(Leo Wilson's POV)
Although I have decided to divorce Flora, when to leave and how to explain it to my elders is a headache.
I attend the charity banquet to relax.
It is held in a five-star hotel in the city center.
I arrive on time and get off. Then I see my nemesis George Howard's car behind mine.
As I throw my key to the servant, I see George getting out of the car with a dazzlingly beautiful woman. He reaches out and the woman takes his arm.
The woman lowers her head shyly. She doesn't know it makes her more palatable in the eyes of every man present.
George lowers his head as if to encourage her. Then she stretches out her slender hand and takes his arm.
I suddenly feel unhappy, but I don't know why.
Perhaps it's because George's new secretary is prettier than any he's ever had.
I've poached so many secretaries from him, but now he has a better one.
As the vice president of NK Media, George is young and promising.
In recent years, NK Media and AM Group are not as harmonious as before.
NK Media was originally our partner and was responsible for some of the group's publicity. When the online media emerged, NK Media did not invest in it, so we set up an online publicity department.
As its business took off, the department developed into a subsidiary dedicated to online promotion. It overlaps in business with NK Media, so NK Media and AM Group began to compete.
AM Group is still NK's client in traditional media. But in terms of new media promotion, I have won many high-quality clients by poaching his secretaries.
So, when I see George's new secretary, I'm happy at first.
I hope she can introduce me to some new clients as well.
"Hi, Leo Wilson, long time no see." George comes over with the woman.
"George Howard, long time no see. Won't you introduce me to this beautiful lady?" I look at his companion.
The closer I get, the more amazed I am at her beauty.
However, she turns her head to avoid my eyes without saying a word. Her expression is intriguing, and she seems a little... Sad?
Before I can take a closer look, George replies with a smile.
"Miss Daisy Garcia, my new secretary. I'm very pleased with her and I hope she won't quit suddenly."
George's voice sounds hearty.
But I know he is actually suspicious of me.
I extend my hand to Daisy graciously.
"Hello, Miss Garcia, you are the most beautiful secretary I have ever met."
Hearing my compliment, Daisy bows her head shyly and says nothing. After a moment, she reaches out to hold mine.
"Thank you." She says in a trembling voice.
As I hold her hand, my heart throbs, and the feeling is familiar.
Could it be her?
She wants to shrink back, but I can't bear to let her go.
I look straight at her, my voice sincere and gentle. "You are so beautiful and excellent. I am afraid that your current position is not worthy of you."
"Cough."
George interrupts me. "Leo, are you trying to poach her to my very face?"
He separates us and takes Daisy's hand.
Daisy withdraws her hand, blushing.
"Sorry, I have no work experience. I've been very satisfied working for George."
"What if I could make you more satisfied?" There is something in my words.
Daisy ducks behind George like a frightened little animal.
George reminds me, "Leo, I known you admire Daisy. But if you go on, you'll ruin your image as a gentleman."
Am I being too straightforward?
But she's so special.
Before her, the women I met couldn't turn me down after feeling the slightest bit of my kindness.
She is the only one avoiding me, as if I were a beast.
In my eyes, she's so attractive even when she rejects me.
I know I fell in love the moment I saw her.
Charity dinners are always boring, but the one tonight is lit up by Daisy.
Before the dance, there is a charity auction.
I used to buy something random for charity, but tonight I'm taking it very seriously.
Finally, what I want is up for auction.
A Sapphire necklace from Mrs. Rachel.
The sapphires are in good condition, but they are too small to be considered the top.
The necklace is a token of love for Mrs. Rachel and her husband, and their story is very moving.
The starting bid is one hundred million.
"Three million." I make a bid.
The other bidders drop their paddles and look at me in surprise.
"I'm so moved by this story. I fell in love at first sight with a woman today and I hope she can wear this necklace. Please don't compete with me."
As I speak, I look at Daisy in the crowd, just catching her surprised look at me.
Her expression seems to say, "That's not for me, is it?"
She is so lovely.
I give her a smile.
She hides behind George again, like a frightened rabbit.
George is a real eyesore!
Thinking like this, I turn my eyes away.
In the end, I buy this necklace for three million.
