“You don't mean that, right? Steve, are you joking?” Councillor Maxwell asked him, trying to confirm if he heard him right or not.

“I'm sorry, sir, but I'm not joking. Megan knew about Veronica too.” Steve replied, sounding quite disappointed in himself.

“She didn't want to do it initially, but I somehow cajoled her into doing it. I'm so sorry, sir.” Steve bowed his head, avoiding Councillor Maxwell's angry and disappointed gaze.

“How long? How long has she known?” Beta Richard inquired and Steve took a quick uncomfortable glance at Megan's father before answering Beta Richard’s question.

“Since the morning after I brought her into the pack.” He revealed, and they all mumurred, while Councillor Maxwell’s head was bowed, avoiding the mocking eyes of the others.

He had put too much trust in his daughter, making him boast of how sure he was that she would never be involved in such an act, but now it turned out that he was totally wrong. So he couldn't face the others in the room. The on

Megan stood in front of her father, looking confused. She knew he was really mad at her but she didn't know why exactly.“Has he found out? Did Steve or did Veronica tell him that I knew about her stay in Steve's house?” She thought, as she asked herself a series of questions, which she eventually had no answer to.“I'm sorry, dad, but I really don't know what you're talking about. What did I do? Did something happen at the palace?” She said to him, her voice filled with confusion.“Don't you dare lie to me, Megan!” He snapped at her and she shuddered.“I'm not lying to you, dad. I don't know what is going on. Please, if you'll just tell me what happened exactly.” She pressed, hoping to get a hint of what he was talking about.“Silence!” He snapped at her again. “Did you actually think I wouldn't find out? You actually thought I wouldn't be able to find out, right?” He scoffed, and shook his head, throwing her into further confusion.“You must have had so much fun, laughing and deceiv

On their drive back home, Scott chatted away with Veronica. He had a lot to say to her, and although she was tired, exhausted and worried, she indulged him.“My mum will be so pumped up to see you.” He said excitedly, and Veronica just smiled.Noticing that her reaction was not too hyper like he thought it should be, Scott had to ask her, “What's wrong?”“Wrong? There's nothing wrong. I'm fine.” She answered calmly, with a weak smile, but the attentive Scott saw through her.“Come on, Vee. You don't look fine to me, and I can tell that you're worried about something. What is it?” He asked, with concern.“It's nothing serious, I promise you. I'm just tired.” She replied, with a weak smile.“Are you sure?”“Of course I am.” She assured him, with a wink, and he smiled.“Here, we are.” Beta Richard announced as he drove into the compound where some of the Beta's servants were waiting.“Vee, welcome to our house.” Scott said to her, beaming with smiles.“Wow,” Veronica muttered, looking ou

“Oh, my bad. This is Veronica.” Beta Richard immediately introduced her to his wife.“Yes, mum. This is Vee.” Scott cut in excitedly.Beta Lily narrowed her eyes as she tried to figure out who the young lady with silver hair, who her family was introducing to her, was. “Okay?” She dragged her speech, waiting for her husband to explain further why a stranger was at their house. “I don't think I've ever seen this face before now.”Before Beta Richard could respond, Scott immediately jumped into the conversation, “Oh yes, mum. Do you remember Vee?”Looking confused, she answered, “No, Scott. I don't remember Vee.“Have you forgotten so soon?” He asked, with a displeased look on his face.“I'm sorry, but, yes, I have forgotten.” She replied, her eyes darting towards Beta Richard, hoping that he would bail her out.“Remember the Vee who saved him when he was lost in the forest?” He asked her.“Yeah, I remember. The one he won't stop talking about?” She asked, still not getting the point.

ALPHA’S PALACE Steve and Alpha Marcus remained in silence for a very long while after the whole council had left. Alpha Marcus had a lot to say to him because he was in no way pleased with what Steve did, while Steve didn't really want to speak to him because he knew that they were going to end up having a misunderstanding.Seeing that the silence had lingered for too long, Steve decided to break the silence. He cleared his throat.“If there is nothing you have to say to me, I might as well just be on my way right now.” He said right after clearing his throat and began to leave after bowing slightly.Alpha Marcus felt like he couldn't hear properly. He couldn't believe that Steve was still trying to be headstrong after what he had done.Shocked by Steve’s words, Alpha Marcus exclaimed, “Have you actually lost your mind? How dare you try to walk out on me when I haven't asked you to leave? Huh?”“But you weren't saying anything, we've just been in silence ever since the meeting with t

As Steve left the presence of Alpha Marcus and Beta Richard, and made his way out of the palace, some drivers were waiting for him in the compound.“Are you ready to leave sir?” The driver asked him as Steve got closer.“Yes, why?” Steve inquired, because he didn't know why the driver was asking him such a question.“I have been told to drop you at home, sir.”“Uh, is that really necessary?” Steve inquired, with a puzzled look on his face.“Yes it is, sir.” The driver answered him.“No, I don't think that will be necessary. I just want to be on my own right now.” Steve stated, and turned away from the driver, trying to leave .“I understand sir, but I'm sorry, that was the instruction that I was given, sir.” The driver was persistent, and so Steve turned back to him. “There are still very few members of the pack loitering around. We don't want them reacting to you negatively, because they have heard what happened and tongues are wagging already.” He revealed, his tone barely above a

