Chapter: 2
****** Kaidën had raised an eyebrow, a sly smile spreading across his face. He had just finished his usual night hunt and was on his merry way home when his gaze landed on the young officer. For years he has watched him, followed him, Kaidën has planned the man's life from the very day he met him, and made sure that each step Asher took, he would be there a few steps behind, watching him closely. But, tonight was a temptation that Kaidën couldn't resist, and for one who had endured for the past years, Kaidën knew he must take his chances now that he had it and with that, he parked his car and got out. At first he leaned against his car and watched Asher's colleagues who surrounded him, although Kaidën hated the sight of anyone been that close to him, but he knew he had to hold his cool. He couldn't afford to draw attention to himself and make a bad first impression on the young officer and so he waited until they had entered the bar. Kaidën followed a few minutes later. He stalked around the bar, from the other end and just watched Asher, the cute little dances he attempted with his friends, the sound of his laughter that carried on even amidst the loud music. Kaidën felt a shiver run down his spine whenever he heard him laugh, no music could match the sound of his laughter. A man came around to stand behind Asher and soon he began to dance to with him, provoked, Kaidën rose and motioned to the bartender. “Get Khaled over there.” He instructed and the bartender nodded. Kaidën relaxed once again on his stool and waited for the bouncer to approach the man who danced with Asher, and as soon as the bouncer escorted the interloper out. Asher frowned not liking the fact that his dance partner has just been removed, but he moved over to the bar to grab himself another drink. After watching Asher for another few minutes, Kaidën stepped out of the bar and into the dark alley where the bouncer stood with the man who had dared to dance with Asher. As Kaidën approached them, the bouncer turned and left to return to his duty, leaving the man to face Kaidën’s wrath alone. Kaidën without waiting, held the man around his throat, the man trembled, his eyes wide with terror, as Kaidën's hand closed around his throat like a vice. Kaidën's grip tightened, lifting him off the ground, his feet dangling in mid-air. The man's face turned a deep shade of crimson, his eyes bulging as he struggled to breathe. Kaidën's voice was a low, menacing growl, sending shivers down the man's spine. "I'm in a... cheerful mood tonight, so I'll let you off with a warning." The man's eyes rolled back, his body shaking like a leaf caught in the wind. "If you value your pathetic life, you see that officer, the one you dared to dance with, stay clear. And since my... appetite is still sated, I'll let you leave my bar unscathed.” With a sudden release, the man landed on the ground, coughing and sobbing uncontrollably. Kaidën's eyes gleamed with a vicious intensity as he smoothed his clothes and hair, his movements eerily calm. "Now, run!" he muttered, and the man scrambled to his feet, fleeing into the night like a terrified animal. When Kaidën re-entered the bar, Asher spotted him, and their eyes locked. Smirking, Kaidën stalked over to the bar, his gaze locked on Asher all the way. ***** They collided at the bar, their bodies brushing together as they reached for their drinks. The spark between them was undeniable, and Asher had felt himself getting lost in Kaidën's eyes. "Mind if I join you?" Kaidën had asked, his voice low and husky. Asher had shaken his head, his heart racing. Maybe it was the alcohol speaking but Asher had leaned into the man's face when he replied. "Not at all." Kaidën loved that, and he laughed softly before they soon fell into a comforting chatter. They had talked for what seemed like hours, laughing and joking together like they'd known each other for years. Maybe for Asher, it was the first time, but for Kaidën, he has known the man for years. Asher had felt a connection with Kaidën that he couldn't explain, a sense of belonging that he'd never experienced before. As the night wore on, they had found themselves getting closer and closer, their bodies touching, their faces inches apart. And then, without warning, Kaidën leaned in and kissed him. Asher had felt like he'd been punched in the gut, his breath knocked out of him. But he'd kissed back, his lips crashing against Kaidën's in a fierce, passionate kiss. They had stumbled out of the bar, laughing and staggering together. Asher had barely remembered the cab ride to Kaidën's place, but he'd remembered every detail of what had happened next. They had stumbled into the apartment as if they chased life, and had torn each other's clothes off, their bodies entwined in a fierce, all-consuming kiss. Asher had felt like he was drowning, like he was losing himself in Kaidën's eyes. The sex had been intense, passionate. Asher had felt like he'd never been alive before, like every nerve ending in his body was on fire. When