Keira's Pov
I have no way of knowing what questions they will ask her, so how am I supposed to help?
"You have been reading countless books, you must know the answer to every question they might ask." Princess Lyna says, seeking an immediate answer of how I plan to help her pass the test of wisdom.
I may have read too many books but I am not the one supposed to answer the questions.
"I can teach you as much as I can before the test." I suggest, still aware that it won't help.
The council wishes to test her wisdom, so they will choose to ask questions that will require profound thinking.
"That's ridiculous. I cannot learn a million things within one night." Princess Lyna argues. "Get your smart brain to think of a better plan before tomorrow. Remember that you will no longer have a job if I fail that test." She says in a stern tone.
It's like she has already forgotten that I am the one that just helped her pass the test of humility. She is yet to even thank me for it.
"I will be waiting for your wise plan in my room." She says before turning away.
I am left standing alone in the courtyard, my mind searching for the difficult plan that will help her pass the test. I don't feel so smart.
"Keira." A voice calls from behind and I turn to see Margret approaching.
A lean, handsome man walks by her side, the same man that tried to trick princess Lyna into thinking that he could help her win the contest as long as she would willingly share the vital secrets of the angel kings with him once she becomes their chosen wife.
Is he the mate she was talking about?
"Meet my gorgeous mate, Michael Carey." Margret introduces with a proud smile. "Michael, this is my best and only human friend, Keira."
Michael extends his hand. "I overheard your conversation with your mistress." He informs.
My heart skips a beat. Is he going to tell this to the council? Princess Lyna would get disqualified from the contest.
"Why do you help her pass the tests when she treats you so badly?" He questions.
There is no point in denying what he has already seen and heard, I will sound like a fool.
"I am a servant, it's my job to follow her orders." I answer with a shrug of my shoulders.
"She is forcing you to help her cheat her way to becoming the wife of the angel kings, that's way too cruel. I advise that we report this to the assistant of the kings immediately." He says in a firm tone. "They will have her disqualified from the contest and you will be given a job here at the Palace." He assures.
I shake my head. Does he really believe that the angel kings are such wonderful people?
"Since I am human your kings would not believe a thing I say. And they definitely wouldn't give hire me." I respond.
"The angel kings are the fairest and kindest of all beings, Keira. They do not look down on anyone regardless of -" He starts to argue but Margret cuts him short.
"She speaks the truth. I was there when King Fenris scolded her for the sole reason of being human. He stated that she would not be allowed to work here even if her mistress becomes the queen." She speaks in my defense.
Having a true friend is awesome. Her gorgeous mate would not have believed my honest words. Now he looks baffled.
"That's so unfair." He mutters, a look of disappointment taking over his face. "You still won't have a job even if you keep helping your mistress. You should demand that she pay you well for every test you have helped her pass." He suggests. "I don't know how else to help you."
"She wouldn't agree to pay for my help, but we made a deal. I will help her with the tests and she will insist on keeping me as her servant after becoming the queen." I reveal.
"We will end up with a dumb, selfish queen. But I am fine with it as long as you will have a job here at the palace." Margret says then glances at her mate, seeking his approval.
"Your secret is safe with us. I trust that angel kings will come back to their right senses soon." Michael assures. "Especially if they find their true mate." He adds and I have to fight the urge to scoff.
They already found their true mate, a human servant that would have brought disgrace upon their great kingdom if they didn't reject her immediately. If Princess Lyna passes the test of wisdom, she will become their queen, forever.
"All the tests of wisdom were the same for all contestants. The council will ask her some questions and she is expected to answer wisely. How will you help her?" Michael questions, sounding concerned.
"I will make a plan." I say.

Angel Garren's pov
"The princess is exceptionally good. Would you believe that she gave out her golden necklace to a sick family of beggars?" Our distant cousin, Lady Doria, informs. "I must remind you that none of the other contestants passed the test of humility." She adds in an effort to emphasize on her earlier statement.
Her proud smile speaks louder than words. The brave and beautiful princess of Silverthorn has proved her worth once again. It's clear that she possesses all the good qualities of the queen we had wished for.
I can't help but wonder why she isn't our fated mate. Which other man is worthy of her perfections?
Her weak human servant is the mate we got. Hopefully the princess won't despise us for that.
"Not even I have ever surrendered my most precious item to the poor. The princess has a pure heart." Fenris comments. "I would like to be there during her last test tomorrow. It's against the rules we set but she is the already winner." He adds.
"I too would like to be there, she sounds like an interesting person to watch." Conrad chimes in.
Why would I miss either? Maybe our presence will motivate her. The test of wisdom is a hard one. Only those who are truly wise can pass.
