The Kelly was one of the people that was easiest to get along with in the entire base some days were worse than others when it came to her having a headache or if she had not slept the night before. Benton had learned to be able to gauge her moods just by the way that she looked and when he walked into his own apartment, he was surprised to find her there about ready to scream at the curtains. During the day she like to open them to let the sunlight in. That was one of the ways that he could tell if she was having a bad day or not because if they were open, she didn't really have a headache but if they were closed and it was still early enough that the light was out and then she was getting the beginning of a migraine. Over the past few weeks and she'd been released from the medical Bay her headaches had been getting better but at the same time she did still suffer from the migraines from time to time when things got to be a little overwhelming. When they
The two of them sat there looking at each other for what seemed to be a lifetime. He knew that she still had to adjust to what he was saying and honestly at the moment he didn't know if even though it was gonna get through to her. Benton knew that he had to do something. He had to make something easier for her and he was trying to quickly figure out what that could be. He was supposed to be a huge inventor and one of the most influential people of their lifetime but yet he was scared that he was going to make the wrong decision when it came to her, and it would push her away. This is when he realized that he had no idea how to handle women in general. He had given her something to distract her and in the possibility of that being the thing that set her off he wasn't exactly sure what to say. She had begun to pour herself into the research of finding people to donate money to. However, he also saw that there was a huge downside to that and that was that people di
The next morning when he woke up, Benton knew that something was very wrong. Though there was nothing that was going on in the building, he just had the feeling that something was going to happen that day, and it was not going to be pretty. He had no idea where it was going to come from or anything like that. He looked over to Kelly, who was lying next to him on the bed, and decided that for the first time, he wasn't gonna go down to the core early and sit there and stare at it for a few hours trying to figure out how it was going to work eventually when he could figure out the new problems that had arose. This morning he was going to stay in bed for as long as he possibly could with her right next to him. The night before, the two had the rest of the night to get everything out in the open between them. Benton listened to every one of her ideas and everything that she had figured out the past few days on her own. She had come to quite a few new
Everybody in the office is cleared away for them to be in watching the monitors. That's when he saw his sister and realized that she had quite a few problems. The first thing was she must have stumbled on a Hornet's nest because she was swatting at the air and looked like she was fighting with something they couldn't exactly see. Either that or she was on some kind of drugs which he didn't really think was a possibility because his sister had always been one of the ones who was always lecturing people on everything. Next to her, she had an entire bag of things that they could see, and there were a few things that were spilling out, and he was beginning to wonder if he was trying too hard to make sense of what was right in front of him. That's when he realized that his sister was trying to set him up for some kind of tabloid scheme or something that she would take pictures of and then send in. To him, that seemed the most logical explanation of what his sister was doin
A few hours later dressed in I'll pull over shirt and some khaki pants he seemed a lot more relaxed security guards reme After Kelly woke up from her mid-morning nap that Benton had left her in. She was surprised to find him sitting at his desk off in the corner of the room. For some reason, that seemed to trigger a series of memories of being in school and doing her work pretty much in the same place in her own house. She had enjoyed going to school and learning about different things so much so that most people thought she was going to become a teacher. She loved learning. That was one thing that she could never get away from, and it always seemed to be there. If there was something that she could learn when she wanted to know about it. She had a slight smile on her face as she managed to get another cup of coffee from the little kitchenette. When she sat down at the table, and she looked at him, and he was busy dealing
A few hours later, dressed in a pullover shirt and some khaki pants, he seemed a lot more relaxed security guards remembered him being earlier in the morning. He had a grin on his face that nobody had ever seen before. Though no one was going to actively say anything to him about how he was acting. It was like a new person was in front of them. He nodded to the security guards as he walked in the door and then looked at his sister, who was sitting at the table, and she was still fuming. The look on her face was priceless when he walked in. She was almost pouting like she was five years old again. “Did you get stung by any of the bees?” Benton asked as he sat down at the head of the table and looked at his older sister, who was visibly angry. Now that he was in there and making a joke about it, she was even more furious that she had been there waiting for him for a few hours. She had no idea that he had actually just made the first contribution to the clause be
