I turn around and I smile brightly.
“How did sitting on the throne make you feel?” I say.
I’m referring to him being supervisor today.
He smiles softly.
“Do not talk to me, Rosie.” His voice is calm and collected.
What?
.................
“What do you mean ‘Do not talk to me’?” I ask him.
He can’t be serious.
“Exactly what those words mean, Rosie.” He says while maintaining his smile. He looked adorable at first but now he looks like a serial killer.
I sigh loudly.<
It don’t feel right with him. Maybe we were just meant to be friends. And that’s okay. .........“Oh, thanks man. And look.” Wesley calls for Zach’s attention.Zach looks up from his yellow notebook with enquiring eyes.“Yeah?”“Check your messages. I have double texted you man. It’s about the party at Zoe’s.” Wesley says to him.Party? Well, that’s a surprise.“Oh shoot. For sure man, I don’t check my messages often.” He says.“Yeah, obviously.” Wesley says with humor in his tone.
“You can leave now.” She smiles and returns to the computer on her desk and starts to type.“Good day.” I say and I walk out.............Well that was something.I have to tell Wesley! I take out my phone and ring him up quickly. He answers on the second ring.“Yello. What’s up?”Wesley says and I hear Zach rambling about beer in the background.“Tell Zach I don’t drink. I want the party straightly nonalcoholic.” I say.“That’s the not the reason you called, is it?” Wesley says and I smile.“Nope.” I say popping the ‘P’.
Everyone is staring at us. The smeared blood on Sterling’s shorts is really catching us a lot of eyes. ............I have never actually seen someone get beaten as badly as that guy got beaten. There was so much blood.I know they were rude and all, but I think Sterling went too far. That guy could have died. Sterling could have killed someone if I didn’t stop him.Am I dating a murderer? I doubt that, but I can’t also ignore that he has very bad anger issues and he needs to work on it.It’s like he enjoyed beating that guy up, and that’s not okay.
“Goodnight, mom.” I say. “After you.” I gesture for her to lead the way.She walks in front as I follow her. We part ways in the hallway. She goes to her room and I go to mine............It is now morning and I feel well rested. The sun is beaming through my silk curtains and the birds are busy chirping away.Light breeze blow from my half opened window, causing the curtains to lift in a slow, balanced pace.I look over at the blue clock on my wall and it says 9:25 AM.Holy crap! I’m going to be late for school.I jump out of bed with a fastness I never knew I had. I have to shower, brush my teeth, find somethi
“You’re not going to invite me in, are you?” He says and I chuckle nervously.“I told you not to come.” I say to him as he walks inside. I close the door and lock it. This is going to be a long day............“You smell nice.” I hear him say as I watch him carefully. He is walking towards the living room, like he knows here very well. Anyway, he has been here before. His cologne seems to take over the entire house. It smells so good, making me want to be in close proximity with him just so I can smell it.“Um, thank you Jason.” I say to him. He smiles brightly. He’s wearing pants that hugs his legs tightly, clearly showing whoever that looks at them that he has good legs. They look toned also. It’s no do
“You’re going to invite us in or are you just going to stare?” Lizzie says and I stick my tongue out at her playfully. To be honest, I am not angry at my mother or Lizzie. But I am deeply disappointed and almost saddened by what they did. Maybe they did it out of love, but either way, I didn’t ask for their help in my affairs.............“I don’t think you need invites, this is practically both of you house also.” I say with a smile.Lizzie walks in and taps me lightly on my shoulder. Sterling also walks in and he’s wearing a hoodie and sweatpants. Far from what he usually wears, considering he’s always in some formal attire. He kisses me lightly on the cheek and his lips feel warm on my skin.
