"Kathy York was attacked on the way to the branch office," Stan explained.

"You can handle that yourself," Isaac replied.

"She's seriously hurt, and is refusing treatment until she gets to see you."

Isaac frowned. "Got it."

He soon hung up, but Stan had no idea what he meant.

Meanwhile, Kathy was still throwing a fit, and he decided to text Isaac the address after some thought.

Maybe he would come after seeing the address?

It was not as if Stan was not doing anything—there was nothing he could do here.

By now, he was positive that Isaac did not like Kathy at all. He would not have transferred her to the branch company, and keeping her at all was only because she owned that silver crucifix!

That was why he could not decide what to do here, and rather Issac dealt with it himself!

On the other end, Isaac mused to himself for a while and told Irene, "Stay here. I have something to do."

Irene, however, had heard Kathy's name. Was he going to meet her now?

She actually felt dis

Isaac took two steps backward, avoiding Kathy.Naturally, she was disappointed to miss, and asked Isaac tearfully, "How could you do this to me?"As Isaac remained impassive, she bawled miserably. "I saved you, didn't I? Those men almost had their way with me!""I will not work at the branch company!" she cried hysterically. "Even if it kills me!"Isaac frowned in disdain just then. "You were raised overseas, weren't you? I could arrange a job for you at a foreign company instead," he said—not relenting despite her tantrum.Kathy was left in disbelief. Was his heart made of stone? Could he not see the bruise on her face? Why was he insisting on making her leave?"Why can't I stay at headquarters? Was my performance lacking? I can improve—""I arranged a job for you because of my grandfather and because you were the owner of that silver crucifix. Do you think I would be here otherwise? I'm already being kinder than I should be just by being here, and if your answer is still n

"Isn't that Chad Ross?!" Stan exclaimed in surprise. "I thought he was in love with Whitney Cox, and he looked like he could die after she went missing. He's marrying someone else already?""I told you to watch him—you never noticed that he was going to get married?" Isaac asked icily. He had been anticipating reprisals from Chad because he drove Whitney presumably to her death, and therefore told Stan to always keep an eye on his movements. "But my boys are watching him," Stan quickly argued. "He wasn't doing much, and I don't even recognize that woman."Worried that Isaac would snap at him for failing in his responsibility, he quickly tried to change the subject. "Hold on, sir. Don't you think the bride looks just like Whitney Cox? Maybe it's a rebound relationship?"Isaac was not interested in the bride, but he was surprised that Chad would marry another woman so soon.He certainly did not hold back from challenging Isaac just to protect Whitney, and there had to be actual lo

Harvey quickly answered the telephone, believing that there was news about Irene."Hello…?""We have your mother. Come meet Master Jefferson if you want her freed.""Moneypenny?!" Harvey remembered the butler's voice, and narrowed his eyes. "He took my mother?""Yes," Moneypenny replied."Where?" Harvey growled through clenched teeth."Hibiscus Garden." "I'll be right there." He snarled every word, his face contorted with rage.Even if there were times when he was unreliable, he cared for his parents very much—especially his mother—and he had never committed any unforgivable crimes!"Get the car. We're leaving." Harvey growled urgently.Enrique was left confused. He wanted the chopper a moment ago, and now the car? Which was it, exactly?"Mr. Gooding…?""The car!" Harvey barked.Having confirmed his order, Enrique quickly said, "I will go right now."After Enrique left, Harvey was left scratching his neck in frustration. Harvey had kept Irene's child at a nursery to avoid attention. He also hired a professional nursemaid to care for the baby.Having no choice now, he hurried to the nursery, handled the paperwork, and left with Tommy.Since he was driving, he kept the baby in the backseat—fortunately, Tommy just had some milk and was asleep, or he would be crying if he was awake.Harvey glanced at the rearview mirror from time to time. The child was less like Irene than Isaac, and the thought left him aggrieved. He managed to steal the boy and used him to coerce Irene, only for all his plans to be foiled in an instant!Even though he did not like the outcome, there was nothing he could do—he could not abandon his mother, and had to exchange hostages with Henry. The old man's plan to retaliate at Harvey with a taste of his own medicine was certainly effective, hitting him where it hurts the most in an instant!…Harvey eventually arrived at Jefferson Manor, and carried Tommy himself out of the