Benton smiled at her, and she knew that something was going to be coming out of his mouth soon enough that was going to end her memories from her childhood. He almost looked jealous of her memories and of some of the things that she had done. He knew that they had grown up completely different, and he had already accepted the fact that she was not like him at all. But the jealousy was still there because she had a real childhood where is he had been locked away in a compound pretty much. “I think I should tell you a few things about the way that I grew up so you can kind of understand where I'm coming from,” Benton said with a sigh as he almost unceremonially flopped in the chair at the kitchen table. “When I was born, it was after my father had been told that he wasn't going to have any children other than Penny. So, after all the tests were confirmed that I was his child, he found it necessary to pretty much keep me locked away. I was separate
A few days later, while Benton was in the laboratory, he received an emergency text from Kelly, which was slightly unnerving. He had set up Kelly's phone well, she was starting her recovery process in the apartments to have an SOS button that all she had to do was hit it, and he would come running. He knew that she didn't ever want to press that button, so when the alert came to his phone and was echoing throughout the entire base, he knew something was seriously wrong. Kelly wouldn't have accidentally pressed the button, or she would have, and she would have immediately sent something right afterward. He made his way back to the apartments very quickly, knowing that that's where she was as she was going over more files for possible donations. Sometimes she would use her phone to check personal profiles of people and also news stories to see if she could easily verify some of the details in some of the campaigns. However, the SOS button was something completely differ
It wasn't until Benton walked out into the hallway after he looked at Kelly and shook his head. “She's up to something. I need to go find her.” Benton walked out into the hallway and continued to look for where his sister had gone, and when he had come across a couple of guards, they had to look at him like he had lost his mind when he asked if they had seen her walk by. They all knew that Penny had been banned from the building, so they had not seen her. Benton turned back and walked the opposite way, and then he realized exactly where she was headed. He made his way to the conference room and then opened the door just to find Penny sitting there sobbing her eyes out. The woman who had never allowed anyone to see her emotions in the entire time he had grown up with her was sitting there, and her eyes were already red and spotty. Her face was reddened as well where the tears were streaking down her face. This wasn't a show. She really had hoped that no
It had been three months since they got married, and now it was time for Benton's birthday. He was turning 34, and he knew at that time that a few months ago, he would have never really put any stock into how old he was. Now he realized that he was ten years older than his wife. He also had one year to fulfill the clause that his father had left in the will. That didn't seem to be too much of a hardship for him, and he enjoyed trying to make sure that they fulfilled it. Kelly had made sure that everything was simple on his birthday for him. He didn't want to have a huge celebration. He just wanted to spend it with her. After all the work that they had done with the quantum diffuser and the different aspects of its building for different applications, this was going to be a relaxing weekend that she had planned for the two of them. They weren't even leaving the compound. They were just going to be spending it mostly in their private apartments. T
The day after the wedding, Benton had scheduled a news conference to discuss the quantum diffuser. He had also scheduled a little bit of a personal update. They were going to announce the wedding and the fact that they were happily married now. He was more excited about everything than he had been in his entire life. The more that they got settled into the compound together, the happier he was with everything that was going on. The news had broken with her name, considering how many people had been charged in the crime and how many other people needed to come forward to receive the money that they had donated. Benton had set up a fund that would pay everybody back because there was no telling where the money had gone since nobody had any in any of their accounts. He didn't want people to have to pay for being nice. All they had to do was prove that they had given money to that particular campaign on go fund me and they would receive the money-back no questions
“You may now kiss the bride.” was the only thing that Benton heard the entire time he was looking at Kelly. He knew that he had said his vows and that she had replied with her own. But that was the only thing that he could focus on. As soon as the officiant had said that, he bent down, and he gave her a very slow but not majorly graphic kiss. Cameras went wild, in everybody cheered for the two of them. “Welcome to the family chipmunk.” Penny sighed as she looked at Kelly for the first time, knowing that they had not been introduced before, but the small woman had been a part of every decision that her brother had made for her. “Chipmunk?” Kelly asked as she looked at a Penny. “It's just a cute family name that I don't even think Benton realizes why I call you that. It isn't the fact that you appeared out of the wilderness. I don't need to know the story. I have a feeling I already do, and if you need anyone to help you navigate t
