Chapter 69

Chloe pulled at Ollie's hand, signaling her urgency to leave.

"Let's go."

Max was taken aback by the unfolding events. He understood Chloe's anger at his failure to call or keep her waiting, but the abrupt desire to end their relationship felt extreme. He attempted to reach for her hand, but she withdrew, fixing him with a furious glare. Then, resolutely, she marched out of the club.

Max couldn't let her walk away like that without addressing the entire situation. If revealing the truth would bring her the peace she sought, he was determined to do so.

"Chloe!" he called out, his voice filled with urgency. He moved swiftly to catch up with her. The club's dense crowd made it difficult, with a group of girls trying to catch his attention.

"Want a drink?"

"How about a dance?"

Max fought his way through the throng. By the time he emerged outside, Chloe was already stepping into her car and speeding away.
