Mandy sat in the cheerleading gymnasium, her anger simmering just beneath the surface. She was flanked by her two best friends, Martha and Lola. Martha, sitting cross-legged on the floor opposite Mandy, was equally furious. "We were all so happy until Katie showed up," Martha vented. "What are we going to do about her?"

Lola, lounging on a nearby bench, offered a suggestion with a sly grin. "We could plot something really bad against her."

Mandy immediately snapped, her patience wearing thin. "Shut up, both of you. I'm trying to think and all you're doing is making noise."

Martha quickly apologized, nervously rubbing her hands together. She reached out and began to smooth Mandy's hair, trying to calm her. Just then, they saw Andrew storm into the gymnasium, his expression thunderous. He was clearly looking for Mandy, and when he spotted her sitting with her friends, he strode over, his anger palpable.

"Mandy," he called out, his voice low and dangerous. "I need to talk to you.

Katie lay on her bed, scrolling through her phone when Lilian knocked and entered the room. "Katie, get up. We're going to the beach with the Turner family." Katie groaned, burying her face in her pillow. "I don’t want to go. I hate the beach, especially if I have to see Andrew." Lilian sat on the edge of the bed, gently rubbing Katie's back. "I understand how you feel. But you don’t have to talk to him. You can build sandcastles with Kat and Tristan or meet other girls like you."Katie turned her head slightly, peeking at her mother. "Please, Mom, I really don’t want to go." Lilian sighed but then smiled softly. "What if I promise we’ll go shopping afterward if you come along?" Katie’s resistance wavered. "Shopping? Fine, I’ll go. But you owe me, big time."Soon, the family arrived at the beach. Katie, dressed in a pink and black bikini, spread a cloth on the sand and opened her novel, hoping to avoid any interaction. The Turner family arrived a bit later, and everyone exchanged
