Sebastian found his mother sitting on the terrace, a light evening breeze ruffling the pages of the magazine she held. The calm serenity of the scene clashed violently with the turmoil inside him. Taking a deep breath, he walked over and sat next to her, determined to get answers.

“Mother,” he began softly, not wanting to startle her, “do you know anything about Lillian’s disappearance?”

Mrs. Rojas looked up from her magazine, her expression neutral. “No, Sebastian, I have no idea where she is. I’ve been wondering about her myself.”

“Mother,” Sebastian’s tone grew firmer, “I need you to be honest with me. If you know something, anything, please tell me. It will stay between us, I promise.”

Mrs. Rojas sighed, setting down the magazine. “Sebastian, why do you care so much about Lillian? Can’t you see that her family is trying to drag us down? They’re not our equals; they’re trying to make you feel bad, to weaken you.”

Sebastian’s face flushed with anger. “Mother, this isn’t about busine

She claims you manipulated her and orchestrated these events."Mrs. Rojas maintained her composure, her face a mask of indignation. "Detective, this is absurd. Katherine Alfred is a convicted criminal. Of course, she would say anything to save herself. The Alfreds have always been envious of our success and would go to any lengths to tarnish our reputation."Sebastian's voice strained with desperation, interjected, "Mother, this isn't about rivalry. The night was quiet at the hospital. Lillian, exhausted from the ordeal she had endured, had finally fallen into a fitful sleep. The rhythmic beeping of the machines by her bedside was a small comfort, a reminder that she was still alive. However, as the night deepened, danger lurked just outside her room. Two men, dressed in dark clothing and moving with practiced stealth, slipped past the hospital's security. They moved quickly down the corridor, pausing briefly outside Lillian's room. The taller of the two glanced at his partner, who nodded silently. With swift efficiency, they entered the room and approached Lillian's bed. The taller man pulled a syringe from his pocket and injected a sedative into Lillian's IV line. Her breathing slowed even further, and her body went limp.