Rosa had no idea what had happened, but she was aware that Jefferson Manor was not the place to talk.Once inside Harvey's car, she took her son's hand and said, "Tell me. What was all of that about?"She certainly felt uneasy about all that."Look, Harvey—your father left the company to you in its entirety, and I don't know much about business so I can't help much with that. I also know that things can get difficult for you, but even so, you shouldn't force a woman who doesn't love you to marry you. You would never find happiness that way."While Rosa was being considerate for her son's sake since he would not find happiness in a marriage where coercion was involved, she was also a woman—she knew that from the perspective of the bride, being compelled to marry someone she did not love was misfortune too."I wish I could have a daughter-in-law who is kind and understanding, but most of all, loves you for who you are. If you love her too, your marriage will last. That's why I've be

As Henry looked up, he frowned when he saw that it was Ian. He folded the report sheet and slipped it into his pocket while asking, "Why are you here?""Just keeping a friend company…"Before he could finish, an alluring woman walked up and linked her arm around Ian's, but he quickly pulled his arm away and quietly told her, "Leave."The woman did not seem to understand and smiled. "Ian…""I told you to leave, didn't I?" His expression turned cold right then. Finally noticing that he was hostile, she became flustered and hung her head as she left."Grandfather…" Ian began.Henry, however, was watching the woman, and told him solemnly, "You're not a child—you should be getting married, and not surround yourself with unseemly women."Ian smiled. "Of course, Grandfather—by the way, I just heard that the child is Isaac's?"As he spoke, he glanced at the child in Timmy's arms.Henry stepped between them right then."You must be hearing things. Why would Isaac have a child?" he as

In the hospital, the doctor who had just performed the paternity test on Tommy had just put away his phone when he found Ian standing before him."Mr. Jeff—"Before he could finish, Ian had caught his collar. "Cut the crap. Tell me—why did my grandfather come to the hospital today?""It's a routine examination—""Do I look like an idiot?" Ian growled with a menacing glare. "Say that again, I dare you."The doctor was left shaking in his boots.Henry had pressured him into silence, but the man before him was no pushover either—leaving him treading on thin ice. "I would never dare.""So you do think I'm an idiot," Ian growled. "You think I wouldn't know? If it's a routine checkup, why would my grandfather be here at the genealogical department? Also, this hospital has the DNA of every Jefferson in case of emergencies. The only reason for using that would be for a paternity test for that baby my grandfather brought, no?""That's true, but I hadn't heard of any paternity test…"Ia

Irene appeared to be at a loss.Pain and helplessness showed in her eyes. "I shouldn't have told you. A cheater like you doesn't deserve to know."Isaac held her shoulders. "Are you telling the truth?""Why would I lie to you?" Her lips trembled even as she appeared deflated as she straddled him. "I had twins, but the infection from Whitney Cox's amniocentesis meant I would have lost one even if you didn't beat me up. The other is safe—that's why I was hiding for months, to deliver him."Isaac's heart pounded wildly, his breath and mind a mess right then. He wanted to raise his hands but could not feel his strength. "Where's our child?" he rasped. "Harvey Gooding took him. He was using him to coerce me into marrying him." Irene sobbed.Isaac's surprise and delight disappeared right then!"What?!" His voice turned cold and his expression was sinister."Let me go! I have to look for him—"Isaac promptly put her on the bed right then. "Debbie will soon come by with your clot

Soon after the wedding, Mr. Fowler proposed for Stan to work at his company to get used to the work over there. He was worried as he did not have much time left, and it would not do if he was gone before the proper arrangements were made.Still, Stan returned to Franconia with Isaac and his family, sorting out things at work and finishing every task he had on hand. While Isaac used to have a lot of free time with Stan around, he was just slightly busier after Stan left. After all, no company should operate in a way that losing a single person would stall all their operations. And after a week, Stan sorted out all the remaining tasks he had in Franconia and returned to Zidonia to start work at the Fowlers' family business. While Stan had property in Zidonia too, he moved into the Fowlers' mansion, but not as a live-in son-in-law. He was simply aware of Mr. Fowler's illness, and Rea wanted to spend more time with her parents. And as the son-in-law, he was obliged to do that much.

