Keira's Pov
A knock jolts me awake but something heavy pins me down against the soft mattress beneath me. Garren sighs as he rolls away, allowing me to sit upright.
Conrad pulls me against the hard muscles of his bare chest and showers my face with kisses until I pull away and roll out of the bed.
Fenris is still asleep close to the left edge of the bed, his face buried into a pillow. I am sure he is having a hard time breathing but is too deeply asleep to feel it. Conrad takes hold of his arm and roughly flips him over, causing him to wake.
Last night after we returned from the battle they asked me to share my bed with them and somehow I was too tired to argue. We had a great dinner to celebrate yesterday's victory while the soldiers and officials had a feast in the large hall.
We secretly returned with the darkstone wrapped with my father's thick coat because none of us could hold it with bare hands. It's now locked up in a secure room in the basement, and only Fenris shall keep the key.
I only took half a glass of wine during the dinner while each of my mates took about six glasses. Still I was the most tired, probably because I felt useless after failing to get my own powers. My mates insisted on escorting me to my chambers to sleep then asked if they could join in. I could not decline their request after I promised to give our marriage a chance.
At least because if their lulling scents I did not get any nightmares. But my back pains because Garren and Conrad just found it easier to rest their heads on my abdomen instead of on the many pillows on the bed.
"Why do they always wake us so early?" Conrad complains while still laying flat on the bed.
I walk to the door and open it slightly.
"Your Majesty," Henry bows in respect. "I wish to inform you and your husbands that alpha Cedric is here and wishes to congratulate you on your great victory," he informs.
Alpha Cedric wasn't among the alphas that lead their armies to invade us. He made the right decision to side with us and it's the only reason he is alive. Now he is a great ally of this kingdom.
"Tell him the angel kings will be seeing him soon," I say to Henry, taking a step back into the room.
"There is something else," he adds urgently and I turn to face him again.
"Someone that claims to be your mother is also here. She wishes to see you," he reports.
I am speechless for a long moment. My mother who abandoned us when I failed to phase is here to see me?
She made it clear that she felt too ashamed of my failure to phase that she would not want to see my face again. Father begged her to stay but she said that her little love for him wasn't enough to make her withstand the endless shame.
Nothing could have made her change her mind within the few years she spent way from us. She was never my favourite parent and I quickly got used to her absence. I didn't miss her.
"I will come meet her," I say and Henry bows one last time before leaving.
"I got to go see my mother. Alpha Cedric is also waiting to see you," I tell my mates who seem to have already heard.
"If I may ask, isn't your mother the one that abandoned you and your father?" Fenris questions.
I nod. My father must be the one that told them because I never did.
"Yes. But she is here now and I have to talk to her," I answer.
Conrad rises from the bed and approaches, his eyes filled with concern.
"She abandoned you when you needed her most, Keira. Why would you even want to talk to her?" he asks.
"I talk to you every day despite the fact that you too hated me before I found my strength," I remind.
"That was a mistake," he argues.
"No it wasn't. I too was ashamed of myself when I failed to phase. No one loves what is bad and I was wrong to expect my mother to." I say.
They all look saddened by my words. But I said the truth. They like me now because I proved that I have some value. Unconditional love is way too rare.
"We barely knew you when we rejected you. We didn't know your heart, your wisdom or your kindness. But Your mother knew the kind of person you are and she still left you and your father," Garren points.
I guess that proves that she didn't care if I had other values or not. She just wanted to escape the shame.
My father missed her for a long time but never hated me for making her leave. He said that it was not my fault that I didn't get a wolf and for that reason he would not abandon me.
I doubt that my mother is here to say she was wrong. She must have a glorious life of her own now.
"I will just hear what she has to say," I say and leave the room.
