The interrogations went on for about four hours as one by one, the crew was taken into the rooms, and they were asked a series of questions. The answers were all the same, and they had to wonder if they were being coached to say such things or they were really left in the dark and didn't realize that they were an accessory to trying to commit murder. Kelly looked at all of them, and though she didn't really know if she could be an expert on reading people, she had to believe it was the second option. These people didn't honestly know, for the most part, if what was going to happen. They have been used just as much as everybody else in the entire process period, from the insurance companies to anyone who had supplied information on Kelly's life to the people that were supposed to be the closest to her. They all knew when to strike. However, these people were completely caught off guard by the whole situation. They were just trying to survive, and knowing

When Josh was brought up, he just stared at her with his wide blue eyes. This was the moment that she had been waiting for. She could care less about what her ex had to say, but this was what she had been looking forward to. Even though I wasn’t looking forward to anything. She wanted to know why Josh was involved in any of this. “I can't believe that you're alive,” he stated as he looked at her with complete disbelief. The shock was there written on his face. He had thought the plan had worked. “How do you know I’m alive? I could be just a ghost standing there ready to make you look like a complete ass,” she responded as she looked at him. Her head was beginning to hurt just by looking at him, knowing that he had betrayed her so badly and tried to end her life by pushing her over the boat. She had remembered that he was the one who took her shoulders and gave her a shove over the side. “I don’t care why you did it, but I want to know why? Why did you

After the lunch, the two got back on the helicopter, and he took her hand in his giving it a gentle squeeze as they took off. And also, throughout the entire time, he was playing with her fingers. There was something cathartic about the whole action for both of them. They were headed to the police station that was holding her family, including her siblings and her parents. There were also various cousins and also aunts and uncles. This was going to be an absolutely huge case because it was the largest conspiracy that most people in the area would ever hear of. Because of his involvement as well, he knew that it would soon make national news. He knew this was taking a toll on her, and he didn't want it to drag her under the water. He was going to try and figure out something that would be more distracting for her, but he also knew that he had let her deal with this on her own. All he could do was stand by her and make sure that she was taken care of when she fi

After about four more people being brought up, it was finally her parent's turn. Both of them were going to try and come upstairs at the exact same time and talk to different DAs now that the other one had arrived. Kelly waited in the same spot that she had basically been in one everybody had been brought up. Each person had looked at her like they were seeing something out of a horror film. Nobody knew that she was alive except for her parents and when she saw her father for the first time since the accident she had to fight with herself not to run to him. He had been a part of this right from the start, and even though he had been probably one of the people in her life that she had depended on the most, knowing the fact that he was a part of this tore her to pieces. When he was placed in the interrogation room, he didn't even acknowledge that she was there. That was a slap in the face to her. She felt it physically. The opposite reaction happe

A few hours later, Kelly was lying in bed, completely dead to the world. She had taken some medicine to be able to fall asleep, and she was finally able to relax a little bit once they got back to the compound. That's where she felt the most safe. Before she fell asleep, she looked at Benton, and he knew that the medicine was starting to kick in because her eyes were starting to dilate, and they were getting heavy as well, “I don't want to go to the trial. I don’t want to have anything to do with this anymore.” “Whatever you want to do is perfectly fine with me. If you want to go then, we'll go together. If you don't want to go, then you and I will find something to do.” Benton said as he rubbed her hair as he sat on the bed, looking down at her. He was going to talk to the people in the lab for a little while and let her have some quiet. When he got back to the apartments, though, he didn't spot her on the bed. Once again, she was hiding behin