Kaidën's hands grasped Asher's waist, pulling him close as their lips crashed together. The room around them melted away, leaving only the thrum of desire and the rush of skin against skin. Asher's fingers in turn had tangled in Kaidën's hair, deepening the kiss as their bodies swayed together. The air was thick with tension, and heavy with the scent of arousal. Clothes scattered across the floor, shed in a frantic bid to get closer. Asher's heart pounded in his chest, his pulse racing like a wild animal. Every nerve ending in his body seemed to vibrate with anticipation. Kaidën's eyes locked onto his, burning with an inner fire that drew Asher in. He felt himself drowning in those eyes, losing himself in the depths of Kaidën's gaze. When Asher got on top of Kaidën, the man had smiled warmly at him, and very sweetly muttered, “Go ahead,” It was like a command he didn't know he needed, and Asher fell smoothly between the man's parted thighs, their gaze locked even as he pushed his cock into the tightness of Kaidën's body, he saw the man hiss, his body clenching down on his cock so painfully Asher thought he would snap his dick in two. “You're going to break my dick.” Asher had muttered to the man, breathless as he fought to keep his cool. Kaidën groaned and grabbed onto Asher's shoulders, his nails digging into the large of back, drawing blood. “You're fucking huge… you're the one about to break me in half with that monster you're shoving inside of me… Ahhh!” Kaidën cried when Asher pushed all the way in. “You idiot!” He cried, and Asher spotted a stray tear escape the man's face, he leaned forward and pressed their lips together. The kiss was a welcome distraction from the pain and Asher gave Kaidën time to adjust to his length and he wouldn't move until Kaidën muttered. “You can move now.” And he did. Their bodies moved together, a symphony of flesh and bone. Asher's senses were overwhelmed, his mind reeling with the sheer intensity of the experience. The sound of skin slapping against skin, the wetness in their kisses and the scent of arousal filled the room. A force that drove them overboard and they rode the pleasure with all that they've got. Time lost all meaning as they moved together, their bodies speaking a language that needed no words. Asher felt alive, truly alive, for the first time in his life. ***** As he remembered the details of their encounter, Asher's face flushed, and his heart began to race. He'd never felt that way about anyone before, and he didn't know how to process it. And fuck, no wonder he didn't get any pain, it wasn't him who had taking it up the ass. “Shit!” He groaned and rubbed his eyes. “How the fuck was he so calm?” He whispered, thinking out loud. “And to think he even went into the kitchen to make me breakfast.” He muttered again, almost starting to feel guilty for the way he had left. The cab screeched to a halt, jolting Asher back to reality. He paid the driver and stepped out onto the sidewalk, feeling a sense of fear wash over him. Taking a deep breath, Asher turned toward the station and headed inside, determined to put the events of the previous night behind him. He was certain he wouldn't be running into that man ever again. ***** Back at the apartment Kaidën walked over to the bedside drawer and pulled it open to find the wallet he had hidden away in there, as he took the wallet and sat down on the bed, he groaned, a sharp pain shot up his nerves. “Fucking monster cock,” he grumbled as he opened the wallet and pulled out the picture in it. He flicked the picture between his fingers before pushing it back into the wallet. His phone began to ring and he leaned forward to grab it. “Yeah?” He called, his eyes glued to the wallet still in his hand. (’I dropped him, sir,’) a voice said from the other end of the line. "Good, thank you, Jord." He ended the call, tossing his phone back onto the bed. With a sly smile spreading across his face, Kaidën fell back onto the bed, the wallet still clutched tightly in his hand. "I'll be seeing you very soon, my Heart," he whispered, his eyes glistening with a startling intensity.Chapter: 38*****“You've lost him, and this time, there is no coming back from this one,” the mirror taunted, and Kaidën groaned, his fingers bleeding as he pressed against the cracked surface.“He hates you, just like Mom and Dad did,” the voice of his younger self slithered through, urging Kaidën to push against the mirror. Why does he end up replacing these mirrors each time? He kept leaning into this torment like it was his salvation? Did he enjoy this torture? The way they taunted and haunted him? Was this his own version of hell?