Alicia's POV.
“Andrew will always love one person, Alicia, and we both know that it'll always be me! After all you saw the photos… he had me in his arms all night!”
Veronica's taunts hurt me deeply. All I could do was lie in bed, tossing and turning, replaying her cruel words in my mind. Her words made me both angry and heartbroken.
For years, Andrew had never touched me or shown me any real affection. Yet now, he was lying on the same bed as Veronica, his stepsister.
Did you really need to go this far to show how much you hate me? Did you really need to go this far to make me feel like I disgust you, Andrew? I bit my lip hard, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall down my ashen cheeks.
The sadness I felt, knowing that Andrew had always cherished and wanted Veronica more than me, made it almost impossible for me to sleep after a long, exhausting day at the hospital.
As dawn approached, I was still wide awake, with dark circles forming under my eyes. The night seemed endless, and every minute stretched into a painful reminder of my frustration and hurt.
I sat up in bed, my head throbbing with the weight of my thoughts. I clutched my temples, trying to shut out the pain, and then turned to the nightstand. Seeing my phone there, I was consumed by a surge of hopelessness.
Andrew hadn’t called. I couldn’t help but mutter, “Who knows, he might just be in her arms right now.” My voice was barely audible, but the pain in my words was sharp and clear.
In that moment, I felt a deep, gnawing sense of betrayal.
Suddenly, I felt a wave of nausea hit me, almost making me vomit.
I stumbled out of bed and rushed into the bathroom, desperate to escape the discomfort in my mind. I reached the sink just in time and heaved, my body wracked with tremors as the bile surged up.
The lack of sleep and the throbbing ache in my head only intensified my sense of pain and misery. Every heave was a painful recollection of the loveless marriage I was trapped in.
Despite the chaos inside me, I knew I couldn’t stay in the bathroom forever. I had responsibilities to face, especially caring for my mother once she woke up. The thought of it felt like an additional burden, but it was one I had to bear.
With heavy eyes and a leaden heart, I made my way to the kitchen. My movements were slow and deliberate as I made breakfast for my mom.
I prepared quickly and headed out. Dropping the food bag and clothes at the back of the car, I turned on the engine and sped out of sight. Veronica's words still etched in my mind ruined my day completely.
Just as I was headed to the hospital, I caught sight of Silver Fang Company, Andrew's company.
I didn’t want to think about him anymore because he didn’t think about me nor my child. He just didn't care about his own family.
I couldn’t ignore the gnawing curiosity and pain any longer. With a surge of determination, I slammed the brakes of the car, my mind racing.
"I need to find out for myself. If he won’t come to me, then I have to go to him…" I muttered, the words heavy with desperation as I parked the car and stepped out.
As I stood before the towering building, its name glaringly bold at the entrance, I gripped the strap of my bag tightly, trying to steady myself.
The weight of my frustration and exhaustion was almost unbearable. I was drained from the relentless strain of a loveless marriage, where public appearances masked the truth of the pain I felt.
I was weary of being the person he displayed in public, while at home I felt utterly worthless. The photographs of him and his stepsister in bed, intimate, had shattered any remaining illusions of affection.
I was done with the façade. I needed answers, and I was ready to get them.
I was done making excuses for you, Andrew. If what Veronica said is true, then it was time for me to make a decision. With that, I walked towards the entrance of the company.
Everyone who saw me bowed to greet me, but one thing they didn’t understand at this point was the fact that I wasn’t their usual Luna. The kind that would smile just to please them.
With a scowl etched deeply on my face, I stormed into Andrew's office, the atmosphere thick with tension.
The instant his gaze fell on me, there was a moment of surprise in his eyes, but it soon turned into indifference. just like I was a stranger.
“What are you doing here, Alicia? I don’t remember asking for your presence!” he demanded, his voice laced with a chilling coldness.
He hadn’t come home the night before, hadn’t bothered to call or check on me, or our daughter, or even returned my desperate calls.
