Chapter 5:  ­­­­Dakota & His Rejection

Alpha Drake Finley BlackPaw of the BlackPaw pack is starting to have an increasing problem with rogues.  They’ve been testing the security fencing around the pack trying to find their vulnerable spots.  BlackPaw increased their patrols and brought all pack members closer to the center of town where they had an underground shelter for emergencies.

He needed help so he called a neighboring allies, the Shadow Mountain pack that was located a few hours away.  Alpha Kelvin Shadow dispatched two squads of his elite shadow warriors to assist the BlackPaw pack.  “Mimi, Vic, I need for you two to take your squads to the BlackPaw pack,”  Alpha Kelvin started to explain, “they are having issues with rogues.  They have been able to hold them off, but they are getting bold, they have killed two patrol guards.”  He sighed.  “They moves all the pack members to the underground housing for now at least until this rogue problem is done with.”

“You got it Alpha.”  Mimi smiled as she mock saluted him making his chuckle.  “Yeah, we can move out with in a couple of hours.” Vic stated as he rolled his eyes.  “Good, I’ll let Alpha Drake know to expect you by tonight.”  Both Mimi and Vic made their way out to get their teams ready to go.  They bumped into two of the Beta triplets.  “Hey, where are you two rushing off too?”  Kycen asked.  “Alpha needs us to head over to the BlackPaw pack and help them eliminate a rogue problem.”  Vic told them.  “Why didn’t Uncle Kel send us?”  Kydence asked Mimi.  Mimi shrugged.  “It doesn’t matter, they gotta go and prepare to leave.”  Kycen told his sister and tugged her along to the pack house and waved bye to Mimi and Vic.

“I hope there’s still some food left; I’m starving.”  He said rubbing his stomach.  “You just finished breakfast not even twenty minutes ago you big pig.”  She snorted at her brother.  “It’s about time you got here.”  Kasper waved from one of the tables.  “Yeah, well piggy boy was finishing his breakfast and says he’s still hungry.”  She rolled her eyes and pointed to Kycen, who was piling a plate high with food.

Their father and uncle entered the dining room and sat down next to them.  “Good morning.”  They greeted.  “Hey daddy, Uncle Kel.”  Kyde chirped.  “What’s on your mind, punkin?”  Her Uncle Kelvin asked.  “Nuthin.” She said.  “Tell me, I know something’s on your mind.”  “She want’s to know why you sent Mimi and Vic to BlackPaw to handle the rogue issue.”  Kycen responded between chews.  “You are so gross.”  Kyde said scrunching her face.  Karson chuckled.  “I sent them because you just got back from a mission.  You need time rest and recover.”  He told her and she frowned.  “You know the rules.”  Karson reminded her and she huffed.

Mimi and Vic arrived at BlackPaw to them already battling with a large pack of rogues and they quickly shifted and jumped into the fray and took charge.  Thanks to the Shadow Warriors the BlackPaw pack was saved from further loss of their pack.  BlackPaw didn’t have any loss of lives during this attack, but they had many minor and serious injuries.  The most serious injury was sustained by Beta Dakota Diesel BlackPaw.  Mimi and Vic found him leaning against a tree as they made their way back to the pack house.  “We need to get him to the pack hospital quick; these wounds aren’t healing properly.”  Mimi said looking over his wounds.  “Dammitt, these are silver and wolfsbane wounds.”  Vic said picking him up and rushing to the hospital with his sister in front of him to make sure the path was clear and to alert the doctors of the Beta’s condition.

Drake rushed into the hospital, “where’s my brother?”  he bellowed through the halls.  “Alpha, please calm down.  The doctors are tending to him.”  Vic told him.  “His wounds are very serious; he was stabbed with a knife that was laced with silver and wolfsbane.”  He started to explain.  “He a deep cut across his chest and one from the top right side of his forehead going across and down the left side of his cheek, across his left eye down to below his left jawline right under his ear.”  He explained.  “Will he lose his vision?  “We don’t know.”  Mimi sighed.

