Keller’s POV
“It will take about half an hour, Mister Marshall. You can have a seat in the waiting area.” The pharmacy technician waves to the seats in the corner. “We just need to confirm some information with the Crystal Lake Hospital.”
“No problem. Thank you.” I give her a nod and have a seat next to a woman holding a little boy. He is sucking his thumb and has a runny nose. “You good, dude?”
He looks at me and blinks, not sure if he should talk to me or not. He looks at his mom, who whispers something in his ear, and looks back at me. “I haf a cold. I need anybodyics.”
I twist my mouth and nod so I don’t laugh at him. “Well, sounds like your mom brought you to the right place.”
“Do you need medicine?” He looks up at me with itchy looking blue eyes and puts his thumb back in his mouth.
“Nah, my girlfriend kissed a big dog and got cooties.” I curl my lip to exaggerate how gross the cooties are.

Time turns into a blur of events. Mom comes in and takes Dad out of the room. When they come back, Dad is no longer covered in blood.
