Sometimes, I wish Princess Kissa is close, especially when Theo seems to make invading-my-personal-space his life purpose. Unfortunately, she can’t be here. Aside from she’s not a warrior, she is needed outside to start working on the seal. The plan is for her to move around the island to place symbols on the ground. She is with other warriors including Ami, Nadif, and Elroy. Theo tries to hold my hand, but I evade him. Rather, I walk closer to Klevon. It’s a wrong move because he becomes more insistent on taking my side. When he tries to hold my hand again, I snap at him. “Theo, stop!” He looks pained at my outburst. To hide my guilt, I turn away from him. Thankfully, General Lorant is approaching us. He’s been leading us toward the foot of a mountain since early in the morning. It’s mid-afternoon now, and soon, we’ll need to camp again. “King Theo, will you be able to burst an entrance open to that wall of earth?” he asks, pointing at the place he needs entrance to. “Right now,
Suddenly, the creature withdraws its limbs from me. I drop to the ground, trembling. Klevon attacks and Theo kneels before me. He lightly touches the surrounding skin on the open wound on my neck. I can feel it. Something is in my veins. Something… ancient and… from the gods. The smell… it’s so familiar as if I am at home. “F*uck! Poison,” the creature in front of us says. “What the heck, is that? A she-wolf? Why is a werewolf slave being protected?” “She is no longer a slave,” Klevon says. His massive broadsword is out and pointed at the creature, whose mouth is still dripping with my blood. “Kaiya?” It’s Theo. He lightly taps my cheeks. “What are you feeling?” My vision blurs and Theo’s face swims in front of me. Even in this state, I still find him so… so beautiful. Why does the mate bond act like this? It’s painful, it's uncontrollable. I don’t want to feel like this anymore. My arms raise towards him, and suddenly, I want to bite him. I want to take his blood. I want to eat h
Theo’s younger self swirls around my head. A ten-year-old boy is wearing a bored look on his face. His white uniform has smudges of blood and dirt. He is holding a baseball bat and on his feet is a trembling and wounded student that is halfway on his werewolf shift. ‘What teacher?! You plan to annoy me too?!’ he asks. ‘Want to replace him on the ground?’ ‘Eugene! Students already know you are strong! There is no need to keep on reminding them!’ ‘Yeah, but some of them still think, that because they are werewolves, they are so much better than I am!’ Another set of images flashes in my mind. Moments of Theo bullying the other students and moments that I stop him until he is too annoyed that his focus turns on me instead. However, it didn’t last long. The next set of memories shows how Theo is surrounded by ocean water. They are on a ship for their school trip. He makes a promise that he will make a show of overcoming ocean magic, or else he will die trying. He really almost died.
My eyes open, and everything has become clear. Not all my memories are back, but at least my time with Theo is there. However, I feel massive disgust at what I have done. I had a scandalous relationship with my student! I even used him to relieve myself of a clawing desire for my Duran mate! I am frustrated! However, when I shift my attention around, I realized that I lost consciousness for a while. I missed some things and now, everything is covered in ice. It is freezing and I am not sure how much time has elapsed. Some of the human warriors are also lying on the ground. And in my peripheral vision, I see one creature about to bite one of the warriors. I dash towards him. I am too fast that even before his fangs touch his neck; I am already touching the creature’s head. I am as surprised as the creature. He withdraws from me and I shield the human warrior. I feel strength welling up from my body. I am strong. Now that some of my memories return, I know how to tap into my strength
“Moon Goddess vessel?” I ask. It sounds familiar but foreboding, and yet, I can’t call up any information about it in my head. I should know about it while I was Theo’s teacher, right? Or am I taking up time remembering my memories? Gezer continues, “If you take a look inside you, you will see that you are created together with the others. I am sure she devoured some of you. And when you reached a certain number of offspring with humans, you can no longer bear a child.” “I already know I can’t bear a child. I can get pregnant, but NOT bear a child,” I whisper. I haven’t talked with Theo about this. Gezer's eyes reddens. He looks me up and down as if he can see something that human eyes cannot. “You have been tampered with. The Moon Goddess will not like it,” he smirks. “How did you do that?” “Tampered? How can you perceive that?” “Vessels can identify each other. You should be able to identify me, too.” “How?” “By—” “Shut up now!” Klevon interrupts and points his sword at Gez