Keira's PovPrincess Lyna stands beside her king-size bed with her hands folded in front of her chest. She wants the plan, one that is supposed that help her pass the test of wisdom without figuring out the right answers to the questions herself.Helen and Lisa are seated on the floor once again, skillfully cutting pieces of soft white fabrics and lace to make a stunning wedding gown for the princess. She is already preparing for her wedding with the angel kings, like she is so sure that I can make her pass her final test. "I am assuming that you have come up with a good plan." She says in a frigid tone. "Tell me everything." She orders. "I have thought of a plan, but I will need your help." I say. "I already told you that I cannot answer the questions." She insists. "Yes, I will answer them for you." I reply. "But for that to happen I will need you to lie to Lady Doria and the council." "Lie about what?" She questions. "Having a sore throat." I answer. They are indeed here. I am not sure I can think clearly in their presence. It's not just their scents affecting my senses, our mate bond isn't broken because I never accepted their rejection. I will feel an unneeded attraction towards them. I must act like I have never met them, like I am not their mate. In order to make Princess Lyna their future wife, I need to focus on correctly answering the questions, help her pass the test of wisdom without them noticing.Their beautiful faces are the first thing I notice when we walk into the hall. It's sad that their breathtaking beauty is only skin deep. I watch as they rise from their seats behind the council and start approaching. The air around me thickens with their scents, but their eyes are on Princess Lyna. Their amorous smiles make my heart swell with pain. They are stunned by her beauty, which is enhanced by layers of makeup and the shimmering jewellery. Princess Lyna bows her head slightly in a show of respect and luckily rememb

I take deep breaths to overcome the apprehension as he posses the first question."If you marry our kings and this kingdom happens to go to war with your father's kingdom, where would your loyalties lie, your highness?" He questions. I didn't expect the questions to be so difficult. I take my time to reflect while Princess Lyna pretends to write her answer on the parchment. Apparently the beloved princess isn't capable of writing a comprehensible answer, probably because she isn't even trying. I stare at the paper as if reading from it as I personally answer the question."If it were within my pow
PrologueMany years ago, the Kingdom of lunacrest had many enemies and was plagued by war and death. When the king died in battle, people say that his distressed queen had an affair with an unknown Devine being while seeking help to end the war and suffering of her people. She gave birth to three immortal sons, popularly known as the triplet angel kings of Lunacrest. With their might they conquered the enemies of Lunacrest and oversaw the rebuilding of the Kingdom. Both human and werewolf kings of the neighbouring kingdoms gladly paid homage to them. For many years, none of the angel kings has ever showed interest in marriage or relationships, but four weeks ago messegers from their kingdom spread out word that a contest has been set for all the royal ladies of the surrounding kingdoms to compete for the chance to be the queen of Lunacrest, married to one or all the three angel kings. Keira's povHow can I know what would interest the great kings just a few minutes after arriving? The Princess will never pass the test of patience if there is one."Your highness, I do not think it's possible to get the attention of the busy kings right now. We do not know much about them yet." I try to reason with the princess. But she scoffs as expected. She and reasoning simply do not get along. "You're useless to me if you cannot compose that letter. I should have picked someone with better brains." She says and I immediately become apprehensive. "I will do the best I can, your highness. Give me a moment to think." I assure and she shrugs her shoulders after a moment of glaring at me. I pick up my small bag that has two dresses and a couple of books in it. I make my way to the next room where Lady Doria said that there are beds for me, Lisa and Helen. I walk into the small room with four beds and a single wooden table at the centre. The room is much better than the dark baseme
Keira's PovHelen and Lisa gets done styling Princess Lyna's hair with golden pins just as Lady Doria walks into the room without bothering to knock. Princess Lyna rises and bows her head in respect. "I assume you have rested well and that you're ready for your first test. One of your most impressive virtues will be tested today." She says and Lyna confidently nods her head. "Good, follow me, the council is waiting." Lady Daria says and turns to lead the way out. We all follow behind, Lyna wearing an excited smile. She trusts that her beauty will impress the council enough to help let her pass the tests. Lady Doria leads us towards a different palace building reserved for kings' officials and other employees. The paved paths are full of uniformed servants in haste and crowds of unknown people. Princess Lyna holds her head high as she walks gracefully behind Lady Dorian. A plump servant carrying a tray with plates of food and glasses of wine walks fast towards us. She walks steadi
Keira's POV"How could they do this to me? A servant ruined my dress and I was supposed to remain calm?" Princess Lyna fumes, pacing around the room. She changed into another exquisite dress, but her eyes are still wet from all the crying."I am sorry your highness, their tests seem to be quite tricky. But you have only failed one test, we still have a great chance of winning." Helen comforts. "How can I pass another test if they are so difficult and humiliating?" Lyna laments. We all fall silent for a long moment. Our hosts seem to be testing a person's character and I think Princess Lyna would easily pass if she were a good person. No good person would react the way she did. But telling her that would make her more furious. "I know that Keira is a weak human, but she did seem to notice that you were being tested. I think it might get easier if you let her help." Lisa surprisingly suggests. It's the first time she has acknowledged that I am not completely useless. I smile inward