That's when a new voice came from behind them. Benton hadn't even seen his older sister walk up through the arch of trees. “Mother, do be a dear and just sit down. Benton is finally happy, and he deserves this chance. He made his choice. And it's time for the family to support him instead of trying to get him to do what we want. His little chipmunk is the one that makes him this way. If he says that he's going to fulfill the clause, it doesn't really matter what happens to the rest of us. We should all be grateful that he was even willing to put himself on the line like that. However, this is his day. This is not the day for you to throw a holy fit in front of a bunch of strangers.” Penny stated very eloquently as she began to look around the area. She was slightly impressed with what everything had looked like. It wasn't like she had been to the area before, but she could see what had been done. “This is fitting for you, Benton. That you marry your little chipmunk an
The day was perfectly clear. There was not a cloud in sight, and there was nothing but blue skies and the warm rays of the sun beating down as they went to the area that she had chosen. There was an area that she could get dressed because she was adamant, he was not going to see her before the ceremony in the dress. The way that she looked at it was that she had already had it an extraordinarily large amount of bad luck that had turned to good luck. She didn't want to take any chances of anything else happening that could possibly ruin the day. When they got to the area, they split up, and Benton was already in his suit. He looked over the area and saw that everything was absolutely gorgeous. She had done so well with the help that he had provided her with the team that was able to do what she wanted to make this the perfect day for them. This was the day he never expected to come. He never expected that he would be the one getting married. Instead, he would b
The meeting with her father went basically the same way, even though the man seemed to show a little bit more remorse for the actions that he did. After the meeting, the detectives looked her over and saw that she had completely changed during the meetings. The woman that was composed that was in front of him right now was not the same woman who was in the interrogation room. It had all been an act on her part that she was so secure and happy in her life. She had made it a little more exaggerated to prove a point to her family. It was a good point to make. They understood why and so did the man that was standing next to her. She was happy, and that was easy to see. What had gone on in the interrogation rooms was her making sure that her family was going to know that she was well taken care of while they were the ones that tried to end her life. Benton took her back to the apartment and knew that she was probably going to have some kind of break. Though every t
They arrived at the police station holding hands, and the detectives saw the ring on her finger and gave them both congratulations. It didn't seem like anyone understood why she wanted to be there, and she wanted to confront both of her parents, but she wanted to do it separately was the fact that she wanted to make sure that they knew by trying to kill her, she had given her the opportunity to find everything that she had ever wanted in her life. That was Benton. He was the thing that she needed the most in her life, and she knew now that as well. It had nothing to do with the amount of money that he owned or the company or who he was. It was the last part partly. He was absolutely everything that she could have ever wanted for a partner in her life. He supported her in ways that nobody ever had before. “Your mother was extremely surprised that you requested to talk to her.” the detective said as he looked at Kelly. He was trying not to show his shock about t
Kelly looked at Denton two days before the day that they were going to get married, and he knew she had something to say. Though she wasn't exactly sure how to say it. It was written all over her face that there was something that she wanted to discuss, but she didn't exactly know-how. He started to get a little frightened because of everything that was going on because of the wedding that maybe she wasn't ready for. Maybe she was going to cancel it. Every bad thing that could possibly happen was going through his mind at the moment. There was really too much tension going on in the room, and he didn't know how to handle it. “Is there something that you want to discuss?” he finally came out and asked and looked at her knowing that she could come out of the left-field with something. And it would throw him completely out of his game. There were so many things that she could just end between them in there, and every bit of happiness that he had fo
Kelly soon found out that planning a wedding in a week was not exactly easy. Though she had a spot picked out in her mind making sure that it was open and that it was available was going to be difficult even though she knew that she could probably use the name and get the space if she needed to. She didn't want to be one of those types of people, and it wasn't in her, so when she found out that the area that she had wanted was already booked, she wasn't all that surprised. It was a beautiful place to have a wedding. Instead, she had put a little bit of money down that he had given her for the other couple to be able to have a few more things. She continued to look for a place, and then she found another one that was absolutely gorgeous, and it was outside. Everything was perfect for the vision that she had in her mind. And it was open. She immediately booked it and then let him know that they had the space available and where it was. He had already hired a com
