Penny had experienced many confrontation regarding her job but it was the first time that a client had prioritized her safety.
The woman drew in a sharp breath seeing his action, “Bastard! You have some nerve bringing another woman to her foundation.” She bellowed, panting after spewing her words. Her body continued to shake furiously.
“Are you done?” Killian asked calmly.
The woman widened her gaze at his response and moved her right hand.
Unflinching, Killian continued in a threatening and dark voice, “I dare you, Vivian.”
Even Penny was shaken. His words clearly communicated that no one dared to make a move against Killian King.
The woman he called Vivian paused her hand in mid-air. “This foundation belongs to me as well. I have steered clear of it for so long, out of respect for her.”
“Not anymore. No one gets to tell me what to do.” The woman gulped, cowered away from Killian as he walked closer to her. “Not even you.” He whispered menacingly in her ears.
He signaled to some men in suit who flanked the woman on both sides within the blink of an eye.
“This isn’t over, Killian. Never!” The woman continued to scream as the security drags her away.
A man ran to meet the woman that was carried away from the hall. Right before he left, he stared daggers at Mr. King.
Penny was really curious about what the situation was but she knew it involved someone’s death.
Killian looked calm but there was a domineering aura that surrounded him. Penny watched every one tend to their business after the show was over. The men around could no longer stare at him in the eyes while the women purred at his presence.
My date tonight must hold such a great power in this city. But I have never seen him or heard about him.
Or maybe I have just been way too out of touch with the society.
Penny refused to blame herself. While her peers partied, all she could do was work her butt off days and nights.
“What was that about?” Penny knew it wasn’t her business but her curiosity was too violent to be tamed.
“None of your business!” He retorted and added, “You are dismissed for the night, Ms. Winters.” He said blatantly and left. Some of the men in suit ran after him.
Freddy gave Penny an apologetic look but she didn’t want anyone’s pity. Her legs went after Mr. King.
He found him just as he was about his driver opened the door to the backseat for him.
“What the hell is your problem?” Penny inquired. Penny yanked off her mask without worrying about her photos taken.
The sight that greeted Killian stunned and rendered him speechless.
He shook it off and retort, “You had a simple job but you couldn’t help yourself butting into someone’s business. What else could be expected from a cheap slut like you?”
Penny reeled back from his insult.
She felt insulted being called cheap, not that she acknowledged the slut part.
“You need to pull out that stick outta your cold misogynistic ass.” Penny refused to back down. “You want the world at your beck and all? Ain’t going to happen. This missy isn’t a push over, Killian King!”
Penny’s phone rang from inside her clutch. She rummaged through the fake sparkly clutch and furiously pulled out her old flip phone. She could see the people staring at her phone like it was alien.
“Cain?” She answered the call.
“What happened?” He asked. “Did you blow the evening up? I told you he is a big short. He was furious and rated you 1.”
Penny gasped and directed her gaze at Mr. King.
The hell? Why did he do that?
“I only asked.” Penny answered, trying to justify her actions.
Cain roared over the phone, “Asked? You had no business getting to know your clients. I shouldn’t have sent you. Look at what doing you a favor cost me, huh? Thank goodness he is the generous kind.” He scolded.
“What?”
“That is your cut for the night. Learn to never intrude. These folks aren’t your buddies. Know your place, Penny!” He yelled and ended the call.
All I can do was stare. My phone showed the pop up of a notification. Two grands?! Shit!
I couldn’t believe he took a chunk of my money just to teach me a lesson. The balance could barely cover the cost of Bryan’s medication.
“You reported me to my boss?” Penny looked away from her phone to Killian. He had a satisfying look on his face.
Her hands pull at her hair, not bothering about how much of a mess she looked at that moment.
“I guess the world is at my beck and call, after all, Ms. Winters.” Killian said mockingly and entered his car.
Penny shut her eyes and tried to calm down. Mr. King had to be the most infuriating and insufferable man on earth.
There has to be another way. It is why I took this dehumanizing job. It is one of the highest paying gigs right after stripping but my mother’s words are forever stuck with me.
Penny called Drew but his number went to his voice mail. She tried multiple times but it was the same result.
Where the hell is he?
Penny hailed a cab to the hospital. Her head was filled with the thought of how to pay her brother’s bills and also to have him scheduled for surgery soon. It had been two years since he got diagnosed with a heart related diseases but it took a while before they could find a matching donor. With no family left, it had only been Penny running around to make sure he lived to see the next day.