His nonchalance to my well-being and my mother’s health felt like a betrayal of the highest order. And now, here he was, glaring at me as if I were the problem. Who was this man I had fallen for?
A bitter laugh escaped my lips as I took a deliberate step toward his desk, my eyes locking onto his with a mix of courage and hurt.
“I’ll ask you this just once, Andrew, and I expect a response. A genuine response!” I stated as I took my phone out of my bag. I scrolled through, and the second I caught sight of the photo that was sent to me, my grip tightened around the phone.
You had to do this, Alicia. You had to see for yourself the kind of beast you married.
With a heavy sigh, I turned the phone screen to him, showing him the intimate pictures again.
“What is the meaning of this, Alicia?” he asked with a raised brow.
“Is the woman in this photo Veronica? Are you cheating on me with your stepsister, Andrew? Have you always loved Veronica?” I inquired, my tone bitter and angry.
His eyebrow frowned. Then he raised his face and looked at me as if I was a fool.
“What does this has to do with Veronica?”
“Don’t try to cheat on me again. Veronica told me that she slept with you.”
“I never knew you to be such a stupid person, Alicia.”Andrew laughed at my question and even disrespected me.
I took a deep breath, my head was about to explode. “Just answer my question.” I emphasized.
“I have the right not to answer your foolish damn questions.” Andrew’s tone was dismissive, his gaze already shifting back to the files spread out before him.
My tears were about to wash out. But I hold them back.
Before I confronted him again, there was a moment of darkness in my vision.
My legs got weak and I was about to fall.
But just then , a firm hand suddenly grabbed my waist tightly.
Alicia's POV.We were so close. Man's muscle body strength easily stopped my falling.I didn't expect Andrew to hold my balance. He helped me find my foot on the ground and then again he quickly kept his distance from me.His hand that helped me was clenched into a fist and put behind his back.“Are you okay?” I felt his words soften for a moment.“Yes, I am fine. Just lack of sleep.”“You should stay at home to find your peace.”He rarely shows his care to me. I caught this opportunity.“Please Andrew, I need the answer. In our whole three years marriage and our yeas’ acquaintance, please don’t be so cruel to me.” I am nearly begging for his reply.“Alicia, not every question has an answer, for me or for you.”What did he mean?“I don’t understand you, Andrew.”I saw him go back to his desk and seemingly thought of something. His face turned cold again.“Just leave my office.”“No. I am not leaving. Andrew, I changed my questions to a simple easy and short one.”I bet the first half d
Alicia's POV.It felt as though my world was unravelling, the agony almost unbearable. My mother, the one person who had always been there for me, was gone… she was dead.My whole world collapsed. In the next few minutes, I couldn’t understand what was happening around me. I refused to accept the truth, the horrible truth. The doctor and the nurses left me and the door to the emergency unit creaked open.My heart dropped as I turned toward the door, only to be met with the harrowing sight of my mother’s body being wheeled out on a stretcher. She was covered from head to toe with a stark white sheet, a cruel act indicating her death. My eyes widened in deep pain, the tears momentarily freezing in my eyes as the gravity of the scene hit me with a jarring force.Slowly, I forced myself to stand, my legs shaking uncontrollably beneath me, each step toward the stretcher feeling like an eternity. The stretcher halted in front of me. I moved closer, my heart pounding with an intense, almost
Andrew's POV.“Let's get a divorce, Andrew… I'm done being good to you when all I get is your cruel response and this loveless marriage!”Alicia's words reverberated in my head as I sat down in the conference hall before my subordinates. They had something to discuss, but I didn't understand anything. I had my own problems. It’s been about a week, and still, I couldn't get Alicia's words out of my head. I couldn’t focus on whatever I was doing. Was it that I felt bad or broken knowing that it was over?As it stood, I should be happy; I should be glad that she was planning on ending the marriage. But then, I kept having mixed feelings. I got angry most times, and I got sad too. With a heavy sigh leaving my lips, I rubbed and massaged my temples, my thoughts hovering all over the place as I sat still, worried. Just then, Liam's voice broke through the trance I was engulfed in.“Alpha Andrew?” He called out, his hand gently tapping me on the shoulder and making me turn to him.The second
