Chapter 252: To Be Cherished

Glen slid into the booth at Royal Chef, his back sore from where he spent the last two hours pounding in two-by-sixes to construct a longer pier for some cranky old man who stood at the edge of his property, criticizing everything Brent and Glen did. Glen ordered a Coke, but he really wanted a stiff drink. "That man was a total asshat," he said as he shoved his straw into his drink. "I swear, by the time we finished, I was ready to toss his ass into the river myself."

Brent chuckled, nodding. "Yeah, he was pretty full of himself. He had an opinion for everything, including telling us we used the wrong type of hammer."

Glen fell back into the booth, sighing. "I was ready to hammer him."

Rachel stepped up to the side of their booth, reaching into her apron for her notepad. "You two look more beaten than usual," she said as she poised her pen over her pad, ready to take their order. "Too much sun out there?"