“There is nothing left for you, Kaidën. You should walk away… he will never remember who you are, nor will he ever return the feelings your damned soul holds for him,” they continued.Asher couldn't bear it anymore. The scent of blood had grown stronger, both from the bruises he had inflicted on Kaidën and those he was now inflicting on himself. His head began to ache once more, painfully replaying Emily’s cries as they dragged her away, the way she ha
Chapter: 37 ****** “Welcome back, my heart,” Kaidën smiled when he recognized the familiar eyes staring back at him. The hatred and disgust were evident; clearly, he wasn't the one Asher wanted to see, not by a long shot. “You've been gone a while,” he attempted to say, pushing himself off the wall and striding smoothly toward Asher, who remained silent and unmoving. Once he was close enough, Kaidën placed a hand on Asher’s cheek and gently caressed his face. Asher's tense muscles relaxed slightly, but then he recoiled from Kaidën’s touch as if fire had erupted from where his fingers grazed. “What am I doing here with you?” Asher demanded, a sudden bitterness in his voice. Kaidën observed him, noting how he clenched and unclenched his fists, as if debating whether to beat Kaidën into the ground or push his way out of wherever they were. “I brought you somewhere safe. You were back there in the old shed; I had to bring you home,” Kaidën finally replied, a rip starting to tear with
Chapter: 36 ***** Years later, Kaidën saw him again. This time, he was homeless, sleeping on the streets. His father hadn’t been locked up in jail for long for the murder of his wife; because her body was never found, and whatever had happened didn’t matter much to Kaidën. As soon as he left the camp, he sought Asher out once more, this time as a man on a mission: to find Asher, to keep him, to protect him. Kaidën would do anything for him. Kaidën secured a flyer and laid it out where Asher would stumble upon it the next morning, and he did. Kaidën looked after him, kept him safe, and even went so far as to keep an eye on his sister. During a brief visit to Father, while taking a break from the hellish camp, Nine took him to an auction. There, he spotted the small, frightened girl. The birthmark on her neck was unforgettable, identical to the one on his Heart's. Elis noticed him shift in his chair and tried to stop him, but Kaidën wouldn’t give up. He rose from his seat, leap
Chapter: 35 ******* That night, the clouds gathered as if to mourn with the boy who had just lost his sister, the one reason he had endured this torturous world at the hands of cruel people. Night after night, he sat with sagging shoulders hunched over the little picket fence, tears streaming down his face, blending seamlessly with the rain droplets as he cried with the clouds. It ached Kaidën’s heart to watch him suffer in this way. If he must cry, then it should be him who made Asher cry—not them, and certainly not over Emily. Kaidën knew that Asher loved his sister; after all, she was his family, the only one who didn’t hate him, who didn’t beat him, the one who didn’t starve him. From the very first day Kaidën had set his eyes on Asher, hugging his sister tightly in that little shed, he knew his life had altered forever. Asher had invaded his heart without even knowing it, pushing away all the ache, all the pain, the years of fear and torment, and then Asher had gone and settle
Chapter: 34*****The salty air of the harbor felt heavy against Kaidën's skin as he approached his private boat, the sleek vessel glinting under the waning sun. Waves lapped gently at the hull, but the atmosphere felt charged, with something sickening. Ross, his bodyguard, the one idiot who was meant to look after Nox, instead dared to call to inform him that he had knocked his Heart out cold. Ross paced back and forth on the deck, his brow furrowed, eyes darting nervously as if expecting an unseen predator to pounce.Kaidën's face was a mask of calm, betraying nothing of the storm brewing within. He climbed aboard, his boots thudding softly against the polished wood. The boat smelled of leather and the faint, salty tang of the ocean. But something foul lingered beneath, a reminder of chaos that had unfolded just hours before. There was a clear sign of struggle. Knowing Nox, he must have put up the fight of a lifetime, still, Ross had no reason to lay hands on Nox.As he stepped furt
Chapter: 33 ***** Tonight would be no quiet night, he knew, but the voices refused to silence. They taunted him, pushing him to the edge, driving him to madness. "Stop fighting it!" they sneered. He winced, their venomous words seeping into his veins like a snake's bite, poisoning his last shred of control and unleashing chaos. Kaidën groaned, turning toward the shattered mirror, its broken pieces mocking him on the dirty floor. "You can't even keep him safe!" they jeered. He groaned again, turning away. "Lies!" he retorted, his hand clenched around a knife, the blade digging into his palm. Blood spilled, droplets rolling off the self-inflicted cut, slowly falling into the dirt. "I will keep him safe!" he seethed, his breathing ragged, eyes darkening. "He's mine to protect; I won't let any harm come to him!" The voices erupted into laughter, their mocking tones piercing his ears like a bluster of jingling bells. "If that were true," they echoed, "why do you keep letting F
