Ken showed me to the dressing room, which is huge. The space is filled with vanities littered with make-up. The mirrors have built in lights rolling garment racks are bursting with outfits and fill the room. I follow Ken inside weaving between the racks.
"Lexie, this is Maddy, She'll get you ready for tonight and make sure music and everything's ready." Ken hands me off to a tan freckled woman with strawberry blonde hair and Jed eyes.
She gives me blinding smile throwing her arms around me. "Hi! It's so nice to meet you." She exclaimed stepping back. Maddy looks over my shoulder at Ken. "Don't worry, boss. We'll take good care of her."
Nodding, ken gives us wide smile before heading back to his office. Maddy leads me over to a tiny kitchen in a corner filled with a group of men and women chatting amongst themselves.
"Everybody!" She claps her hands getting their attention. "This is Lexie our new colleague. She's dancing tonight so I want everyone to pitch in showing her the ropes," she said making me sound like an amateur. "You'll learn all the names in time," Maddy murmured pushing me into a chair and settles down next to me.
People call out hello's and are genuinely very nice.
"So, since our biggest clientele are heterosexual men all nights except Tuesdays and Saturdays, we girls dance and serve while the boys bartender. Tuesdays and Saturdays are girls nights so the boys dance and we do the rest." Maddy explained as people separate from the group heading away to get ready for work. Maddy doesn't seem to be in a hurry though, so I don't stress. Taking my time to breathe everything in and learn the way they run things here.
Two girls turn their chairs our way, joining the conversation. "I'm Bella, that's Jasmine." The Almond skinned woman with short light brown hair, Bella, said. Her eyes are captivating. Narrow and sultry. Jasmine smiled brightly at me. Her long dark curls tumble down her back and frames her pretty face.
"Hi, I'm Lexie," I said smiling back.
They offer their tips and warns me from certain patrons that can get a bit too handsy or doesn't have the best hygiene. We exchanged stories and chat easily for a while and listen closely to everything they have to say about the Black peony.
"So, what brings you to King's cove?" Jasmine asked once the conversation starts to die down.
I chuckled uncomfortably not knowing what to say. "Long story short, I grew up here and felt it was time to come back." Not a total lie.
"Where'd you use to live?" Bella asked excitedly.
"Oh, uhm, you know that the orphanage?" She nodded. "Around ther," I answered vaguely. If people hear about a woman name Lexie that lived at the orphanage, they'll start putting two and two together so vague answer it is.
"Oh my god. I grew up on the east side in one of the townhouses by the park," Bella responsded and I nodded remembering the area well enough.
Shade and Hunter grew up there. Both of their mothers were single and stripped to get by. I think they even worked here. The small townhouses are a bit ragged and could use some paint but it's neighborhood with a lot of families and single mothers so it was a relatively good place to grow up. We used to hang out there a lot. Shade's mother always baked us cookies. Well, she heated up bought cookies and pretended to have made them.
That woman really couldn't cook. Hunter8 mom could though. She made the most amazing stew. My heart aches at the memories and I chased them away before the girls noticed my dip in mood.
"Does the pack still run things?" I asked already knowing the answer but curious to hear about it. I need to know about the boys so I can avoid them and Mr. Rux.
"Yeah, Rux is still running this city. Though Ryder Rux hepls him now," Bella said eyes glinting at the mentioned of the son. "Him and his friends run a gym and bar on their own. Fronts for the gang business." She leans in lowering her voice.
Jasmine sighed her eyes drifting away. "They're so hot.. it's so sad they never come here." Thank fuck. I think to myself as Jasmine goes on. "They're like the avengers but tattooed and morally ambiguous."
Maddy leans in two and looks between us. "Allison, she's tall with short blonde hair you'll meet her soon, her ex accused her of cheating, which she hadn't, and hit her. She was on her way to work the next day when she ran into Shade. He saw her bruised face," Maddy breaks off and eyes the bruise around my eye before continuing. "He followed her here and put some iced on her eye. He didn't leave until she'd told him what happened. Same day, her ex runs from town with his tail between his legs never to return on pain death." She leans back into her chair. "They may be morally ambiguous but they're good men. Know how to treat a girl right." Maddy adds throwing pitying glances my way.