That way, she wasn’t left alone in the wild wicked world.
Slowly, Penny made her way to his room when she arrived at the hospital. Strangely, her heart began to beat violently in her chest as she got closer to his room. A nurse ran past her while some doctors ran into a room.
Dread filled Penny as she said a silent prayer that all was right with her brother.
She reached his room the same time Doctor Carl shut the door to the room. She tried to open it but it didn’t budge.
What is going on with Bryan?
Penny watched him yell at the nurses as he stood next to Bryan’s bed, “Take her away.”
Bryan was strangely still on his bed, sending chills down Penny’s spine. She couldn’t bear losing him.
“Brayan!”
“Bryan!!” Penny screamed at the top of her lungs.
Some hands grabbed me from behind as I try to yank the door open. In the room, the defibrillators machine was rubbed together and used on Bryan’s bare chest.
Oh lord …No!
I can’t lose another family member.
“Let me in, please!” Penny screamed out loud in the hallway.
“Come with me, Penny.” The voice sounded familiar but rationality had escape her so she thrashed in their hold, desperate to see Bryan. She wanted to hold his frail hands and to tell him he would be okay.
Penny was dragged into a room to calm down but her gaze was fixed on the door as her mind reeled the entire time.
Is Bryan alive or…? I can’t even stomach the possibility of losing him.
She held in the tears that threatened to slip.
The door opened and she leapt out of the seat as soon as Doctor Carl came into the room.
“How is he?” Penny asked frantically. She had lost count of the number of times that she had run her hands through her hair. Her profile looked akin to a crazy lady.
Doctor Carl took in a deep sigh which nothing to assure Penny. It wasn’t a good sign.
“Penny, have your seat.” He said. He assisted Penny back to where she was previously seated and they both take a seat.
“He…is stable for now.” He said gruffly. He looked worn out. There were dark circles around his eyes. The calls must have been exhausting. “But he needs that surgery soon. You need to get the money so we can have some hope to finding a donor faster. It is his only option of survival.”
“He has maybe two months to live.” He added with a pat on the back and left her to my thoughts.
Two months? If he doesn’t get the surgery, then I will lose him. Where in the world will I get half a million dollars for his surgery? I barely have ten grand in savings. I will need to escort over 50 men to make that kind of money within two months!
Penny left the hospital after peeping through the door. He can’t see me broken like this. It will destroy him. The minute I step out of the hospital, cold breeze hit me. I feel my face dampen.
Penny was unable to hold in the tears anymore. With blurred vision, she hailed a cab and direct the driver to West-lane Street. It was where Drew lived. Drew and I have been dating since high school in our senior year. She hoped to seek some comfort in his arms.
Penny ran out of the cab right after paying the driver and entered Drew’s building. He lived on the third floor but she could only take the stairs. The doorman knew Penny so he allowed her into the building. He stared at her strangely as if words were on the tip of her tongue.
What was up with him? Maybe her tear-stricken with washed up makeup face was the reason.
She dismissed her observation and climbed the stairs to Drew’s floor. The elevator had stopped working for as long as she could remember. The stairs were old and cranky with each step but she managed to run up the stairs while holding the gown to avoid tripping over it.
His door was locked but loud music was blasting from his apartment. That explained the reason he wasn’t answering his call. He probably didn’t hear his phone ringing. She guessed he was still awake.
Thankfully, he gave her a key so she went through her clutch and pulled it out right into the keyhole.
The music blared into her ears with full force as soon as the door was opened, making me cringe.
Damn it! He will surely blow up his ears one of these days.
Penny walked over to the stereo to reduce the volume till it sounded bearable to my ears.
“Drew?” Penny called out while dropping her heels on the floor to go look for him.
Her feet took her towards his bedroom. When she reached his door, some faint strange noise could be heard.
Penny swung the door to his room open.
“What the hell?!”
Two unclad bodies previously embedded in each other scrambled off the bed as their bodies glisten in sweat from their dirty deeds under the sheets.
“P-p-penny?!”
“Shit!”
“Fuck!”
Drew spewed arrays of cuss words while Penny was still in disbelief.
The woman his manhood was buried in some minutes ago held the sheets against her body, looking calm and unbothered.