“Drake!  Where’s Dakota!?”  A female asking in panic as she clung to him.  “Alexis, he’s in surgery, his wounds are serious.”  Drake explained to her.  He turned and looked at Mimi  and Vic.  “Alexis, this is Mimi and Vic Castagnoli of the Shadow Mountain pack.”  Drake introduced.  “Mimi, Vic this is Alexis Moore, she’s my brother’s mate.”  “We’re really sorry about your mate but we saw him fight, he’s a strong wolf, he’ll get through this.”  Mimi said trying to comfort Alexis.  “Thank you.”  Alexis lightly sobbed.

“Delta commander, we have finished with the clean-up, the rogue bodies are bring burned and all the injured BlackPaw members are here and being treated.”  One of the Shadow Mountain warriors reported.  “Okay, thank you Oscar.”  Vic responded.  Vic and Mimi decided to stay until they knew the condition of Beta Dakota.  He was in surgery for four hours; he needed a blood transfusion from his brother in order to help him heal.  They needed to use his blood so that they could push out the tainted blood that was running through his system and clean it.

“Well, Alpha Drake, if there is nothing more you need we need to get back to our pack.”  Mimi sadly smiled.  “No, I guess there’s nothing more to do.”  Drake responded.  “Thank you so much for all your help and please let Alpha Shadow know that the help from Shadow Mountain is greatly appreciated.”  Drake stated extending his hand.  “We will, please let us know if there’s anything else you need.”  Vic offered.  “Would you let Alpha Kelvin know that we would like to possibly join your training program.”  Drake said.  “We will let him know and let us know when your brother is fully healed, and we can arrange for you and about thirty of your warriors to come visit and see if they can handle our training regimen.”  Mimi smirked.

Alexis Moore turned eighteen a week before Dakota, she’d spent the last two years by his side, they trained together and prepared for their positions as the Beta male and female.  He had loved her since they were young pups but when he suffered his injuries at the hands of the rogue pack, her feelings changed towards him.  He was no longer the handsome man of her dreams; all she saw were his scare’s not the man she fell in love with as children.  While he fought for his life, she was throwing herself at other males, and not just any males but Alpha males.  She knew what she was doing was wrong, but she couldn’t look at Dakota in the same way after the attack.

“Alexis!” She turned from her thoughts and found herself face to face with Alpha Drake BlackPaw, not only the Alpha of the BlackPaw Mountain pack but also the elder brother of her mate, Beta Dakota BlackPaw. “Where have you been?!  Kota’s been asking for you.  He needs you, the doctor said since you’re his mate, having you near could help his healing.”  He told her. “Drake, I don’t have time for this right now. I have plans already. I’ll try to go see him later.” She said walking away.  “What are you talking about?!  You have plans?  The only plan you need to have is to help support and heal your mate!”  Drake reminded her. “I shouldn’t have to remind you of your duties, you are our future Beta female.”

“Hey beautiful.” A male voice called. “You ready, we don’t want to be late.” The male said pulling Alexis into a passionate embrace.  “Alexis! Are you really doing this? He loves you.  He has always loved you.”  Drake said in disbelief.  “Look, I don’t know who you are, but you need to step away from MY woman.”  The male warned Drake.  “You would do well to mind the tone you use when addressing you’re Alpha, mutt!” Drake growled. “You are not even a member of my pack, why are you here and how did you get into MY territory?” Drake glared at the male.  “I gave him permission.  Daniel, please give me a few minutes.”  She asked the male with a pout.  The male glared at Drake as he walked a few steps away.