None of them ask about how I got the bruise, but I read on their expressions I can talk them if I need to. I give them smiles that reassures them I will if I need it. "Any of you know anymore who's in need of a roommate?" I wonder changing the subject. I've heard what I need about the boys. Talking about them more will make the ache in my chest worse.
Bella frowns before perking up. "We'll ask around but you're welcome to sleep on our couch until you find a place. It's really comfortable."
Jasmine nods and I figure they're living together.
"Thank you." I breathe. "You're life saver." They both smile warmly at me and follow Maddy as she ushers me in front of a vanity exclaiming at how the time flies by. Bella and Jasmine help with my hair, curling it in long flowing waves.
Maddy expertly covers up the bruises on my face and neck. She eyes the hand prints for a a moment before getting back to work. My face now looks alive and stunning. My gaunt cheeks have turned into high cheekbones and the dark circles under my eyes are gone making me look bright and healthy. The false lashes add some volume on my own and that cat eye make-up gives me a dark sultry look. My lips are painted red drawing focus to them
They've always been one of my best assets, naturally big plump. The red lipstick only enhances that.
The red bra pushes up my small breast to give them some plushiness and the matching thong sits perfectly over my hips accentuating my waist. I like my small chest but sometimes they need a little push. My ass however is fully capable to stand on its own. My thighs have always been thick and are now corded with muscle. Hips wide and around ass look glorious in this outfit. The red glittering heels are strapped onto my feet lengthening my kind of short legs. I'm 5'5 so I'm not exactly short but not tall either.
The girls lead me around backstage to place where we can see the entire clubbl that's quickly filling with people. It's a friday night and they expect every seat to be fiiled. Bella leaves us to start her shift. I watch as she works the pole effortlessly mesmerizing anyone who lays their eyes on her. Maddy points out the pole in the middle where I'll make my debut. The nerves start creeping in. It doesn't matter how big of small the venue is, I always get nervous right before I start dancing. Then I forget everything. This place is bigger than anywhere I've ever worked before making me more nervous than usual.
Maddy and Jasmine hype me up as they noticed that I'm in need of it. Their words make me relax a bit and walk on steady feet onto me relax a bit and walk on steady feet onto the stage. The beat of music takes over the drum of my heart. It sinks into my skin and flows through my veins as I start to move. I realized that I've missed this.
That I for the first time in years feel somewhat like myself again as I move under the spotlights. Forgetting everything except the movement of my body to the music that fills up every empty space inside me.
Shade pov"Will you shut up if we come?" Hunter snaps at Dylan who keeps prattling on about a "guys night." The man's as loyal as they get and a hell of a sharpshooter but he talks non-stop. He's been trying to get us on to come with him to the Black peony for years."Sure dude." Dylan answers distracted by something on his phone. "Tonight's the perfect night." He exclaimed face lighting up. "They just posted that a new dancer's on the stage tonight. Let's go check her out." He bounces in place like an excited over grown puppy.Jeremy shrig8 not against going. He's the more social of us and can stand Dylan's incessant chatter. I'll go if the others do, I don't really care either way.Hunter makes a show of looking pissed, which he does most of the time. He rarely smiles anymore. He mostly works and keeps to himself.Ryder looks to me and I give him a shrug that says it's up to the others. He's the unannounaced leader of our group. Though we try to be a democracy, Ryder's the one who m
Shade povThe waitress returns turning all our heads. "She'll be expensive. A lot of people have requested private dancers before you."Ryder sucks his cheeks in biting on the inside of his mouth. "We'll pay whatever you want in order to move to the stop of that list."The waitress nods quickly. "Yes, sir. I'll come fetch you when she's ready." She curtsies before hurrying off strawberry coloured Ponyta swishing as she goes. It doesn't take long before the lights on the main stage darken and Lexie slips off the stage. Men boo and call out for her to come back while another dancer takes the stage.Ten minutes later, the swishing ponytail came back and leads us to a private room off the left. The four of us follow her walking stiffly. We look as if we're heading to our execution. Faces grim and postures rigid. We're all scared. Terrified that it won't be her. Equally terrified that it will be. Longing for answers to our questions and afraid of the answers. The room is dim. There's a sm
