Clarissa
The nuns all greeted Clarissa with excitement. She felt like a new toy they were passing around. She wouldn’t remember all of their names. But the petite woman that stopped her yesterday was Celendra.
Celendra smiled warmly. “While we have you, we would each like to teach you something about magic.”
“Really?” Clarissa asked eagerly.
She had not been able to learn as much on the road with Stefan as she had hoped.
Bertha nodded and another nun cut in enthusiastically. “What is your element?”
Clarissa laughed. “Well, Stefan said that the beam I used on accident when trying to defend myself was life energy.”
Clarissa Centra explained that before the celestials could make magic available to everyone, they needed a powerful nexus stone. Celestials placed it at the center of the world. The nexus stone strengthened the world’s inhabitants' connection with the elements. Then, when they needed to remove the old king from power, the celestials delivered a mighty weapon to the men that were to become the onyx sages—these weapons attached to their souls. It allowed the magic to flow through them without resistance. It fused the sages with their closest element. Using magic no longer used the same amount of energy. Suddenly, they could cast spells that would have killed them prior. This weapon was a huge advantage. But in the wrong hands, they would be devasta
Clarissa Panic rose swiftly through Clarissa as she faced the monk pressing her against the stone wall. She didn’t know what he had in store for her, but she would not let it happen. “Let me go.” She growled and pushed against his chest. He didn’t move. She closed her eyes and focused on her emotions. If she had to use her magic to get out of this, she’d have to concentrate. “Brother Compton, what are you doing?” Brother Melchior’s voice echoed through the hallway. Clarissa opened her eyes to see the young monk turn towards Brother Melchior. She allowed herself a little hope that the older monk was here to save her. “Just teaching a nun
Brother Melchior Brother Melchior grabbed Brother Casper's arm before he could enter the meeting room. “This is the chance that we have been waiting for.” He whispered, indicating their plan to Brother Casper. Brother Casper nodded his agreement. “I would say so. We do not have time to discuss this. Let intuition guide us, brother.” Brother Melchior let go and followed him into the room. Everyone gathered around the circular table. Brother Melchior took his place in the hollowed-out center. He listened to the murmurings around him for a minute, gathering his powers. Then he raised his hands in the air and spoke.
Clarissa Clarissa stared into the dark eyes of Centra. Her heartbeat was unnaturally fast. If what the girl said was true, they wouldn’t need King Righ. But of course, it came with a warning. As long as Clarissa was still alive, the pendant could be retrieved intact. The creatures and other pursuers that she had not known were on her trail would kill her to get it back. Its current placement protected Clarissa’s life, and she would not be able to lose it. She could still offer the pendant the purple sage had given her. Try to trick the werecats into believing they had the key. But if King Righ had known it was not the necklace she wore, then so would the werecats.
Blake Valentine went ahead to find out where Clarissa was. The remaining shadow warriors gathered around Blake as he stormed the monastery. As they moved, monks would try to stop them, and his warriors would stay behind to fight. It allowed Blake to move unhindered. There was going to be no stopping him. It was time they left the monastery. King Righ would be pissed about what the monks were doing to Clarissa. As he moved with purpose and determination, he knew telling her everything would take courage, but it would prove his affection for her. There was no reason good enough to hide his truth from her.
Clarissa Clarissa found herself once again floating in the comforting darkness of her mind. She was confused about what she had been doing. Her head pounded, and there was severe pain across her face. What happened? There was also an urgency. She had to be somewhere, do something. She wasn’t sure what it was she must do, though. It had to do with whispering voices and King Righ. She had to bring him back so she could witness his glory! It was on her to do what was needed for the world to know him again. Yet, she couldn’t remember what was expected of her. What had she been doing? But as she considered her questions, she se
Angel “Over here.” The young girl called. “We found him!” A chunky boy about five years old walked over to the bars the girl was pointing at. The dungeon cell windows were street level. The boy gave the bars a quick yank and pulled them out of place. Two other children lowered her to the ground inside the cell. She walked up to the statue that had been a man last night. He took the face of the movement, inspiring the children to come together. Then he weakened the heinous monster so they could finish the fight. Last night, it was a heinous monster, but it hadn’t always been. S