A staff member brings the necklace to me.
I pick up the necklace and walk towards Daisy.
She is about to run away, but I stop her in front of everyone present.
"Daisy Garcia."
She looks annoyed, as if regretting her failure to escape.
I step forward and say seriously, "Miss Garcia, no matter what you think of me, I do fall in love with you at first sight. I hope you take it."
When she looks at the sparkling necklace, she seems to be moved to tears.
But she firmly rejects me, "Sorry, but I really can't take it. I'm married."
What?
For a split second, I feel like I was struck by lightning and my dream is shattered.
She is married!
Giving me no time to react, she quickly turns and leaves.
I hesitate for a moment, then chase after her.
I catch up with her in the parking lot and grab her hand.
"Daisy, have we met before?"
"No!" she denies loudly, struggling to break free.
She resists so fiercely that she doesn't seem to be as ignorant of me as she appears to be.
I let go of her and try to be sincere.
"Daisy, I don't care if you're married. You should be my mate, and we'll get married anyway."
She shakes her head with a very aggrieved expression, as if she is about to cry.
"It's too late," she says.
I continue to express my sincerity, "Actually I'm married too, but it's a business marriage, and I promise you I'll be divorced within this month. By that time, I want you to be my secretary and give me a chance to prove that we are the destined couple. May I?"
(Flora Mana's POV)I change into my evening gown and head to the venue with George Howard."Flora, you're beautiful. It's just a simple charity dinner, and you don't have to be nervous." George keeps comforting me on the way.I nod. "George, you'd better call me Daisy Garcia in public.""Why?" He is a little confused.Of course I'm avoiding Leo Wilson. But all I can tell George is, "My mother doesn't know about my divorce and my job. I don't want her to worry, but there might be her friends at the party.""Okay. You're excellent, and the man who lost you may never know what treasure he's missing."George comforts me gently. But I still feel sad. That man doesn't care about me at all.Our car stops.George gets out of the car first and gently opens the door for me.Then he stretches out his arm towards me."Come on, my pretty Miss Daisy Garcia.""Thank you." I'm a little shy, but still reach out and take his arm. This is my first time with a man other than Leo Wilson."HI, Leo Wilson,
(Flora Mana's POV)I lose to him again.I thought I could be heartless, but when I see him fall to the ground, I turn around.I call a taxi and take him to the hospital. The doctor tells me he will be fine, so I quietly leave his ward.At the hospital gate I meet Cody Wilson, Leo's father."Flora Mana, are you here to visit Leo too? Come back with me and rest for a while." He is delighted to see me.I am very frustrated.I know I can't hide the divorce anymore. The most important thing that keeps me going in this marriage is the kindness Cody has always shown me.Cody is my mother's first love and he treats me like his daughter. Even though Leo's mother, Caitlyn Christian, hates me, smears me and makes things difficult for me, Cody always helps me out and never believes Caitlyn's slander against me.Now I have to tell such an elder the worst news."Cody, I'm leaving.""Why? What's so urgent?" He is puzzled. In his eyes, I'm still the housewife who loves Leo Wilson with all her heart.