I am curious about what she seeks, but I am not really excited to meet her again. My love for her died a long time ago. I halt at the open door of the less opulent palace drawing room and see her seated on the most elegant couch while sipping a glass of wine. She got a confident posture, like a queen seated on her throne. I see no remorse in her eyes, so she isn't here to say she is sorry."Why is my daughter taking so long to come? Hasn't that old servant gotten to her chambers yet?" she asks the two young servants in the room. "Sir Henry is as fast as everyone else here, m'lady. I am sure there is a reason her majesty is taking her time," one servant answers. "The wait is getting tiring. Hurry, fill my glass," she orders and the servant walks forward to fill her glass with more wine.I almost forgot how prideful she used to be. Yet gettin married is the only thing she has ever accomplished. But maybe she did achieved much more while away from us.I stride into the room and she f
Angel Conrad's PovAlpha Cedric now wears robes of the finest silk, and pendants made of gold hang from his neck. He is a respectable leader now that he made the right decision for the first time in his life.We owe him alot. And I am sure he is here to claim an alliance. "I had no doubt that you would win against those idiots, your great victory thrilled me more than the day I met my wife nevertheless," he praises. "You should have been there, seeing everything yourself would have been a better experience than hearing about it," Fenris says. The alpha shakes his head. "A simple warrior like myself in a war of wishes would have been most useless and most vulnerable. Not to mention how enraged your enemies would have been to see their traitor." He responds.I don't think he was a coward not to come, he and his army would have been a useless burden to us. "Before yesterday my people had lost faith in my rule," he confesses, "but now they say I am wiser than my father. That being you
Angel Fenris's PovWe pull the horses to a halt a few steps away from the small clearing. Conrad helps our mate get off the horse, holding her closely like a treasure. She has been different since she said that we truly love her like she had just discovered it. She smiled and laughed while we took turns training her to ride. She learns first, which means the training isn't going to last as long as I had hoped it would. "Let's rest here for a short while before returning to the palace," I say, spreading the soft mat we had carried on the grass. Garren brings over the edibles and we all lay down on the mat, Keira at the centre. She surprisingly reaches out and caresses my hair, her tender touch flooding my body with the sweetest sensations.Conrad leans in and kisses her neck while Garren fondles her bare foot. I take her hand in mine and kiss the tips of her fingers."Your heart and mind reminds me of someone special, someone I loved dearly," I whisper."It's an honor to be able to
Keira's PovWho would have thought that this story would end with me in a white dress? A lowly human servant turned queen of tge mightiest kingdom, the tale of my accomplishments has been embellished to a point of becoming unbelievable. It puzzles me how I am supposed to live up to the impossible image they have of me. Parents came with their young daughters so they can see me. Now the wedding has to happen outside the main palace because there are too many of them to fit in the hall. I wonder if they realise that I would never have chosen to go through the pains and challenges I went through if I had a choice."You will look truly stunning once we add the jewelry," one of my bridesmaids tells, her smile almost lulling away my anxiety. It took them four hours to perfectly style my hair with over twenty silver pins. Now I am getting tired of standing in one place as they work on my dress."You're lucky your waist is so small, your majesty. You won't have to wear a corset and die of su
Angel Conrad's PovI don't know of a royal that isn't present in this feast together with their kin. Even the Alphas of far lands are in the room. Glad We had enough food prepared for both the rich and the poor. The difference is that the food and wine for Royals was served inside this huge hall while the commoners are having their feast outside."Who would have thought that a wise human girl would gain more glory than the mighty angel kings in a period of few months?" the old alpha of Blackmoon pack says in a playful tone and the royals sited around the long table burst out with laughter. Our mate has truly become a legend, to a point she is now thought to be more powerful than us despite the fact that no one else apart from us and her father knows of her unique powers."With that breathtaking face one can barely believe she is human," the young Prince of Howlstone pack comments, casting an amorous gaze at our mate who sits at a different table with the alpha of Silverpaw and the you
KEIRA'S POVWhat was I thinking? That after the wedding we would just hang out here chatting like old friends? I clearly did not think about all the intricacies of marriage because otherwise I would have disappeared forever and allowed them to love Lyna. The idea of being naked in front of their eyes would not have scared her to the core. Unlike me she was eager and confident when offering her body to them. I am more terrified than I ever have been just thinking of what is expected of me. My body stiffens as my newly wed husbands take steps towards me. Do we have to do this?"Look at you, so effortlessly beautiful and standing all alone," Garren says while wrapping his strong hands around my waist. Conrad comes from behind, pulls back my hair and nibbles at my right ear. Their alluring scents lull some of my nerves, but a huge potion of the anxiety still remains. Angel Fenris closes in and straight away smashes his lips against mine. The hands of his brothers explore my body, and t
