wilder, exploring my neck. Both of his hands crawled from my waist to my breasts. The sharp scent of mint and pine arousal hit my nose as his fingers reached my nipples. He twisted, stroked, and teased them as he pleased.“Harlow,” I gasped with heavy breaths.“Hm?”I was already lost deep in his embrace. My cunt throbbed with thrilling pulses. My thighs tensed and pressed together, squeezing a void inside my cunt.“Aren’t you tired after the ritual?”“I’m still strong,” he replied in a raspy voice. One of his hands moved to my waist, his fingers trying to undo the clasp of my jeans but failing. I took the initiative and loosen my jeans. My hands pulled them off until only the flannel shirt hangi
Alexa“Hello,” I greeted, along with a small smile to the youngest child. He hid behind his mother’s skirt and peeked with a curious stare. “Your little brother is cute, isn’t he? How old are you?” I asked with a bright smile, patiently dealing with children. “Are you Uncle Harlow’s friend? Is your wound healed?” Instead of answering me, the child asked back. “Hush, don’t talk.” The woman hurriedly placed two plastic bowls on the empty log next to me. The bowls were filled with oatmeal topped with dried raisins. Her hands trembled, and she fidgeted, glancing at my face as if asking for my permission. She got up, bowing her head. Both her hands guided her children’s backs as they moved away from me. “Hey, what’s going on here?” Jack came over with heavy steps toward us. He addressed the woman, but she only shook her head in response. “You didn’t invite her to play, Gina?” he asked the eldest. “But Uncle Jack, Mom said we shouldn’t play with her because she might be a Lycan,” th
Harlow‘What?!’ Eldritch was shocked in sync with Alexa’s words through our mind link. ‘Have you gone mad?’Yeah, maybe I was insane. I told the only mate I found, the one I cherished, to accept another man’s proposal.I should have realized it earlier—our statuses were worlds apart. Alexa had always been rumored to become Luna since she was the only woman of pure alpha blood at the right age. Not to mention, everyone in the pack knew about the deep bond between Alexa and Gabriel since childhood. To me, she was off-limits. Even though my heart throb in pain, crushing the last fragment of my feelings, Alexa was his all along. Hell, Alexa even only noticed my existence when I helped her escape from Blood Moon’s prison. And that was only because Alpha Gabriel asked for my help.‘What do you mean, Harlow? Tell me it’s not true that you just told me to accept Gabriel.’ Even though Alexa’s roar echoed in my head, I remained silent. I swallowed, trying to moisten my throat, which turned dry
AlexaMy heart sank upon hearing that threat. My eyes widened, and my breath hitched as I listened to how he planned to kill the people who meant so much to me.‘How dare he!’ Mythril growled in displeasure at my mind.“You can’t do that, Gabriel,” I said, emphasizing his name.I called him by his first name, without the honorific Alpha. Even if it was just a small gesture, I clung to the hope that he would see himself as my childhood friend again—rather than the cold-blooded killer disguised as the Alpha he becomes.I narrowed my eyes at him, but he didn’t flinch. His jaw was tense, and he glared back at me.“Yes, I can. I am the Alpha,” he said, stepping closer to me.Hearing his arrogant words, I scoffed. “If being an Alpha makes you this cruel, you should have failed the test back then.”My words popped his patience. In the next second, he gripped my throat. Without realizing it, I was backed against the window, my head pressing against the glass. My airway was blocked by his fing
Alexa“You ignored me when I was dragged away by the debt collectors. You sent Harlow in to save me alone,” I grumbled.“Why? Were you afraid a single hair on your head would be harmed because of me?” My voice was quick, spoken in one breath.“It’s not like that, Alexa. Alpha Alastair’s defenses were tight. Only Harlow was skilled enough to find a hidden way into Blood Moon Pack territory and sneak in. All the guards would have sounded the alarm if they saw me,” Alpha Gabriel explained in a low voice.“What about yesterday? You spread a bounty across the entire land to capture me. Don’t deny it—I saw the announcement myself.” My index finger lifted in front of his face, stopping him just as he was about to open his mouth.“Alexa, honey, that’s because I’ve been looking for you for the past two years. The Moon Goddess told Mrs. Geeny that I would find you this week if I put in all my effort,” he gave yet another unreasonable excuse.“Don’t honey me! I’m not a bee,” I barked at him.“Fi
AlexaI stood frozen as I watched Lorraine. She was furious with her lips pressed together. Her breath was heavy, and she focused on my reddened eyes.“I knew you were eavesdropping. Shocking, isn’t it?” She threw a document with a hospital discharge form at me.‘Oh wow, we’re screwed.’My lips opened and closed, searching for an excuse to say so she might forgive me. But in reality, no sentence could form to cover up what I had done.“How was it? You must have been laughing at me behind my back.”“No!” I defended myself.“Yes, you did. Isn’t that what you’ve always done?” She narrowed her eyes.“I never...” I shook my head. She scrutinized every corner of my face. Her jaw was still tight, as if holding back anger she couldn’t express. Then, her fingers lifted and twisted a few strands of hair at the side of my