(Leo Wilson's POV)At an elite summit half a month later, I meet Daisy again. She is still so charming in normal business attire that I can't take my eyes off her.Although she rejected me that day, I actually agree with her.I shouldn't have bothered her rashly until I'm divorced.I should have respected her more than seeing her as one of those frivolous women who would surrender to one look of mine. She is so special, and even the way she rejects me is so lovely. And…After I fainted from heartache that night, I woke up to find myself in the hospital and my heart was no longer in pain.A nurse told me that Daisy brought me here. She may not be as resistant to me as she seems. She is sitting a few dozen meters away from me, next to George, the vice president of NK Media. She avoids my sight again.Maybe I'm special to her too?I chuckle and is about to sit across from her when I notice Haden Brown, an acquaintance of mine. Haden sits down beside Daisy and begin moving his chair. Now
(Flora Mana's POV)Leo's check makes my heart pound.I didn't expect that he doesn't get angry after being rejected and even offers an olive branch. Can I accept it?I can't.I shred the blank check and throw it into a dustbin. My only relief is that he didn't investigate me during the past half month.Otherwise he should have known that Daisy and Flora are the same person.I don't want to go back to George and Haden. But I don't even want to see Leo again.Distraught, I hurriedly enter the toilet and hide in the innermost cubicle, thinking what the hell I should do.I hear a strange man's voice."Is your medicine ready?"I realize I was so panicked that I went into the men's room.Embarrassed, I quickly cover my mouth and nose so they won't hear my breathing. In the silence, their voices become clearer."Of course. A small bite is enough for an elephant," another man replies."Dilute it a little bit. Mr. Haden Brown plans to win Leo's money before anesthetizing him. Even if he doesn'
(Leo Wilson's POV)I don't feel well tonight.I've been in a daze since I took a sip of the tequila.I even misjudged a few key cards and lost a lot.I'm drunk? It's impossible. I'm a good drinker."Leo, you just lost hundreds of thousands. Are you going to run away?" Haden is challenging me.I glance at him and retort, "It's just a little money. I don't take it seriously. Do you lack money?""Hahaha..." Haden burst into laughter. The people around us are also laughing. They are so noisy. My head is buzzing.I'm about to win, but when I show my last card and is about to take back my chips, I can't keep sober anymore and faint."He fainted!" In a daze, I hear someone talking.I'm still awake, but I can't open my eyes.Someone turns me over and fumbles for something on me."Is that it?" Someone takes something from me."You idiot. This is just a blue key ring, and we want a flash disk. Don't you know the flash disk?"Blue…Ring…No! They can't take it away!I'm stimulated and struggle to
(Flora Mana's POV)Like a lost fly, I looked for Leo everywhere in the casino, but I didn't find him.A drunken man stopped me."Miss, how much do you want?""I don't want money." As I speak, I see a man laboriously helps Leo who fainted downstairs. It seems that he has taken some kind of overpowering drug.I come too late. But the fact that someone is helping Leo relieves me and I want to leave. But the drunkard grabs me."It's great that you are free. Come with me.""No! Let me go!" I struggle desperately, but his strength is astonishing.I call for help from the gamblers around me, but they either don't notice me at all, or watch indifferently."You have no right to refuse me!" The drunkard drags me and is about to leave. My hand hurts, but I can't get rid of him. So I raise my leg and kick him hard."Damn it!" the drunkard cries out in pain and become angrier. Seeing my resistance, he raises his hand high and is about to hit me!I try to avoid him, but he grabs my hair.I can't es
(Leo Wilson's POV)"Why do you want to know about me and Flora?" I ask Daisy. In the light of the lamp, she looks a little sad."Maybe it's because my marriage isn't going well...""Your husband must be blind." I comfort her."Maybe, so I want to know your opinion on your marriage." She gives me a melancholy smile.I decide to tell her the truth."My marriage with Flora is a commercial one. At that time, my group was hit by the global financial crisis. Flora's father left a large fortune to her and her mother, but they didn't know how to manage it, so they transferred the fortune to me through this marriage. In exchange, I must give them enough economic returns.""Does your wife know that you treat your marriage in this way?"She asks a question that I never think of."I didn't tell her directly, but I haven't been home for three years since we got married, and I don't even know what she looks like. So I think she will understand what I mean sooner or later and plan for her future lif
(Flora Mana's POV)After talking to Leo Wilson about marriage, my heart is relieved, though I heard a lot of things I didn't want to be told.It turns out that by avoiding me for the past three years, he has given me back my freedom long ago.It is me who has been willingly imprisoning myself in the name of love.Signing the divorce papers is indeed a relief. It may painful, but I think time will heal everything.Today is Saturday, a rare day when I am not Leo Wilson's wife or George Howard's assistant, I can be myself. It's been a long time since I've spent time on myself.I check household items in the rental house to find what is needed, look inside the empty fridge and decide to do some shopping in the supermarket. But just as I am about to leave the house, I receive a call from Cody Wilson."Flora Mana, are you free today? If you're free, come over for dinner tonight.""Cody Wilson, thank you for inviting me, but now that I've decided to divorce Leo Wilson, I'm afraid I'd better