Alexa povWhat the actual fuck? The rumbling of Jem's truck grows quieter as we reach the suckenly rich part of the city. As we slow down I watch the giant houses with green gardens roll past. Wondering what the hell we're doing here, because they can't actually live in one of these houses. I scowl at the world. We come to a stop outside of a gate. Behind it sits a beautiful white house. It takes me a moment to realize which house this is and why it seems so familiar. Stipping, we wait as a wolf sitting in a little box houses exchanges a few words with Ryder before pressing a couple of buttons to let us in. The gate slides open and we roll inside. My heart beats out of rythym as my gaze falls on the entire house. Big black double doors sit above a small half-moon staircase that leads to the front door. Jem, veers the car to the right and a black garage door opens. A narrow road tilts down and leads us underground to a massive garage. Multiple cars and bikes, all expensive as hell, is
Ryder"Sleep we-" Jem cuts himself off. The unfinished sentence grates on my nerves and I whirl toward him about to smack him over the head with my spatula when I see the look on his face. His expression is frozen somewhere between rage and shock. The usually smiling and cheerful Jem gone. Which doesn't happen often. It freaks people out when Jem smiles as he beats them up, because it makes him look a bit crazed, but his mood is simply always bright, but it's when his smile falls away you should be scared.Following his line of sight, my eyes fall on Alex's face. My blood turns to ice the spatula freezing in the air. A dark blue and purple bruise surrounds her left eye. That side of her face slightly swollen. She must have hidden it beneath makeup yesterday. My gaze trails down to her neck where a bruise that looks a hell of a lot like a big handprint sits as a necklace on the fair skin.Jem whirls and slams his hands down on the counter the muscles in his back bunching with contained
AlexaThey went through my stuff. The world around me darkens as my gaze snags on dad's diary. The very thing they sent me away to get their hands on. Assholes. Stepping forward I reach for the diary. Which Jem snatches off the table grinning at me.Walking backwards he waves it back and forth taunting me to try and get it. I know I should act as if I don't care. Walk away and take it back in a less obvious manner. But my blood's boiling with anger and fear's swirling in my gut. So, I lunge for him instead. Jem holds it high above his head and even though he's the shortest of the guys, I can't reach.Snatching his arm, I try to pull it down toward me whilst trying to climb him like a tree. Jem's arm doesn't budge and I growl, frustrated with him. Clawing at his arm frantically I grow more and more irritated with how easily he can keep it from me. When that tactic doesn't work I sink my teeth into his bicep.Jem yelps, drops the book and moves away from me. Looking down at the imprint
Ryder "You really think she's here to find the treasure?" Jem asks when the front door's closed. When Alex left, we thought she'd either found the treasure and left with it on her own. But when Shade went to the orphanage and asked about Alex's disappearance Miss Lana told him someone had adopted her. Of course, we tried to get the papers to find out where they'd taken our girl but that shit's confidential and we were too young to do anything about it. By the time we were old enough to know how to, Alex was long gone."Yeah, I do. Don't know why though. Probably has something to do with that piece of shit who hurt her." I grumble trying to make sense of both past and future. Shit doesn't add up though. Why didn't she come back when she left whoever had adopted her? Why didn't she come back to us? Why is she so angry now? I have more questions than answers and it pisses me off. My eyes go to the front door as my fingers drum on the tabletop of the kitchen isle. Maddie seemed nervous a
Alexandra"He's going to need a name, you know." Jem states from his place behind the wheel. Tucked into the corner of one of the backseats I'm playing with the dirty white little ball in my lap. The kitten is so adorable I feel like I might combust with his cuteness. It is a boy. I checked earlier when I had nothing to call the little animal and calling it thing, like Ryder does, is not okay. It's a living breathing creature not a thing. Humming to the kitten I brainstorm some names out loud seeing if anything sticks. "Ace?" no. "Bandit?" the kitten sinks its tiny fangs into my finger. I'll take that as a no. "Spades?" he bites down harder. "Ow, okay I get it." I tell him trying to extract my finger from his mouth. "Hmmm. Boggart?" laughing I shake my head at myself. "No, that's not it. Come on buddy help me out here." Kitten only blinks at me. Sighing I look to the front of the car where Hunter reaches forward to change the radio channel. My gaze lands on the word tattooed on his ri