“J-jessy, you have to leave.” Drew said quickly, stumbling over his words.
“Why should I? But we are not done.” She whined, staring steely at Penny.
“I promise to call you. Get out now!”
Jessy sashayed with her clothes in hand and left the apartment.
“Babe! It is not what y-”
Penny scoffed at him, “Let me guess. It is not what I think?”
Someone needs to put it out there that the audacious lie doesn’t work anymore.
She turned around to leave but he ran after her, grabbing her by the forearm.
“Hey… Come on, Penny. You can’t be mad at me.” He blurted out.
“What?” Penny ask, looking confused.
Was he about to justify cheating on her?
“Don’t play holy than thou with me,” He sneered. “I have never complained about you hanging off those men’s arms, have I? Lord knows if you warm their beds as well. You could sleep with them but never me. All you ever cared about was your brother. I have my needs, too.” He adds.A resounding strike pierced the air.
Drew raises his right hand to the side of his cheeks as he balled his left hand into a fist. Penny’s hand stung from hitting him.
“How dare you?!” Penny screamed, unable to bottle up the pain and humiliation. “My brother almost died some hours ago! You know what I have been through yet all you cared about was your needs?” Penny scoffed, looking at him dead in the eyes.
“Oh… Please! Bryan this! Bryan that… Way before he got sick, you closed your legs tightly shut but now, nothing stops you from opening it up for money, slut!” He spat out.
Penny reeled back from his accusations.
She shook her head unbelievingly, “I have been nothing but loyal to you. You are an asshole, Drew!” She spat right back at him and stormed out of his apartment.
She wiping the tears as she descended the stairs. She understood the look the doorman gave her. But all she wanted was to curl up on her bed.
She waited by the roadside in hopes of getting a car but there was none. It is past 11 pm and late already. Her battery was dead as well. The world seemed to be working against her.
Penny decided to walk barefooted to her house as it was only a couple of blocks from the a-hole’s apartment building.
Some passersby also trying to get home as well gave her strange looks at her disheveled state but paid them no attention. She couldn’t wait to reach home and cry herself to sleep. Over an hour passed before she reached her apartment.
It looked like scrap but it was the only thing affordable in the neighborhood that wouldn’t dig into her savings for Bryan’s surgery.
Shit!
I forgot to take my money from Drew’s apartment. Dang it.
Just as Penny finished removing her makeup and taking a shower in her tiny bathroom, her phone rang.
“Cain? This has better be good. I have had a rough night.” Penny rush out. It was bad enough that her money was slashed.
“Luck is on you. I have a proposition for you, okay? With the requirements, you are the only one that can do it. I don’t trust the other girls We are gonna split the money.” Cain said, coughing.
She bet she was smoking. He didn’t value his lungs one bit.
“What is it, Cain?” Penny asked, impatiently.
“What do you think about being a surrogate?”
“Why hasn’t she said anything?” Killian asked coldly while standing in his study in the manor. “Does she suddenly have morals to reject the offer?” He continued with a sneer. “Killian. It has only been twelve hours. You won’t pressure her into accepting, will you?” Freddy inquired. Killian snapped his gaze at him, making Freddy quickly look away from him. They might have been friends for so long but he knew how short tempered he could be. “This is all your fault. Any creature with a womb will leap at the opportunity of a hundred million dollars! But you just had to insist on her, didn’t you?” Killian glared at him as he walked to his seat behind the mahogany table. Will she really toss the opportunity away? From what I have been told, she needs money to save his brother.’ Killian thought to himself. Maybe she couldn’t be bought with money like she truly said. But Killian refused to be proven wrong. No one on earth wouldn’t tremble and fall for the temptation of money. “I will ca
For a second, Killian thought Penny’s eyes would budge out of her eye sockets. Then, a look of disdain followed.“Cain, you wanted to see me.” Penny said as she passed by me and pretended not to see me.Her nerve!“Ms. Winters.” Freddy called out to her. He had been by my side the whole time. Penny snapped her gaze and looked at Freddy. Her expression changed to a delightful one in a lightning speed.“Ridiculous.” Killian sneered into the air. Still, she pretended not to see him and embraced Freddy right in front of me.’Her actions seem spiteful.“Mr. Luther! You are here!” She exclaimed strangely sincerely.Freddy answered with the same enthusiasm, “Yes, I am.” Killian cleared his throat. “I am with Killian.” He quickly corrected.“Nice seeing you, Mr. Luther.” Penny said and still refused to acknowledge Killian. Killian glared in her direction.Penny could feel his gaze boring into her skull. Unable to shake it off, she turned around with a glare of her own, “What do you want, Mr.
