****SHUN WAS humming happily while walking down the street. His lips were stretched into a big smile, both hands were inside his pockets. He was very happy he was able to pay his sister’s bills today. His sister will be operated on soon.
Yesterday, Lincoln transferred the money he promised Shun. Because of that money, he was able to pay Shaine’s bills and his apartment rent. What a good day. Although today is also the day he will meet Lincoln’s parents, he wasn’t nervous. It’s a really good day for him to be nervous.
Not until he passed on a alleyway, and heard voices of some men.
“Is that him? He doesn’t look like that one.”
“That’s him I sure! Haven’t I told you he’s always changing his appearance?”
Shun turned to look at where the voice is coming from, and his eyes immediately widened in horror.
There was a clusters of men on the alleyway, looking so ‘gangster-ish’ as some of them leaned on the wall of a building, a few were crouching on the ground. Most of them had tattoos on their arms, wore some grudge and rugged looking clothes, and held cigarettes in their hands. The sight was so familiar—even those men were familiar. Shun can’t be mistaken.
**It was Joe’s gangmates!
His heart pounded against his chest. Last time, they were able to almost kidnap him, but he managed to escape. Are they going to continue their bad deeds today?!
Not can happen! Shun immediately turned his back on the group of men and walked faster. He wasn’t wearing any disguises now, but the last time they met, he was wearing one. How come they recognized him?
“He’s fleeing!”
“Don’t let him get away! Chase him!”
“Fuck,” Shun cursed and started running.
He can’t afford to pay his debts to them today! He spent all of the money on Shaine’s bills!
“You damn kid, come back here! I will beat you up!” He heard someone saying, but Shun doesn't look back and kept running. He also can’t afford to be caught by these guys! Not today! They were at least 7 and also burly! He’ll die! He still has to meet up with Lincoln later to have dinner with his family!
SHUN SMILED at Lincoln when they met in their meeting place.
Yup, he got away from the gangsters earlier. Shun doesn’t know if he was just lucky, maybe he is. The gangsters got lost sight of him when he ran as fast as he can. He can sigh in relief. For now.
Shun pressed his lips tight. He was currently wearing a stunning casual dress, just right for dinner. His face was full on make-up, he made sure his face doesn’t had a bit of masculinity in it—which is highly impossible for him anyway because his face is androgynous.
The physical cover wasn’t bad, almost perfect—maybe it is—but Shun wasn’t sure if this dinner would go smoothly.
“Are you nervous?” Lincoln asked him while ushering him towards his car.
“A bit.”
“Don’t be. You’ll do well,” Lincoln assured him.
Shun just smiled, it barely relaxed him.
Lincoln drove for half an hour. While driving, he, as usual, fired his flirts away just to ease Shun’s tension. Shun was a bit thankful; it managed to make him less nervous. But that doesn't last long once they stood in front of a white elegant mansion. Shun gulped. He expected Lincoln’s wealthiness already, but he can’t help to be overwhelmed because of how rich he actually is.
“Let’s go.” Lincoln held his hand and they entered together.
Shun roamed his eyes to the interior of the mansion. He saw a lot of expensive furniture and paintings. They’re so extravagant. Shun knew those were worth hundreds of thousands—maybe even million.
“Lincoln, dear?” A woman’s voice was heard.
Lincoln pulled him gently towards where the voice is.
Shun blew a breath before they entered the dining room. He saw a middle-aged man and woman sitting in the dining. They were both gazing at him.
“Mom, Dad.” Lincoln greeted his parents. He went to his mom and kissed her cheek.
Mr. Vega looked at Shun. “Your girlfriend, Son, I believe?” His father’s voice has a hint of suspicion.
“Yes.” Lincoln smiled at him, urging him to introduce himself.
Shun was nervous to the core but he held a calm and charming expression outside. “Good evening, Sir, Ma’am. My name is Sheen.” He flashed a smile that can warm Antarctica.
Lincoln’s parents were stunned by Shun’s beauty. Lincoln’s father us the first to recover. “O-Oh, sit down, sit down.”
Lincoln’s mother spoke. “How beautiful you are Sheen, no wonder my son made you his girlfriend.”
Shun smiled awkwardly. “A-Ah, yes… thank you, Ma’am.” Dammit, how do girls usually do in this kind of situation?!
**“You can call me Tita Lynda. This is your Tito Collin.” Lincoln’s mother was smiling sweetly at him.
The next few moments, all of Lincoln’s parents attention was on Shun.
Lincoln’s lips tightened as he stared at the three. He was completely ignored because his parents were so overjoyed with ‘Sheen’!
“So, how did you meet, Sheen?”
“How did you fall in love with my son, Sheen?”
“Did Lincoln force you into loving him? You’re too beautiful to be Lincoln’s girlfriend!”
“How did he win your heart?”
Shun was bombarded with questions which he answered while playing the role of a ‘sweet, charming’ girlfriend of Lincoln. Lincoln didn’t have the chance to speak. Shun was really thankful for Lincoln that he had tell him everything his parents will ask about them, so Shun answered everything confidently.