HunterFuck you for making me think for a single second that I'm not.Her words ring in my head. It's hard to swallow through the lump in my throat. My chest constricts and every beat in my chest drives her words in further. We made her think she wasn't enough. To know that she ever, for even a second, felt like she wasn't good enough because of us. It makes me sick. There's so much pain in her eyes. Looking at the grown woman in front of me all I see is a child that was forced to grow up. I can see the hurt turn to anger inside her. Can see her distrust and hate for me and my brothers. It makes the anger in my own chest raise its head. She left us without even saying goodbye. Never telling us why. She ran. Then almost ten years later she shows up, doesn't seek us out and acts as if we're the monsters. Refuses to tell us where she's been or what's happened to her. Doesn't apologize or try to explain. She doesn't get to hate us for trying to keep her safe. She wasn't even happy to se
Alexa "Give me a smile, gorgeous, and I'll let you in. The bouncer to the lion's roar grins proudly at me. His eyes travel up and down my body, lingering on my chest. Widening my stance and bending my knees lightly i glare up at the large man. "How about! Just let myself in?" crack. The heel of my palm connects with the underside of his nose: continue the movement up into his face, forcing him to bend backwards and expose his throat to me. The gun is cool and heavy in my hand as I press the barrel beneath his chin. "Still want that smile?" I raise my brows at the bouncer as he glowers at me. My eyes drop to the door expectantly and with a huff pif initation he fumbles for the handle. I'm not sure his ego will survive being overpowered by a woman half his size. Honestly, men are so stupid. Will they never learn not to underestimate women? One of these days it will be their downfall. Seems that day has come early for the Pride's bouncer. "Hurry up, I haven't got all day." I tut at hi
Shade "You lost her? You fucking lost her?" Ryder screams in the man's face. Ten minutes ago, we got a call from the guys watching one of the roads out of kings cove saying a blonde on a motorcycle got through and shot at them. "Sorry, boss" Vincent lowers his head, shoulders slumping forward "Sorry? You're fucking sorry? Oh, well then, that's alright." Sarcasm drips from Ry's words making the men flinch. "I don't want your fucking sorrys, I want her back here!" "Ry," Jem says carefully knowing full well he's not in the man's good graces at the moment, "we know where she's headed. It's more than we had fifteen minutes ago Ryder turns his back on Jeremy freezing him out. It's not Jems fault she ran but he did let her out of his sights knowing she's a flight risk. So, Ryder's giving him the silent treatment which is far worse than being yelled at by him. After By yells and throws a punch or two, he forgives and moves on. When he doesn't... that anger festers and turns into something
AlexaMy what now? A warm hand covers mine as old lady Ravens wait patiently for my mind to reconnect with my body. Mouth hanging open I sit frozen staring unseeingly ahead as I try to wrap my mind around this new information. "How-why did how do how do you know?" i stutter while slipping my hand out from beneath hers. Hurt flashes across her face before she pushes it away. Not wanting to be touched or comforted right now I get to my feet and start pacing. "It's a long story," she sighs deeply shaking her head. "I've got time." I snap back frustrated with everything. The answers are so close and if she deffects or straight up refuses to tell me, then screw her age il punch the old woman. My grandmother. "Of course," she shifts in her seat getting more comfortable as she settles in to tell me everything. "Amerie didn't live here, as a child she did but when she got older, we sent her to my brother who lived closer to better schools. When she turned eighteen, she came back here. She
Ryder "What do you mean she's fucking gone?" I bite out through clenched teeth. Trying my hardest not to smash everything in dad's apartment to pieces: Michael, one of Alex's guards, quickly breathes out how she played them and took the first opportunity to run. Somehow evading them. I'm going to fucking kill Jem. He wasn't supposed to let her out of his sights, but because he's gotten into her bed, she pulled his strings. Played him like a guitar. And now, she's out there alone and unprotected when not only Sebastian Gild knows where she is and is coming for her but for some reason unknown to us the Pride is after her too. Running a hand through my hair I pace the length of the room. Back and forth, as dad, Sonya and the other highly ranked betas watch, "Keep looking. Call Jeremy and let him know, I'll deal with the rest"With that I hang up resisting the urge to throw my phone across the room. Taking a deep breath, I slowly turn my eyes on the betas. "Send everyone out, and I mea