“Girl, your phone has been ringing non-stop. Are you gonn’ answer it or not?” Betsy said, eyeing her phone on the side as she flipped the pancakes expertly.Penny turned to look at the caller ID. It said Drew, once again. She ignored it like she had been doing for his previous calls and continued mixing the batter for the pancake. “I bet he will stop soon when he doesn’t hear from me after a couple more calls.”“You ever gonn’ tell me what’s going on?” Betsy protruded with her southern accent, hoping to get answers.“What is going on right now is that the pancakes are gonn’ get burnt.” Penny responded, imitating Betsy’s accent.“Oh shit!” Betsy quickly took the pancakes out.Penny furrowed her eyebrows. “Language, Betsy! There are kids around for Pete’s sake.”Betsy waived her hand dismissively, “Like they haven’t heard worst around here? Lily and the grocery truck driver were hitting it a couple nights ago.” Betsy said, laughing. “These kids will turn out just fine.” She added.Betsy
The figure pulled the hood back to reveal Drew. He pulled Penny into a hug.Penny felt uncomfortable hugging Drew so she pushed him away slightly but he refused to let go completely.“How did you find me?” Penny asked, concerned.“You wouldn’t answer my calls. Had to come here because you love your volunteering.” Drew explained, quoting the last word with his fingers.“What do you want, Drew?” Penny asked, ready to get it over with.Drew grinned while holding her hand, “Come on, Babe. Still mad at me?”Penny gave no response. “Hey, it was just that one time. You have to forgive me. I wanted you, Penny but you never cared give me what I want. Now, we can fix that.” Drew said.“Drew. I don’t give a damn about what you want, okay? If you are done, get the hell out of here and never come back.” Penny retorted, feeling disgusted with his excuse.“No, babe.” Drew refused with a shake of his head. “I held out for 3 years. You owe it to me.” His hold on her wrist tightened.“I owe you nothing
Penny’s face was flushed from the whole dancing. He had taken off his suit with only his dress shirt on. The sleeves of his shirt had been rolled up, exposing his forearm. He looked so handsome under the bright light. Geez, Penny. The alcohol is doing a number on you if you are getting attracted to Mr. King. But who isn’t attracted to him? Then, she noticed him saying something. “What?” The music was too loud so she thought she heard Mr. King wrong. Penny heard him grunt. “Come.” He ordered. Her legs started moving and followed him to where the music was quiet. The restroom wasn’t farther from where they stood. “What were you doing here?” Killian demanded. “C-came to have fun.” Penny answered with a pout after stumbling over her words. “Throwing yourself at random men is fun?” He asked, scoffing at her. “Would you prefer if I threw myself at you instead?” Penny inquired, winking lazily at him. Killian stared at her with a look of confusion etched on his face. “You didn’t read
Penny was sleeping when her phone started ringing violently. She leapt out of her bed to shut down the annoying device but the caller ID made her pause.Killian King? When did he save his contact on my phone? “Hello?” She gingerly put the phone to her ear.“It’s Monday.” His deep voice came on.Penny blinked unable to connect the dots.Killian was quiet for a couple of seconds, “Don’t tell me you forgot about the appointment.”She rushed over to the bathroom with the phone in between her ear and shoulder. “No. Not at all.”“Tell me where you live. I will send my driver to get you.” Killian demanded. She was pressing some toothpaste on her brush. “I will meet you at the hospital. Just tell me where.”Seeing that she would be stubborn, he gave her the address of the hospital. She stiffened at the address. That is the same hospital my brother was admitted. That posed some major problem for her. She proceeded to shower in lightning speed and threw on a big shirt with a pair of cargo pant
Penelope could feel her being carried but the blow to her head made her unable to open her eyes. A familiar woody scent swarmed her nostrils.Had he come to save her? She lost unconsciousness again, knowing that she was in safe hands.***“When will she wake up?” Killian asked, staring steely at the doctor.“S-soon.” The doctor sputtered, unable to hold Killian’s gaze. The door opened to reveal a nurse, “Dr. Mace! You are needed in the OR.” The doctor scurried out of the room to follow the nurse. He felt relieved to be out of the same room with Killian.Killian stared at Penelope’s body on the bed. Had he gone too far? He ran his right hand through his hair before pulling out his phone to text a number.“Find him.”***Two days later…Penelope’s eyes fluttered open slowly. She took in her surroundings. The walls were white and the light was blindly. The intensity made her groan as she squinted her eyes.“Light. The light.” She whispered. Not a second later, the light was turned off.