Days went by while they waited to hear about everything that was going on at the police station. Kelly picked up the computer and started writing. She just started writing whatever she felt, and then she started at the beginning of her story. In the meantime, Benton had spent more time in the lab giving her space, knowing that she needed it right now. In his mind, the same if you love it, let it go kept coming to mind. He wasn't letting her go, but he was letting her figure everything out in her own mind without interjecting his own personal opinions into everything. That's when she was sleeping. She had a moment where she kept talking about the different shapes of a core cell. She had been talking about it so badly that it woke him up. When he listened to her, he knew something was still bothering her in her mind, but she couldn’t place it. The nightmares and bad dreams and played a huge factor in everything that she was doing now. Benton opened the doors, and the techs were still in shocked that they had managed to get the quantum diffuser to work correctly and to hold any momentum in keeping the machine going. Everybody was still in awe as they continued to look at the machine. He looked down at her and smiled. “We need to do another test run so she can see,” Benton said as he looked at the techs, who all nodded, and then they went to their designated safety areas to go ahead and start the process of turning down the machine. Because of the way that they were working with the quantum mechanics and the quantum energy in the area, they did have quite a few safety protocols put into place just in case something went wrong. He gave her a pair of safety goggles and moved her across the way to the furthest place from the machine under safety glass and everything else that he could possibly think of to make sure that she was OK, but she needed to see this. The countdown to starting th

After he discussed everything with the techs and they were going to clean up the prototype of the new piece that the machine worked at all, they were going to finish up for the day knowing they had a lot to celebrate. Benton decided that he was going to bring her somewhere special as well. There was one room that she had never gone to. At least, he didn't think that she had never gone to. He had never taken her there. He stopped her as soon as they got back to the apartment to stand in front of the door while he walked inside for a moment and then came back out with nothing in his hands which surprised her. She had no idea what he was planning, but she was feeding off of his excitement as well. “There's a place I want to take you,” he said as he began to lead her through the maze of hallways throughout the mountain. There was one room that he had built because of a fascination that he had with the stars. It was a childhood thing that he never outgrew.

He brought the trolley food in and began to put things on to the table for them to take what they wanted for dinner. He ordered everything special for the day, but he was trying to make sure that it still fitted for the evening. That was when she noticed the bottle of champagne that was in the ice off to the side of the table. She sent him a glance that spoke enough to ask her question. “Not only is tonight extremely special that we managed to get the quantum diffuser to work. It's still a long road ahead of us that we can specialize it and make it work in different ways now that it turns on and holds its charge. The fact that it didn't shut down within a matter of seconds is a huge accomplishment on our end, and we couldn't have done it without you. So tonight is a celebration for that. but tonight is also special for us.” Benton said as he looked at her and then sat down across the way as he popped the bottle of champagne and then poured a glass. “Ho

It had been three months since they got married, and now it was time for Benton's birthday. He was turning 34, and he knew at that time that a few months ago, he would have never really put any stock into how old he was. Now he realized that he was ten years older than his wife. He also had one year to fulfill the clause that his father had left in the will. That didn't seem to be too much of a hardship for him, and he enjoyed trying to make sure that they fulfilled it. Kelly had made sure that everything was simple on his birthday for him. He didn't want to have a huge celebration. He just wanted to spend it with her. After all the work that they had done with the quantum diffuser and the different aspects of its building for different applications, this was going to be a relaxing weekend that she had planned for the two of them. They weren't even leaving the compound. They were just going to be spending it mostly in their private apartments. T

The day after the wedding, Benton had scheduled a news conference to discuss the quantum diffuser. He had also scheduled a little bit of a personal update. They were going to announce the wedding and the fact that they were happily married now. He was more excited about everything than he had been in his entire life. The more that they got settled into the compound together, the happier he was with everything that was going on. The news had broken with her name, considering how many people had been charged in the crime and how many other people needed to come forward to receive the money that they had donated. Benton had set up a fund that would pay everybody back because there was no telling where the money had gone since nobody had any in any of their accounts. He didn't want people to have to pay for being nice. All they had to do was prove that they had given money to that particular campaign on go fund me and they would receive the money-back no questions

“You may now kiss the bride.” was the only thing that Benton heard the entire time he was looking at Kelly. He knew that he had said his vows and that she had replied with her own. But that was the only thing that he could focus on. As soon as the officiant had said that, he bent down, and he gave her a very slow but not majorly graphic kiss. Cameras went wild, in everybody cheered for the two of them. “Welcome to the family chipmunk.” Penny sighed as she looked at Kelly for the first time, knowing that they had not been introduced before, but the small woman had been a part of every decision that her brother had made for her. “Chipmunk?” Kelly asked as she looked at a Penny. “It's just a cute family name that I don't even think Benton realizes why I call you that. It isn't the fact that you appeared out of the wilderness. I don't need to know the story. I have a feeling I already do, and if you need anyone to help you navigate t