We stayed on the island for a few more days. It’s so we can clean up and bury the dead. We also need to preserve the destroyed village within the mountains, and to ensure that the three vampires won’t lose control of themselves. It’s already late afternoon when we reach the shore. Princess Kissa and the others are waiting outside. She runs to Theo’s embrace and smothers him with kisses. I look away. It still hurts seeing him holding another woman. I walk towards Ami and see that she’s wounded. “Hi Kaiya, how was the inside of the island?” “Crazy,” I reply. I kneel before her and check her wound. “You are being careless. You slipped on a rock?” “She did,” Elroy’s voice comes. “We were walking earlier on the other side of the beach, when she suddenly screams, and then, a thud.” “It was slippery!” Ami defends. “Flat foot,” he teases. “Oh, that’s a nice view. See the King and the Princess? They’re kissing a lot.” “Maybe we’ll hear some steamy sounds coming from their tent tonight
It’s dark already and the three vampires have become more energetic. They have been offering their help to the other warriors a lot. Although every time they did, warriors will squeal at their proximity. Tomorrow is our last day on this island. We are just finishing things up before we leave. They plan to make this place a Pitchford station, but since the plan is not yet final, Princess Kissa’s barrier around the island will do for now. I grunt when I hear Princess Kissa moaning and screaming again. I cover my ears. She should stop being a screamer every time she is in her climax. For the goddess’s sake, does she not get ashamed of it?! I’ve heard from Harbin the etiquettes of being a Princess, and this is not one of them! And damn that Theo! How dare he make her feel so good?! ‘Because you don’t want to be in his bed anymore,’ my mind answers. I shake my head at the frustrating thought. Thankfully, Inanna is approaching. As I spend more time with the vampires, I discover that the
It’s already dark when everyone has boarded the ship. Ami is high-strung and edgy, so I know that something is up. “Aren’t we leaving now?” I ask Elroy when I see him holding a barrel of something. It smells like alcohol. “Where are you going to bring that?” “The King decided to ah—stay for another night,” he stutters. “Why are you nervous?” Then, the smell of alcohol is overpowered by the smell of lavender. I turn to look at Theo before he calls my name. I bow my head at him–something he didn’t like me doing. “What are you doing here, my King?” I ask. I glance at Elroy and he is already scurrying away from us. “It’s night already. Shouldn’t you be with Princess Kissa? Or do you need me to guard you for tonight?” He takes my hands and pushes a couple of white flowers on them. “For you,” he says. I look at it. “Lily,” I whisper. Its six petals are gleaming and its reddish-brown anthers are still noticeable even with only the night lamps. “Casa Blanca Lily. You can smell it.
I stand in the middle of an arena. In front of me is an enormous man covered in armor and holding a broadsword in front of him. I pull my sword out of the sheath and face my opponent. He is the biggest of the warriors–at least in mass. His armor covers most of his body except for his joints. A helm covers his face, but even so, I can see that he is very ready to fight. “Ready…” the announcer starts. “Fight!” The crowd of spectators cheers at the same time that the man rushes towards me. He swings his broadsword and I dodge to the left, missing me by a hair’s breadth. I counter by thrusting my sword forward, aiming for his exposed shoulder joints. He parries with ease and strikes back, the force of his attack sending shockwaves down my arm. I take a step back, regaining my composure as he advances once again. This time, I feint to the right and quickly pivot to my left, slashing at his unprotected knee joints. The crowd roars as my blade makes contact, biting into him and drawing bl
It is noisy. Why are people talking about me in my room?! I open my eyes in exasperation. They are saying that I am... Wait, is Kaiya my name? I try to sit up, but my body feels heavy and sluggish. I look down and feel relieved that I have legs... Why though? Nothing is making sense. Confused, I look around. “Kaiya? You’re awake!” a handsome man with black-purple hair says. He hugs me, but I push him away. “She doesn’t like you anymore,” a handsome red-haired man says this time. He’s smaller than the first one but still exudes strength. “Kaiya, you remember me, right? I am your mate.” They wait for me to speak and so I ask, “I am Kaiya?” “Yes, your name is Kaiya,” a woman informs. “The guy with the purplish hair is your lover. The guy with red hair is your mate.” “How does that work? A mate and a lover?” The woman named Inanna shrugs her shoulders and adds, “By the way, I am Inanna.” I try to process what Inanna has just told me. Mate and lover? It feels so foreign to me. “I..