“Drake don’t make this harder than it already is.”  She whined.  “Shut the fuck up Alexis! Harder for who? You or Dakota?  The least you can do is reject him if you’re going to continue to whore around.” Drake growled.  “I‘m just thankful that he doesn’t realize the pain he’s been feeling is because you’ve been fucking around with other males.  Dammitt! Alexis, just reject him if you don’t want him anymore and tell him why!  Or are you too big of coward to admit to him exactly how shallow you really are?” He growled.  “Just. Let. Him. Go!”  He demanded of her.  “FINE!” She finally agreed.  “Daniel, baby, we need to make a quick stop before we head out.” She told him rubbing herself against him.  He let out a low growl of pleasure.  “Anything for you beautiful.” He said as he nuzzled her neck leaving light kisses on her marking spot making her giggle and release a breathy moan.  “You do realize that you are taking her to reject her TRUE mate.”  Drake asked.  The male looked at Drake.  “Yeah of course I do,” Daniel stated smugly, “I’ve been waiting for her to do this for months.  Sucks to be him.” He shrugged.  Drake growled at the male; he couldn’t believe what was just said.  His brother was going to be heart broken, he’s loved Alexis since they were pups.  He mind linked Dakota’s doctor to warn him of what was about to happen.

Alexis walks into Dakota’s room. “Alexis.” Dakota smiled wide extending his arms open for her to come to him.  He needed to hold her, have her scent fill his lungs.  She slowly walked to the foot of his bed. “Alexis, baby, I’ve missed you”.  Dakota told her motioning for her to come closer to him.  “Dakota,” she sighed stopping just out of reach, “I’m sorry but I don’t have time to stay around.  I have a date.”  She told him as if it was no big deal.  “A date?! Alexis what do you mean a date?  How can you go on date when…” she put her hand up to stop him.  “I’m sorry Dakota but…,” she paused, stood straight, and looked at Dakota, “I, Alexis Moore, of the BlackPaw Mountain pack and future Beta female, reject you Dakota Diesel BlackPaw Beta to BlackPaw Mountain pack, as my mate now and forever more.  May the Gods and Goddesses bear witness to this rejection now and forever.  I am no longer bound to him as his TRUE and FATED mate.” There was no emotion from her as she recited her rejection.  “Alexis, NO! Why are you doing this?  I thought that we were going to build our life together, start our family.”  He cried out withering in pain as sharp stabs pricked his heart.  The doctor came in quickly and pushed pain medication into his IV.  They were worried that the pain would cause complications maybe even cause his death.

“Why are you making this harder than it needs to be.” She huffed at him. “Just accept my rejection so we both can move on.  I have my chosen mate waiting for me.” She motioned to the window, pointing to the male standing outside his room. “I’m to be his Luna,” she squeaked and covered her mouth with her hands, “he hasn’t found his mate and must be mated before he can take over.  And he CHOSE me.”  She said with excitement.  “Who am I to deny being his Luna instead of a lowly Beta.  I just knew I was destined for so much than just a lowly Beta rank.  Don’t you want me to be happy?”  She pouted.  “Can you believe it?  ME, a Luna.”  She squealed.  She paid no mind to the pain she was causing her TRUE mate.

Dakota had been writhing in pain the moment she started reciting her rejection. “How could you do this?” He was finally able to breath out. “Please. Don’t. Do. This.” He pleaded through pants.  “I have only ever loved you.  I have been faithful to you.  I’ve never even so much as looked at another female.”  He assured her.  “It’s done, all you have to do is accept my rejection.  I can’t be Luna until you accept.  So, please, let me go, let me move on.”  Alexis said only thinking about herself.  “Ali, love, we really need to go.” Daniel said with boredom. Dakota released a growl, Drake put his hand on his brother’s shoulder. “Look, she doesn’t want you, I need a Luna and I have chosen Alexis.  She’s hot and is not a bad fuck either.”  He snickered. “So, accept her rejection so we can get out of here.” He said rolling his eyes. “Danny!”  Alexis slapped his chest playfully, “you’re so bad.”  Drake looked at his brother.  “Kota, just let her go.” He sighed, he never thought he would be telling his little brother to accept his mate’s rejection, hell he never thought that she would reject him. “The longer you wait, the harder it will be and when she’s…intimate with him…your pain will be a thousand times worse.  She doesn’t deserve you.”  Danny snorted. “I’m surprised you haven’t felt it already.” Daniel commented with a snort. “Guess those pain killers are bad ass.” He chuckled.  “Shut the fuck up!” Drake yelled. “Guards!  It’s time to take out the trash!” He yelled as the guards entered Dakota’s room.  “With pleasure,” the guards smirked at the couple.