Keira's pov"I don't feel ready for this. I might have made a mistake," I say. They all raise their eyebrows, looking quite bewildered. "You don't mean that . . . marrying us was a mistake, right?" Angel Fenris questions. I don't know how to apologise for this without hurting them. I am failing them in the worst way possible. "I don't think I was ready to be your queen. I am utterly terrified of . . . " "Sex?" Conrad questions. He doesn't sound as angry as I had expected. "It's fine to be shy the first time. You should know that you're absolutely beautiful, Keira. And making love isn't an immoral thing between married couples.""You can touch us too if you like. Would you feel more confident if we got naked?" Garren asks with a smirk. I am their mate and should be flattered. But I am still overwhelmed by indescribable fear."I don't think my instincts are working well," I say. "Can I get a glass of water?" "Sure. We can also hold ourselves tonight. Wait for the moment that you'
Keira's PovI feel like I have lost them despite their presence right beside me. Without a mate bond they would never have me as a potential queen or wife. I also doubt that without it I can keep them all."Is there a chance that you may have made the wrong wish with the stone? Or maybe that witch Lyna did it," Angel Fenris asks while chewing on a piece of bread with disinterest."I did not make any wishes concerning our mate bond. Lyna died before she could make every one of hers. I do not think this has anything to do with the stones," I answer. We could ask my father to make his last wish and restore our mate bond. But I am afraid of using that wish when we have no idea who or what is behind the loss of our mate bond."I must revisit the sacred fountain, find out if I can get some answers from those mysterious waters," I say."We shall come with you," Garren says."No. We still don't know what is behind this. The palace must remain well guarded, not just by soldiers," I point. "You
Keira's Pov"Both your father and your friends are fine. They just had a meal and are now resting. We let them out of the cells in the basement after realising that it wasn't you that ordered their ," Fenris the honestly. "Arina ordered their imprisonment?" I ask in a furious tone. You yup"They attacked her and she demanded that they be locked up," he answers. "We did notice that the prideful decision was unlike you. We thought that you would ask for their release after calming down. But you went for our bodies instead."I would snap that witch's neck if she had not escaped. "If my actions are unlike my character again, lock me up intil you're sure it's me," I order. "Last time we were all together you were afraid of our touch, now you're not. Should we lock you up until we are sure it's you, your majesty?" Conrad asks teasingly while invading my space once more."I should have both of you punished for even imagining you can do that," I respond calmlyBoth him and Fenris chuckle,
Keira PovAlluring scents fill my nostrils as my mind reawakens. It's been days since the last time I inhaled those scents. Back when our mate bond existed. So this must be a dream. I briefly struggle to get my eyes open. A pair of soft lips kisses mine just as my eyes finally blink open. "Told you she just needed our close touch," Garren says after pulling back. "She has woken," he anounces and two more beautiful faces gather next to him, staring down at me with happy smiles. It's not a dream, our mate bond is back. Probably because of the shaman's death. We didn't get to celebrate our marriage, and after getting nearly killed I finally realised how fragile everything in life is. I was too focused on winning battles that I forgot to enjoy my relationship with my gorgeous mates.Arina's attack awakened the part of me that desired pleasant things again. Because I learned that anything can be taken away easily and all that will be left is regret. Because I didn't allow myself time to
Conrad's PovIf I had known this is what would happen I would not have allowed Keira to be part of this fight. She almost lost her life and will probably take days if not weeks to recover from the injuries. Not even our mate bond is present to help her heal faster."Where is her father?" I ask my brothers. It's obvious they do not want to talk about that. A thing that worries me because they were under Shaman's spell. "When that witch and her father arrived Keira's father and her friends tried attacking them. Of course we thought the woman was Keira so we defended her," Garren answers. "You didn't kill them, did you?" I ask. "No. The witch demanded that they be punished and locked up. We let the soldiers do the dirty work since we did not want to be directly involved. We thought that she would regret the decision later," Fenris answers. I wonder how bad the punishment was because there is a chance that our mate's father will never forgive us. I understand that my brothers were und