Alexa"This is ridiculous" I grumble to myself glancing over at the two Pack members flanking me at the bar. There's another two outside the building and two on the root, I don't know what happened last night after we came home and I went upstairs to shower but today the guys were all tense and moodier than usual. They've also upped the security around the house and me. I can't even take a piss without someone following me into the bathroom to check all the stalls before I get to enter one. And they don't leave after that either, Neco They stand outside and wait. I've asked about a thousand times already but no one will tell me what's going on. I'm thinking it either has something to do with the Pride or Sebastian. Even though I'm mad about the bodyguards, lack of privacy and answers I think I'm grumpier about the fact that Jem didn't join me last night. Also got my period this morning so it may or may not have something to do with the swings in my mood. There's no way I'm getting
Ryder Two days with no food and constant beatings hasn't broken the lion. Hunter hasn't managed to get any answers from the Pride member and neither have I. His loyalty just got him killed. Leaving the pups to dump him in shark infested waters a pissed off Hunt and head back home Shade's on his stomach on the floor rolling a jinging ball to the horrid little creature Alex is so fond of One look at our expressions tells him that we got nothing. Again, What the fuck does the Pride want with her? If they wanted to use her to hurt us, they'd have put a bullet between her eyes. They know there's no way we'd give up our turf because of a girl. Even if that girl is Alex "They're not back?" I ask snatching a slice of pizza off the living room table. Shade shakes his head as Draco sinks his little teeth into his hand which currently covers his toy, "What're we going to do? We need to hit them back." Shade hums and Hunter grunts in response. My pocket vibrates with a text message at the sa
Jeremy "You're playing a dangerous game, sunshine." I murmur in her ear, my lips brushing the shell of it. She shivers and my body hums with satisfaction. Her face turns toward me putting our lips a hairsbreadth apart. "You started this game, I'm simply finishing it." Blinking innocently at me she strokes my cock through my pants. The thing is, I know I started it and no way in hell am I taking my hand out from between her legs, but I might blow my load in my pants in the middle of this restaurant. I feel like that young boy who saw Lexie in a bikini for the first time since her breast had grown. I had a love hate relationship with our close friendship. Loving that she felt comfortable enough to whine about her boobs growing, bras, her period etc. Hate that she talked to me about her boobs. For a young boy starting to come into his teenage years it wasn't easy. Although her dick punching us if we stared at her chest or ass for too long kind of helped. Lexie stops a waiter walkin
AlexaI'm lying on a cloud. Surrounded by a cloud of fluffy, soft, hard warmth. Hard? Wait, what? Forcing my eyes open I groggily look up to find Jeremy sitting next to me on the bed with a phone in hand. He's been doing this a lot lately. Because of my injuries the guys decided that they should alternate sleeping in my room instead of me alternating between their rooms. To be honest, I'm just happy to be back in bed heaven. Whenever it's not Jem's night I still wake up to find him awake somewhere in this room. I've never woken up by it, but I assume he sneaks in at night. Ryder and Shade don't seem to mind it and Hunter can't stand to be alone in the same room as me let alone the same bed. "I just googled what chickens without feathers look like and I am severely disturbed." Jeremy mutters without taking his eyes off the screen. Then he turns it my way. "Look!" Oh. My. God. "What the fuck is that?" I grumble turning my head away to avoid looking at the horrid creatures. "Featherle
AlexaThe world blurs and tips on the side. My head hurts. Everything hurts. I pull in a shaky breath and my chest burns with the action."Hey, you're okay. Hold on a little longer, sunshine, we're almost there." Someone soothes in a low voice close to my ear.Almost where? I mean to ask but it comes out as choked nonsense. Car. I think I'm in a car. I was in a car, fighting with Ryder and then... nothing. Everything's dark after that. There was shouting, a big noise and darkness. Shade. Holy shit, Shade was shot. "Where is he? Where's Shade? Is he okay?" Once again, all that comes out is "mmnyeheshmn"."Dylan!" Someone barks somewhere above my head. The seat I'm in is warm and... moving. I'm sitting on a person, my side pressed to their front. Their chest rises and falls with each breath and it feels laboured."Almost there." Dylan answers before turning sharply. My body slides to the right but before I can topple over hands are there keeping me steady. They're gentle but pain still