AlexaTwo years ago…I opened my eyes and saw the high white ceiling, the white walls, and the small bed. Ah, I must have been in the hospital. I recognized this room from how often I had been treated here since I was a child.I raised both my hands, and they were back to normal. I forced myself to sit up. My finger clutched the hospital gown that had been put on me. I peeked through it. My brows furrowed, as there were no bruise marks at all. All the scars from training had disappeared. The moonlight waned, reflecting from the gaps in the window. When I glanced at the clock, it was already three in the morning. No, it wasn’t a dream. It had been a week since my dad passed away, but I still couldn’t call on my wolf. Why I couldn’t shift to my wolf's form, just like other kids? Why didn’t I remember any of it? My ritual must have miserably failed. The door to the room opened, making a small cre
Alexa“No!” I cut off her words. “I will leave this place. Go far away from all the prophecies and intrigues that give me nothing but burdens in life. I will meet Mr. Pascoe, straighten out my issues with him, take my family’s wealth, and then leave here.”My voice roared behind my gritted teeth, and my breath hitched. Harlow and Mrs. Geeny froze, staring at me in confusion as if I had gone mad. Or maybe I really had gone mad.“Besides, I have more than one potential Alpha mate, so the girl in the prophecy is clearly not me,” I blurted out.Upon hearing my confession, Harlow’s jaw tightened. I stared at him as if I were making a confession of sin. Ah, damn it. I hadn’t told him anything about having multiple mates.A single tear pooled at the corner of my eye. The heat in my eyes spread to my fingers, creating a pain that seemed to squeeze my heart. My hands clenched at my sides. I searched for the courage to support my next words.“I’m sorry, Harlow. I found other potential mates bes
AlexaMy breath was caught when I heard those words. No, it was not a question full of hesitation thrown by someone who knew nothing. Mrs. Geeny’s words sounded strong and full of conviction, as if it was absolute truth. No one spoke. Harlow just sat frozen in his chair. My jaw dropped, and slowly, I took a breath.“Say it again?”“You are The Supreme Luna.” Once again, Mrs. Geeny said it without hesitation.“How—? Why—?” I held my breath, unable to form a complete question. Her grip was still tight, squeezing my hand. Her gaze even softened with a gleam of fervent hope in her eyes. She got up, went to the bookshelf, took an old-looking book, and sat back in front of me. She opened a marked page.“I’m sure you remembered this book, the ancient heirloom passed down from my ancestors. Inside, there were various spells and instructions for magical rituals. One of them was the prophecy about the Supreme Luna. Only those with magical talent could read it.”She smiled with a flushed face th
Alexa“I had seen it, you know?” I protested.“Yes, but you don’t need to look at it any longer than that,” Harlow muttered in a low voice as he turned my body around to face away from it. “Stay here. I’ll check it out first.”I knew he only wanted to protect me, but he should have known that a few blood spatters wouldn’t shake my resolve. My eyes were used to seeing bloody battles, though I had never seen as much as that corpse had. Still, I obeyed my mate—he might have known better.Something was wrong. The stench grew stronger, making my head dizzy. My stomach churned at the fleeting sight I had caught earlier, as if the image imprinted in my long-term memory. The sound of Harlow’s footsteps echoed through the small cave with its dried-up water channel.“What happened to him, Harlow?” I asked, trying to distract my senses from the scent that was making my heart race.‘Curiosity killed the cat, you know?’ Mythril disagreed with my digging deeper into the discovery of that corpse.‘G
Alexa“Here we are!” Jack exclaimed in excitement behind the wheel of the van.We arrived at the nearest bus stop from the western border area of Silver Moon. To avoid the stricter eastern border guards, we had to take the only safest remaining land route.“Thank you, Jack,” I said with a wide smile.I thanked Jack for being willing to take us with his old Rider van. It took more than six nonstop hours with the Rider from the Rogue settlement to the Silver Moon border.Throughout the journey, Jack kept eating to replenish his energy. He insisted on not switching drivers, arguing that Harlow needed to stay in prime condition to carry me out of the Silver Moon area—just in case. Even though they had a brief argument, Harlow eventually gave in. He let Jack exhaust his energy to take us before the full moon appeared.“Thanks, Jack. Appreciate this,” Harlow said to his friend.“No problem! Come on. Don’t waste more time,” he cheered.Harlow and I got out of the van. We prepared our respect