“Call my lawyer, Lizzie. Call my lawyer right now!” Sterling says while the officer drags him away. The other officer is being gentle with me. “Turn around.” He says and I do so. He places the cold metal on my wrists and tears begins to fall freely from my eyes..........“Hello? Harry? Oh my god, Harry! Sterling is being arrested!” I hear Lizzie say anxiously. She’s talking on the phone, it’s probably Sterling’s lawyer. The officer is gently leading me to the elevator through the corridor. The other neighbors are out of their rooms and staring. I see a few people talking on the phone.“Hey! What did she do?” I hear a man say. He’s Jake and he lives right next door. This is the
“What kid?” I ask. I am very confused right now, who is he talking about.“You should know him, he was at the house when we made the arrests.” The officer says and my mind runs straight to Jason.Oh, no. ...............No.No, it can’t be Jason, can it?“I think his name was...Jason”. The officer says and my heart drops. “He was real helpful with finding your boyfriend.”I literally can’t believe this. Jason just seems so..innocent. So trustworthy and kind.I know he really likes me but would he actually stoop this low. Wo
“But when we came here to see you, the doctors called and said he was healing remarkably. They said at the rate he was healing, it was as if he weren’t human.” Wesley helps to explain.“But that’s the thing, he isn’t.” I say to them and they smile.“Yeah, he isn’t.” They both say together.............Where Jason and Griffin disappeared to, I don’t know. But I hope they stay there, and I have a gut feeling that they will.Jason has caused all the havoc he wanted to. He has left me with so many questions, including questions about my relationship with Sterling and so much more.Today is Sunday and Ronald was buried yesterday. Of course, we all
When the paramedics reach us, a beautiful African American lady holds my hand.“Would you please come with me?” She asks me with a warm smile and I nod. I begin to follow her and I look back.I see the male paramedic attending to Marilyn and Lizzie and I breathe out a sigh of relief.Things are finally beginning to look like it’s going to get better...............“Ms. Jacobs?” I hear a distant voice.“Ms. Jacobs?” The female voice sounds again and I look forward. I see a beautiful lady. She could be in her late thirties or less. Her face is perfectly shaped and her eyes are forest
“It means he didn’t love you. He might have just been infatuated with you.” Jason says and Lizzie’s mouth and mine falls open.“You son of a bitch.” Lizzie says with a daring smile on her lips.“That’s sad but I think he’s right.” Marilyn says slowly. She seems to be the calmest person here despite the fact that her husband’s dead body is only a few feet away from us.................“But...but..” Lizzie seems taken aback by the fact that Sterling might not have even loved her.“At least you don’t get to a ghost, honey.” Marilyn tries to console Lizzie but I don’t think it’s working.
I touch her shoulders lightly, as to comfort her and she looks at me and smiles. “They’re gone, aren’t they?” She asks and my heart aches.“They would be back. They would be back very soon.” I say to her and she smiles.“You can continue.” She says to Jason and he makes a content face. ..............“Sterling rejected me.” Jason says and Lizzie snorts.“Well, clearly then you are obsessed with him.” Lizzie says and I smile a bit.“Would you please let this young man finish what he’s trying to say?” Marilyn surprises us all by asking.Even Jason is surprised.
“You know what? I want to hear it.” She walks over to me and sits near me. “Tell us why you are a psychopath.” She says. She then looks at her wrist as if there’s a watch there and says “And hey, be quick about it. I want to hear the entire story before you get thrown in prison.” ...............Sirens.A siren is a device that makes a long prolonged sound as a signal or warning. They are usually attached to ambulances, police vehicles, fire trucks, and more.It is the sound that the police cars make when they are on route to somewhere. And about right now, I yearn to hear any hint of them.Just a dull sound of sirens right now w
“But why? Why? What did I do to you that hurt you this bad?” I ask him, I genuinely want to know.He smiles sadly and looks me right in my eyes and I have never seen such great sadness.“You stole the love of my life, Rose. You took away my very heartbeat.” He says............The dots are not connecting, it all seems to be making sense but at the same time, it doesn’t.“Don’t look so confused, Rose.” Jason says as he stares at his hands on his lap.Griffin on the other hand seems uncomfortable with this conversation being held right before him.“Of course, she is going to be confused.” Lizzie says in a ton
“Excuse me, this has nothing to do with my family. Can you all just leave us out of this?” Ronald says bravely. There isn’t a hint of fear in his voice and I applaud him for that.He also stands up from the couch, despite a literal gun being pointed at his face.“Ronald, no.” Marilyn says softly.“No. No, Marilyn. He wants to be a hero, let him be one.” Jason says. ..............Oh, this is not good.“Sit down, Ronald. Do not tempt me.” Griffin says as he adjusts his grip on the gun.“Give me the gun.” Jason says to Griffin and he doubles back.“What?&r
I hear a beep and I follow the sound. It’s coming from Griffin’s pocket. It may be his phone.Griffin holds the pistol with one hand as he fishes the phone out of his pocket. He then looks at the screen and clicks on it.“Someone is making a call from here.” He says calmly...............“Rose.” Jason drags my name. “What are you not telling me?” He is now very close to me that when he talks, I can feel his warm breath.I should move but I feel stiffened.“There is nothing to tell.” I say simply and he raises his hand and brings it close to my face. I flinch slightly when he touches my cheek. His fingers fe
“Yeah, sure.” Lizzie says politely and I too nod in agreement. She then gestures for us to follow us.“I will have to warm it up in the microwave, you two should take a shower while I do that. The bathroom is right upstairs, second door to the left.” She says............We do as she says and follow her directions. After a shower, we both step out feeling like new people. She gave us some clothes which were very comfortable. She told us that they were her grandchildren’s clothes.“This marsh potato is heavenly, Miss Marilyn.” I say after I swallow a spoonful of the dish. She smiles brightly, obviously feeling a sense of pride for her dish.