Alicia's POV.“It’s hard to say this, but goodbye, Mom.” Hot tears trickled down my face as I stood close to my mother’s grave, watching the men I had hired to cover her corpse.I wore all black, with black gloves signifying her death. My daughter, Elisa, stood right beside me, her eyes watching her grandmother being covered as well. It was a painful sight, the kind that brought nothing but hurt, sadness, and fear. With the black umbrella in my grip, I shielded myself and my daughter from the cold rain, avoiding its touch on our skin. It was a rainy day, and I was certain it was meant to show that the moon goddess had accepted my mother’s body.“Mommy?” Elisa turned to look at me, a worried expression on her face. “Isn’t Daddy coming to see Granny?” she asked, her tender voice echoing in the graveyard.“No, honey…” I sniffled as I shook my head. “He wasn’t invited. Maybe next time.” I lied. I wasn’t sure what to say to her.I had planned and attended the burial alone with my daughter
Alicia's POV.Now that my passport application and divorce documents had been signed, I wasted no time packing up my luggage and that of my daughter, Elisa.I didn't want to embark on a late journey to our new home, so I did my best to ensure I packed everything we would need without leaving behind any important items. As I folded the clothes neatly and placed them into each suitcase, Elisa, holding a dragon toy in her hand, walked up to me. Her face was contorted with confusion and anxiety as she held onto my dress and pulled it gently.“Mommy, is there a problem? Why are you packing?” she asked, her voice tender and soft as she sought a response from me.Seeing that she was curious and wouldn’t stop asking about what I was doing until I responded, I didn’t hesitate to crouch down to her level. My hand gently grabbed her shoulders as I stared directly into her eyes with love and care.“I know this might sound a bit weird to you, Elisa, but it's for the best. We are moving to a new ci
Alicia's POV.With a timid smile curling up across my lips, I walked into Sierra Cure Pharmaceutical. It was my first day at work, and I barely knew anyone, but at least I was willing to make new friends. The moment I stepped into the company, I couldn't help but notice the fancy and expensive interior design. It made me feel a sense of warmth and joy.I headed for the elevator, and as soon as I got into it, I pressed the button for the floor I was going to.It felt nice knowing that I had been accepted into Sierra Cure Pharmaceutical. After what felt like forever, the elevator doors opened with a light chime. With my grip tightening around the strap of my bag, I walked into the bustling area. I had expected a warm welcome, but instead, I was met with intense stares that left me reeling back. Most of the staff seated began to whisper and mumble among themselves at my sight. Others had sympathetic stares fixed on me, making it difficult for me to keep my balance.Wondering why they wer
Brian's POV.My skin felt like it was burning. I stormed into the house, my face and every move were buried in a shadow.I needed to get to my room and take a shower immediately. The second I got into the room, my expressionless face cracked and started to rip my clothes.“That son of a bitch! How dare he try to tell me what to do?” I bellowed furiously, my hand reaching for my tie and ripping it off my neck before tossing it to the end of the bed.I then took off my shirt and pants and threw them directly into the trash can. Thoughts of what had just happened a few hours ago flashed back in my mind.I had gone on a business trip to meet with a client, Mr. Thompson, CEO of the Thompson's Group. It was expected to be just business, but guess what?Mr. Thompson had the guts to bring in a woman and ask me to have sex with her. This irritated me to the core. Mr. Thompson had a penchant for sex-playing with women. He loved them so much that most people say he couldn’t go a day without rest