“Penny! Where have you been?” Bryan asked sternly as soon as Penelope stepped through the doorway.Penelope stopped in her tracks. She had quickly rushed over to check up on him before following Ms. Flores to Killian’s manor. Ms. Flores insisted on going with her but she pleaded with her to stay outside.“Uh… I had some work to do.” She responded with a smile sheepishly.Technically, it wasn’t a lie.His gaze travelled from her head to toe. She had worn a beanie over her head so she wouldn’t answer his barrel of questions.“What are you wearing?” Bryan asked. The clothes were totally not my style. I preferred baggy and casual clothes. Not the black fitted jumpsuit with a pair of heels. She only dressed exotic to work.God forbade he saw the new iPhone 15 bought for her.“I borrowed it from a friend.” Penny lied.He definitely didn’t buy it but said nothing. She spent some minutes with him before she got ready to leave. “Bryan. Please, don’t give up hope. You will be out of here soon.
“Congratulations, Ms. Penelope Fords.” The board members erupted in a series of congratulations. She had been voted as the new CEO for Ford Company and all affiliate companies. The new reached Stanley Ford and he was beyond livid. The woman took the one thing that he hoped would still be his if he was granted bail. But his court judgement had been life sentence till death without any chance of parole. It was at that moment that a foreign substance rolled down his cheeks. He didn’t bother catching it because he deserved all that had happened to him. He allowed himself to be driven with so much power, molesting women, blackmailing them and killing simply because he thought he could get away with it.In the end, Penelope Ford won. She provided the DNA evidence, sending Delilah and her daughters away. She didn’t take the house from them because she had no use for it. She, more than most people, understood what it felt like to have no roof over your heads. She wished she could be steel hea
“Max! Fran! Come out!” Penelope screamed at the top of her lungs, wondering where they had hidden. It was their moving day. The boxes had been tapped, packed and waiting for the moving truck. She tried again and went to the back exit to look for them. The kids were testing her patience lately. They had ben rebelling against her since she mentioned that they would be moving to the city. But Max had given her a condition- to move in with Killian. They wanted to spend as much time with her and Killian as well. The thought stressed her out because it further added more pressure on her decision making.“Come on, Max! Fran!” She called outside and was on the verge of giving up when she heard some movement nearby. There was a store room where she kept the supplies.“Max? Come out here!” She ordered sternly. He came out in slow steps with Fran in tow.“Really? Both of you are unbelievable. I am the parent here! As much as I allow you some freedom doesn’t mean you should undermine my authoriti
Revenge never felt this sweet and bittersweet. It had been a couple of days since Jared King trended for the fraud he was. His doctor who forged a report of his ailment had his license revoked as well. So, yeah… Revenge tour was bittersweet as many people lost their jobs, sources of income all to rebuild a system that had fallen into the hands of power-drunk men.Penelope took it upon herself to visit some people before she returned to the countryside. One of those people was Nathan Hoffman.“You have a visitor.” She heard his PA relay to him.“Was there an appointment?” She heard him ask in a tired voice. Her heart bled for him. She imagined the PA shook her head when she heard no response. “Let them in.” He gave his permission.Penelope waited for the PA to come out to accompany her in.“Nathan.” She called as soon as she set foot into his office. He raised his head slowly. A glimmer of light shined in his eyes at the appearance of Penelope.“Penny.” He whispered, almost disbelievi
His eyes looked like they had seen a ghost. He was right. Everything he held dearly would soon become a ghost of his imagination. "T-thank you all for spending today with this old man." He concluded his speech and left the center stage. People began laughing, smiling and toasting to him. A clip played in the background for everyone to see. It was a collage of photos with music attached to it. Stanley smiled so much, his cheeks burned. Slowly, the pictures turned from pictures of his to pictures of the bruises he afflicted on Lola. Everyone gasped at the gory pictures, covering their mouths at the sheer horror of those images. Soon after, names from the black lists were called. Several funds of the government that was diverted. Stanley gasped, shaking his head disbelievingly. "No! None of this is true." He tried to plead with his guests who had adored him some minutes ago, now turned their backs on him.No one listened. People started to leave the parties because soon after, siren
