Chapter 14 - The Adulterer, Brian Coleman

Nina and Selena were the one who arrived first at the Walters' mansion. The maid excitedly brought them inside the house.

"Madam, miss Nina and miss Selena is here", She announced happily the moment they were at the door.

"Nina is here?" Sophie's excited voice asked from the living room. Before Nina could even make sense if what is happening, she came barreling towards her and hugged her tightly.

"I missed you so much!"

Nina looked helplessly at Selena who also shrugged indifferently. Her expression which seemed to say, 'Its your problem, not mine'

Nina turned to look at the woman in her arms who still can't stop acting like a child and said helplessly,

"I also missed you" 

"Let me take you to meet my fiancé", Sophie raised her head and excitedly grabbed Nina's bringing her inside.

Nina and Selena froze the moment they saw Brian but Sophie who was too excited to notice tugged at her and brought her in front of Brian and Mrs Walters.

"Nina, this is my fiancé. His name is Brian Coleman."

Nina continued to stare dumbly at Brian. Sophie who then noticed something was wrong turned to look at Nina whose eyes were already tearing up.

"What is wrong, Nina? What happened to you?" She asked worried.

Brian under the astonished look of Sophie and Mrs Walters went to gently hug Nina,

"Seemed like you really missed me alot, Little darling. You even started tearing up the moment you saw me." He said teased.

"Hmph! You bad man. Your little darling was bullied but you were no where to be found. What kind of man are you?"Selena snorted.

Brian froze and turned towards Selena and asked anger evident in his voice,

"Tell me who bullied my little darling. If I don't make them pay, how can I call myself a man?"

Mrs Walters who had been ignored:"....". 'What the hell is going on? Who am i? Where am I? Who exactly are the fiancé and fianceé? So damn confused!' She looked worriedly towards her daughter expecting to see a distraught look on her face but shocked her head helplessly when she she saw her sincerely worriedly look directed at Nina who was still in Brian's arms. It probably never crossed her mind that there was something wrong with how they interacted.

This was when Sophie noticed Justin who had been standing at the door since God knows when.

"Brother!" She ran excitedly towards him and embraced him. The siblings relationship had always been stronger especially since their father's death and Justin had always also been Sophie's idol. In fact, one of the reasons she left home back then was so she could become someone like her brother.

Brian noticed how Nina stiffened and cautiously got out of his arms to look at the man. That was when he remembered that his little darling was supposedly the fianceé of his fiancee's brother. Since he couldn't get angry at his little darling, he would of course direct his anger towards the man.

Sophie who was in Justin's arms raised her head to look at her brother and asked happily, 

"When did you come back? Why did no one inform us?"

Justin gently stroked her hair but his words was anything but,

"If I allowed them to announce my presence, how can I get to witness such heartwarming scene?" 

Mrs Walters: "...."  'Damn, This wasn't what I had in mind! Something is damn wrong" She swore in her heart, all etiquettes and whatsoever forgotten.

She turned to look at the cause of this messy situation and thought, ' I can't let this go wrong anymore. I have to clarify everything."

"Brian, did you and Nina happen to know each other before?" She asked probingly.

Brian looked gently at Nina and Selena, well, mostly Nina and answered dotingly,

"Yes, we know each other, infact very well"

Justin felt his veins throbbing when he heard Brian's words. He felt that somehow Brian was provoking him.

"Then may I ask what sort of relationship...." She couldn't finish her words as someone who really didn't know how to read the situation cut in, again.

Excitedly grabbing Justin's hand and dragging him along in front of Brian, she introduced sheepishly,

"Brother, this is my fiancé" 

Justin froze, something was ringing in his head. He could hear nothing no more. Those words were ringing in his head, 'Brother, this is my fiancé'.  'Brother, this is my fiancé'. 'Brother, this is my fiancé'

His eyes widened incredulously and turned to Sophie as he asked pointing at Brian,

"He.... is your fiancé?" You could hear the disbelief in his voice.

Sophie could now tell something was wrong as she answered hesitantly,

"Y..es"

Justin started laughing maniacally,

Sophie was startled as this was the first time she saw her ever elegant brother lose his composure like this. She looked questionably at Brian who shrugged indifferently.

Mrs Walters also frowned and asked straightforwardly,

"Justin, what is wrong with you?"

Justin stopped laughing as he turned towards his mother and asked coldly,

"What is wrong with me?. What is wrong with me is that the person MY fianceé cheated with is going to marry MY sister! THAT is what is wrong with me!"

Mrs Walters, Brian and Sophie froze.

Nina turned to look at Selena helplessly, her expression seemed to say, 'See the mess you caused. I should never have listened to you'

Selena also looked at her, her expression also saying, 'He deserves it. I could have done much more worse, you know'

Mrs Walters, Sophie and Brian snapped out of their daze and turned to face the duo.

"Little darling, what the hell is going on? Who cheated or whatnot? Why do I not understand anything?"

Justin snorted as he said, "Keep pretending"

Sophie turned to look at Brian questionably.

"I don't know anything. Why the hell would I cheat with my own little sister! I don't practice incest" He screamed out frustratingly.