Lincoln frowned. “Mom, Dad, easy with your questions. You’re scaring her.”
Shun was stunned at Lincoln while his parents turned to look at their son. “I see. Sorry, Lincoln, baby. We’re just…” his mother trailed and shrugged her shoulders.
“I’m just surprised.” His father suddenly spoke. “The last time I remember, you don’t swing this way.”
Lincoln froze.
Lincoln’s mother quickly elbowed her husband. She turned to Lincoln and smiled. “We’re happy, darling. We know you’re not really like that.”
Lincoln’s face darkened, and Shun was confused. What’s happening?
**“I know you’ll eventually find the right path, son. I’m proud of you.”
“I see...” Lincoln dropped his gaze at the empty plate in front of him. Shun sensed that something was wrong, so he quietly excused himself.
He went to the kitchen to give the three privacy. It seems like Lincoln doesn’t want him to hear what his parents are saying, so he volunteered to go. He doesn’t understand what they are talking about, but he thought that he was not in a position to ask Lincoln about it. They’re just pretending to be in a relationship anyway.
“Sheen?”
Shun was startled when Lincoln entered the kitchen. Lincoln followed him. “Eh? I thought you were talking about something…”
Lincoln didn’t answer and just smiled weakly. This smile was in mixed bitterness and sadness.
“Is something the matter?” Shun can’t help but ask.
“No, uh, nothing. They were just... happy, I guess.” Lincoln laughed.
Shun’s brows furrowed at how fake his laugh sounded, but didn’t say anything.
Silence filled the kitchen. Shun leaned on the kitchen countertop while Lincoln was in front of him, smiling. Shun looked away and gulped. His heart beat loudly because of the strange nervousness. Why?
He was about to say something when Lincoln stepped forward. He grabbed Shun’s waist and pulled him closer.
“I’m sorry for this.”
“What—”
Lincoln pressed their lips together.
Shun’s eyes widened.
He was so shocked he doesn’t notice the footsteps coming towards them. And Lincoln didn’t give him the chance to notice it.
He kissed Shun deeply.
THE TIME had stopped. Or so Shun thought. Shun’s body is very still when Lincoln’s cold lips are pressed against his. He almost forgot how to breathe. His pupils shook, his fingers trembled. He was taken aback. He doesn’t know what to do. Why? What? How? What the hell? What the fuck? Shun’s mind is a mess but one thing had never left his brain: Lincoln is kissing him. The
LINCOLN VEGA gazed outside through the glass window of his office. It wasn’t that bright that afternoon. He can see from above the high skyscrapers beside their own company building. Then his eyes went to the highest building he can see from afar. He can barely read the four-letter word on the top.Fengs.Lincoln blinked. He remembered that he once again bought clothes from that brand even though his family owns their own clothing brand. Well, that’s okay, I guess. It’ll be slightly suspicious if he brought Sheen to their own store and present her to his parents. Sheen.Lincoln didn’t notice that his lips curved slightly upon picturing the young woman in his mind. Ah, he missed her. It’s been a few days since they saw each other. When he’s trying to call her in the middle of the day, sometimes the woman wouldn’t answer or answer after a couple of rings. But if she answered, she always told him she was working and
“YOU’RE KIDDING me.”It was the first thing Shun said after Lincoln explained his conversation with his mom.“I wish I am,” Lincoln said, head lowered as if he can’t meet Shun’s eyes.Shun looked away, pursing his lips. He doesn't know what he’s currently feeling. Emotions were mixing inside him; annoyance, confusion, dismal. Marriage? That was clearly out of the question! He doesn’t want to get married—no, he can’t be married.Especially to Lincoln. To a man.For effing sake, he is a man too! They can’t be married. No. Pretending to be Lincoln’s girlfriend is one thing. Marrying him was another. And the worst part is, Lincoln doesn’t know he’s a man. He can’t just forge his documents to prove he is a woman. He isn’t, and he doesn’t have the ability to do so.A thought hit Shun.He looked at Lincoln, his eyes w
SHUN DIDN’T know when he had stood up and walked, but maybe he did, considering how he end up in front of a door. And it wasn’t his apartment’s door.Shun gulped and raised his hand to knock but stopped in midair. Is she still awake? It’s almost 12 AM by now. He shook his head and knocked.Moments later, the door opened.Shun expected a somewhat disheveled and had just gotten off the bed from a deep sleep look, but he was welcomed by a fully awake Sachiko.“Hey,” Shun greeted softly, slightly surprised. He sniffed lightly and a liquor smell filled his nostrils. His brows creased. “Have you been drinking?”Sachiko gave nothing away as she stared at Shun’s face. “Are you one of the girls I dumped before?”Shun cocked his head to the side because of confusion, but his lips parted when he realized what was happening. Chuckling, he said, “Silly. It’s me, Shun.&
LINCOLN’S OFFICE wasn’t that huge and not that small either. His desk sat near the wall, his swivel chair creaked as he leaned on it. On his left, there was a huge glass wall that showed the cityscape. There was a set of sofa on the right side, a small coffee table in the middle of them.Although it looks so simple and so manly, Shun can’t help be but awe. That’s why he’s standing in front of the glass wall for about quarter an hour now, staring and being amazed at the scenery.“Wow,” he muttered, for about ten times now.Lincoln, who’s looking at him from time to time and getting amused, chuckled. “You still not done being fascinated there?”“Because I’ve never seen something like this before.” Shun can see the traffic below, people walking that seemed like ants because of small they looked. He looked up at the buildings, and one of the highest building he had seen so far is th

