Second Engagement

The view in front of her made Queenie frozen. Her future husband was in the same room as her stepmother. Queenie had always considered her as her mother. Queenie’s tears almost fell when she realized something was wrong with everything that was going on.

In her last memory, she was dead. But now, she returned to her engagement day to Prince Fabian was about to be announced. Queenie felt she was living in the past. With memories of the future.

After making sure everything was safe, Queenie came out of hiding. She hurried to her father’s room. King Darian must know that her stepmother cheated him. Her father had to cancel her engagement with Prince Fabian!

Before Queenie reached her father’s room, two royal maids found her. Their faces looked panicked and relieved to find Queenie.

“Princess, thank God we are finding you. We have to get you ready. The King is waiting in the main room.”

Both maids took Queenie by the arm and carried her into a room. In Queenie’s memory, that was her room. Large room with beautiful interior. Gold and white colors dominated the inside space.

The fragrance of fresh lilies filled the room. Queenie’s favorite flower. A flower that always reminds Queenie of the beauty and affection of her deceased mother. Because of the flowers, Queenie always felt Queen Sarah was alive and always with her.

She had been in the clutches of both maids. Queenie felt panic.

“Wait! I need to see my dad!” she shouted. She tried to escape from both maids.

“Princess ... please, at least for now. Don’t make your father feel ashamed. People from the great kingdoms will attend this festival.”

“What are you saying, girls?”

Both maids looked at each other. They rotated the eyeballs. Pretending they weren’t hearing what Queenie said. Both maids started their duty. Queenie was confused and just silent.

One by one, her memories returned. Before she died, she was making trouble for her father and the kingdom. The death of Queenie’s mother, Queen Sarah, made Queenie grow into a rebellious girl. Her Mom sudden death made her feel sadness and loss.

The wedding of King Darian and Queen Obelia was adding a wound to Queenie’s heart. Queen Obelia was always too much and tried to show her attention to princess Queenie. Unfortunately, her attitude made Queenie feel uncomfortable.

Queenie’s wedding was becoming a new hope for King Darian to make her better. He hoped Queenie could be a good woman. Although she was a princess, no one respected her. They pretended respect in front of Queenie. But behind her, everyone whispered about the girl’s unacceptable behavior.

Both maids were currently with her also. They changed Queenie’s clothes and put on some jewelry. They didn’t ask for her consent. Queen Obelia arranged all the clothes and jewelry for Queenie.

A few minutes later, Queenie appeared in the large palace meeting room. All the ministers and guests present stood up as Queenie entered the room. King Darian greeted his beloved daughter with a smile.

“Welcome, Queenie. Today, you are the most beautiful woman in the Bright River kingdom.”

“Thank you, Dad. May My Beauty bring you to the highest King.” Queenie said as she lifted her dress that touched the floor. She also lowered her head and bowed.

Queenie’s words made everyone present there feel amazed. No one knew when the girl in front of them became a well-mannered girl with good behavior. Usually, Queenie had just sat in her chair and stared haughtily at everyone.

Maybe a beautiful attitude was usual for another princess. But because Queenie did, they considered this attitude something special. The girl usually only knew how to behave spoiled, angry, and make trouble.

King Darian’s eyes glazed over at his only daughter. He thought his decision to marry Queenie to Prince Fabian was the best. Evidently, from day one, Queenie had changed her attitude.

“Come here, Queenie. I will unite you with Prince Fabian from the Nicundhra Kingdom.”

A man who was wearing clothes from the Royal Palace of Nicundhra stepped forward into the middle of the ballroom. King Darian down the stairs and headed to the middle of the ballroom. Everyone looked at them. Their eyes were full of admiration.

United of two kingdoms. The handsome prince and beautiful princess. Everything looked so perfect. Their engagement made everyone feel jealous. However, Queenie didn’t move. She just stood in silence.

In the middle of the room, there was a stage. The venue was prepared for the engagement of Princess Queenie and Prince Fabian. Two priests from both kingdoms in their traditional clothes were there. They gave them blessed for both.

They looked at Queenie, who was just silent. Everyone felt worried. They doubt Queenie’s attitude that she had just seen. The girl made trouble now. Her attitude was embarrassing her father and his kingdom, Bright River.

King Darian walked up to Queenie. He gestured for his daughter to hold his arm. Queenie looked around. Everyone seemed agitated. Her eyes stopped on queen Obelia’s face. She stood beside the King’s chair.

That Was Queen Obelia, her stepmother. The woman who was in Fabian’s room a while ago. Queenie didn’t see it all, but their sighs and shrieks of pleasure had told her everything. The stepmother had an affair with her future husband.

Queenie looked at the face of King Darian. He stood in front of her. His face looked older. He still looked appeared dignified, peaceful, and loving. His father’s eyes were full of hope. He had a great wish for his only daughter. Queenie didn’t want to hurt and humiliate her father here. In front of everyone from both kingdoms.

“Come on, Queenie. The time has come. We will bind you to Prince Fabian.”

Queenie smiled and took her father’s arm. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. They looked toward Queenie. She walked gracefully next to King Darian. If only Queenie were an excellent girl attitude, she would be a perfect princess.

She was as beautiful as her mother, Queen Sarah. She had brown hair and fair skin. Queenie looked like a diamond. Unfortunately, she always made trouble for King Darian and the Bright River Kingdom.

They arrived at the altar. Fabian gave his best smile to Queenie. Before her death, Queenie immediately left her father’s arm at her last engagement and entered Fabian’s arms.

The Prince of Nicundhra felt very confident. They had met twice before. For Fabian, it was easy to make Queenie become like a lizard attached to the wall. Wherever Fabian went, Queenie always followed him. She became a loyal fan of her future husband.

Fabian accepted an arranged marriage with Queenie because his father had assured him it was profitable. Their engagement was the first step toward the unification of the two great kingdoms.

Prince Fabian prepared to meet Queenie. Suppressed! The girl remained calm and stood beside her father. Queenie raised her chin high. She looked elegant and charismatic.

Very different from the Queenie that he met some days ago. The girl hadn’t even looked at Fabian. She ignored him since entrance into the room. Fabian was so confused because of it. He saw Queenie so detailed when the priest spelled some wishes for them.

Prayer started in both kingdoms. Then they requested a firm statement from the future bride and groom. Their royal wedding was to be held in the next two months. They made the biggest wedding ever. Their marriage would be in everyone’s memory.

The priest had almost finished spelling the prayer, but Queenie still hadn’t looked into Fabian’s face.

“Prince Fabian of the Kingdom of Nicundhra, are you willing to accept Princess Queenie as your future wife?”

Fabian smiled and looked at Queenie even though the girl didn’t care about it.

“Yes, I am ready.”

Then the priest looked at Queenie’s side.

“Princess Queenie of the Bright River Kingdom, are you willing to accept Prince Fabian as your future husband?”

Queenie was silent. She looked at Fabian. Her eyes made Fabian confused. Flashes of hatred filled Queenie’s beautiful eyes. Fabian, who was initially confident and calm, now felt shaken.

All eyes were on Queenie. They were waiting anxiously. In her previous life, Queenie directly said, ‘yes, I do,’ while smiling happily at Fabian and ignoring everyone. But this time, Queenie behaved calmly and let everyone wait for her answer.