That's when a new voice came from behind them. Benton hadn't even seen his older sister walk up through the arch of trees. “Mother, do be a dear and just sit down. Benton is finally happy, and he deserves this chance. He made his choice. And it's time for the family to support him instead of trying to get him to do what we want. His little chipmunk is the one that makes him this way. If he says that he's going to fulfill the clause, it doesn't really matter what happens to the rest of us. We should all be grateful that he was even willing to put himself on the line like that. However, this is his day. This is not the day for you to throw a holy fit in front of a bunch of strangers.” Penny stated very eloquently as she began to look around the area. She was slightly impressed with what everything had looked like. It wasn't like she had been to the area before, but she could see what had been done. “This is fitting for you, Benton. That you marry your little chipmunk an

The day was perfectly clear. There was not a cloud in sight, and there was nothing but blue skies and the warm rays of the sun beating down as they went to the area that she had chosen. There was an area that she could get dressed because she was adamant, he was not going to see her before the ceremony in the dress. The way that she looked at it was that she had already had it an extraordinarily large amount of bad luck that had turned to good luck. She didn't want to take any chances of anything else happening that could possibly ruin the day. When they got to the area, they split up, and Benton was already in his suit. He looked over the area and saw that everything was absolutely gorgeous. She had done so well with the help that he had provided her with the team that was able to do what she wanted to make this the perfect day for them. This was the day he never expected to come. He never expected that he would be the one getting married. Instead, he would b

The meeting with her father went basically the same way, even though the man seemed to show a little bit more remorse for the actions that he did. After the meeting, the detectives looked her over and saw that she had completely changed during the meetings. The woman that was composed that was in front of him right now was not the same woman who was in the interrogation room. It had all been an act on her part that she was so secure and happy in her life. She had made it a little more exaggerated to prove a point to her family. It was a good point to make. They understood why and so did the man that was standing next to her. She was happy, and that was easy to see. What had gone on in the interrogation rooms was her making sure that her family was going to know that she was well taken care of while they were the ones that tried to end her life. Benton took her back to the apartment and knew that she was probably going to have some kind of break. Though every t

They arrived at the police station holding hands, and the detectives saw the ring on her finger and gave them both congratulations. It didn't seem like anyone understood why she wanted to be there, and she wanted to confront both of her parents, but she wanted to do it separately was the fact that she wanted to make sure that they knew by trying to kill her, she had given her the opportunity to find everything that she had ever wanted in her life. That was Benton. He was the thing that she needed the most in her life, and she knew now that as well. It had nothing to do with the amount of money that he owned or the company or who he was. It was the last part partly. He was absolutely everything that she could have ever wanted for a partner in her life. He supported her in ways that nobody ever had before. “Your mother was extremely surprised that you requested to talk to her.” the detective said as he looked at Kelly. He was trying not to show his shock about t

Kelly looked at Denton two days before the day that they were going to get married, and he knew she had something to say. Though she wasn't exactly sure how to say it. It was written all over her face that there was something that she wanted to discuss, but she didn't exactly know-how. He started to get a little frightened because of everything that was going on because of the wedding that maybe she wasn't ready for. Maybe she was going to cancel it. Every bad thing that could possibly happen was going through his mind at the moment. There was really too much tension going on in the room, and he didn't know how to handle it. “Is there something that you want to discuss?” he finally came out and asked and looked at her knowing that she could come out of the left-field with something. And it would throw him completely out of his game. There were so many things that she could just end between them in there, and every bit of happiness that he had fo

Kelly soon found out that planning a wedding in a week was not exactly easy. Though she had a spot picked out in her mind making sure that it was open and that it was available was going to be difficult even though she knew that she could probably use the name and get the space if she needed to. She didn't want to be one of those types of people, and it wasn't in her, so when she found out that the area that she had wanted was already booked, she wasn't all that surprised. It was a beautiful place to have a wedding. Instead, she had put a little bit of money down that he had given her for the other couple to be able to have a few more things. She continued to look for a place, and then she found another one that was absolutely gorgeous, and it was outside. Everything was perfect for the vision that she had in her mind. And it was open. She immediately booked it and then let him know that they had the space available and where it was. He had already hired a com