Zachary said, "I heard you sealed the deal with Rea Fowler, and her family is preparing for your wedding."Stan smiled. "I'm the look of success—getting a girl couldn't be simpler. See? I'm getting married already.""Well, I guess we're all taken now," Erin said.Tommy poked his head up just then. "Congratulations, Uncle Stan.""Thank you." Stan chuckled, patting his head."Also, I heard that you're marrying into the Fowler family?" Zachary asked.Everyone turned to stare at Stan in shock, but it was understandable.Stan was not that modest that he would have to go that far—he had money and was successful enough to afford a wife.Still, Zachary—who knew the Fowlers—suggested, "To be fair, they do need someone to take care of the family business…"-Either way, it meant that Irene's family would be delaying their return trip to Franconia. After all, none of them had expected to attend Stan's wedding so soon after Zachary's.Stan himself did not expect that either, as he had

"What's the problem? We've already slept together," Rea said as she put her clothes on.She frowned as Stan was still on the bed and not moving. "What, are you going to stay in my bed forever?""What am I supposed to wear?" Stan shrugged. "You haven't brought my clothes here.""I'll get it for you."Rea remembered his suitcase then and hurried downstairs to bring it up."Wear whatever you like. I'll be waiting downstairs," she said and hurried away.Stan got out of bed and put on a suit—it was only right to dress formally when it came to discussing marriage. After cleaning up and heading downstairs, he found Rea sandwiched by her parents.Stan had no idea if she had already mentioned it, but both Mr. and Mrs. Fowler were both staring at him, leaving him further tense.Clearing his throat, Stan began, "Excuse me, but—""Yes, we agree to you marrying our daughter.""You mean marrying into our family," Rea corrected them.Everyone else was staring at her before asking all at o

If Rea asked her parents now, they would only get sad, and life would become difficult for everyoneWhat should she do to make them happy?Right, she could get married! Her parents would definitely be pleased. As for the choice of bridegroom, did she not have one readily available here?If Stan could pretend to be her boyfriend, he could definitely be her husband too. They could fake their marriage if they had to!Putting the medical file back where she found it, she wobbled up to her feet and left the room.Stan had yet to step out of the bathroom when she returned, so she sat on the bed and waited. After a while, Stan stepped out with a towel around his waist and paused when he saw Rea sitting there. "Where are my clothes?" He asked, presuming that Rea had forgotten since there was nothing on the bed or the table. "My suitcase is still in your car trunk."Rea turned toward him. Mrs. Fowler smacked her daughter, but while Rea thought she was angry, she said instead, "Just do your best."Rea's mind was blown—were her parents bewitched? They were completely different from before! A long time ago, her parents had used to tell her that she did not have to marry as long as she was happy. But later on, they had persistently sent her on blind dates… and now, they were telling her to seduce a man?Touching her mother's forehead, Rea asked, "Are you sick?"Mrs. Fowler slapped her hand off. "Your dad and I are leaving now.""Yeah." Mr. Fowler nodded. "The chauffeur is waiting."Rea walked them to the door and watched as their car left before returning inside. She did not go upstairs since Stan was asleep, and she would be bored—she was the type who just could not sit still. However, it was inappropriate if she left since that would leave nobody home.In her boredom, she thought of pranking Stan. She headed upstairs to find him asleep, and soundly at that.Ca

Unable to argue against her parents, Rea said, "Fine, fine. Whatever you say."Mrs. Fowler smiled. "Then help Stan upstairs to get some rest.""Which room?" Rea asked.Mrs. Fowler realized with a start and quickly said, "Oh, there's no bedding in the guest room… So let him stay in your room."Rea was left staring at her in shock. "When did you get so open-minded? Letting a man stay in your daughter's room?"Mrs. Fowler shrugged. "What can he do when he's drunk?""Haven't you heard of drunken fumbles?" Rea asked. Both Mr. and Mrs. Fowler shook their heads at the same time. "Nope."Rea was left totally speechless—this was just outrageous! She would think that Stan was actually their son, if it was not for the fact that they were not acquainted before. They were not like this before either—even if they were urging her to get married, they were not throwing her at a man like this!Mr. Fowler then said, "If anything happens, we'll demand that he takes responsibility and marries y

Mr. Fowler smiled at him. "You're definitely a good drinker.""A little."Rea had enough right then. "Dad, Stan has work to do, and he has to return to Franconia tomorrow. You're going to make things difficult for him."Mr. Fowler smiled awkwardly. "Right…" "You think?" Rea huffed, snatching his wine away. "Everyone only gets to have one glass."Mr. Fowler glared at Rea. "Then what's your hobby?"Stan did a double take and remembered his life… which was work and more work.It had been years since he took leave, and he would not get to goof off the last few days if it had not been for Zachary's wedding.Hobby? He certainly did not have anything like that. Now that he thought about it, his life was boring and monotonous, and he did not have anyone very close. That was why he wanted a kind, understanding wife to care and offer him company while he took care of her needs. When he looked up at Rea, he clearly felt that she was not for him—he needed someone to take care of him, but with her, he would be busy taking care of her instead."You're looking at me weirdly," Rea suddenly said."How so?"