As the purification of the Moon Goddess starts, I am overwhelmed by my own memories. It’s like nothing I’ve ever felt before. The pain is excruciating, and I scream out in agony. But as time passes, the pain only intensifies. Tears flow down my face. But judging from the sting as it flows across my face, I think it is blood. I can feel my mind slipping away from the pain, and I can hear the screams of the werewolves inside my head. Suddenly, a warm hand grabs mine, squeezing it tightly. “Stay with me, Kaiya,” a voice says. Inanna. She presses her forehead against mine and whispers words of comfort. I can feel the calming magic from her as well. Through the pain, I manage to grasp onto her hands, anchoring myself to reality. Her magic and tone stabilize me, and slowly, I begin to focus on what’s happening around us. The Moon Goddess is suspended as her purification process starts. I can hear screams from outside the mimicked Realm that Inanna has done. “Don’t give up now...” she
As we leave my chamber, I can hear the sounds of battle growing louder outside. I can sense humans against humans. But there are also vampires and werewolves fighting against humans. There is the sound of swords clashing against swords or armor. Worse, I see the destruction that the fighting is doing to Orttenburg. Even in the early moments of the war, there are already casualties that can be seen around. I clench my jaws. We must end this war soon. All I need is to get General Brandon and purify the Moon Goddess. After that, we can persuade these kingdoms that there’s no need for war. As we hurry through the chaos, I feel a pang of guilt. I can’t help but feel responsible for the destruction and loss of life in Orttenburg. It was my selfishness that led to this war. I have to make this right. Finally, we reach the hall where Inanna and Ruth are waiting for us. Inanna looks at us with a stern expression. “Good, you’re here. Time is of the essence.” I nod as Gezer puts me down. Ina
After sighing, Seth says, “Fine! But only with Theo, at least him–I trust will not hurt you.” I frown. “If you know that then—” “He will not hurt you, but he might take you away!” “Oh,” I mutter because Theo might really do it. I take a deep breath and the room spins for a moment. Seth helps me back to the bed and sits with me while the room steadies. “You should rest more,” he says, but I shake my head. “I can’t waste any time,” I whisper, trying to suppress the tremble in my voice. “Invite Theo. I will meet him in one of the sitting rooms.” “There’s no need for you to move. I will lead him here.” As Seth leaves the room, I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I analyze the current situation. Theo will always help me. The only problem is, I need him to understand the situation. All we need is to trap General Brandon, take out the Moon Goddess, purify her, and that’s it. I can talk with the Moon Goddess and plead with her about my case. All I need is to be strong enough to wr
Suddenly, I am whisked away from my own mind. I open my eyes to see both Inanna and Seth looking down at me. “Kaiya, what’s wrong? What did you see?” Seth asks. “I come here because I sensed some distortions in the air,” Inanna informs. “What happened?” I swallow hard, my head reeling from all the information. It is my fault in the first place! “There’s no dark entity inside me, but I’ve found out something else instead.” “What is it?” Seth asks. He is looking worried as seconds pass. I grin at him. “I am an apostle, rather than a Vessel—if it makes any sense.” Then, I glance at Inanna and ask, “Did you know?” “Just a hint,” she says. “The Blood God told me that you are technically different from us. Gezer, Ninus, and I are Vessels. You are a little bit different, though.” “Then why did you say that I am...” “Because I don’t know what to call you.” “How is an apostle different from vessels?” “I am guessing that it’s in the amount of blessing you received. Once, the Blood Go
I watch as Theo’s ship slowly reaches the horizon. I can still feel the warmth of his embrace, and his words still echo in my heart. ‘No one can take your place, Kaiya.’ I let out a rush of air as I hold back my tears. He’s only been away for a while and I am missing him already. And so I watch as the ship eventually disappears from my sight. At the same time, Inanna reaches for my hand. “I heard that you will be doing a ritual today. Just inform me if you need help,” she says and leaves me and Seth alone on the balcony. I turn to the ocean and take a deep breath. Despite the distance, I can still feel him inside my heart. “Kaiya,” Seth calls from behind me. I turn to him and smile. “Are you ready for the ritual?” “Yes,” I nod. “Let’s start.” We both take out our supplies and prepare for the ritual. We walk to the King’s private garden—a quiet clearing where no one can disturb us. We start by setting up candles, incense, and some crystals that Inanna provided earlier. When all
“Come on, Theo.” I take his hand and we walk to my room. I open the door slowly, revealing my small but cozy room. Light from the moon spills through the window, bathing everything in a soft blue hue. “Welcome to my room,” I say warmly. He looks around carefully with curious eyes, and I can’t help but laugh at his reaction. “Do you like it?” He draws me close before answering. “It’s lovely.” His arms wrap around me tight and he nuzzles his head against mine before kissing me tenderly on the lips. “I really missed you.” I push back and grin at him. “Well, I missed you more.” I take a step back from him and remove my clothes. He watches me as I peel every piece of clothing in my body. He looks at me with such devotion that it makes me blush. “I think it’s about time you bare yourself to me too.” “Nope, I enjoy seeing you like this.” “Like what? Naked and embarrassed?” “No. Looking at me with desire in your eyes.” Theo takes a step closer and runs his hand down my naked back, se
“What the hell is going on here?!” Theo booms, his eyes blazing with fury. I freeze as I see him, my heart pounding in my chest. “King Theo! I told you that this is King Seth’s private area! You are—“ “Your King has done the same thing in my land!” he growls at Darius, who is much taller and bigger than him. Seth stands up calmly and meets Theo’s gaze. “There’s nothing going on here, King Theo. We were just talking.” Theo steps closer and takes in my state, his eyes flickering between Seth and me. “Talking? With your hands all over her? I’m not stupid, Seth. I know that you wanted her even before you have the mate bond with her!” Seth’s jaw tightens as Theo approaches him. Standing tall and unflinching, he says. “I’m not trying to do anything, Theo. Kaiya and I were just having a moment.” “A moment? Is that what you call it?” Theo sneers, grabbing Seth by the collar of his clothes. I stand up, panic rising in my chest. “Theo, stop! We were just talking, I swear!” But Theo doe