Keira's PovAnxiety makes my intestines churn as the man unfolds the letter. The letter got the attention of the kings just as Princess Lyna wanted, but I will still be in trouble for what I wrote."Congratulations, Princess of Silverthorn. You're the second contestant to get the attention of our kings through a letter." The man announces and Princess Lyna literally jumps. "Yes! I knew it!" She screams in exhilaration. "They must be impressed!"The man nods his head. "Of course they are. A woman with combat skills and a gift of courage is a rare gem. You must be proud of your unique skills to challenge the angel kings to a duel. Not even the best of our knights has ever done that, believe me we are all intrigued." He says and Princess Lyna freezes. She matches forward and snatches the letter from his hands. Her mouth falls open with shock as she quietly reads the contents of the letter. I would not have suggested a test of combat skills and courage if she had not pressured me to wr

With Helen and Lisa holding the tail of Princess Lyna's dress, we have to walk slower than the others. The space between us and the councilmembers keeps increasing as we go. The populated city of Lunacrest is like a beehive, full of activities and still incredibly organized.People stare at Princess Lyna just like she wanted. She waves her hand, charming them with her precious attention. She stops waving instantly when Lady Doria and her councilmembers start leading us through what looks like an extremely impoverished section of the city.Wretched beggars step out of dilapidated buildings and start following us, pleading for coins. Helen and Lisa lift the tail of Princess Lyna's dress higher and pick up pace in a desperate attempt to get away from the miserable people. Lady Doria and her councilmembers seem unbothered as they keep glancing back at us several more times than before. This must be the test."Please leave us a coin . . . your highness! My husband is dead and my sons a
Keira's povI step out to find a smiling Margret standing at the door of our small servant quarters, a red rose in her right hand. I wonder where she has been throughout the day. She wasn't at the banquet, nor anywhere I walked."You look sad," she observes, "did any of the angel kings scold again?" She asks in a voice full of concern. I am supposed to keep it a secret that I am the mate of the angel kings, so I choose to lie."My mistress had a hard day. We are all just tired." I say. "I am sorry that your mistress failed the test so terribly. I should have been there to help." She says ruefully. "Where were you?" I ask."I met my mate." She informs with a joyous smile. "He doesn't care that I am human. He accepted me because he believes I am a good person. Lady Doria gave us a day off so we could go out and celebrate our meeting." She expounds, her eyes glowing with pride. She got a mate who appreciates her benign character. I wish the same had happened to me. Even a poor peasan
Keira's Pov"What did the angel kings speak to you about?" Princess Lyna demands for the tenth time, her curiosity turning into anger as I stay quiet."None of my maids are allowed to keep secrets. So speak up or I will send you back to Silverthorn to become the pack slave like you were supposed to be!" She threatens. "I do not see a reason she is withholding that information unless she was called to speak foul of our mistress." Helen eagerly excuses. I shake my head, finally tired of enduring their demands and threats. If I had a choice, no one would ever know about the angel kings being my mates or their rude rejection. But right now the only other choice I have is to return to Silverthorn, get banished or become the slave of the pack."You better not have said anything awful about me, human! I will claw off your skin before getting the palace guards to throw you out!" Princess Lyna hisses, her angry wolf claws breaking through the tips of her fingers."I wasn't summoned to talk a
The two guards push the doors open without inquiring my identity or intent. The alluring scents flood my nostrils and I allow myself to breathe deeper, welcoming their soothing abilities.I know they are the scents of the angel kings. I however do not understand why they are so profound tonight. The guards gesture at me to go ahead and walk in alone while the palace servants wait at the door. My stomach churns as I take steps into the spacious chamber. The throne room is a blend of beauty, opulence and grandeur. The furniture is made of rich, dark woods, upholstered in lush fabrics adorned with embroidery and patterns. Massive fireplaces line the walls, their roaring fires casting warmth throughout the room. The floor rises at the far head of the room where three beautiful figures sit on majestic thrones. Their striking faces are as alike as three peas in a pod. A strange, overwhelming urge to run up to them and take each into my arms suddenly grips my mind and I have to literally
Keira's PovHellen and Lisa sit on a mat on the floor with the finest fabrics scattered all around them. They are carefully sewing another exquisite dress for Princess Lyna. The refined princess tried on the ones in the closet and didn't think any outlines her curves well enough to make the angel kings wish she was their queen. So she ordered her favourite maids to make another, cut and sewn in accordance to her wishes. I am standing aside, holding the threads and needles for them since I am not allowed to touch anything that the Princess might wear or eat. They always act like I have a disease she might catch. Princess Lyna lies in bed, waiting for her servants to make the loveliest of dresses for her to wear during the duel with the angel kings. I wonder if she has considered learning one or two things about sword fighting. Not that there is time to learn much, which means that the kings will realise that she got no combat skills as soon as she steps into the battlefield in a tigh