Alicia's POV. Standing before Mr. Brian, my heart raced rapidly with fear and uncertainty. My wolf, which had stirred, now remained calm, seeing that our mate was before us. He’s my second-chance mate? Why? This wasn’t what I was expecting. To become the president of Sierra Cure Pharmaceutical mate? It definitely wasn’t what I had planned for myself. My fingers clenched tightly as I stared at him. I didn’t want anything to do with anyone of higher status anymore. I was still new in Free City, and drawing attention wasn’t what I wanted or planned for. There was no doubt that I’d get myself into a deep mess if I accepted the fact that he was my second-chance mate and moved forward with him. According to the rumors, he was a thorn in everyone’s side and was also said to be responsible for his parents' deaths. Hanging out with someone like that isn’t just right. Besides, I had my daughter, Elisa, to keep safe. “Greetings, Mr. Brian. Is there anything I can get for you?” I asked soft
Alicia's POV. “No… no, I'll do everything possible not to mess things up,” I assured, shaking my head slightly as I tried to keep my composure. “I hope you do better than you have said. Now, Leave my office,” he commanded. At this point, I would have stayed and continued apologising, but it was clear he was still angry about the tampered document. I turned on my heels and dashed out of his office, closing the door behind me. The second I got out, I immediately notice the eyes of others on me. They began to whisper, as always. They must have been scared of what Mr. Brian would have done to me. Well, I don't blame them because I was scared too. With my head lowered, I made my way to my office. Once inside, I walked over to the chair and sat down behind my desk. I ran my fingers through my hair. Frustration seeping in, I bit my lower lip. I had to try my best to keep this secretary job but Brian was clearly not a kind person to deal with. His words about sending me out of the compa
Alicia's POV. “Mommy, do you really have to go to work? Why don't you just stay with me all day... please!” Elisa begged as she held my dress, her eyes filled with genuine concern and pleading. Elisa felt uneasy when we came to the new city. I truly didn’t want her to suffer from my divorce from Andrew. But it was the reality we had to fight together. I had bills to pay, and I had her expenses to take care of. She wouldn't understand it all, even if I tried to explain it to her. I wanted to prove to myself that even if I raised her alone, I could give my daughter a better life. It was a single mom's insist. I crouched down to her level, smiling at her, my hand reaching out to gently caress her hair as I stared into her eyes. “I promise to be back home early today,” I assured her, but she shook her head. “I don't want you to go at all. I want you to stay home and play with me, just like you used to,” she begged, her words making me recall when we were still in Silver Fang Pack Ci
Alicia's POV. Locking up the doors, I headed out of the company. I was just the only one left in the company as everyone else had left. We had ended work for the day and it was time to get some rest. I had more work to do because of Mr. Brian that was why I had to finish this late. Grabbing my keys out of my bag, I walked over to my car , opened it, climbed into it and turned on the engines of the car. “Let's get going.” I mumbled as I stepped on the accelerator that propelled Mr back towards the house. Elisa wasn't at home alone, she was too young for that. I had hired or employed a nanny that would take care of her while I wasn't at home and around her. Although I trusted my new nanny for Elisa, and she looked innocent too, I still didn't hesitate to install surveillance cameras at every corner of the house just to be sure that Elisa was really safe. Her safety was my priority. And at this point, waiting for a second later to know how she was really doing wasn't what I w
Brian's POV. Why do I feel a thrill in my heart seeing her? Is she someone special? I thightr inwardly as u tried my best to keep my composure in check. I wouldn't want her to sense or see anything weird in me. My wolf had remained dormant and chained so sensing it stir at this moment when Im faced with her wad intriguing and had me got aloy of questions to ask. “Stay calm, Cain!” I said to my inner wolf, trying to make him stay calm. It was becoming too much to handle. “You have been dormant all these years, don't mess things up here!” I warned and immediately, it stopped and remained quiet. My heart stopped Racing and my body returned to its normal temperature but I still couldn't stop being interested in the fact that seeing her made my wolf stir. It had never happened before, no lady had ever made it happen before. “I am Alicia, your new Secretary.” Her words replayed in my head as I stared at her. I could notice how tensed and anxious she was but that wasn't going to