“Don’t you dare touch my mate!” Daniel growled. “Accept her rejection, so we can get the fuck outta here. We don’t have time for this shit.”  He snarled as the guards grabbed Alexis. “GET OUT!” Dakota finally yelled, “you want to move on?! Then go ahead. I thought you loved me, but you only loved my status, I don’t know how the Goddess could have ever paired us.” He said sitting up. “I, Beta Dakota Diesel BlackPaw, of the BlackPaw Mountain pack, accept the rejection of Alexis Moore as mate, now and forever. May the Gods and Goddesses bear witness to this acceptance.  I am no longer bound to her as her TRUE and FATED mate.” As the last word left his lips, the mate bond snapped, and pain ripped through his heart. Thank the Goddess the pain medication was kicking in as he blacked out.  Alexis faltered a bit but was steadied by her new mate, Alpha Daniel Newman. “Come my love, we must get home, my pack, our pack, needs their Luna.  We can have our mating ceremony tonight.”  He growled in her ear. “Oh yes, please.” She purred.

“Alexis,” Drake called, “what are you going to do when he finds his true mate, his TRUE Luna?” He asked. “Are you going to be ready for him reject you like you rejected Dakota?” Drake growled one last time and told the guards to escort Daniel and Alexis out of Dakota’s room and out of his life. “Danny would never reject me.” She smirked. “He loves me.” She cuddled closer to Danny. Drake snorted, “yeah right.  Just like you would never reject Dakota and just like you loved him.” He said shaking his head. “Whatever, now GET OUT!”  He pointed to the door.

Drake was trying to comfort his brother when he heard snarling and growling. “How could you, you bitch!”  Drake opened the door and saw that his little sister, Dalen, had Alexis pinned up against a wall. “Dammitt Dalen! Let her go!” He ordered her. “She needs to be punished for what she’s done to Dakota!” Dalen grumbled. “Dalen let her go, Kota accepted her rejection.” Drake whispered putting his hand on her shoulder, “he needs us,” he motioned towards their brother’s room.  Dalen snarled one last time at Alexis and ran to Dakota’s room. “Kota!” Dalen sobbed hugging her big brother. “That bitch doesn’t deserve you; she never did. I know the Goddess will send you someone more deserving of your love.” She whispered.  “Thanks sis.”  He said nuzzling her hair. “Where’s Drake?”

“She should be punished for what she did to me.” Alexis screeched. “I demand that female be punished or handed over to me for punishment.”  Danny demanded.  “This is my pack; you shouldn’t even be here. You have standing to make demands of me.” Drake glared. “Besides, I don’t know what you’re talking about.  I didn’t see anything.”  He shrugged. “There are plenty of witnesses.” Alexis coughed holding her throat. Drake looked around at those standing around. “Did anyone see what happened?” He asked. “No Alpha.”  The guards responded. “There you have it.” He smirked. “No one saw what happened if anything happened.” Danny snarled. “Of course, they’ll say that they’re loyal to you.” Alexis snapped. “Yes, but they also despise you.” Drake laughed. “Now, leave on your own or I will have you thrown out.”  He turned to the guards, “make sure they get off BlackPaw Mountain territory and if they try to set even a toenail on our land then you are free to do what you need to make sure they are dealt with.”  He instructed his guards and turned and went to his little brother’s side.

“Right here little brother.” Drake answered. “You ready to get outta here?” Drake smiled.