Angel Fenris's Pov I should have killed that witch before she had the chance to use the darkstone. Problem is I wanted to have fun killing her slowly and using different unbearable ways. I wanted her to die screaming apologies to Keira."Where is my Father and Ezra?" our mate asks with a concerned expression despite the pain she must be feeling. The truth would infuriate her. We made terrible mistakes while under that witch's spell. Telling her where her father and friends are when we have hurt her so much would make her hate us. I made her mind hurt excruciatingly whilst thinking that she is the witch. I cannot give her more bad news. Conrad stares at us curiously. Of course he doesn't understand why we cannot talk about our mate's father right now. "You're losing blood. Let me remove the blade out of your hand so we can take you to the doctor," I say to our mate, avoiding answering the question about her father and friends. Garren holds her tighter as I pull the sharp blade out o
Angel Garren's PovKeira would never ask us to kill our own brother, regardless of the fact that he is under the control of a wicked witch. Our mate was of pure heart. She would never demand the murder of someone that is not under control of his mind. I used to think that no other woman can have Keira's face, but our brother's witch looked and sounded exactly like her. We would have been fooled as well if Keira had not already found a way to restore our mate bond. But I am shocked that she is now demanding for Conrad's death like she never loved him.One of the pretentious guards that Conrad came in with takes off her helmet and just like the first time I am baffled by how much the witch resembles our mate."Kill me instead! I am the witch that is controlling his mind," she says. She is that selfless? Or is it a trick to make us believe that she is the true Keira?"You stupid bitch! You will die today!" our mate screams like she has suddenly lost her mind. She picks up the sword tha
Keira's Pov"I must ask that you do not tell your brothers that I am not Keira. Unlike you they seem to care for that pathetic human and won't like me if they realise that I am not her," Arina tells Conrad as we follow her and her father inside the palace. "Of course I won't tell them if you don't want me to," Conrad assures. "The guards behind used to be close friends of mine. Allow them to come with us," he requests and Arina simply nods. Guess she is so eager to have him as well that she is not allowing her mind to have suspicion. My other two husbands rise from the soft couches of the palace parlour as soon as we walk in through the door. They both step forward to hug Conrad."Welcome back, brother. Where did you get lost to?" Garren asks in a voice filled with concern. Arina makes her way to Fenris and wraps her hands around his waist. He embraces her back, rubbing her back gently and kissing her on the lips. She smiles in comfort."You first tell me what happened the day I l
Keira's Pov"Your plan worked, your majesty. Arina and her father believed that King Conrad turned against you and wishes to have a mate bond with her," Allen gladly informs. We smile in relief as we are now halfway into getting rid of the vixen and her foolish father. As long as the mate bond between her and my other two husbands is broken getting them to recognise who the real Keira is won't be as hard as the first time. According to the text I read about the identity spell, Arina must carry my blood everywhere she goes or my mates will discover that she is not me. Her father was left with only a few drops after suspending my mate bond with the angel kings before I returned to Lunacrest. Arina will only have a little of that blood as her father must have used some to lift my mate bond with my husbands again. Finding the tiny amount of the blood she is carrying will be hard but not impossible. "Did she mix the blood?" Conrad asks. "She asked that you return to the palace, your ma
Keira's PovAngel Conrad's hand and pen hovers over the tiny parchment."What do you think I should write?" he asks, looking furious that he has to do this. Of course penning a love letter to our enemy is not just hard but disgusting as well. But it seems to me like it's the only way we can get her to mix her blood with Luther's. Once the fake mate bond between her and my other husbands is broken then we won't have to fight them to get to her or her father."We must make her believe that your thoughts and feelings are genuine. You must confess a good reason why you're choosing to betray me. Tell her that I am a weak human that never deserved to be the queen of your great kingdom," I suggest."That's not true. You're the smartest and strongest woman our kingdom has ever seen. Not even our mother was as fierce as you're," my husband differs. "The point is to make her believe without doubt that you hate me. The truth doesn't matter," I answer. "Still it disgusts me to write such lies
Keira's PovI read the text titled, "The Identity Spell," frowning at it's weird content. "To steal a person's identity one needs the blood of their victim as well as an object belonging to those that they wish to fool. The enchantment must be done by a powerful sorcerer," I read out loud so that Angel Conrad and the alpha can hear. The rest of the text include strange words that should be uttered during the casting of the spell. How did they get items belonging to my mates to cast the spell? "The Shaman already had my blood, but not anything belonging to you," I tell Conrad. "Maybe we should search the place some more. You never know," Luther says. He summons five more loyal servants to help us. Good thing everyone is eager to please an angel king .The servants excitedly search the house for several hours, bringing anything suspicious to King Conrad. "I found these in Aria's closet, your majesty," one of the servants proudly reports while holding out three scarfs made of sea si
