“Good.” I say and Griffin stands up. He was actually sitting on a small wooden chair that I did not notice before.
“I will get you some food. Stay here and do not do anything stupid or heroic. Heroes die around here.” He warns me and then he leaves the cabin................
Where can I even go when my knee is aching with pain along with my wrist.
I adjust my head as I look around this cabin. It looks aged but strong. It also has a very nostalgic smell that I can’t particularly name.
There are no chandeliers and fancy silk curtains. It looks like a very typical cabin, unlike the other cabin across from here.
I hear the door creak and I ask sharply. “Who’s there?”
“Apparently, I do.” He replies as he walks closer and closer to the big cabin. In no time, he reaches it and pushes the wooden door open with his legs.I just remain standing in the snow barefooted again as I watch him disappear into the structure..............“Rose?” I hear a distant voice but I pay no heed. I remain standing in the white substance that falls from the sky. My feet are terribly cold to the point of numbness as I watch the larger cabin. What am I doing?I don’t know. I am just standing here, watching the cabin. Why?I don’t know either, but what I do know is that I am not mentally okay. Could be why I could be hea
“Yeah, so we need to get out of here right now. But we can’t leave Sterling.” I say strongly.“Rose, my car is parked not far from here. Let’s go right now, we could come back for Sterling with the police. There’s an assassin literally in there!” She says. But I am not leaving Sterling..............“Oh no. Non huh.” She says shaking her head frustratingly.“What?” I ask her and she sighs tiredly.“You have that look.” Words seem to be coming out of her mouth but I just don’t understand what she’s trying to say.“What look?” I ask and she scoffs.“The loo
“Sterling, what about him?” I ask her hopefully and she shakes her head.“We just can’t leave him here.” I say and I can feel the strain in my voice. I feel like crying.“We have to, it’s just for a while. We will tell the police everything as soon as we are safe.” She extends her hand to me and I look at it as if it’s an alien.............“Rose.” She says my name and I look at her eyes. They look alarmed but yet trusting.I take it and she helps me stand. I then follow her as she begins to walk into the forest area. We are surrounded now by tall trees that I have maybe stood here for a decade or more.“Where are we going?” I ask
“We’re reaching the junction, slow down.” I say to Lizzie as I focus on the dirt path that is getting closer and closer to the actual road. She does not decrease the speed though, if anything, she steps on the gas and I feel the force of gravity pull me tightly to my seat.“Lizzie! Slow down or we are going to crash!” I yell when we are only seconds away from the main road...........As soon the tires reach the main road, Lizzie makes an insane turn on the wheel and I yell out of shock and fear.Everything else goes by in a blur, but at the same time like it’s all in slow motion, but as if everything is beyond reach also. The tires makes a screeching sound that is almost
And that’s when I hear it.The loud, strong bark that shakes my entire core. From one bark, follows series of other barks from the front porch of the house. There is obviously a dog chained there. And a very large one at that................“Back to the car, back to the car!” Lizzie literally runs past me.“Lizzie, wait up.” I run after her carefully. I am afraid that I could prick my feet on a rock and badly injure myself. She ignores me and runs straight to the car, she then opens it quickly and hops in. She closes the door with a small bang and I can’t help but view this whole scenario as humorous.I walk towards the car and open my side of th
“Yeah, sure.” Lizzie says politely and I too nod in agreement. She then gestures for us to follow us.“I will have to warm it up in the microwave, you two should take a shower while I do that. The bathroom is right upstairs, second door to the left.” She says............We do as she says and follow her directions. After a shower, we both step out feeling like new people. She gave us some clothes which were very comfortable. She told us that they were her grandchildren’s clothes.“This marsh potato is heavenly, Miss Marilyn.” I say after I swallow a spoonful of the dish. She smiles brightly, obviously feeling a sense of pride for her dish.
I hear a beep and I follow the sound. It’s coming from Griffin’s pocket. It may be his phone.Griffin holds the pistol with one hand as he fishes the phone out of his pocket. He then looks at the screen and clicks on it.“Someone is making a call from here.” He says calmly...............“Rose.” Jason drags my name. “What are you not telling me?” He is now very close to me that when he talks, I can feel his warm breath.I should move but I feel stiffened.“There is nothing to tell.” I say simply and he raises his hand and brings it close to my face. I flinch slightly when he touches my cheek. His fingers fe
“Excuse me, this has nothing to do with my family. Can you all just leave us out of this?” Ronald says bravely. There isn’t a hint of fear in his voice and I applaud him for that.He also stands up from the couch, despite a literal gun being pointed at his face.“Ronald, no.” Marilyn says softly.“No. No, Marilyn. He wants to be a hero, let him be one.” Jason says. ..............Oh, this is not good.“Sit down, Ronald. Do not tempt me.” Griffin says as he adjusts his grip on the gun.“Give me the gun.” Jason says to Griffin and he doubles back.“What?&r