"What have we got?" Killian asked.Boyles held a cigar in between his lips as he took a deep long drag."A lot. Depends on where you want us start." He spoke after putting the smoke in the air. His feet casually crossed over each other on her work desk. She had a study in a makeshift basement. It was no news that Boyles knew about where she was, even though she never revealed where she was writing from in any of her letters. He was the one that anonymously tipped Killian about her whereabouts. They knew because he confessed the minute he set foot into her household, right before plumping into the chair in front of her desk.He was always an enigma thag no one could decipher."His offshore accounts. We must look into it. Several events had been hosted, especially art works which we know he couldn't give the middle finger about. Most of them are usually sent to another location." Killian inquired, looking at the spread papers and files before him."I will have my men on it. I got you an
Penelope woke up to the light streaming down softly on her face. She groaned a little due to the sudden intrusion on her vision she opens her eyes. She adjusted her position and met a wall behind her. Her hand darted to the back to feign the object."Careful, love. Unless you want to stir him awake for another round. I don't mind, though." His voice vibrated against her neck, turning on very early in the morning. She bit her lips and retracted her hand. As tempting as his offer was, she couldn't even summon the strength. The previous night was a tryst that left her moaning her lungs out and causing her to be sore down there. If she somehow made it out of her bed, she would claim victory. The night was sweet, slow and rough. Everything she wanted and desired. She clamper he thighs shut while reminiscing."Talk to me. What are you thinking about?" Killian asked, slipping his hand around her waist and pulled her flush to his front, not condoning any space between them. He let out a sigh
Killian didn’t hold back on having fun with Max and Fran, especially not on his Black Gold credit card. But he didn’t mind. Anything to see the joy on their faces, he was willing and ready to do it.Sometime in the evening after having lunch with the kids, Max asked, “Okay, Dad. Why are you sulking? Don’t you like spending time with us?” Max inquired, dumping his fries on the plate and meeting his gaze.He turned away from the view of the buzzling locals outside the window, “Of course, I want to spend all the time I can get with you.” He spoke defensively. The two arched a brow, “Then, why are you sulking?” Max asked again.“I am not sulking.” He answered with a scowl on his face.Max and Fran leaned back at the same time, seemingly choreographed before concluding. “Sulking!”Killian let out a sigh.“Come on. Talk to us.” Fran spoke this time. She pushed her food away, grabbed the napkin to clean her hands and crossed her arms, expectantly.Max leaned back into his seat, waiting as we
“Stay in here and don’t leave the car, Penny.” John warned sternly, debating on whether he should turn back home because of the danger he might be putting his daughter in. Evelyn would have his head if she found out about it.She had warned him against it but didn’t listen to her. How could he? The only opportunity he had to save his dying wife, not taking it would mean losing her to that bastard disease that was eating her up from the inside. All he wanted to do was take his wife’s pain away. The society shouldn’t fault a man for the means he takes. In quiet strides, he went into the building with his hands tucked inside both his pockets. Occasionally, he would look behind him, straining his neck to check the car to see if anyone was near it.After some minutes, gunshot was heard, startling Penelope where she sat. her heart raced as she looked around, wondering where her father was.The kite was in her hold when she poked her head out of the window, looking into the darkness that ove
She looked down at their joined hands and looked back up at Killian. “One step at a time, remember?” She spoke and pulled her hand out of his. “The children are far more important right now.” She added and stood up from the couch. “Goodnight, Killian.” She whispered the last part.“Goodnight, Penelope.” He spoke in a low voice, feeling dejected at her rejection. Although, he half expected it but it didn’t lessen the ache he felt in his heart. He grabbed the comforter nearby and used it to cover himself after taking minimal clothing pieces off. That had been his bed for the past few days. The thought made him chuckle. How could a billionaire squeeze his length into a couch for days? Ms. Flores would have aneurysms if she ever saw him in that uncomfortable position. His bed was much more comfortable than the hard couch. He wondered why Penelope didn’t buy a more comfortable one when she easily could.Think of this as a means to an end, he tried to comfort himself internally.Just when h