ALPHA'S PALACE “What do you plan to do with Veronica?” Best Richard asked Alpha Marcus after Steve had left, “you said you have made a decision already, or were you just bluffing?”Alpha Marcus' head snapped towards Beta Richard, “you know I don't bluff. I have made up my mind truthfully.” He replied and Beta Richard sighed.“I know that what Steve did was wrong on all ends, and I'm not trying to justify his actions, but I want you to think deeply about it again.” Beta Richard said again.“What do you mean?” Alpha Marcus asked him.“Look man, I don’t know what your decision is, and I'm not trying to plead or take sides with the girl, but if it wasn't for her, Scott probably would have been dead by now.”“Come off it, Richard. The warriors would have found him even if she didn't. Don't make a big deal out of what she did”“Yes, the warriors might have found him, but he might have been half-dead or completely dead.” Beta Richard replied plainly, and Alpha Scott sighed slightly.“Wait,

The Elders and the members of the council gradually began to gather in the Alpha’s palace, waiting for Alpha Marcus to come out to meet them. It had now been officially two days since the last meeting was held and since the meeting was adjourned, the new date arrived faster than they expected. As the rest of them walked in one after another, they exchanged pleasantries with the others and took their seats, also waiting for Alpha Marcus, who was yet to come out of his inner court chamber.Shortly after, Councillor Maxwell arrived with Megan, and the members mumurred as he took his seat with them, while Megan sat in a seat already provided for her, separate from the seats of the council members and pack elders. After what seemed like thirty minutes later, Beta Richard arrived with Veronica, and the murmurs in the room became louder as they all had one thing or the other to whisper to each other about her. Veronica took her seat beside Megan and they exchanged sad glances.“I'm so sorry

The room was plunged into a deafening silence as the Alpha spoke. Steve's eyes darted towards Megan for a short moment, before fixing back on Alpha Marcus. Megan’s hands trembled, as she awaited what her fate was going to be.Veronica’s breath caught in her throat, her heart racing with fear of what was about to befall her friends. She was about to take a step forward, to plead to the Alpha on their behalf, but a warning glance from Beta Richard made her freeze in her place.Alpha Marcus’ gaze lingered on Steve and Megan, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity, making Megan's heart beat faster. Steve, on the other hand, didn't really care. He was prepared and ready for whatever was going to come his way.His only fear and concern was for Veronica, who he thought his father was going to send out of the pack, but seeing as her case was already sorted, he didn't care about whatever punishment his father had for him. Veronica wailed helplessly as the thought of her only daughter being killed filled her heart.“Who could have done this?” Beck questioned himself, as he tried to console his wife. “Please don't cry. We'll find her.” He tried to be strong for both of them.“Please take her inside.” He said to Veronica’s maids.“I'm not going anywhere until my daughter is found.” Veronica protested, crying profusely.“Please just calm down and stay inside. We'll find her. I promise.” He tried to appease her, fighting his tears at the same time.“I shouldn't have left her alone. I shouldn't have taken my eyes off her.” Veronica blamed herself for what had happened as she was taken back into the palace, even though she struggled with the maids, who tried to take her in.Minutes rolled into hours, hours rolled into days and days rolled into weeks. Before they knew it, it had been one month since Miley was kidnapped on her birthday, right under their watch, and they were yet to find her.Beck was broken as

The familiar sound of his voice, the way he whispered her name, awakened a flood of past memories and emotions.“Don't!” She snapped, turning around, and letting out a gasped breath. “Don't you dare call me that. You have no right!” She pointed straight into his chest.“Veronica, please.” He begged, falling on his knees.“You lost the right to call my name that way the moment you stood there and watched me being humiliated and you did nothing. Veronica lay motionless, her chest rising and falling with each gentle breath. The soft morning light streaming through the window highlighted the peaceful features of her face, her eyelids fluttering slightly as she chased the remnants of a dream. The silence was almost palpable, broken only by the distant chirping of birds, flying in the sky. Veronica's hair flowed across the pillow like a waterfall of night, a few stray strands framing her face.Just as it seemed like the silence would continue, the creak of the front door broke the stillness. Vincent stepped out of his room, tiptoeing, his footsteps echoing through the hallway. As he got to Veronica's room, he pushed open the door slowly, wincing slightly at the faint creak of the hinges. A warm smile spread across his face as he gazed at his sister, sleeping soundly. He moved with a quiet motion, trying so hard not to startle his sister or disrupt her sleep.“Vee?” Vincent whispered, his voice barely audible over the sound of hi

I'm really pissed, and I think the security team isn't doing what they are supposed to be doing. I guess it's time for a change.