MRS. VEGA’s mood seemed to have changed the moment Jade uttered her answer. It was such a pity I can’t stay long. I still have meetings to attend.” Yumena offered her a smile, aware of how the other became suddenly off earlier. It’s not that it’s her business, so she just let things through.“It’s okay, it’s okay.” Mrs. Vega smiled widely, silently wishing it wasn’t obvious that it’s a fake one. If Yumena noticed, she chose not to speak about it.The two got on the car with Evan as the driver. Mrs. Vega smiled at them and waved as the car maneuvered away from their building. THE ROOM was quiet. The only thing that can be heard is the soft, steady beeping sound of the ICU ventilator beside the bed, where a young woman laid. The sky outside the windows is bright and sunny, complementing the news that will soon be revealed. The door opened with a soft creak. A nurse came inside the room. Her gaze went to the woman peacefully sleeping on the bed and walked towards her.She had been a few years in her work, and what was she knew is the lady who’s lying on the bed had been in coma for about five years now. She remembered she has a brother and a friend who’s always visiting her. LINCOLN WOKE up with a start. The first thing he noticed when he opened his eyes was the white ceiling. Strange. As far as he can remember, his ceiling is painted sky blue.As if realizing what was happening, Lincoln scrambled to get up from the bed. He pushed the thick blanket off his body and a surge of panic came to him when he found that he was only wearing his boxer. Nothing more. An excruciating pain hit his head and he winced. Hangover. He roamed his eyes around the unknown room. “What the hell happened?” He can’t remember shit. All white, some furniture is black. It looks normal nonetheless. From the looks of it, the person who owns this room is well-off. But who is itA door from the side softly creaked open, revealing the person Lincoln had been just wondering about a while ago.A man in his twenties, probably around his age, walked inside with a tray of water and a bottle of pills. Harue met Lincoln’s eyes, and his brows slightly raised. “Oh, you’re awake?”Lincoln answere
HE ISN’T sober, that’s a fact. But that wasn’t an excuse to just kiss someone! As if burnt, Shun pulled away as quickly as a heartbeat. “Shit, sorry—I’m really sorry, Lincoln—I wasn’t—shit.” Wasn’t what? Wasn’t going to kiss you? You just did idiot! He looked away from Lincoln because of embarrassment and frustration with himself. Will the floor just swallow him right now?“Sheen.” Lincoln’s voice was soft but he managed to hear it. However, he refused to look at him. No, he can’t. Not right now. What was he thinking kissing him while he was asleep? Or so Shun thought.“Sheen.”What if Lincoln thought of him as someone who would take advantage of anyone? Why did he even do that? What if Lincoln—A hand grasped his shoulder and turned him to face the man seated beside him. A pair of dark brown eyes met his brown ones. Lincoln’s serious gaze made him gulp. What now? Before he could say something, Lincoln pulled him.It was so sudden he didn’t even realize it until he felt Lincoln’s lips
SHUN COULDN’T wait for the day to end.His back hurts like hell, his shoulders slumped, and his feet are close to numb as he wiped the dirty table with a round rug. It’s almost 11 PM, and the last customer had just gotten out a few minutes ago. Now, he just had to wipe all the tables clean and lock up the resto before he can go home.Usually, the resto owner wouldn’t allow him to be the one who will take care of the shop, at least not alone, for he was only a temporary waitress until the original came back from her vacation. Yes, waitress. It is because he is appeared to be Sheen right now. Long story short, Sachi recommended him to the resto owner to be a substitute, but the owner doesn’t want a male waiter. She seemed to hate every living man in the world—as of the moment—as Sachi told him she had just her heart broken by a man. But rest assured that that ‘hate’ wouldn’t last long, because she can’t just reject her male employees in her small resto, especially her male customers. He
“I’M SORRY.”Lincoln stopped from measuring a fabric on the mannequin. They were inside a room, a studio specifically. It was an average size rectangular room with white walls. The sun shone through the windowsill, adding to the brightness of the room that contained several mannequins, and tables; and on the tables, there were fabrics, a sewing machine, rulers, pencils, tape measures, and other designing materials. There were cloth racks on the side of the wall that hang several dresses, all with different colors and designs. On the wall, there’s a bullet board standing, and pinned on it were over dozens of sketches of dresses and gowns. Lincoln’s mom made them borrow it, to let them work on the dress the CEO of Fengs had picked. Mrs. Laine Vega had thought it was Shun who drew it, but in fact, it was her own son. The moment they stepped inside this studio, Shun was standing dumbly on the side while Lincoln is starting work, because, among the two of them, Lincoln was the one more fa
